M'bilia Bel

I don't know what you mean by "more common"; it's "M'bilia Bel" on all the albums I have, and on most of the Web lists I looked at. It's also her name. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 20:57, 28 September 2005 (UTC)

The websites I looked at say Mbilia Bel, but it is not an issue. --Ezeu 21:10, 28 September 2005 (UTC)

MarketUganda

I'm wondering why you had removed MarketUganda from the list and yet some of the websites listed on the external links are similar to mine more or less commercial. Dont tell me for instance that there is a different between Ugandaonline and MArketUganda. We both provide similar content and the idea is the same i.e to make it easier for people looking for information about Uganda. How do you justify your removal of my site. Beside, i was one of the first people who edited and added some of the external sites available of the Uganda site including Ugandaonline.--Marketuganda

  • External links should have general information related to the article, not websites to promote certain businesses. To promote your website use appropriate meta tags in your HTML and register it with web directories and search engines.--Ezeu 11:42, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

Tourism hype

I have now twice removed a section called "Tourism in Romania" (well, the first time it was "Turism..."). It's a perfectly valid topic, but the content was nothing but unencyclopedic hype. For the record, here is what it said. Someone needs to cover the topic a lot better than this if they want it in the article. -- Jmabel | Talk 06:56, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

[begin deleted text]

Tourism in Romania is a very riched source of value for the romanian economy. Often Romania is characterized by the followings:
  • "… why should you go to Romania? The straight answer is because it is one of the most beautiful countries of Southeast Europe." (The Blue Guide)
  • "Few regions offer a more dazzling display of cultural and artistic treasures than Romania." (Smithsonian Journeys)
  • "Considered by many the most beautiful country in Eastern-Europe, Romania still claims regions that seem bastions of a medieval past long since lost elsewhere." (Fodor's Eastern and Central Europe)
  • "Romania has majestic castles, medieval towns, great hiking and wildlife…" (The Lonely Planet)

[end deleted text]

I think this is the proof that you JMABEL have something against ROMANIA, you keep deleting the lines about tourism in Romania and you told us that you try to be neutral and not BIAS, but look, you are still deleting these very good lines... is there something that you don't like? well I don't care, ok? you don't want other people to discover Romania? Belive me Romania has changed since you left, don't be caught in your trap and own ideas and image about Romania, behave more decently! it was just a perfectly text on turism on Romania, actually I propose you not to interfere any more since you cannot accept the NETRAL POINTS OF VIEW OF FOREIGN PEOPLE on ROMANIA! (The Blue Guide),(Smithsonian Journeys),(Fodor's Eastern and Central Europe),(The Lonely Planet)

I have to admit I am very good in detecting your bias ideas, you should let romanians build their site since we know more about our country than you an ignorant nerd.

I really appreciate your work as a whole but we don't have to agree on all the issues, it would not be democratic, see you next time Jmabel, until then my best wishes.

"External links should have general information related to the article, not websites to promote certain businesses"

External links should be providing further information on the relevant and related article/subject and in this case about Uganda for those who wants to read and find more about Uganda. And in which way isn't marketuganda not fullfilling that? It is as any directory out there collecting Uganda related websites wheather there are private, NGOs or businesses. And believe me, I'm runnning the site from my own pocket as its impossible to charge for Internet conten in Uganda, no company or website owner is ready to pay anything to have his/her site listed and am running the site just because I love my country and I want to promote in online. If one day I start making money on it, that will be a bonus but for now my objective is to index as many uganda related websites as possible so that whoever is looking for something, they will be able to get it. Thats how all the major sites i.r Google,Yahoo started and later developed to commercial businesses but like i said, my goal is to promote Uganda.

Sexual Slang confrontation

Even though the AfD vote on sexual slang (formerly "List of sexual slang") was to keep, the opposition (User:The Literate Engineer and User:Voice of All(MTG)) deleted it anyways (though it was still in the history). I've written a long letter pointing out their bogus plan, revealing them for the frauds they are. I've taken the bold move of reverting the list to BEFORE they started their hack job on it (Nov 15). If you want that list retained, you better get over there and help with the reversion war that is likely to result. I can't do it alone. Bend over 17:09, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

The assault on the List of sexual slang

Two users in particular The Literate Engineer & Voice of All(MTG) have apparently made it their duty to get rid of the list and they have been using underhanded tactics in an attempt to do so in any way they can.

