A cup of tea Arvind Kejriwal page

Hi Harsh,

I personally agree with your point of view, but those allegations are one of the small activities undertaken by Arvind. Since giving sections/sub sections to each small activities will result in excessive detail which would not be fitting encyclopedic article. His point of view are very patriotic in nature and I too support his ideologies but this as I said earlier is not what a encyclopedic article should talk about. Hope you will understand my point of view, if still you feel that the article needs some changes we can always have a debate on it. Ekaagar (talk) 14:59, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Your tip of the day is in use!

Thank you for your contribution of the wikEd tip. It is now included in the set of daily tips, and will appear on June 23rd every year until it is replaced. It has also been added to the list of the dozen most essential tips that appears every January 26.

I've posted an announcement about the tip, with links, at Wikipedia talk:Tip of the day#Posted tip by Harsh 2580.

Thank you! The Transhumanist 19:08, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

P.S.: The June 23 slot may be included in other tip lists. I will check those as soon as I can. Oh yes, and its name and placement needs to be updated in the tip library.

P.P.S.: The entire set of tips are being proofread/revised, to coincide with the main tip of the day template being placed at the bottom of the recently revamped Wikipedia:Community portal. (Previously, it was integrated into the columnar formatting of that page's old design).

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews

Hello Hako9. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Hi Harsh 2580

Hi Harsh, I got a message from you regarding a change in [[1]]. It wasn't a mistake, I'm a student of the same school and therefore I wanted to add some information about admissions in RPVV schools as a lot of people are crazy to get admission in RPVVs but they don't know how much seats are available. For example: 70 seats are available for standard 6th, 35 for 11th and sometimes there are 5 seats for 9th and sometimes no seats are available. Let me elaborate, the schools has no 5th standard therefore they need 70 students, 35 per section, to get admission in the school. As there are 70 students in 10th and they need 3 sections (for science, commerce and arts) they need 3 more students. But in the case of standard 9th the seats are available only if any student left the school in standard 6th, 7th or 8th. I've some more edits regarding this page but let's improve the admission's section first.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aditya.XMR (talkcontribs) 10:56, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi,

You removed a para and replaced it with a word "test". So it was filtered by Huggle and reverted by me. You can edit the article again, but I recommend that you preview the changes before saving it. Harsh (talk) 11:05, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

About YU

Hello Broda why did you merged YU smartphones with Micromax. It's a complete new division, has no relation with Micromax. Just because of that YU has its own Website and Separate Facebook page also separate twitter account please look here http://www.yuplaygod.com/ https://www.facebook.com/yuplaygod https://twitter.com/yuplaygod

Sorry don't be feel bad, 'm just a beginner @ Wikipedia. I donno much about its Vivid policies of writin' an article. but plz provide me at least reason of Merging.

THankin' YoU.

Hi,

I merged the article for several reasons per WP:MERGE and WP:SPLIT and WP:CONTENTFORK. Both of the articles are under the same scope, the article on YU is perhaps not notable in itself to have a standalone article and also at this point, the article cannot be sufficiently expanded upon to have a standalone article. Harsh (talk) 19:25, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Also, facebook, twitter and primary sources aren't considered as healthy and independent sources on Wikipedia. So they have little or no significance in determining notability or importance on Wikipedia. If you still think I've made a mistake, then you can start a discussion and form a consensus on the talk page of Micromax Mobile or request a help on WP:HELPDESK. Harsh (talk) 19:46, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanx For Your Guidelines

Hello Thanx,

I was watching the launch event of YU. According to Micromax's Co-Founder Rahul Sharma it is a new project called YUREKA but still I don' have proper resources that claims its differs with Micromax Co. So I would like to wait till exact announcement from Micromax and YU through newspaper or any other reliable sources.

Also Broda you are coming from Commerce background and workin' over Wikipedia which is far away from your field of excellence that is truly awesome deserves THOUSAND STAND SALUTES. AS you have OCD that makes me happy cuz every time you must be looking towards excellence. I like to take this from you for perfection in my Work.

With the present significant coverage on the yureka phone, I think it will be appropriate to start a draft article on the phone itself (but perhaps not on the brand YU), if you wish. The phone has reliable/significant and abundant sources to have an article. You can go to Wikipedia:Article wizard and create a draft with the title Micromax Yureka. I can help, whenever I get sufficient time. Harsh (talk) 09:41, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Hello TWL users! We hope JSTOR has been a useful resource for your work. We're organizing a cleanup drive to correct dead links to JSTOR articles – these require JSTOR access and cannot easily be corrected by bot. We'd love for you to jump in and help out!

Article I2Pd deletion

Sorry I can't reply there anymore. "The point I made was, blogs aren't considered a reliable source. "

Why are you calling them as blogs? They are online and offline magazines with readers and subscribers. allunix.ru softsettings.com sysadmins.ws linsoft.info, etc. The actual point you have made was "all these sources are in Russian, so they can't be considered reliable". — Preceding unsigned comment added by I2porignal (talkcontribs) 02:11, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Hey, I apologise again if you think that I assessed the sources as not reliable based on the fact that they are in a language which isn't English. That is not true. The sources can be in any language. I suggest that you read WP:REFUND and request that the article be userfied. In this way, the article history will remain intact along with all the content previously written by everyone. It could be moved to draft space, where you can improve the article in any way you want and then republish the article. Harsh (talk) 15:49, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

Your RfC !vote

Hi - I hope my comments in the RfC did not somehow make you feel improperly compelled to change your !vote or WP:BLUDGEONed in some way. It's sometimes a fine line between debate and bludgeoning so I just wanted to make sure nothing I said made you feel strong-armed and, if it did, I hope you'd not be afraid to change you !vote back to Include. Thanks and my apologies if I said something inappropriate. Chetsford (talk) 22:55, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

@Chetsford: Oh absolutely not. I had to change the vote because the policy is very clear for BLPCRIME. The only room for interpretation is in the LPI guideline. By the way, I never knew I'd put in so much time researching about an adult movie actor. - Harsh 23:03, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

your comment irt Jigsaw_(power_tool) on 0albannabla0 page

Hello Harsh, thanks for helping and leaving a message on my page. I have been trying to merge these two pages since they were really redundant and there have been already two discussions over 5 years, plus one was stub. As you have guessed, I am quite new, but I was keen to help and this seemed the right thing to do, but it was my first merge so I may have botched it. Very sorry. I actually thought I succeeded, but presently you have undone my merge so the two pages are now identical (which made them even more redundant!) please I would appreciate if you could fix this. the pages are Jigsaw_(power_tool) and Jigsaw_(tool). thanks!

Hi @0albannabla0: , First of all thank you for your edits and trying to improve wikipedia. I wrongly assumed your edits to be unconstructive. I'll surely help with the merge. Just give me a few minutes to check whether there is anything worth salvageable in the article before I redirect it. - Harsh 05:06, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Undisclosed Paid Editing Amongst Nigerian Editors

Following your comment in this AFD, you are very much correct. The blatant UPE/COI is very glaring & no matter how you try to explain things to some of my Nigerian co-editors they would not listen because they have a vested interest in the creation of that article. Look at the earlier draft of that article: Draft:Tobi Kukoyi, which I rejected here. You’d notice it was created by a different editor who was oblivious of the fact that very promotional articles aren’t welcome here and after I rejected it, a 'more experienced editor' who knows just how to fly under the radar recreates the article. If I were to make an educated guess I’d say the subject of the article is the one herself contacting editors to create a Wikipedia article for her. The undisclosed paid editing ring amongst my co Nigerian editors is exponentially growing. I have gone on to draw a table in that AFD as seen here but watch as the editor would still argue, why? they have a vested interest & there’s only so much we can do. Seeing as almost all genuine Nigerian editors have all gone dormant/inactive. Furthermore “Ranting” is a very common practice amongst UPE editors, they try to look as though they are being bullied or bitten & “cry for help” then subconsciously other editors & even Admins who should know better fall for their antics/theatrics. hCelestina007 (talk) 12:04, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

@Celestina007: Oh believe me, my fellow Indians aren't far behind with the COI edits. At the very least, this editor knew they need to request an AfC first. The backlog on Special:NewPagesFeed is usually riddled with articles failing to meet a shred of notability. I really commend you for not letting the article just pass by because of the 'more experienced editor' who tried to sneak it through and I can only understand your frustration in trying to explain things to ContentBI. I do think you made a mistake by engaging with the editor though. They usually keep arguing and wasting everyone's time in the AfD's. But anyways, AfD participation is a thankless job. But quite necessary. Thank you for the message. - Harsh (talk) 20:20, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
