RE:Orphaned non-free media (File:Logo, Ateneo de Ponce.jpg)
DELETE this one NOW also; it too was an error upload. Thanks. Mercy11 (talk) 12:44, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:The Malay Dilemma front cover.jpg)
Due to the internet issues, I accidentally uploaded twice for this picture. Actually this file will be used in The Malay Dilemma's infobox book. Esther Siaw (talk) 07:18, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:Daniel Savio - Eyeballs On The Street.ogg)
A different audio example has replaced the above to clearly and in a verifiable way illustrate the technical point being made on the Daniel Savio page. Please do delete (File:Daniel Savio - Eyeballs On The Street.ogg). Accountboy (talk) 10:09, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

This was used to illustrate the article Cyberiad, being cover of the British edition of the book. It has now been replaced by the Polish first edition cover, so presumably is no longer wanted and can be deleted. Chemical Engineer (talk) 07:30, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Hazard, re: orphaned Strudyna logo. the file was too large to use in the strudyna wikipage. so I uploaded a smaller one which currently in use. thus, yes, thiis "jpg" can be auotmatically deleted after 7 days. Many thanks!
origianl message- Orphaned non-free media (File:Strudyna logo.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Strudyna logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Page Curation newsletter - closing up!
Hey all :).
We're (very shortly) closing down this development cycle for Page Curation. It's genuinely been a pleasure to talk with you all and build software that is so close to my own heart, and also so effective. The current backlog is 9 days, and I've never seen it that low before.
However! Closing up shop does not mean not making any improvements. First-off, this is your last chance to give us a poke about unresolved bugs or report new ones on the talkpage. If something's going wrong, we want to know about it :). Second, we'll hopefully be taking another pass over the software next year. If you've got ideas for features Page Curation doesn't currently have, stick them here.
Again, it's been an honour. Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 12:02, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Bug!
See [1], I don't believe that this file should be tagged. mabdul 06:27, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
- Why not? The file is labelled as non-free, and no pages on the English Wikipedia link to the file (according to the file usage). Hazard-SJ ✈ 02:28, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
- But also PD-ineligible-USonly which is - by definition - free and should be kept for the file history. The only reason why it isn't moved to Commons is that Australia seems to have other laws... mabdul 14:18, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
- The file is included in Category:All non-free media. Checking for that category seems to be a good criterion for determining if a file is free or unfree. There will always be some overlap between Category:All non-free media and Category:All free media, for example because of {{photo of art}}. It's really the uploader's responsibility to make sure that the file has correct tags. An orphaned photo of a statue should be deleted even if it appears in both Category:All free media and Category:All non-free media. --Stefan2 (talk) 21:26, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- So I believe I can say no change is needed then? Hazard-SJ ✈ 04:11, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

My picture about to be deleted?
Hello, Hazard-SJ. You have contacted me to let me know that my picture "The_Radio_Rats_'Into_the_Night_We_Slide'.jpg" is about to be deleted because it is orphaned, but it is being used — in the article "Into the Night We Slide". Or have I got it wrong? There was at least one that I first used that I replaced because I uploaded it in the original size. Maybe I'm getting mixed up, so please let me know. - Hello. According to what I'm seeing, the file was uploaded over 24 hours before you actually placed it on the article, and my bot tagged it while it wasn't in use (over 20 hours before you actually used it). However, I have untagged it, seeing that you are using it now, and that the other file you uploaded is also up for deletion (also non-free). Hazard-SJ ✈ 03:50, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, again (what do I call you, Hazard-SJ?). Thanks for doing that. Although I set up my first page back in May or so, and this is the second, I'm not used to photos, so I probably did wait before using it on the page — I find the Wiki copyright details and rules very complex, and was trying to sort that out. Another question I have for you is that I eventually put a question regarding the copyrights up on the Village Pump, I think, and had a few replies. I want to write back to one of them. I've been looking for this post. Are you able to find it (on October 12th) for me or tell me how to do it? I'd really appreciate that. Page Curation update
Hey all :). We've just deployed another set of features for Page Curation. They include flyouts from the icons in Special:NewPagesFeed, showing who reviewed an article and when, a listing of this in the "info" flyout, and a general re-jigging of the info flyout - we've also fixed the weird bug with page_titles_having_underscores_instead_of_spaces in messages sent to talkpages, and introduced CSD logging! As always, these features will need some work - but any feedback would be most welcome.
Go ahead an delete it.

