Speedy deletion nomination of Fergus Butler-Gallie

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Fergus Butler-Gallie requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. • Hi. and welcome. We are in constant - not to say desperate - need of new editors in almost every topic. Which is why I while I comment your enthusiasm, I regret that you began writing articles without yet having gotten much of an understanding of what makes a topic notable. Crispin Pailing, for example, may be the most wonderful rector, or may preach the greatest sermons even delivered in English, but even if he actually walks on water during his daily constitutional, we cannot have a page on him unless journalists in WP:RS publications write articles about him. And at least some of those articles would have to be form areas other than Liverpool. The links in the welcome message about will help you learn rules of this sort, but the best way to learn is to begin improving articles that already exist - and asking questions at the Teahouse and of other as you go. I advise you to begin with a topic that your are familiar with and interested in. It might be Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas, Liverpool, a very interesting article that needs Wikipedia:Inline citations. But we have a world of articles many of which need updating and improvement. You could begin with your favorite type of music, a book you loved as a kid, the history of a town you visited once on holiday - the scope is endless. And as you work you will see that we are not being hard on you individually if we delete a page your wrote, we are attempting to build an encyclopedia. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Crispin Pailing, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page British (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Thank you for uploading File:Liverpool Plinth.jpeg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Copyrighted images

edit

Hi, you have indicated that the images File:Liverpool Plinth.jpeg and File:HJesus.jpeg that you uploaded are copyright Liverpool Parish Church (livpc.co.uk), however Wikipedia does not normally allow the use of images which are not in the public domain or do not have an appropriate free license, so they are likely to be deleted. If you do want to use copyrighted images on Wikipedia then you need to fill in detailed non-free use rationale for each image page justifying its use on Wikipedia, and even then if the image is not deemed essential it may be deleted. Therefore, it would be a lot simpler if you just went to the church and took new photographs (at high resolution) of the sculptures, and uploaded them to Wikimedia Commons under an appropriate license. Thanks for your understanding. BabelStone (talk) 11:28, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Stub tags

edit

Hallo, I noticed this edit: please take care not to add {{stub}} to an article which already has a specific stub tag, and please note that all stub tags go at the end, not the top, of the article - see WP:ORDER. Thanks. There's a lot to learn about editing Wikipedia but it's an interesting journey. PamD 06:50, 7 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

A cup of tea for you!

Chin up. You've had a rocky start, but I do hope that you will take a deep breath and continue editing. It can take a while to learn the ropes, so, as I suggested above, start slowly, when you stumble over a rule, pay careful attention to the explanations of how it works, and you will begin to get your sea legs.

I think you can make a real contribution here, and I hope that you will continue to lend a hand. E.M.Gregory (talk) 10:41, 7 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
