Inauguration of Barack Obama FAC4

As the GA reviewer, you may want to comment. FAC4 is getting long in the tooth.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 07:19, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

St. Valentine's Day (30 Rock)

Hey Hunter, yeah it's me again, sorry. I do really mean it. Listen, if time is available in your agenda, can you go over "St. Valentine's Day" and see if everything is in order? If time is not available, I totally understand. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:34, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

No rush, really, I just want to see if I did good or not, so I could improve in the future. This is my first article expansion away from Will & Grace. Thank you... a lot... a whole lot. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 18:25, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for looking it over, I appreciate it. :) I've been debating whether or not to keep the phone call/prayer detail in the plot, part of me says to remove it, but the other part says to keep it because that part is mentioned in all of the episode reviews. Yeah, I'll cut the info. down in the Reception section, I had it like that cause I was in search of reviews. For examples I looked to past 30 Rock articles, I looked at some W & G, and yes even Parks and Recreation. Do you think the Canning quote, the first one and the one you used as an example, would fit better with a quote box? Don't worry, I'll try to do my best with paraphrasing and include one review all together. I have a question, though, in mostly all the reviews everyone seemed "upset" over the whole McFlurry thing in the episode, many thought it was product placement, but Tina Fey said it wasn't, should I put this bit in the Reception? Anyway, thanks again for your help, I'll get right away and fix this. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:48, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Never mind, I "shortened" the quote, so. Alright, I'll add the McFlurry bit, along with Fey's respond to it. I worked on what you suggested, regarding the long quotes, yesterday, I hope I got it. Funny, I was gonna review a P & R article, as a thank you, but totally left my mind. Sure, I'll review one of them. Just let me review the articles I signed up to. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:03, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, Hunter! Now all I need to do is quit procrastinating and get those last four articles up, lol :P The Flash I am Jack's complete lack of surprise 03:49, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Why, I haven't seen a bunch of black kids like that get owned since the American Civil War!

You know, Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride should go through FAC too. Looks quite good; I would be able to give a better review if it was listed. Sceptre (talk) 15:59, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

That's a silly rule. It stops veteran writers like me and you to nominate... although, they may have a point if you're failing for prose... Sceptre (talk) 16:22, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

SP13

I saw your note but I simply got busy and forgot to reply. Ideally, it would be best to copyedit each-other's prose as it would work as a quick PR. I will finish adding and trimming the episode plots this weekend. As for order, until now all of my season FLC noms had all the prose first and then the episodes. But recently there seems to have been a shift in that. I feel it will depend on where it goes: for FAC, a table might look better at the end; for FLC, at the beginning. Although it has 14 entries, the article seems to be heading towards FAC. Nevertheless, putting the table up might work just fine. I guess it will depend on what the reviewers say. Nergaal (talk) 20:28, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

The more SP topics the better! As for FAC, the one nom per editor rule will probably slow things down to make GAN a much better and faster approach. Happy editing! Nergaal (talk) 20:45, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Cameron did not say anything about the smurfs episode? I looked around but could not dig anything. Nergaal (talk) 21:48, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
I am done for now. I went through the text, and asides from a couple of typos everything looked fine. I did notice a few things that aren't yet covered in the text, which I have left as hidden comments in the respective section:
  • writers: are the wrestling teacher, sally worth mentioning that they are introduced (albeit seemingly for 1 episode)? the section does need some notes on the parodies the episodes make: Avatar, LHC, WWE, 2012 paranoia, and perhaps even peeing in water parks
  • music: feels like it needs a note on the Jonas Brothers or the depiction of the crowds they get at the concerts
  • celebrities: James Cameron would be sweet

I also moved the episodes up as I've realized it makes the most sense that way (although right after production seemed fine also). Nergaal (talk) 01:18, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Wanted to ask your opinion

I'm thinking of eventually nominating Naomi Clark for a GA review. It's recently been through the Peer Review process, and has improved as a result of some helpful comments. Since you've done some GA work via the Parks article, I was wondering if you noticed any issues with this one via a quick glance or two. I'm just wondering how close it is to being GA ready. I'd appreciate your time. -- James26 (talk) 13:57, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

