Please be sure to read and make sure you understand our policy on usernames before warning users about it; usernames which suggest a conflict of interest aren't prohibited in the policy unless it appears that they are editing on behalf of a group or company, so User:Hannover dk does not appear to be a violation. That's why I thought both a username and COI warning were appropriate. In a future, similar situation (I've seen others very similar), should they only be warned about the COI? Browsing UAA, I've noticed similar situations noted there (but recognize that such things have a human element involved, i.e., different admins interpret policy differently sometimes). I had assumed the page referred to the "Hannover family" as in a family tree which the username is very unlikely to represent; if it was deleted as being a non-notable, small family group, then perhaps there is cause to believe that multiple individuals are using the account after all. Essentially there are two sections of the policy relevant to conflicts of interest as they pertain to usernames: WP:ORGNAME, which forbids the use of company names since they imply they intend to advertise for the company, and WP:NOSHARE, which states that an account may only be operated by a single individual. I'm not too good at looking stuff up, but do you know if there is a template that we can put on the article telling the viewers abouta proposed redirect? ► Wireless Keyboard ◄ 19:24, 14 January 2011 (UTC) I believe the talk page notice (such as one I saw you did already) is the best way. I'll look to see if there's a template, but if so, I'm not aware of it. However, there are templates for lack of notability and lack (or no) references. Those should be added to the article's page, as appropriate. Here's a list from Twin Hickory Elementary School: {{Notability|date=January 2011}} {{Unreferenced|date=January 2011}} {{Primary sources|article|date=January 2011}} Here's a slightly different list for Three Chopt Elementary School, with the difference being the use of "Refimprove" vs. "Unreferenced": {{Notability|date=January 2011}} {{Refimprove|date=January 2011}} {{Primary sources|article|date=January 2011}} Finally, I'll note that Henrico High School may not be appropriate for a redirect, based on a very liberal interpretation of the WP:GNG: 1. In the lede, the article states: Newsweek Magazine ranked Henrico High School number 928 in its 1500 top US high schools. Henrico High was the only Henrico County School to make the list in 2009.[http://www.newsweek.com/id/201160 "The Top of the Class The complete list of the 1,500 top U.S. high schools." Newsweek. 9 June 2009.] 2. I've seen it mentioned that while U.S. Elementary and Middle Schools don't get a "free pass" for articles, U.S. High Schools do. This discussion alludes to that. I've not found the base policy discussion that is explicit on that issue. As a consequence of point 1, I'm inclined to not Redirect or Merge that specific H.S., but instead try to improve it. As a consequence of point 2., I'm inclined to not propose Redirect or Merge of any U.S. High School articles, until or unless we find a policy or discussion that supports doing so. There's plenty of work to do by concentrating on Elementary and Middle schools only, and hopefully less drama will ensue, as well. Smart edit filter