bot adding user talk pages to WikiProjects
Hi, I noticed this and thought you should know. Sorry if this has been mentioned before and fixed. --John Vandenberg (chat) 02:51, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- Wow, thanks for showing this to me. It hasn't been mentioned before, though I can say that there is a reason for that edit. It was in the category the bot generated the list for (see this (focus on categories at the bottom like Category:WikiProject Chicago articles). However, I think it would be good to restrict the bot to editing only talk pages (of all but the User namespace). I'll review the code and see what I can do. Hazard-SJ ✈ 16:28, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
This is not a newsletter
Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.
In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all there :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 11:00, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned files
Hello. I have recieved a bunch of warnings on my talk page from Hazard-Bot, concerning files that were uploaded by me and are currently supposedly orphaned, meaning that they is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. I dont really understand though, as all of the files are in use on their articles (mostly about football clubs) and have been since the day they were uploaded. Looking forward to your response. Ratipok (talk) 12:23, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, by a check I just did, none of the files are in use (see the "File usage" section at the bottom of each file description page), and they all seem to be tagged with {{non-free logo}}. Hazard-SJ ✈ 02:31, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
Hello. I am not sure exactly if I understand what is the problem. I have checked all logos/files and I see under "File usage" that they are in use in at least one Wiki article. Example; [File:NK Maribor 2012 logo.gif] in its "file usage" it says that its in use; The following pages on the English Wikipedia link to this file (pages on other projects are not listed):
And every other logo/file as well. PS: The NK Maribor logo is actually located in a GA article and no one had any problem with it during the article's PR and later GA review. ? Ratipok (talk) 13:05, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Is it possible for you to give an idea of where on the article? Also, they have already been deleted, and generally, I'd expect that the administrator would have checked before deleting. Hazard-SJ ✈ 03:31, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I've made a mistake. I wasn't trying to upload any new file but to upload a smaller version of an already existent file, as requested here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Horrible_Histories_BAFTA_win_2011.png. Orphaned non-free media notices
Hi, I've been receiving a lot of these sort of notices from your bot lately. The reason being that I went through a lot of non-free images a while ago and resized them to a much smaller version so that they might better suit the licensing requirements for non-free images. In doing so, the older version eventually gets deleted along with the original uploader's information. So while I don't care for these notices, and I won't even try to make an argument for keeping these unfree images on wiki, it would be nice if the original uploader could somehow be notified. I realize this probably isn't possible, I just wanted you to know. Also, might there be some way to opt-out of receiving these sort of notices? I've posted a message about it at the top of my talk page a long time ago, but is there a way maybe you can just add me to the "do-not-leave-a-notice-list"? Thanks -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 22:19, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hello. There is a list of users not to notify stored in the source code, and I have added you to it, so you shouldn't be notified further. Also, you could have used {{bots}}. Hazard-SJ ✈ 04:12, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I checked my talk page, and I actually had a {{bots|optout=orfud, norationale, replaceable}} at the top of my talk page. So I'm not sure why I was still receiving these notices. Thanks anyways. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 18:46, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Carmen Sandiego images
Hi. Your bot Hazard-Bot recently tagged a series of images which were previously on the article Carmen Sandiego's Great Chase Through Time. They were hidden in the article while the non-freeness of most of them is being sorted out. The images still have lots of great information, and the article is set to undergo a copyedit really soon - so hopefully that will provide some answers regarding what we should do. (Note I sent it in for a per review also, but noone jumped at the chance to look it over. I request that the deletion notices get removes or altered while this situation is being sorted out.
An example image is: File:Rock Solid in Case 10.jpg.
The main problem is that I umbrellaed all the images under non-free when in all honesty that is not entirely true. Many of them, I would be able to obtain the rights to use, while others I have already been given the rights to use. I am not the most well versed person in the art of uploading images however, so that is where I have fallen short. Also, every single non-free file was deleted, when in truth you are allowed to have some, just as long as you do not add too many. Therefore, I think a thought-out discussion over which images should stay to best convey the subject matter would do the article much more god than blindly deleting them all.--Coin945 (talk) 13:40, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, how was it being sorted out? Was there an entry at Wikipedia:Non-free content review? By the way, yes, you are allowed to have some based on Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. Hazard-SJ ✈ 21:39, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Image file issue
Hi, I have a technical issue with an uploaded image file, but don't know where to ask about it. It's a non-free media file, White Lovers (CD+DVD).jpg, a cover of a music recording. Problem is, the image is not compressed by Thumbnail, and because of that it can't be use in the article. I uploaded it second time, again not compressed. Before that file, uploaded another cover image, White Lovers (CD).jpg, of the same size (300 x 300) and from the same source page, and everything's fine. Thanks in advance, best regards.--Shurin (talk) 18:03, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