I appreciate you being honest (believe me, I can handle criticism, lol). Thanks a lot for your helpful words. -- James26 (talk) 14:29, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Hey again. I don't know if I'm going to nominate it for GA, but do you know of anyone who simply assesses/grades TV-related articles? I left a request on Project Television months ago, but that Project doesn't seem very active. Kind of irks me that the Adrianna article has an assessment while this one doesn't. Just thought I'd see if you knew of anyone who I might refer it to. If not, no problem. Thanks. -- James26 (talk) 22:38, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
To avoid any bias on my part, I'll just wait and let it be assessed by the Project or whatever. Thanks. -- James26 (talk) 23:47, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Health care reform in the United States should be a Good Article

You mentioned that you were interested in promoting Good articles at WP:OBAMA, and this seems like an article which is well overdue for that status (and more). I haven't edited the article as of yet, but I was quite impressed with it. If you're interested I'm sure you could do much to help it on its way. Mike Serfas (talk) 02:04, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Regarding Julie Benz on DH

Hi there. About Julie Benz and her guest sting on "Desperate Housewives", she was originally contracted for three episodes, and later four, as in her contract would be expanded. Meaning she can still be on more episodes, and I'm pretty sure she will be, since those first four episodes have been shot already (two have aired and one will air next week) and she is still promoting the series in talk shows and there has been no sign of her departure from the show's cast as of yet. Rumor has it she'll have a permanent role throughout the end of the season, and the casting call for that character specified she would appear in 5-7 episodes. Therefore I think we should keep the "string of guest appearances" instead of the "string of four guest appearances". - Renaboss (talk) 09:58, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey, Hunter!

Thanks for your time, and I understand your problem. Basically, unlike Hollywood, film news articles are few mand far between - and those coming in newspapers (except The Hindu and Times of India and a couple more) don't seem to be to reliable either. I'll rank the following websites in reliability and write a bit about them.

The rest are very here and there, though the fast two could pass for reliable.

Home Movies

Hiya, Hunter. I was wondering if you can see if you can find any ratings information (or any information at all) on Adult Swim's comedy Home Movies? In particular, reviews and ratings from the days when it was on UPN and the finale. Cheers, The Flash I am Jack's complete lack of surprise 23:06, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Just wondering, have you been able to find anything? The Flash I am Jack's complete lack of surprise 22:54, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Alright, but just an update: I've just come across several Broadcast & Cable articles from '99 that have ratings info on almost all five of the series' original UPN episodes! (turns out they were way lower then I thought, lol) So, there's no rush for that info, I'm settled for now. Still, though, I'm a total n00b when it comes to ratings; I'm revising the pilot, so can you tell me if you know what a 1.4/2 Nielsen Rating translates to in numbers? Cheers, The Flash I am Jack's complete lack of surprise 01:52, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

I happen to be a fan of Star Trek...if you really want to know. That's why I compare episodes from another TV show with any of the Star Trek episodes of the same title. AdamDeanHall (talk) 21:09, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive

WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Hope we can see you in April.

Apologies

It was sloppy of me to refer to Parks and Recreation (season 1) as "unimportant" in the FAC discussion—particularly as I'm the primary author of a certain featured article that gets fewer than ten hits per month. I was trying to make a point about how professional style varies quite widely from topic to topic, and messed up. I do think the article is in fine shape, and I hope it passes. All the best, Dan.—DCGeist (talk) 12:55, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 March newsletter

We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly.   Hunter Kahn (submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B.   TonyTheTiger (submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Although unrelated to the WikiCup, April sees a Good Article Nominations backlog elimination drive, formulated as a friendly competition with small awards, as the Cup is. Several WikiCup contestants and judges have already signed up, but regular reviewers and those who hope to do more reviewing are more than welcome to join at the drive page. If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Your GA nomination of How About a Friendly Shrink?

The article How About a Friendly Shrink? you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold  . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:How About a Friendly Shrink? for things which need to be addressed. Herman Lamm

Hi, Sorry about not citing the Lamm info. I've never posted on Wikipedia before and was still in the process of trying to figure out how to do citations. I should have practiced on that before posting changes.

The birth date and place of Lamm is documented on his WW1 draft registration card filled out June 5, 1917 while he was in jail in Utah. This is a public record.

His conviction for Grand Larceny is public record from the Utah State Prison.

The cause of death is the official report of the coroner's jury in Sidell, Ill. This is documented in several newspapers. There are conflicting claims in other newspaper accounts, but the official coroner's jury report is self-inflicted wounds. I have to dig out the newspaper stories that cite that.

There is actually a great deal I can and will add, but I will need to take time and learn the Wikipedia system first.