It's entirely possible that the post removal was accidental - particularly as the edit includes additions from DMS. There is a new "smart edit filter" which I ran afoul of a few times - when editing a section I think it tries to merge changes which previously would have just conflicted. Not 100% sure on the details, but this comes up fairly often :) --Errant (chat!) 23:27, 21 January 2011 (UTC) The diff clearly shows my text removed, and the editor in question's being added, with one intervening edit. Dylan was already in quite a bit of hot water when he "did" his, and it made no sense for him to deny it if he had done it on purpose. So it's not an isolated incident we're talking about here. Maybe others (yourself included) should also read the WP:AGF page (for the first time by the looks of it). If I make an edit that accurately portrays an acceptable source I don't need to justify it. Are you ignorant of that point? My view of Wikipedia administrators gets dimmer and dimmer. You may want to consider reading WP:NOT and WP:NICE. The article in question seemed to be designed to make a WP:POINT, which is never well received. You added an ISP tag, which was then removed by the IP here with an absurd edit summary. I was tempted to revert, but I'm not really sure how these tags are added. In other words, I don't know what the process is for determining the pool and the owner of the pool. Anyway, in case you are not watching the IP, I thought I'd give you a heads up. If you wouldn't mind explaining how this works for my benefit, that would be appreciated.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:30, 16 July 2011 (UTC) Thanks for the heads-up. Regarding how they're added, there's two parts - the technical, and the policy: Technical: In most cases, simply using http://www.ipchecking.com/ will get you the information you need, in terms of host name / reverse DNS and IP whois. Determining if the IP is static or dynamic is not always something definitive. You can use http://robtex.com to check on which, if any, blacklists the IP is listed. Some, like dyn.nszones.com and dul.dnsbl.sorbs.net provide an indication (but not a guarantee) that the IP is not static. However, in the case of this IP, as it is in a Verizon pool, it may be static or dynamic. When in doubt, use the ISP template, which notes it as being possibly shared or able to be reassigned (which it is). Based on the IP's reaction, I'd guess the editor has a permanently assigned IP (you can usually get one for a few more dollars per month) and doesn't want the identifying information shown. Policy: When to add which ISP-type templates is pretty well described at Template:ISP: "Once an IP has been warned/blocked a few times, it is usually a good idea to add a header to the IP's talkpage, which identifies the WHOIS information" Note that I interpret the slash "/" between warned and blocked to be "or". Regarding removal: Per WP:OWNTALK, a user may remove almost anything (including warnings) from their own talk pages. Per WP:BLANKING, there is a list of things that may not be removed, including "For IP editors, templates in Category:Shared IP header templates". This same restriction is also noted in WP:DRC. So, technically, it is perfectly acceptable to WP:REVERT the IP's blanking of the ISP tag. However, I don't interpret that reversion as being required. In theory, you or I or anyone could revert, but then the IP will surely blank it again, and quickly a dispute will ensue - with no real value: The ISP tag is visible in the history A link to the Whois information (which is mostly what is shown in the ISP tag) is at the bottom of every IP's talk page. This is likely to be somewhat different from article to article. Is the site you reference a Reliable Source? Ultimately the Reliable Source Noticeboard should be consulted, if (as I believe) you intend to update many (all?) films with such references. Given that the site you reference is your site, is it a Conflict of Interest for someone associated with the site (e.g., you, but anyone else overtly or covertly involved in the site) to be adding such references yourself? You need to login! Otherwise, you're editing using your IP address, which is, essentially, a different identity. When you go to the main Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org, you'll see a link in the upper right hand corner that says "Log in / create account". You can also go the login page directly by clicking on this link http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:UserLogin. Enter your username (Greta Nettleton) in the username field and the password you created in the password field. When I looked at the change, somehow I read it as the IP adding two left braces to the front of the ISP tag. I actually (mis-)read it twice, and couldn't see a constructive reason for the IP making a formatting error and leaving an edit summary noting a fix to a formatting error. Per Template:ISP, the ISP template "Adds pages to Category:Wikipedia user talk pages of shared IP addresses." This lets editors know that contributions from this IP address are likely to be from different editors over time. "why is it needed on my page?" Per Template:ISP, "Once an IP has been warned/blocked a few times, it is usually a good idea to add a header to the IP's talkpage, which identifies the WHOIS information". Note that I interpret the slash "/" between warned and blocked to be "or". "The IP says it's his home computer" By host name, it clearly is a residential assignment. "How does that square with it allegedly being a shared IP? Or is it that the IP is dynamic? It is the latter. Determining if the IP is static or dynamic is not always definitive. You can use http://robtex.com to check on which, if any, blacklists the IP is listed (this one is listed in two dynamic lists - dyn.nszones.com and dul.dnsbl.sorbs.net). Sometimes, this provide an indication (but not a guarantee) that the IP is not dynamically assigned (meaning, under conditions not always under the users control, the IP can be reassigned). In the case of this ISP, it is definitive that this is not a static IP: Per Comcast, [5] "Static IP's are only given to business accounts; all residential online service accounts have dynamic IP's." From a practical perspective, the ISP and hostname are visible to anyone, from links at the bottom of IP talk pages. If the IP editor prefers anonymity, the best approach is to create an account. Hi Joe- I really appreciate you seeing the situation so clearly over on the Marisol Deluna page and in that investigation. I should have kept my cool through it all, but thanks for seeing I was simply frustrated. Moving forward, I was wondering if ElizabethCB123 can be permanently blocked, maybe along with her IP. She's since evaded the block, as you noticed and acted upon. I am nominating page for deletion again - the last time it was all of these now blocked socks and users that basically kept it from happening - and it would be a shame if she could just come back and do it all again (which she certainly shows a history of doing.) How exactly did that IP become connected to me? Running reverse DNS, it's not even in the same continent as I am. Denver Mountain Parks etc.

Buaidh referred me to you in hopes you can guide me a bit on some editing. As I told him (?) I've been attempting to do some cleanup on pages (e.g., Dedisse Park and Bergen Park) and discovered Denver was credited with Elk Meadow Park, so fixed that. That latter page needs work! They all do-- but Elk Meadow was so different I almost didn't know how to start! Is there a good pattern/model/template that should be followed for pages like these? (Parks, communities?)

I'm trying to get back in to editing, but am not up on the gadgets. Or the lingo. I joined WP:Colorado, and would like to focus on content for parks and history, but may need some backup or cleanup until I get up to speed. Buaidh says you need a page on Jefferson County Open Space, and maybe I can get to that sometime. If you could take a look at the Elk Meadow piece and jump in or give me suggestions, it'd be appreciated.

Also, is anyone else working on Jeffco history-- could that be a subproject or task force? Just a thought... I'm off to add a history section to Indian Hills. Another thought: how about a page listing CCC projects in Colorado?
