PBA Tour Bowling 2 sources

Hi! Do you see any more sources for this game? I've searched high and low here. I found this [1], maybe there are some interviews out there. Timur9008 (talk) 08:58, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything you haven't already used. Even the MobyGames review tab is quite dire. IceWelder [] 10:25, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for checking either way! Timur9008 (talk) 06:23, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Belated thanks

Hi, you were a big part of Eidos Interactive getting GA status. But I did not mention you on the talk page at the time, so a belated thank you from me (I am not great a communicating). The credit is equally yours, regards IgelRM (talk) 01:16, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

I wouldn't dare take that much credit! Even though it was on my backlog for quite some time, I only ever got around to writing a very small part of the article. I'm glad someone came around to get it into a proper state. IceWelder [] 10:35, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

openbor notability

for openbor or any other engine with large active modder and userbase, is notability always based on mainstream media coverage? googling openbor and seeing reddit and forum results as well as Emulation General Wiki article shows it is rather famous and active. which media coverage for open source engines count as notable? going through other engines in template might show less famous engines with no mainstream coverage. Mussharraf Hossen Shoikot (talk) 17:46, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

Notability (WP:N) comes from significant coverage in reliable sources (WP:RS). Reddit posts and wikis do not count as reliable sources, for example. Most game-tailored open-source engines tend to be niche in the wider gaming world. OpenBOR is such an engine, I couldn't find any significant material, much less independent from the game project it belongs to, hence no article should exist. This is furthered into its exclusion from the navigation template. If every open source engine was on that list, it would be far, far to long. IceWelder [] 18:36, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

Edit request for DICK's Sporting Goods.

Hi. I am working to update the Dick's Sporting Goods page. You have made significant contributions to the page over the years, so I hope you will consider implementing the edit request I posted at Talk:Dick's Sporting Goods. Thank you, Amanda144 (talk) 14:45, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

I don't really have the time for such projects at the moment. Plus, I only ever touched that article to assist a paid editor who I had already been helping out with a couple others -- and that was more than five years ago. I normally would have suggested tagging the paid edit request as such, but it looks like this has already been done. The queue is not that long and someone with the time and energy to review it will likely do so in due time. IceWelder [] 21:52, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

CS1 error on MachineGames

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page MachineGames, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 21:37, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

343 industries

Apologies for the edit mistake on their page, I have dyslexia and I didn’t notice it. But I feel that their mention should be expanded a bit and reworded better. Is that alright if I alter it a bit? Firekong1 (talk) 22:50, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

No need to apologize; everyone makes mistakes! If you would like to improve the wording of the article, go ahead. IceWelder [] 23:19, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Thank you very much! I’ll get to it! Firekong1 (talk) 16:31, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Tonic Trouble edit reversion

Hi, earlier this week you removed my citation concerning the UK release date for Tonic Trouble for the Game Boy Color. However, this source comes from a prominent retailer, which The Northern Echo themselves called "Britain's biggest independent video games retailer". Could this viably qualify as a good enough source to add to the article under this basis? Venky64 (talk) 23:30, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

The size of the retailer alone should not be the basis for the accuracy of its release dates. I spot-checked a few and found inaccuracies for at least Armored Core 2 ([2]), which Chips claims was almost two months after the release date stated by Eurogamer. Furthermore, even if the date is correct, it might simply be the one on which this retailer received the game, not the wider region. Please run the site by WT:VG/RS first. If consensus says that the dates are fine, I would have no issue restoring the date for Tonic Trouble. IceWelder [] 07:29, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Tomb Raider III marketing budget

Hi! According to this [3] the marketing budget for Tomb Raider III was £10m. Can this be used? I've never heard of this site before. Timur9008 (talk) 08:34, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Never heard of that site either. No staff, no sources, no policies; doesn't really inspire any confidence. Looking up the company (Durlacher Research) doesn't yield anything significant. You can pass it by the project if you feel like it, but I probably wouldn't use it. IceWelder [] 10:46, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors

On 29 January 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Diablo 2: Resurrected sales figures

Hi! Sorry for the double topic but according to this [4] Diablo 2: Resurrected sold 5 million copies. The articles cites a press release that I can't find. Was wondering if you come across this press release. Timur9008 (talk) 07:59, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

It may be that this PR was only circulated via email; Bethesda/ZeniMax did the same with its more recent acquisitions. IceWelder [] 08:38, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Ah. So this source can't be used? Timur9008 (talk) 08:58, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
If the source reporting on this statement is reliable, I see no problem in using it. I've also seen the claim repeated (presumably independently) in other reliable sources. IceWelder [] 09:01, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
I won't use it then. All other sources seem to cite the Windows Central article and Windows Central as a source is used on only 31 articles on Wikipedia. Timur9008 (talk) 09:18, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Windows Central is considered reliable according to WP:VG/RS#Other reliable. IceWelder [] 09:23, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Done added. Wasn't aware it was discussed. Timur9008 (talk) 09:33, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Yodo1