But word is getting out, and supporters of the list are starting to rally against them and protect the list (via rerverting vandalism, countering their tactics, etc.).

congo

Could you do me a favor and take a look at the talk page for congo? There is no article referring to the shared culture of both congos and their region. I'm seeking opinions on what to do about this. Tedernst 08:42, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

Many ethnic groups (eg. Bakongo and Lingala speaking people) live in both in both countries. See also Kongo Empire. Soukous music originated in towns in both Congos. When referring to both of them, the term "The Congos" is often used. Sometimes when "Congolese" is mentioned, it refers to both countries, or only one of them. So when Congolese is disambiguated to Democratic Republic of the Congo, it could be misleading. Maybe this could be explained on the disambiguation page (Congo). I'll try to next time I have some extra time. --Ezeu 09:08, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I understand there is a shared culture. There is no article about the shared culture, however. I've copied your comments to Talk:Congo. Perhaps there is room for this article about the shared culture. Tedernst 09:17, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

Good. Lets hope Congolese people there can come with suggestions. --Ezeu 09:23, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi Ezeu.

Perhaps this was just a mistake, but please note that the proper place for commenting on an Articles for Deletion discussion is on the AfD page, not on the article itself. I removed your text from The Paw Print, you might like to go back to the AfD page and re-enter them there. Best regards, --BillC 23:24, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Ruby Turner

Hello. According to the IMDb (the link I added), Ruby Turner was born on June 22, 1958, not 1962. Usually it is a reliable source for biographical info. Gilliamjf 04:26, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

discrimination

Dear Ezeu

I see you entered the word "discrimination" into the causes of poor health. This may well be your view, and many would agree with you, but it is an opinion, not a established fact, and so is inappropriate in wikipedia, which strives to maintain a neutral point of view. I have therefore deleted it.

If, on the other hand, you can cite an established source where discrimination has demonstrably been the cause of indigenous ill-health (e.g. a health worker has turned away a patient because of their skin colour) then it would be good to cite that in the article. If you can quote any such case, could you put it in? If uyou would like to discuss this, feel free to email me.

Cheers

Ray

Rayd8 08:31, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

I was not referring to lack of access to health care facilities, but ill-health caused by social determinants (the conditions in which people live and work), such as poverty, social exclusion (discrimination), inappropriate housing, unsafe employment conditions etc. (WHO: Commission on Social Determinants of Health). This is quite agrred upon in the field of public health and health promotion.--Ezeu 17:54, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Kizito out?

Hi Ezeu, long time no speak. I have a question about Ugandan general election, 2006. Here I assume that you were thinking of Sebaggala rather than Ssebaana, but I want to make sure as I'm not following the other candidates as closely as I should. On a complete tangent, the mention of ugali on your user page brought back memories. Did you ever have the posho that was mashed with dried cassava? I only had it around Lira. The change in consistency from regular posho was refreshing, though it's harder to make the "pockets" to scoop up sauce. I also wanted to let you know that you are all over my watchlist all the time. Thanks for all your contributions. Cheers, BanyanTree 17:21, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

You are right, I had Ssebaana and Sebaggala mixed up. Youve been around :). Yes, I've had the posho made with dried ground cassava, which can also be made with mashed cooked cassava. You will find it mostly in Lango, Teso and Acholi areas, where matoke is rarely eaten. When eated with malakwang in simsim or groundnut sauce, it is really a delicacy. About the "pockets", there is really no other way to eat posho, wouldnt you agree? I now know what I am having for dinner on saturday. --Ezeu 01:23, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Now you're just making me jealous. The dish I was thinking of actually didn't have ground cassava. The cassava had been cut up into chunks and left out to dry in the open and and then roughly beaten up into small chunks, maybe about the size of the first digit of the thumb. Then it was put in with the posho and water to cook so you ended up having to be careful when pushing a dimple in the ball that you weren't pushing a chunk of cassava out the other side and making a leak. Mmmm... groundnut sauce... I hope to make it back sometime. This conversation has made me hungry - I'm going to go make a snack not as good as groundnut sauce. aladin vote

You said you wanted to Delete and Redirect... That's not a very good idea. You can redirect without deleting, and it accomplishes the same thing, except that plain old redirect preserves the talk page so people know why the original was turned into a redirect. Deleting it first erases all the proof of hoaxed sources and sockpuppeting, so that if someone tries to turn it into a self-promotional article again all the evidence against it would no longer be there. You'd be much better off voting a Speedy Keep and Redirect. DreamGuy 00:52, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Lists of musicians merged

