Welcome to my talk page! :-) I am Jeffrey! I am also J172 and JeffreyAlphaOne! :)

Hi Jeffreh172, welcome to Wikipedia. Your removal of the link to a website hosting copyright infringing material was in line with policy and appropriate. Thanks for doing so. In future, once you've had more experience here, it might be more appropriate to notify the user who added the link, citing the relevant policy. Anyway, thanks again. --Cactus.man 20:27, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your VandalProof Application

edit

Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Jeffreh172. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank again for your interest in VandalProof. βcommand 05:09, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Adoption Offer

edit

I could teach you some things even though I'm kinda new myself - Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 00:16, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Since you've accepted the adoption, Jeffreh172, I suggest you take away the adoptme template, unless you're still looking for another person to adopt you too (and in that case, it would be useful to say that here, so people looking to adopt will understand that), so that you won't still appear in the category of people looking to be adopted. Keep the "adoptee" template, though. I've been around for more than a year, and I like getting messages on my talk page, so you can both feel free to ask me questions if you like about how to do stuff on Wikipedia. :-) --Coppertwig (talk) 18:43, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks and Welcome

If you need any help just leave a message on my talk page and I’ll get back to you as soon as. I’m pretty new here myself (3 months – 1000 edits) but I think the first thing you should do is to join with a wiki-project that’ll let you do some small edits or small jobs (preferably one of your hobbies or a subject that you’re interested in.) A list of it can be found here WP:PROJDIR or here at Category:WikiProjects. When you’re ready to write your first article you should refer to the Wikipedia:Manual of Style and/or Wikipedia:Your first article – which will help you from getting a Speedy Deletion tag smacked onto your article. (An admin or me as your adopter will also be able to help you any time.) Take a look at any of the Featured articles on the Main page to get an idea on how to write an article. I’m not really an expert on wiki-markup see here for details: Wikipedia:How to edit a page but I’ll be able to help if needed. As for fancy user pages and signatures – I’ll also be able to help but as you can see from my user page it’s very modest. My advice is to copy the user page of an experienced editor and then change the colours and names/ pictures etc, etc to your own ones. The very best can be found here: Wikipedia:User Page Design Center/User page examples

Jeffreh – I can see that you have interest in the line of VandalProof. You should start off with working with Recent Changes and becoming a Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol or a New pages patroller. If you build up experience in catching vandals and identifying copyright infringement without using any type of software – I’m sure .that once you have more experience they will happily let you join. Mostly I tend to leave vandal catching to the more faster and more nimble-fingered wikipedians because every time I find a page created that has noting notable on it I would have to go find the appropriate that and then come back to find it has already been tagged. So I now stick with upgrading articles and working with the Wikipedia:Welcoming committee.

Well if you need help just message me. P.S. Wheever you message anyone on a user talk page you need to use the four tildes (~~~~) Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 01:46, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

De-categorized your talk page

edit

Hi, your talk page was listed in Category:WikiProjects because of the link in the #Thanks and Welcome, so I adapted that link. Also, I find it strange that your userboxes announce that you use Free software as much as possible, but also that you prefer to use Windows... -- StevenDH (talk) 15:39, 4 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations

edit

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal was to gather feedback to help design a tool that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

We are particularly interested in feedback from new editors! We want to make sure this tool meets your needs.

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 23:23, 12 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
