Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Seal of Kuantan.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Seal of Kuantan.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 08:59, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fortune Global 500 edit

Hi, I'm not sure who to contact for this, but I thought you'd interested since you're a member of the Economics WikiProject. There is an article called Fortune Global 500. This article is a copy and paste of the list of the 500 largest companies in the world by revenues published by Fortune magazine every year. Fortune magazine lists these companies by countries and cities. They list Shell as being a company from the Netherlands and not a dual company from Britain and the Netherlands (contrary to Unilever). One British Wikipedian doesn't like that and has changed the article, writting that Shell is a dual British/Dutch company, contrary to the source from Fortune magazine. I tried to explain that the article being simply a copy and paste of the Fortune Global 500 list, we have to respect their editorial choices, otherwise it's not the Global Fortune 500 list anymore, it becomes something else. Unfortunately I feel like I'm preaching in the desert, so to speak. If we start changing things from the list based on what we think is right or wrong, then why not also change EADS which Fortune magazine lists as a Dutch company (because it is legally incorporated in the Netherlands for tax reasons), whereas in fact EADS is a Franco-German company with top management in Paris and Munich? As you can see, this could lead to endless changes to the article. I thought on Wikipedia we had to write information that matches with the sources we use. It would be nice to hear from you on this point. Keizuko (talk) 17:11, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:20080302NikNazmi.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Ninth Malaysia Plan edit

Hi there. I don't know the reason you discard my entry on Ninth Malaysia Plan. Engkamalzack (talk) 05:40, 5 April 2008 (UTC) For your information high oil price and asian financial crisis were mentioned in PM's speech on 31 March 2006. I am also a regular contributor for ms.wikipedia.org. You are welcome to contribute if you can write in Malay. Engkamalzack (talk) 07:09, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Excuse me it is not a suspect but a fact mentioned in PM's speech when tabling the RMK9. You better put in discussion before removing it, it will piss other people. And you don't need to do extensive research to know that oil prices had been on the up trend since US invaded the Iraq in 2003, nor do you need for extensive research to find out that Malaysia indeed was on the path to recover after the Asian Financial Crisis. For heaven's sake, these two factors were singled out in PM's speech on 31 March 2006. And the blueprint was not announced on 1 April, which is one mistake the original contributor did.Engkamalzack (talk) 02:51, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your edit contains factual inaccuracies. For instance, the British did not establish British Malaya. British Malaya was just a name to refer to separate entities on the Peninsula. __earth (Talk) 07:30, 8 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Then why is the current article: "Previously, a set of colonies were established by the United Kingdom from the late eighteenth century, and the western half of modern Malaysia was composed of several separate kingdoms. This group of colonies was known as British Malaya until its dissolution in 1946" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.54.43.81 (talk) 03:25, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with File:200802KhooKayKim.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:200802KhooKayKim.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. File permission problem with File:TorchedChurchKualaLumpurAllahRulingControversy.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:TorchedChurchKualaLumpurAllahRulingControversy.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. User MonkeyAssault edit

The editor who you speak of has a history of deleting whole sections of articles that are anti-establishment or paints the Malaysian government or personalities in a bad light. He gives flimsy arguments such as Coatracking, BLP and fringe sources as his excuse in deleting and reediting the information in the article. I in fact suspected that this individual is a government agent as his history is not more than a few months old and he mainly concentrates his editing in government-related or government individual articles. His main focus over the last few months were in the following articles: Najib Tun Razak, Murder of Shaariibuugiin Altantuyaa, Port Klang Free Zone, Operation Lalang. I have already reported him at the 3R noticeboard, but the administrators only effectively froze one of the articles from further editing, without suspending him. If you think he can be reported for vandalism, please report him at the following noticeboard: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.Roman888 (talk) 15:49, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello there. Sorry to bother you, but you are (titularly at least) a member of WP:WikiProject Economics, as defined by this category. If you don't know me, I'm a Wikipedia administrator, but an unqualified economist. I enjoy writing about economics, but I'm not very good at it, which is why I would like to support in any way I can the strong body of economists here on Wikipedia. I'm only bothering you because you are probably one of them. Together, I'd like us to establish the future direction of WikiProject Economics, but first, we need to know who we've got to help.

Whatever your area of expertise or level of qualification, if you're interested in helping with the WikiProject (even if only as part of a larger commitment to this wonderful online encyclopedia of ours), would you mind adding your signature to this page? It only takes a second. Thank you.

Message delivered on behalf of User:Jarry1250 by LivingBot.

Firstly, thank you for signing the census, and an apology if you are one of those editors who dislike posts such as this one for messaging you again in this way. I've now got myself organised and you can opt-out of any future communication at WP:WikiProject Economics/Newsletter. Just remove your name and you won't be bothered again.
Secondly, and most importantly, I would like to invite your comments on the census talk page about the project as a whole. I've given my own personal opinion on a range of topics, but my babbling is essentially worthless without your thoughts - I can't believe for one moment that everyone agrees with me in the slightest! :)

Fair use rationale for File:BokHseTheStar.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:BokHseTheStar.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Deletion of vernacular languages edit

It has come to my attention, that you have been deleting vernacular languages from header. There is no wikipolicy that unequivocally objects the use of relevant languages in selected articles. Many western/north african countries retain their french colonial names despite many of them not granted official status in their respective countries. I suggest instead of just deleting otherwise impertinent details, you start editing the content of the articles. Hence being of better service than deleting headers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.132.83.98 (talk) 16:48, 20 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

This has been discussed ages ago and it is just new people coming in within reading up on old discussion. In any case, why stop at just four languages? Furthermore, lots of African countries that have French names have French as the official language. On top of that, this is a collaborative effort. Everybody does their part, either by maintain the status quo or adding new stuff, which isn't necessarily better. (besides, most of those Malaysian pages were written by me long ago anyway. So, clearly, I've done my part. I'm only patrolling these days...) p/s - you should get a username. __earth (Talk) 01:33, 21 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:20110406SarawakStateElectionDAPCampaignKuching.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading File:20110406SarawakStateElectionDAPCampaignKuching.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:06, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:TheMalaysianInsider.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:TheMalaysianInsider.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Meet-up: Editors from Malaysia edit

Hello! You might or might not have seen me around here as I've not been active in Wikipedia the past few months. Before leaving for NS, it was my intention to form a Malaysian user group. I'm still very much interested in forming the group. However, before forming the group, I would love to organize a meet-up between editors of the Malaysian editing community to test the waters and hear what you guys might have to say. To my knowledge, there has not been a Wikipedia meet-up in this country before. I don't mind organizing the meet-up but need to know if anyone is interested in joining the meet-up. So... please reply and let me know if you would be interested in joining a meet-up and your ideas/thoughts about a user group. Thank you.

Looking forward to hearing from you, Bejinhantalks 12:31, 15 December 2012 (UTC) (Message delivered by EdwardsBot (talk) 12:31, 15 December 2012 (UTC))Reply
