Good Evening edit

Hello, I do not believe that we have met. I saw your involvement in the Kindness Campaign and I wished to express my gratitude towards you for your great contributions to Wikipedia and spreading cheerfulness. -- EinsteinMC2

Thanks! edit

Thanks! I picked out the RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar. I appreciate the recognition; you can see it shining bright in my gallery. -- Essjay · Talk 07:02, August 27, 2005 (UTC)

kindness association edit

oops, my bad edit

Ooops, most terribly sorry, using too many tabs, got wrong one, my bad. Alf 20:36, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • Talking to User talk:Kevinb3, used nearest edit (your welcome created it) did message, saved, or so I thought. Alf
    • aah, your next down in the talk page history, musta taken a left, prob on comparing edits screen, was looking to see what happened to my message to him there I'd put earlier. Alf 20:47, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Nope, not my bad! I go to User talk:Kevinb3, I click the nearest edit, the one your message created... I go to Editing Template:WelcomeH1 (section)!!. Alf 20:55, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • Tried it again, it edits 'template', not 'talk page'! Alf 21:00, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
    • I fixed that by copying your welcome raw and editing his user talk page from 'top', pasting back your welcome et al., added my message and Bob's your uncle. Please feel free if you wish to repipe a link to your welcome template from his page, if you wish. Alf 21:18, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

criminal behavior edit

You are engaged in criminal behavior, notably, the spreading of actionable libel published without attribution, despite the actions of many responsible Wikipedians to remove it under the policy that specifically exists for this.

You should lose all editing priveleges permanently for your recent behavior.

You and your friends have no right to expose Wikimedia to liability as you do.

RE:WCC edit

I should calm down. I will remove the WikiEnemies. I should have been clear on what offended me. Also, what's this dude talking about?--Anti-Anonymex2Come to my page! I've gone caliente loco! 20:39, 29 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

WelcomeH1 edit

K, I moved that template. And don't feel dumb that you didn't know that user pages can do that, when Essjay told me I was like WTF?! Redwolf24 (talk) 23:29, 29 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
I do have to delete it eventually. Go to every page and write Subst: in front of it (use what links here) the subst: will work on redirected templates. Go do that, then lemme delete it. Hey look at the bright side, you get 100 free edits ;) Redwolf24 (talk) 23:31, 29 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

My edit to your user page edit

From my talk page:

You updated the vandal counter, was that for you "vandalising" it. Howabout1 Talk to me! 22:12, August 30, 2005 (UTC)

Well, yes, and the fact that I changed your counter might technically count as vandalism itself. Father, please forgive me. --Lord Voldemort (Dark Mark) 12:42, 31 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar edit

Thank you very much for the kind words. They're much appreciated. Is there any edits/work I did you found specifically worthy of a barnstar. I prefer it if barnstars have a relation to work I've done that others liked. - Mgm|(talk) 20:10, August 31, 2005 (UTC)

  • I've added a regular barnstar to my userpage (Didn't have that one yet) and gave general helpfulness as the reason you thought I should have it. Feel free to correct me if you need to. - Mgm|(talk) 07:46, September 1, 2005 (UTC)

WelcomeH1 edit

Now do the subst: thing. I made it so the tildes don't convert. Of course if you're too lazy, I'll gladly do it... free edits :) Redwolf24 (talk) 22:11, 3 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Could you head over to Talk:MythBusters and contribute to the debate on why some MythBusters cast/crew can have their external pages linked, but not others?

Sig edit

You might want to check the "raw signatures" box on preferences, unless it is like that on purpose. Howabout1 Talk to me! 03:13, September 13, 2005 (UTC)

