Proposed deletion of Noah Dickerson edit

The article Noah Dickerson has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Speedy deletion nomination of Melvin Frazier edit

Hello DevonSoc,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Melvin Frazier for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Speedy deletion nomination of Jon Davis (basketball) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jon Davis (basketball) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.

Please be aware of Wikipedia:Notability_(sports)#Basketball. Jon Davis passes none of those standards. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 20:24, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Writing articles edit

Hello DevonSoc. When writing basketball articles, can you please provide more information than just the name, team, and position. This does not demonstrate notability. Jon Davis (basketball) was briefly deleted before I put in the work to improve it and I'm not sure it would pass AfD. Maybe you should work on articles in the Draft: namespace first as you have done with a few like E. C. Matthews. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 21:09, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • As is, I don't think it would pass AfD, but I could be wrong. He is not a notable player...yet. He might become so in the future, but right now; just some trivial passing mentions for second team, and pre-season stuff. The only thing of note is 3 paragraphs here. That's not much. Since he doesn't pass Wikipedia:Notability_(sports)#Basketball, we'd need to look to WP:GNG, and he doesn't pass that either, to my eye. @Editorofthewiki: thanks for recreating it. As is it's not an immediate CSD candidate. --Hammersoft (talk) 23:35, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Deletion discussion about Tyler Cook edit

Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Your draft article, Draft:Jalen McDaniels edit

Hello, DevonSoc. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Jalen McDaniels".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

A page you started (Cameron Young) has been reviewed! edit

Thanks for creating Cameron Young.

I have just reviewed the page, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

When you create articles, please ensure that you have demonstrated that the subject meets notability standards. This can be done in this case either by noting he was MAAC POY (meets WP:NBASKETBALL) or including sufficient WP:RS to demonstrate the subject meets WP:GNG - preferably both.

To reply, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Rikster2}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

Can you please demonstrate notability, and add categories when you write articles? I spent a long time improving Cameron Young to the point where it won’t be deleted and you just did the same thing with this article. You are putting work on other editors doing this. Rikster2 (talk) 17:45, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Also, what is your evidence that he holds American citizenship? I find this nowhere, but do know he has played for Lithuania in FIBA events (see here). Please do not add this again without citing with a reliable source. Rikster2 (talk) 20:02, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Most sities list him as being from Barrington, IL rather than Lithuania.

That's his hometown, that tells you nothing about what country he is a citizen of and his birthplace is Kaunas, Lithuania as stated in his Colgate bio and as I linked in my earlier message he has represented Lithuania at FIBA events. I find nothing that says he is American. Rikster2 (talk) 22:58, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Jalen Lecque edit

The article Jalen Lecque has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:TOOSOON, this player fails WP:NBASKETBALL.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
