World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade edit

I see you have edited World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, thank you. But, there is a matter of removing content that has a place in the article. I am refeering to the picture of the leaked image of Pandaren in said article. When making such changes, it is important that you explain why in the edit summary and in most cases discuss it with the other editors on the articles discussion page. Hope to see more of your edits in the future. Havok (T/C) 11:21, 6 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Source, please edit

Dear Deiaemeth,

While your constructive contributions to Wikipedia are welcome, what seem to be your brazen insertions of nationalist POV into Korea-related articles are not. Please begin to provide some authoritative sources for your assertions that Buyeo/Fuyu, Goguryeo/Gaogouli, and Balhae/Bohai were ethnically Korean. Also it would be nice if you could provide an explanation of what those sources mean by "ethnically Korean," when referring to states that seem to long predate the construction of modern national identities.

That these states were part of Korean history can hardly be disputed; yet to forcefully assert that they were Korean (and not Manchurian, Tungusic, or simply themselves) seems problematic. I'm really not interested in an edit war over something as trivial as this, which is why I (and many other Wikipedians) would appreciate it if you would cite your sources.

Also, I'm curious -- if Goguryeo and Balhae were Korean, doesn't that mean that the Malgal/Mohe tribes were also Korean?

Happiness, -- Visviva 14:48, 4 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

What i meant to say is that most internationally recognized publications refer to Balhae and Goguryeo as part of History of Korea, as contrary to Chinese claim that Balhae and Guguryeo people are part of Chinese ethnic groups. Sorry if you misunderstood me, I guess my statement was unclear. As usual, thank you for your great contributions to many articles on Wikipedia :). I try to maintain NPOV and neutral position on Wikipedia, yet I've seen too much POV in Wikipedia, so I tend to fall off course. Have a nice day! Deiaemeth 20:37, 4 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Reporting vandalism edit

Hi, I saw your note on Administrator intervention against vandalism, I removed the entry as there didn't seem to be any warnings on the users page. By the time it's put on that page there should be several warnings. You should go talk to him if he'll listen, otherwise drop a warning on his talk page. From what I saw it looks like their should be some conversations going on....anyway, let me know if you need something! Thanks! Rx StrangeLove 07:16, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yi Su-gwang edit

I wanted to suggest someone do an article on Yi Sugwang, but couldn't figure out the right category. I really think there is a need for more articles on the thinkers and intellectuals of East Asia in the pre-modern era. What do you think? Bathrobe 11:32, 6 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Although I'm not personally an expect on subject of thinkers and intellectuals of East Asia, an article on Yi Su-Gwang would be a great idea indeed. There aren't much English information on his life though. I currently do not have the time to write the entire article, but I could start the basic structure for it, and have more editors participate in the article creation process. Deiaemeth 23:59, 6 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Great! I'll look around for editors specialising in Korean history, although they don't seem easy to find. But this should be a start. Bathrobe 00:23, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Request for Mediation edit

Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/East Sea (disambiguation) has been accepted by the Mediation Committee; mediation will begin on that page as soon as a mediator is assigned. Mediators are generally given several days to review and volunteer on cases which they feel particularly suited to mediate; if no mediator volunteers to take the case, one will be assigned. Please pay careful attention to the mediation subpage, as further communication from the Committee will occur there. (Adding that page to your watchlist would be very helpful.)

안녕하십니까, Deiaemeth씨. Deiaemeth씨는 저에게 인사를 먼저 해주셔서 고맙습니다. 한국학 화이팅! Thanks for dropping by my user page and thank you for you concern about the editing of Korean-related articles. Korean prehistory has been ignored and undervalued in the past, but everybody all over the world who works in archaeology, anthropology and all social sciences can learn so much about the secondary origins of agriculture AND how complex societies formed if we simply present the prehistory of Korea as it is -- incredibly rich, interesting, and meaningful. The key is to give archaeological scholarly endeavors equal time with the results of historical studies (i.e. Dangun, Gojoseon, Wiman Joseon, etc), especially in cases in which vast time periods are not informed by historical materials. Have a nice day. 그럼 건강하고 수고하세요! Mumun 16:02, 22 February 2006 (UTC)올림Reply

History of Korea edit

Hello and thank you for your query about using MR Romanisation in my edits regarding the history of Korea.

The MR romanisations are used in the sources that I have cited in editing the page, and I merely reproduced the sources from Samguk Yusa and Kim Jong-il regime's KCNA. I felt this was necessary to maintain the integrity of the sources: If you are citing a source, you should not temper with a word within it to create a mythical view that is not valid. I hope that helps to answer your question. Sydneyphoenix

Yi Su-Gwang edit

A stub? It's great! In fact, it's even more interesting than I thought it would be! Thanks for that!

PS: You also need a redirect from Yi Sugwang. User:Bathrobe 13 April (not logged on)

I notice that Yu Su-Gwang is identified on this site [1] as one of the "four Sirhak scholars, Yi Sugwang (1563-1628), Yi Ik (1681-1763), An Chôngbok (1712-1791), Hong Taeyong (1731-1783)".
There is no Wikipedia article on Sirhak, but there is a page on Silhak, which is just a redirect to Neo-Confucianism. Do you have any idea what the Sirhak/Silhak school was about? There isn't a lot on the Internet.

