An image or media file, File:Alex Russo.jpg, has been removed from your user page, user talk page, or other page because it is licensed as non-free. Wikipedia's non-free content policy states:

Copyrighted images under fair use are only allowed to be used in articles about the subject of the image. For example they are not allowed to be used on user pages, in lists, or (typically) in biographies of living people.

As a result, although users are often given a great amount of latitude in the type of content that is allowed on their user pages, it is requested that you abide by this policy and refrain from including non-free images on your user pages. Feel free, however, to add images and media files licensed under other terms. For more information, see Wikipedia's non-free content policy and an accompanying essay on the removal of non-free images. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. IPA for Italian

I'm guessing that you know this already, since you seem to be the same person discussed at the administrator's noticeboard here and here, but your respellings of Italian words are not in accord with the way we use IPA here on Wikipedia. You've already been directed to Help:IPA for Italian several times; please follow the guidelines there, or you will no doubt be blocked again for disruptive editing. I may even do so myself. Inappropriate use of non-free content.

Please stop adding non-free images to User:IvanScrooge98/Userboxes/WOWP. As was explained above, only a week ago, non-free content can only be used in articles about the subject, and cannot be used on user pages. Despite this, non-free images have been added to User:IvanScrooge98/Userboxes/WOWP twice since then.[1][2] --AussieLegend () 22:14, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Giusi Quarenghi

The article Giusi Quarenghi has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Iamahashtag (talk) 17:19, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Non-free content

Please take a look at WP:NFC in regard to the Mickey Mouse universe and List of Donald Duck characters articles. Many editors are likely to hold the opinion that this use is excessive (see WP:NFCR) and the whole lot are likely to be deleted at any moment.

In particular, they clearly have the wrong licence on them. See this change. Andy Dingley (talk) 12:24, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:RockSassi.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:RockSassi.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. AussieLegend () 17:18, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

X cuisine

Hi, thanks for your edits to French/Japanese/Greek/etc. cuisine, where you've added the translation of the expression "X cuisine" after the article name in the lead. As a general rule, we don't translate descriptive titles of articles (History of France, French verb morphology, French art, etc.) but only proper names of things and events (Court of Cassation (France), Franco-Prussian War, etc.). I suppose if some cuisine had an idiosyncratic name in its own language, e.g., in the L-ian language, L-ian cuisine is called "Cloud Aroma" rather than "L-ian cuisine", it would be worth mentioning, though maybe not in the lead.

Also, as a matter of courtesy and good editing protocol (see, e.g., WP:BRD, WP:EW), if an edit of yours is reverted, it's generally best to go to Talk to discuss it rather than revert back. At the very least, you should explain your edit in the edit summary. --Macrakis (talk) 13:09, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Kindly stop adding translations to XXX cuisine articles until the issue is resolved in Talk. --Macrakis (talk) 23:46, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Selena-Gomez-Revival-Cover.png

Thanks for uploading File:Selena-Gomez-Revival-Cover.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 13:05, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Urtijëi

Please avoid further reverts. The name Ortisei ends with a diphthong. The IPA uses a diacritic to mark a diphthong (see International Phonetic Alphabet#Diphthongs). If Help:IPA for Italian doesn't know about diacritics at all, it's surely not a problem of my correct IPA transcription, but of that page. Flawed help pages can't be an argument for reverts... --Mai-Sachme (talk) 12:55, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Uhm

Sorry, but your IPA transcription of Südtirol is simply wrong. It's a bit weird, that you add IPA transcriptions of words you don't know how to pronounce... --Mai-Sachme (talk) 17:10, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, but it's really simple: If you don't know a word's pronounciation, simply don't add IPA transcriptions, since they could possibly be wrong. I really don't think that we need to discuss that. --Mai-Sachme (talk) 17:21, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

No, you dont know anything about German phonoloy. That is the real problem here... The obstruents /b, d, ɡ, z, ʒ, dʒ/ are voiceless lenis [b̥, d̥, ɡ̊, z̥, ʒ̊, d͜ʒ̊] in southern varieties. Additionally, the pronounciation of Süd and Tirol doesn't add up to a gemination. --Mai-Sachme (talk) 17:26, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

There are northern varieties and southern varieties of Standard German. /s/ and /z/ are allophones. It should be quite obvious, that we don't use the IPA transcription of a northern German variety for Südtirol. Help:IPA for German doesn't forbid anywhere the use of s and doesn't specify anywhere, that northern varieties should be preferred to southern varieties. So what are you talking about?. I'm a bit puzzled. --Mai-Sachme (talk) 17:36, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, but:
  1. German is a pluricentric language. Both forms with either /s/ or /z/ are Standard German. It's useless to mark one of the two as local.
  2. There is no long /y/ in Südtirol in any Standard German. The word Süden has indeed a lenght, but the vowel is shortened in the compound Südtirol.
  3. There is no gemination of t in Südtirol due to a Sandhi effect. --Mai-Sachme (talk) 17:55, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Edit warring

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Syntactic gemination

Re the transcription [*] for syntactic gemination in articles like Po (river), please see the discussion at IPA for Italian. So far, the consensus seems to be that we should not use the [*] notation in this case. Of course, phonological discussions are another matter. --Macrakis (talk) 01:26, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

I have to wonder if you're pulling our legs with the insertion of * for syntactic gemination. Can you give me a plausible example where the book title [il ˈpɛndolo di fuˈko*] would be followed by a word which would be subject to syntactic gemination? --Macrakis (talk) 22:05, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

A better place to discuss than my Talk page is Help talk:IPA for Italian. --Macrakis (talk) 16:50, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 09:08, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