Hi Ezeu, what I am tring to do is have a complete list of all South African people who have articles on wikipedia on one list. Your List of South African musicians have a large number of red links--Jcw69 11:46, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Yes, but what is the need for duplicate lists, and dont you think the list South African people will get too large at one point? There is nothing wrong with red links, they lead to the creation of new articles. --Ezeu 15:41, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Regarding your message to me

Ezeu:

I posted three times that I am 50 years old (see Jaffer Jaffer 04:06, 15 January 2006 (UTC)) . When I explain that I have been in teh footage business for 20 years and that I am linking to video in a similar fashion as imdb, which is a commercial site sold to Amazon.com for over $100 million.

Each admin has allowed me to do this and I am having a lot of fun...but do not want to hurt Wikipedia. Admins have deleted and then restored some of my edits or links because I am not SPAMMING. Yes, the evtv1 does have a commercial but so does IMDB, who sell advertising.

The commercial is most likely worth the great footage...of which is ALL legal that I am linking to. Please let me know if I need to do something to continue. I love doing this and one day I hope to become an admin. My email address is Jaffer@gophercentral.com.

Thank you and if you have disabled my edits, I would appreciate you restoring them.

Sincerely, Jaffer

  • The videos you linking to have only the sole purpose of selling a product, hence spam. The general consensus on Wikipedia is to disallow such links. IMDB is a renowned and notable website, hence linking to them is usually allowed..--Ezeu 04:19, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Ezeu:

Respectfully, I disagree. There are many video clips that have no DVD associated with the clip, although a majority do. I do know that those videos that come from DVDs have given the right to use the clip for linking, for ipod downloads, etc.. I think IMDB is a great site, don't get me wrong. But it certainly is commercial and sells advertising.

But I do not make the rules. So far three admins have accused me of spamming and two have allowed me to continue. I am confused. I think SPAM is a terrible word and will stop adding legal video clips...although there are some great historical gems...from Ellis Island video clips, to Judy Garland's last performance at the Palladium.

Can I continue or am I to stop? Please advise. I appreciate your consideration.Jaffer 04:47, 15 January 2006 (UTC) Jaffer

Please Restore

Ezeu:

Please restore the edits. Even the link to Ellis Island was deleted...this is a precious historical clip. So many of my links have een deleted by you. I have tried to comply and state my case. Adding copyrighted video must be done only if you know the source and disposition of rights. You can email me or post. I have worked hard, although I do enjoy it, but to see the hours of work go for nothing is difficult.

I thank you for your consideration. Jaffer 15:05, 15 January 2006 (UTC) Jaffer

According to Wikipedia:External links#What should not be linked to, spam constitues among others, "links that are added to promote a site, by the site operator or its affiliates". You have used nearly 100 or even more Wikipedia articles to link to a website that is appearently owned by your family. I am sorry Jaffer, but by restoring those links, I too would be spamming wikipedia. Wikipedia guidelines state that if it is a link to a website that you own or maintain, and you feel that it is relevant to the article, mention it as a possible link on the talk page and wait for someone else to include it." --Ezeu 19:51, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
Ezeu,

I have not made a secret of the fact that the links go to a site owned by my family. When you are dealing with video, you must be sure of teh copyright. You almost have to own it. I realize this seems like a conflict of interest, but in this case...necessary.

Is this "obvious self-promotion?" If you really believe that, OK...but I think you deleted teh Ellis Island Clip. Do you really believe this is a great promotion? There is a real opportunity to add good quality video to Wikipedia...but I must emphasize, copyright must be respected and the only way I personally know is to use resources I am familiar with.

Now, if my judgment is poor, I will gladly agree. And maybe some of my suggestions have not been steallar (I will get better), but I need to know the rights of the clips...and that limits me to those that I know.

Ezeu, do you really think this is blatant promotion? Jaffer 20:11, 15 January 2006 (UTC) Jaffer

    • Yes I do, and so do those who have posted messages on your talk page, and those who have reverted your edits. The matter, apparently, cannot be concluded here. If you want to discuss Wikipedia policies, you can do so at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy). --Ezeu 03:26, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