Mugu... edit

sounds like a great topic. i see there's already an article on Jikji, but it's not linked from any major articles.

i guess 무구정광대다라니경 means something like the Great Mugu Jeonggwang Dharani, but maybe these documents are just romanized from korean, except i'm not sure how syllable spacing would work. sorry, i couldn't find an english name either but will keep looking. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]. Appleby 06:54, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

According to Acmuller's handy Digital Dictionary of Buddhism [7], the English title is "Dharani of the pure immaculate light." However, it isn't entirely clear if that name is in common use (or if any name is in common use). Personally, I would recommend a title like "(South Korean) National Treasure 126," which could also include some information on the other items excavated from the Dabotap at that time. Good luck! -- Visviva 08:08, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Crazyarcade logo.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Crazyarcade logo.JPG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:05, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Tsushima edit

There has been a spur of controversy on the Korean naming conventions.

For me, I find that there is nothing wrong on the Korean etymology. The Koreans have exerted political, cultural and historical influences on Tsushima, and since time in memorial you would notice that the Koreans refered Tsushima as Daemado. Concerning the official reference of South Korea as "Ssusema Seom", I got it from the archives of Tsushima's talk. Furthermore, with a section on former disputes on Tsushima being refered to in a section at Korean-Japanese disputes, I feel that there is a need to highlight on the Korean way of refering Tsushima, also for adminstrative reasons.

I have no intention of spurring or hurting Korean-Japanese relations. Yes, I'm the one who authored the paragraph, but let's resolve the matter step by step with the pro-Japanese users who otherwise opposed to my Korean naming reference, seen from their User page profile and the way they wanted a consensus. Indeed, I can't find what's wrong with the paragraph, possibly because of sheer fanatical anti-Korean sentiments.

As for the sources this User:Dwy suggested in order to support my statement, we need sources. We can look for it, but such sources are certainly indeed only avaliable in Korean.

For now, I have to concentrate on my exams, and I can't be too distracted. If the oppposition rouses the (possibly unnecessary) fuss again, do hold on until 10th May, if you wish/could. I hope that won't trouble you too much. Also, I have posted a similar message to User:Appleby. Cheers! Mr Tan 04:36, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

One step at a time. We need to consider their interests, at the same time protecting ours too, with caution. Until this section is solved, I won't be able to start a new etymology section combining this section together with new content which I want to edit on how the Japanese refered to Tsushima in the respective variants. You can still see it in the current talk page of Tsushima, at the section of Korean naming conventions.

No, I am taking my high school mid-year exams, from Singapore. I am a Singaporean, really. Are you now in Korea, by any chance? It's lunch time in Singapore right now, and Korea's time zone is just one hour ahead, I believe. Cheers! Mr Tan 04:44, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ah yes, good luck too. Wikipedia should not be part of one's life. To freeze or recontinue a discussion is certainly within one's control. You must not forget that wikipedia is only an interest encyclopedia. Concentrate on your exams, and don't let your body and mind tear apart. Cheers! Mr Tan 04:48, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Deiaemeth: Thanks for the help. I got the name from the Cultural Heritage Administration [8]. That and Seongdeokdaewangsinjong both seem really unruly but I don't think I've ever heard an English name for them or a shorter name. Owning islands edit

Hello and how are you? I have some information that everyone should know but I would like to discuss with you.

I think South Korea owns Dokdo. Administering or controlling sounds like Japan has a foothold in trying to make Dokdo their own territory.

And please remember that Korea and Japan are not in a dispute over Dokdo. Dokdo is Korean territory! Japan just wants the islands. "Dispute" sounds like it might be either Korean or Japanese land! Dokdo is Korean territory and Japan is just claiming it. It is NOT a dispute. I am wondering if this is eligible to write on the article of Liancourt Rocks...

Hi edit

So, tentative proof and generally regarded are the reasons why u see it not a ironclad. Maybe. But in my opion , a so-called tentative proof is just sth subjective. According to someone's definition of ironclad in this article, 'were wooden ships or ships of composite construction (wooden planking on iron frames) sheathed with thick iron plates for protection against gunfire', this chinese boat is the very ironclad,or if not at least 'a pioneer', i think. If you really disregard it as a 'generally regarded ironclad' (by who?) , maybe u can see it as a pioneer, not a full-scale one, just a boat with some elements of ironclad. Nonsense, vandalism edit

Please try to be a bit more careful when using these terms in edit summaries. "Nonsense" and "vandalism" are not blanket terms for inappropriate edits. For example, you were right (IMO) to revert the anon who added the excessive details about Joseon's surrender to Qing in the Korea article. However, calling the addition "nonsense" is inappropriate and can mislead observers into thinking that it was a matter of simple vandalism. The revert was called for, I believe, by Wikipedia:Summary style, since such minute details of Korean history belong in sub-sub-sub-articles of Korea. Since you do quite a bit of vandal-fighting (thanks!) as well as quite a bit of other stuff, it is best to keep the two separate. -- Visviva 08:18, 29 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