Hi IceWelder. Great work on games-related articles. Please consider add Yodo1 in your watchlist. A lot of COI/UPE editing going on. Cheers! 94.202.127.250 (talk) 10:51, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Looking over the added text, it mostly looks fine, and most sources qualify as reliable per our list. What made you think of UPE exactly? If there are minor NPOV issues, it's usually better to fix those manually than reverting the lot. IceWelder [] 15:11, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

Westlake Interactive + one other thing

Hi! 1) Do you see any more sources for this? I know the page was previously deleted. Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2017_May_14#Westlake_Interactive

I found these

+ the officiall site

2) I found this source [5] (which also includes text from one of the Bethesda press releases that weren't archived :O) Was wondering cau help incorporate this source in the Bethesda Softworks article in Bethesda_Softworks#1990s section (so we can remove the "needs expansion with: Information regarding Daggerfall's launch" template) Timur9008 (talk) 11:41, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

  1. Some trivial mentions per WP:VG/SE, though nothing significant.
  2. That's very cool, but I'm rather short on time at the moment. Feel free to just add some text yourself. :)

Kybos

Hi! Do you know what this is? [6]. I think it's Vortex (Amiga video game) given the year but I can't be sure. Timur9008 (talk) 11:05, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

It sure sounds like it, but the details there are quite limited and the platforms don't match. I couldn't immediately find anything else that mentions this name, though granted I cannot invest a lot time at the moment. IceWelder [] 13:02, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
Well I checked but yeah I found nothing else Timur9008 (talk) 15:20, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

e-Nexus Studios/ZeniMax Productions foundation date URL

Hi! Do you any way to add the exact URL for this ? Its's mentioned here (per the California Secretary of State website business search, if you type ZeniMax four results show up) among them is ZeniMax Productions. [7]

I was gonna add that to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZeniMax_Media#Defunct (to e-Nexus Studios) Timur9008 (talk) 10:36, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

As far as I know, there is no way to do this. What you could do, for example, is to link the PDF document for the incorporation. However, I generally advise against using incorporation dates for foundation dates because many sources consider the start of the business as the founding date, i.e. when you start trading, which does not always match the incorporation date that is merely the legal step. IceWelder [] 11:30, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
ah, nevermind then. Timur9008 (talk) 11:57, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

Finding Nemo game sales

Hi! Do you know what this talks about? [8] (the 7 million figure) I think it means just the original game but I guess it could mean that and the sequel (Finding Nemo: The Continuing Adventure given the "The Finding Nemo video games have been a tremendous hit for THQ at retail? Timur9008 (talk) 17:28, 21 March 2024 (UTC)

? Timur9008 (talk) 11:34, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
Huh, I firmly believed that I already responded to this. Maybe it was a dream? Anyway, the press release seems to only talk about the very first game and makes no mention of The Continuing Adventure, so I'd think the figure only relates to one. IceWelder [] 11:46, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
Done added. Thanks! Timur9008 (talk) 15:17, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

Hello IceWelder,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

Usage of ™

I don't mean to be rude, but the Manual of Style states that ™ and ® should not be used in either article text or citations unless excluding them removes essential context information. Given that citations include references and their titles, and knowing that the Wii brand is trademarked is not essential context information, may I remove it? CoolieCoolster (talk) 13:52, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Reading the guideline more closely, it does indeed say that they should be removed, explicitly, from citation titles. This just happenes to have happened around the same time as the MOS:TITLETYPOCON discussion, about fixing errors in citations, with many reservations about possible preservation issues. I'm wondering whether trademark symbols have the same kind of impact. IceWelder [] 14:29, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Riot Client

