Talk:Jean Baptiste Point du Sable/GA1

edit

I've reviewed the article and left notes on the talk page. I've put the nomination on hold for seven days to allow the issues to be addressed. Feel free to contact me on my talk page, here, or on the article talk page with any concerns, and let me know one of those places when the issues have been addressed. If I may suggest that you strike out, check mark, or otherwise mark the items I've detailed, that will make it possible for me to see what's been addressed, and you can keep track of what's been done and what still needs to be worked on. Gwen Grant

edit

Hi, there! I'm curious why you removed Gwen Grant from the "Notable People from Worksop" list? She's a popular (and prolific) writer, from Worksop, where she continues to live and work. I've added a page for her.

In the interests of full disclosure, I should add that she's my Mom!

Iangrant1964 (talk) 01:43, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

You've deleted some pages of mine.

edit

Hi, my name is Alex and I have a pop band called Barker. Apparently the Barker page is a disambiguation page, so I created a similar page as Barker_(disambiguation) and then created in Barker a page for my band. You change it back to the way it was. Then I had the idea to create it as Barker_(band) but you deleted it. And as soon as I created a page for myself Alex_Motta, you deleted it too. I want the wikipedia pages to offer people a way to know more about us, but you keep deleting the pages I create! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Youremyonlyhope (talkcontribs) 23:15, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Felice News

edit

You just deleted Felice News. The article was almost completely different & material that was not verifiable was accordingly deleted. The AfD that you cited in the deletion is further evidence that the article was deleted merely because of incorrect information, not notability. I strongly suggest you re-think your recent deletion.

Happy Holidays, --VivereInNY (talk) 00:46, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

The article may have some of the same text, although I deleted all of the text without valid references & added numerous external links for further verification of information. Please review the issues with the first article in detail & compare them to the slightly changed text of the second article. Key words like 'claim' have been added. All text without verifiable references has been deleted. I do not see what the problem is. Please tell me what, specifically, is wrong with the second article. It seems like a perfectly verifiable article to me. If the second article is not satisfactory, I invite you ti create your own article on the subject. I represent the actual website & can verify any & all of the information listed in the article. --VivereInNY (talk) 01:47, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

External Coverage? See the following...

We've got lots of 'external coverage'. Why don't you just google Felice News. Also- If websites with less visitors than Felice, such as HappyNews.com, have wikipedias, dosent Felice deserve one, as well? Do you have any suggestions for creating a new article? Do you think that we have enough 'Notoriety' now? --VivereInNY (talk) 13:05, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

St Andrews

edit

I'm wondering if you can help me?

I suspect that Blairtummock is being a bit of nuisance. Blairtummock recently has re-instated information about demolished town ports back into the landmarks section. At the end of the first paragraph, is the one and only reference and i seriously don't believe, unless i'm mistaken, mention anything relating to the content. I also believe that this information does not belongs in the section (it would be better in the history section), but if i am seen deleting this info again, Blairtummock will just put it back in. Hi

Hi JeremyA

Can I please ask you why you have removed the links I added as 'unnessary external links'?

The links were to relavant, unique content so I thought it was okay. I did one ages ago and it appeared to be acceptable (last August) but you have now deemed it unacceptable too and the few I did last night.

How unique does the content need to be before you will allow a link?

much appreciated Iain —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.89.140.130 (talk) 12:32, 16 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jeremy

Sorry I was not signed in. My comments are the above.

As mentioned not sure why you removed my external link on Aviemore and other Scottish places.

It's unique content and it's useful content.

The links you have left are -

1) Good content http://www.cairngorms-park.com/Villages/Aviemore/

2) Good content http://visitcairngorms.com/

3) Good content - but same source as above, broken links over page http://visitcairngorms.com/whatson/

4) Good content http://www.aviemore.co.uk/services.htm

5) Very bad content, infact no content - just a page of Google links http://www.aviemoregolf.com/

6) Very bad content - really bad site http://www.whatsoninaviemore.com/

7) Bad content - intriguing site but poor content http://www.auldaviemore.co.uk/welcome.htm

So, in this context I am not sure how my link was deemed unneccessary. It's equally as good and useful as the best links. Is it that I added several links, without contributing content which irked you?

Apologies for taking up your time, I just want to understand so I can contribute better.

thanks Iain — Preceding unsigned comment added by IainMcNeill (talkcontribs) 13:10, 16 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

GeorgeGriffiths

edit

Hi Jeremy, it's been some years since I last contacted you but I've followed a person onto WP and thought it appropriate to warn you. GeorgeGriffiths has and still does participate to Wikimapia. His behaviour has been for the least disruptive, disrespectful, uncoordinated, unreferenced, unverified and otherwise poor. He has been banned and is now on WM hit list of contributors to immediately ban as his behaviour has led the admins to no longer welcome him. GeorgeGriffiths has done his best, for such a young person, to circumvent the tens of bans by creating sockpuppets or contributing anonymously. Should you request it, I can send you links to all the threads on WM fora with discussions about his behaviour. All the best Jez. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 20:46, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

