Re:Valparaiso edit

Thank you for your help. The articles are a result of a translation edit-a-thon made on Valparaiso last Friday. If you can help me to fix them, I would appreciate it, as my level of English is regular -- The students put a lot of efford doing this and it would be very disappointing to them having their articles deleted. Help with difficult reader edit

Dear Jarrah Tree, Would you be prepared to advise me on an issue concerning false accusations of the infringement of someone else's intellectual property right? If you do not want to, is there anyone in Wikipedia who I can get support from? Please email me with your answer, and I'll check back here and on my talk page. Many thanks. Hi, you sent me a message about a possible autobiography (on Tad McGeer). That is not an autobiography. It is about someone who is well-known and well-respected in the UAS (unmanned aerial system) space, an area of immense growth right now. Hope that helps you better understand.(GabyAdam123 (talk) 15:04, 3 July 2017 (UTC))Reply

Your photo of Birds over Helena Valley edit

Lovely picture of birds over Helena Valley. Judging by the place you saw them, their long legs, rounded wings, and black and white colouring, I think that they are White-necked heron. SurveyorMJF (talk) 22:16, 7 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Helena River cat edit

Shouldn't Category:Helena River, Western Australia be at Category:Helena River, since the article is at the title without the Western Australia suffix? Graham87 14:28, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

I tend to do the opposite for situations like this ... it's easier that way ... unless there actually is another topic that's worthy of the title! But I'm having great difficulty finding one in this case, especially one that wouldn't be the primary topic ... as it's an important river in a city of almost two million. But if it's going to be disambiguated, shouldn't it have parentheses, like Swan River (Western Australia)? Graham87 14:40, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
And there's also this page move from 2006. Graham87 14:43, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hehehe the Perth mess was at the back of my mind, I'll admit, but I never went anywhere near it when it happened. Re the brackets: I guess so ... but I still wouldn't, unless I'd found *definite* *proof* that there was another Helena River somewhere in the world that was deserving of an article here ... and I haven't. Graham87 14:50, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hah! Unfortunately JAWS doesn't note that text is bold/italic unless I tell it to, so I had to check your diff to figure out what you were trying to do. As for stories about Guide Dogs for the Blind, as far as I'm concerned, blindness services have always been ... interesting here, to the point that I was kinda shocked when I found out we actually pioneered something Australia-wide in that area (i.e. guide dogs). So it'd be interesting to hear stories about how we managed to pull that off. That's all I'll say onwiki. Graham87 15:24, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

New Page Reviewer Newsletter edit

Hello JarrahTree, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

Technology update:

  • Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
  • The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:

G'day sunshine. I'm not sure that adding the cat Nth Adel to Adelaide Park Lands is entirely appropriate. The Parklands surround and divide Nth Adel & the Adelaide City Centre. Why did you feel that adding just the Nth Adel cat was a good idea? Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 12:25, 24 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

bus and tram museum in Perth edit

You might have missed my last comment on my talk page as it was kind of an afterthought not closely related to the prior discussion, so I'll ask it separately here.

You appear to have requested speedy deletion on procedural grounds of Bus Preservation Society of Western Australia in December 2015. The article itself looks like a reasonable start to me, but I have no idea if the content is real or "fake news", nor what the actual background to the deletion was. Is there a comparable article that should be linked from List of museums in Western Australia and other appropriate places instead? Is it the same place as the Perth Electric Tramway Museum (redlinked from Trams in Ballarat) or are they different venues/organisations? --Scott Davis Talk 14:13, 25 July 2017 (UTC)--Scott Davis Talk 14:13, 25 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to put back that comment you removed. It's not too personal, and rather flushed me with memories of as youthful visit to WA back in the early 1960s, which I'm tempted to write a sonnet on? Hello JarrahTree, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Technology update:
