Why did you delete my post in the Man Vs. Wild page? edit
The information that he divulges in the show can KILL you. Discovery does not mention that anywhere. People should know these things.
As a survivalist I'm disgusted in the fact that Discovery Channel's attorneys don't cite these matters before each episode.
People have a right to know that they are being misinformed.

Pripyat edit
Apart from being part of nuisance promotional campaign of a suspected vaporware (the game was delayed fo like several years ad released 2 weeks ago, so it is hardly part of "popular culture" yet) spamming numrous articles with its references I keep deleting, it is part of my broader position that only significant cultural references deserve mentioning (a general "notability" principle of wikipedia), e.g., those playing important role in the plot, not occasional encounters. (When I was younger (2 years ago :-) I used to write in edit summaries "we don't list all movies where someone said "oh shit" in shit article; now I write (when I don't forget) "we don't list all novels and films where people happen to eat in the spoon artile"). `'mikka 15:28, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- Best selling: I am wondering how many new games are on sale these weeks. Of course a new game which was buzzed about for 5 years is hot cookies the first days. Let's see annual sales first. Now back to Pripyat. I looked into the main source, the original game description page Zone World and see no Pripyat there, so I guess it is hardly a notable fact. Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Characters in World War Z, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hi there! Your edits are much appreciated, particularly the column arrangement of refs. As you probably noticed, the article's getting a massive overhaul, and in the not-too-distant future will have to be split. Do you know how to do that without damaging the history?
Also, do you know how to do that clever stuff where a single reference can be multiply targeted? I ask because I'm a rather elderly dog and these are all new tricks (in other words, I'm a wikignoramus)... Haploidavey (talk) 14:14, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the thanks! I, unfortunately, am not very skilled in the splitting arts. I do know how to do the multiple source-thingie, but I think that in this case, because the citations all involve different pages (of a book), they should remain separate. I'm cleaning everything up now, though, so it should look good soon (the multiple-dealie is better for websites and sources that don't actually use page numbers). - Graham! Just had a glance (OK, a thorough scrutiny) of Gladiator. Great editing there - re-arrangement obviously good solution when you actually see it done (I've been working too long on it and lost sight of the whole). I'll not presume too much, but you may have read the talk page - last third or so - re: proposals for splitting off sections currently duplicated (but embryonic) in Wiki: especially "Female Gladiators". Likewise, "Emperors as gladiators" needs substantive re-write and further citation asap (which I'll happily do): and perhaps could go under "gladiators" sub-heading? (On second thoughts, I'm not even sure that the Commodus material needs to be there in such detail: maybe a wiki link to the wiki article on him, which covers most of this stuff). - I'll get to the rewrites soon; I was able to clean up "Emperors as Gladiators" a little just by fixing the citations, but you're exactly right - it needs much more work. That whole section might be better off integrated into the article, or possibly we could pull some material from the earlier sections and do like a "Patronage" section. Also, my apologies for completely changing what I now realize was an established system of citation. No consensus, nothing... - I sliced a lot out of the "Emperors as Gladiators" but think just a line or two might do. Mind you, he showed such an atypical and extravagant disregard... The "games" and "combat" is in dire need, and demands real severity. I'm also very, very doubtful about some of the popular publications reference. The (your) refs style is not a problem. "I'm Oxford, you're Harvard" post edit: uuugh!! that sounds so la-dee-dah! but I'll leave it in for hilarity. Haploidavey (talk) 09:53, 4 March 2009 (UTC); nothing wrong with either. Hi. The addition of the ribbons is, as you admitted, inconsistent with other articles, but also it clutters up the infobox and is not particularly necessary to convey the information. - Hello - I would tend to agree with the above - particularly as most of the articles you were adding the infobox ribbon images too already had the ribbon's displayed in the main text. The images in the infobox tend to clutter and distort the presentation. PalawanOz (talk) 11:57, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Please read WP:DAB; piping is not allowed on disambiguation pages. It is the way we have agreed to display pages, and it is done it order to give readers the idea that yes, they're going to that page. It might not look good, but it's what's required.
And no, it's not a needed warning at all, it is incredibly harsh and discouraging to see something like that unless it's something like a sex scandal where a strong warning is needed. This is a harmless disambiguation page. These editors are usually doing their first edits as a test or encouraged by their teachers to leave their high schools and probably will never return again. Just find the school, link them, and move on, don't get wound up about it. It takes less than thirty seconds to find an associated entry with the wiki or Google search engines, bracket it and make it look good. Nate • (chatter) 19:25, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