Hey, I thought I would add the Riot Client, as it adds information about Riot Games and how they operate, if that's not the right place to add that, could you maybe make something about the Riot Client somewhere, as it helps people know what games require the Riot Client and which games don't. StarStorm10 (talk) 21:37, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia isn't exactly a guide for software requirements. If the Riot Client was notable, and I highly doubt that it is, a list of supported games could be featured there. The Riot Games article focuses on the company's works, and we don't want Leagoe of Legends and Valorant to appear in three separate tables. IceWelder [] 10:29, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Yeah I get that, but it would be a nice feature to add if possible, similar to battle.net, could you maybe try and add it somewhere within that article or another linked article, that information could be useful for people. StarStorm10 (talk) 21:10, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
I will help in any way possible buddy!! StarStorm10 (talk) 21:12, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Maybe add next to the games, if its supported on the Riot Client? StarStorm10 (talk) 00:36, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
I don't think we need anything in this regard. We don't have a list of Ubisoft Connect games, EA Play games, etc. If Riot Client and Riot ID are not notable, we shouldn't artificially push it. You can always open a discussion on the compnay's talk page if you feel strongly about it. IceWelder [] 05:44, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
I see it similar to battle.net, we have a list of games that are supported on battle.net, I just thought It would be valuable information as this is a Wikipedia after all, notable can be subjective to the opinion, I think It's notable because to play the listed games, the Riot Client and Riot ID is required, to the Ubisoft Connect games etc, maybe we should look to add that to the articles? I never make arguments, and I don't want to start now, but why do you keep deleting the work I'm putting in, its really annoying, at least try and meet me halfway here, and please try and add that information to the articles in a way you see fit. (I mean maybe I should create an article regarding the Riot Client in a different page?? what would you recommend me doing, as yes I do feel strongly about this, and would love the information to be there for everyone. StarStorm10 (talk) 11:23, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
can we add a article for the Riot Client like we have for Battle.net or Ubisoft Connect?
would you help me with that? StarStorm10 (talk) 11:38, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
I don't think Battle.net should have a games list either, but see also WP:OSE. Wikipedia is not a technical requirements list either. There aren't nearly enough reliable secondary sources to warrant a separate article for the client (WP:GNG, etc.), so it is not "notable" in that sense. Again, if you want to seek a third opinion, please open a discussion on the article's talk page or the broader video game board. IceWelder [] 11:45, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
but what harm can be done in having next to the games, (notes: Riot Client and Riot ID) StarStorm10 (talk) 11:49, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
I believe it is unnecessary bloat. Next, there would be a column for which games use Vanguard, then which contain microtransactions. IceWelder [] 11:52, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
ok.. I will leave it to you then, I don't know what else to do, I just thought it would be useful information to have a note beside the games of which support the Client. StarStorm10 (talk) 11:58, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
I mean, I did tell you where you could find additional opinions... IceWelder [] 12:00, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
to be fair, your probably right, I just thought it would be nice to have a note next to the games that support the Client, idk... StarStorm10 (talk) 12:07, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

NextEra Energy edits and possible edit request fix

Hi IceWelder, I saw that you recently made a couple of cleanup edits to the NextEra Energy article. I had a request that I think will address one of the tags you left, if you had any interest in reviewing it. I'd really appreciate it if you would take a look! NextEraMatt (talk) 15:14, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi @NextEraMatt. My single edit to NextEra Energy was part of a semi-automated process (using AWB) of disambiguating EQT AB and EQT Corporation. To clarify: I didn't leave any new tags, rather AWB automatically implemented a bypass of the redirect from {{verify inline}} to {{verify source}}. Since energy companies aren't my area of expertise, I'd rather not make significant edits to the NextEra Energy article. I can see that your request is already enqueued in the review line, so it should be reviewed by an interested party at some point. Regards, IceWelder [] 16:03, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
Got it, appreciate the clarification! Thanks for the quick response. NextEraMatt (talk) 19:12, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

Regarding the game article changes you undid

It doesn't make sense if he

ie couldn't buy a of the game; like he couldn't afford it? The following sentence also mentions him acquiring the rights to the game. copy KanyeWestSide (talk) 23:05, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

I think that section is quite clear. He wanted to play the game but his physical copy didn't work and he couldn't find it for purchase anywhere online (it being abandonware). He then got the idea of working with the rightsholder to re-release the game on digital stores, which took several months but ultimately worked out. IceWelder [] 23:10, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

Query

Hi! I am new to Wikipedia, so yeah I am unaware of many policies of Wikipedia. Please tell why only lead composers are mentioned? Doesn't this make Wikipedia's information incomplete? I also saw the same thing happening on the page, Pokémon Sword and Shield. Please tell. Amogh Tripathi (talk) 18:38, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

Please see the documentation for the infobox. The credits fields are captioned with "Add the following credit fields for lead developers" (emphasis added). This has also been the common practice for quite some time. IceWelder [] 18:42, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi! Do you know how much 6 billion Won is? Mentioned here [9] (in Korean)

I'm going to add that to the Cubix page but I want to be sure. Timur9008 (talk) 07:23, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

You can look up historical currency converters online; for example, this one returns just over 4.5 million USD. But you really only need to state the native figure, ideally with the {{SK won}} template. IceWelder [] 10:30, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

Re: Gale Archive

Hi! For some reason it won't let me archive the Bethesda Press Releases. Do you know why that is? I tried The 10th Planet one but it says "Suspicious Activity Detected" Timur9008 (talk) 15:36, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

I was able to archive one yesterday by first resolving the redirect (link.gale.com) to the target link (go.gale.com) and then saving that one. Not sure about the suspicious activity warning, perhaps you were trying too often too quickly and Gale temporarily blocked Wayback's access? IceWelder [] 08:04, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
Still doesn't work for some reason. I've put the Press Releases on the Bethesda Softworks talk page. Can you archive them? Timur9008 (talk) 10:36, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
Should be all backed up. What problem do you have with the archiving process? I use the official browser extension (here, left under "Tools") and so far had little to no issues. IceWelder [] 00:13, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
Thanks! It worked now. Not sure what the problem was.
I've also noticed the Flashpoint Productions press release isn't at the Gale site. Timur9008 (talk) 03:30, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
