August 2019 edit

This is your only warning; if you insert a spam link to Wikipedia again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 16:53, 7 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

In the last days I added external links to some articles in Wikipedia concerning the works of the artist César Manrique. My intervention was considered as spam and deleted by Praxidicae, and my account blocked, arguing that I was doing self-promotion and advertisement. However, the links were in accord with the Wikipedia guidelines for external links, that declare that “Blogs, personal web pages and most fansites” should be avoided “except those written by a recognized authority”. In that sense, I must clarify that I did a PhD concerning the subject, that had the highest grade from an international jury and it is published, and today is considered a main reference in the academic world. Recently, I wrote a book on the subject, published by the government of Lanzarote and the official institution responsible of the works for which I was adding content. My work was widely referred by the local press, radio and television, and presented by the local authorities, declared like “one of the best encyclopedias about César Manrique”[1]. In the last weeks I decided to give for free a digital version of some content of these two publications, like the complete bibliography, original drawings, the summary, and some selected pages, particularly useful for researchers. I was checking the Wikipedia articles where my links were deleted, and they all have links to unofficial websites and blogs with any mention of the sources (as cesarmanrique.com, or https://www.guidetocanaryislands.com). In the other hand, the links I provided showed content from clear reliable sources, that are approved by an international jury, and edited by an official entity directly related to the subject. That is by I ask you to consider unblocking my account and reverting the cancelation of my intervention. Thanks in advance for considering my request. Decline reason:

It is a conflict of interest for you to post links to your own website without discussion among independent editors on the talk page first, as an edit request. Otherwise it just looks to others like you are promoting your webstie, regardless of if you are a generally recognized authority on the subject. Also, as noted in my message that you removed from this page(which you can do, except for declined unblock requests like this), Instead of posting links to your website with the sources, you should be using the sources directly. Academics and other experts in a field sometimes have difficulty writing for Wikipedia, which is intended for lay people and has different processes than writing an academic or scholarly work. There may be a path to being unblocked for you, but you will need to show that you understand the proper way to contribute the information in your field, and I don't think you have done that yet. As such, I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 10:23, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I am sorry, it is the first time I use wikipedia for editing. I don´t really know so well how it works, and I really didn´t wanted to cancel your content (I have technical problems understanding how this talk pages works). The problem I had with adding the sources (the book I wrote) it that it is only available in printed version inside the museums of Lanzarote, that is why I create the web and included the complete reference to the printed version. However I understand what you said. If it happen to me again and i have doubts, I will do it as you said, passing by an edit request. Thanks a lot for your time and explanations.

Okay, but you will need to make a successful unblock request first. For fairness, someone else will review any other request you make. 331dot (talk) 10:39, 8 August 2019 (UTC) Ok, thanks. i will try doing so...Reply

Request reason:

Hello, I am a new user editing in wikipedia. I did some contributions adding some links to a personal website that I thought could be relevant, not aware of the rules against this practice. After that, my intervention was considered spam, and my account blocked. I am sorry: I didn´t know about the conflict of interest it created according to wikipedia guidelines. I understand that the right way would be asking about it among independent editors on the talk page first, as an edit request. Please, consider unblocking my, as the the block is no longer necessary because I understand the reason of it, and I will take it into account for making productive contributions in the future following wikipedia rules. Thanks in advance!. Divulgacion-cientifica (talk) 13:00, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Divulgacion-cientifica (talk) 10:46, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Accept reason:

As long as you avoid adding direct links to your work yourself, I see no reason for your account to remain blocked. Have a read of WP:EXPERT (we do welcome contributions from specialists in their field, even though it might not look like it right now!) and familiarise yourself with the edit request process (which you may well have done already) and you shouldn't have any further problems. Welcome back. Yunshui  14:47, 30 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