On the first three pages of "user behaviour" are three threads about George alone, I could dig out more if you require:
http://wikimapia.org/forum/?t=5525 http://wikimapia.org/forum/?t=6863 and http://wikimapia.org/forum/?t=6867 I'll look at getting the list of his sock-puppets' pseudonyms. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 21:20, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome. Please note he's been contributing to WM anonymously with the following IP: 91.105.143.215 Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 21:43, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
'afternoon Jeremy, do you have grounds to think User:Tpxpress is a sockpuppet of User:GeorgeGriffiths? Looking at their contributions they are very similar. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 16:44, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Good evening Jeremy, as expected I'm facing two young persons regarding trivial topics. I think third party arbitration might be appropriate? Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 18:28, 23 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ah, what have I stumbled upon here. I do not appreciate you talking about me behind my back. I would like to let you know that I am, in fact, a different person from Tpxpress. Tpxpress is my good friend who lives only a few roads away from me, which is why our edits are similar (we both actively edit about our local area, and we both love trains, too). I refuse to comment about Wikimapia. GeorgeGriffiths (talk) 21:46, 23 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
He is actually quite right, as you'll see if you view User Talk:Captain Scarlet, then right at the bottom. It has come up before on Wikimapia that we are the same person, but how? It seems unethical! Tpxpress (talk) 21:55, 23 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
CONT. FROM LAST POST Yeah, it's unethical. How? WELL HOW COME BOTH ARE ON AT THE SAME TIME, EDITING AT THE SAME TIME UNDER DIFFERENT I.Ps? Uh? Well? I'll leve you to have a think Tpxpress (talk) 12:34, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I have now been accused of being a sockpuppet of GeorgeGriffiths by Captain scarlet. We have never used the same IP, our contributions are barely similar and we haven't edited the same pages. I don't understand what connection I have with GeorgeGriffiths, I don't know him and I never contacted him until I was accused. I don't even know why I was accused. George888 (talk) 16:28, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi Jeremy, this has appear on my radar. Pretty sure it's George: User talk:86.146.234.84 Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 23:59, 23 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Stop flamin' wastin' your time you people! George888 isn't me. Tpxpress isn't me. And I use many IPs BECAUSE I HAVE MANY COMPUTERS: 1) my laptop 2) dads laptop 3) mums laptop 4) nans computer GeorgeGriffiths (talk) 12:20, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Anyway, there are lots of George's in the world, so stop accusing every single one of them. And anyway, what is it that you've got against me? What have I ever done to you? Hmmm? HMMM? GeorgeGriffiths (talk) 12:19, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Each of your home computers have the same public IP. Your IP today is 86.176.136.159 for instance. I made no reference to your sock-puppet accounts in my comment of the 23 April, I mentioned you logging out to make controversial and arguable contributions, a practice you used on Wikimapia and that I've warned you about on multiple occasions, today being the last time I have. When replying to comments, please have the decency to do so politely. Jeremy and I are a little older than you and we've learnt that shouting isn't the best approach, that includes Wikipedia. Regards, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 17:42, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Jeremy, before I saw George's comment above, I was going to mention Contributions/86.176.136.159, George's IP for the day with which he's been editing his usual articles. I read what you said about SPI and I understand. Since all actions are logged, little should evade our gaze if we are attentive. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 17:42, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Vote rigging

edit

Hi Jeremy, no doubt it hasn't fooled you but you'll notive there is an unsigned vote on Robin Brook AfD. The IP, 91.107.205.247 I have already on my radar, it is GeorgeGriffiths' IP I have on file at Wikimapia. His whois shows: that he is the person that was banned, I can get you a list of IPs George and his sockpuppet accounts have used at any time (and you may cross-reference them with your WP tools). Brutalist apartment blocks in Sheffield

edit

Hi Jeremy, I've started a discussion on the aforementioned article. Would you mind sharing your thoughts on my questions? Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 17:10, 10 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I agree with your comments, there is good content in the article but needs rewording. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 19:22, 10 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
He's been quiet but I won't do anything until at least the weekend. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 07:34, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Taking your points into consideration, I hesitate between Brutalist architecture in Sheffield and, in line with Sheffield district rail rationalisation plan of the 1960s but in an architectural context Rebuilding of Sheffield in the 1950s or something like that; all construction post WWII from the 1950s to 1970s as included in the "Sheffield Replanned" published in 1945 and "Sheffield, Emerging City" publish in 1969 which shows the developments of this reconstruction. What do you think? Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 07:40, 19 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Indeed I was thinking along the lines of Rebuilding of Sheffield in the 1950s and yes, I'd have included the current contents of the brutalist article and put into a social housing section within the twenty-year long rebuilding scheme of the Corporation which includes transport, the city centre, woodlands, energy.. I'll look at a stub over the weekend. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 18:35, 19 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I left a comment on the Dusable talk page and am wondering if you have anymore sourced info about Dusable's wife? Rahm Emanuel page

edit

Hi, Jeremy.

I'm fairly new to editing on Wiki. Apparently I violated a guideline. I wasn't aware of the rules, so here's where I say "I'm sorry."

Thanks for pointing it out to me. What can I do?

Nutshell: Rahm Emanuel's page says his father was a member of the Irgun, listed as "a Jewish paramilitary organization." But Wiki's own listing for Irgun says "Irgun was legally classified as a terrorist organization by the State of Israel in 1948." And it has a link to a book on Google, listing in English the relevant text of the declaration.

I think that labelling a group as "paramilitary" when ISRAEL calls it "terrorist" is a form of political advocacy. Surely that's not what Wiki stands for.

What can I do to work on this? As I said, I'm fairly new to wiki editing. Thanks for your time.

Sheffield Station tram stop

edit

I am ambivilent either way as to whether this page is deleted. But there needs to be some decision as to whether the railway station is an actual direct interchange, and thus should include reference to the tram stop there (as is the case with Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham Snow Hill), or whether, given it has a seperate name, it should also be seperate (as with Station Street in Nottingham).