Ohhh..... (I was foncused at first). Yeah it's checked! You dont find that clever? Notice how it links to my userpage (with Esperanza), then talk, then contribs, then e-mail? Of course that's intentional, but thanks for the concern. If you notice the code, you'll see how extensive the wikimarkup is (2 nowiki tags, etc.), and I'm trying to think of a better sig, but this is all I'm able to imagine now. Perhaps it might be better outside of a wiki environment, where it would be a reference to the wiki, instead of someone like yourself thinking it was unintentional. Again, thank you for your concern, and happy editing. -Mysekurity e-mail 03:20, 13 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Glad you like it (do you like it?) and thank you for taking a caring tone to my conundrum. I'm glad you added yourself back to Preisthood, but please don't leave too soon! You're a fine editor, and I'm sorry that the wiki is not as interesting as it once was. As a member of Esperanza, I feel I must ask "how come?", but as a caring soul, I'll ask "what can I or someone else do to make it better?" I hope it will be a while before I feel the same way you do (about leaving, that is), and would like to know if there is anything at all I could do to make it more exciting for you. I might sugguest a wikibreak——but not too long, please!—— to renew that creative spirit that got you involved here in the first place. Good luck with your life, liberty and the persuit of happiness, and happy editing. -Mysekurity e-mail 03:34, 13 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

The charter is here. (Relating to Esperanza) edit

Hello Howabout1, the Charter for Esperanza is up. Take a looksie :) Redwolf24 (talk) 02:39, 19 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Esperanza made less bureaucratic edit

Hello again, I have (unilatterly) taken away the 'assembly' idea, as per my reasons at that edit summary and per Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Charter. I have left the admin general, as some leadership is good. Now, all you have to do is be a member to establish consensus, the whole assembly idea is gone. Also, I have added an advisory committee, of four members, with limited power besides watching over the admin general and making sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Please look at the ammended charter, and I would love a comment. Redwolf24 (talk) 00:13, 21 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

The last time I'm spamming you all with Esperanza stuff edit

Hello Howabout1. As you may or may not know, there have been some troubles with Esperanza. So now, as a last ditch to save the community, please vote at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Reform on all neccisary polls. P.S. I'm very sorry for spamming you all with these messages, and this will be the last time. I recommend putting ESP on your watchlist. Cheers and please look at that, let's stop the civil war then. Esperanza elections edit

Hi Howabout1/Archive5: This is a quick note just to let you know that there's an election under way at Esperanza. If you'd like to become a candidate for Administrator General or the Advisory Council, just add your name here by 15 December 2005. Voting begins at 12:00UTC on 16 December.

You've received this spam because you signed up for it here. To stop the spam, pop over and remove yourself and you'll never hear from Esperanza again!

Hey, Howabout1! edit

I noticed it, too. You left Wikipedia very shortly after I first started editing, but I still run in to your signature all the time. You must have been a pretty good Wikipedian in your day. --TantalumTelluride 20:31, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yep, welcome back. Take your time getting re-adjusted. There has been some crazy stuff happening here recently, and things have been a little nuts. Just stay calm and don't get too involved with anything contentious at first. It will only make you nuts and drive you to leave. Oh well, on a more positive note, we're glad you're back. :-) --LV (Dark Mark) 03:43, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Filling you in on the last four months or so edit

There are a few things you need to know. Here are a few major changes in Wikipedia policy/culture since you stopped editing regularly. Some other users might help me by adding to this list. --TantalumTelluride 05:19, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

The story behind the edit counter edit

As you probably know, Kate was not very interested in being a part of the Wikipedia community. She put an "indefinite wikibreak" notice on her user page on 9 November 2005 [1] and shortly thereafter explained that she had been contributing only because of her fascination with the technical aspects of the project. [2] Shortly after she left, there was some sort of hardware problem with the toolserver that supported Kate's tool. Before long, Flcelloguy and Interiot both created alternative edit-counting tools. At first, they were just primitive substitutes for Kate's tool, but Flcelloguy and Interiot quickly began adding new convenient features to their edit counters. After the toolserver was fixed, Interiot put up a version of his edit counter and continued improving it. He even recently combined it with his contribution tree, which breaks down edits by namespace and page title. Flcelloguy and Titoxd have also been improving their edit counter, but I don't use it because it's too technical relative to Interiot's. Anyhow, you can contact any of the users involved or more information about the technical details of their tools. By the way, there are a few monobook.js scripts that incorporate Interiot's tool. The one I use is at User:Haza-w/Interiot user counter. --TantalumTelluride 18:39, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Welcome back edit

Nice to see you around again. One new thing that TantalumTelluride did not mention that I can think of is the new Category:Living people. It was put in by Jimbo, partly because of the Seigenthaler controversy, to solely keep track of every single biography article of living persons. Naturally, someone put it in CFD, but it was kept because it was an edict from Jimbo. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 19:58, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
