Editing User talk:Dcshank/Archive 13

Hi,

Please note that you accidentally moved your old talk to the mainspace. You might want to correct that mistake. Travelbird (talk) 18:18, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

Travelbird,
I realized when I could not find it. Was going to go looking for it. Taken care of now. Thanks. -- :- ) Don 18:26, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

Holiday cheer

  Holiday Cheer
Michael Q. Schmidt talkback is wishing you Season's Greetings! This message celebrates the holiday season, promotes WikiLove, and hopefully makes your day a little better. Spread the seasonal good cheer by wishing another user a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. This holiday season...

Festivus for the rest of us!
Frank Costanza: "Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way."
Cosmo Kramer: "What happened to the doll?"
Frank Costanza: "It was destroyed. But out of that a new holiday was born: a Festivus for the rest of us!"
Kramer: "That must have been some kind of doll."
Frank Costanza: "She was."

This holiday season, have a fantastic Festivus!Theopolisme 16:01, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

AFC Backlog Drive

Pillow Flying Artillery

Regarding your decline [1] of this article at AFC, since when have military units been excluded by WP:NOT? You commented "the Wikipedia is not a collection of facts"; isn't that precisely what the definition of an encyclopaedia actually is? SpinningSpark 12:51, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

I gave up on this place over a year a go. Check dates? :- ) Don 20:08, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Then you are probably not aware that old abandoned AFC drafts are being mass deleted. Some of us are going through them to see if anything can be salvaged before they get the chop. I am rescuing about 1 in 8 and moving to mainspace. That's an awfully high percentage. I am seeing quite a few declined for invalid reasons, or even no real reason at all and am messaging some of the original reviewers. Yes, they are years old, but I did check your history before posting here and found you had made some fairly recent edits.
I've moved your post back here, I don't think you meant to post on my talk page in any case. If you did, the talkback message was completely redundant (and I hate those things anyway.) SpinningSpark 21:17, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Pratigya

Hi DCshank I had requested for a deleted article to be reinstated, ( link to history of article-https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Pratigya&action=history) you had declined stating notability issues. Wanted to understand how to improve the notability- for it is not very different from some articles like the following :- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pratigya and if you do a google search on Pratigya 1975- here is what you get :- (https://www.google.co.in/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=RnjjU4ipI6rV8gfz94DgDg&gws_rd=ssl#q=pratigya+1975) The movie was one of the top 3 grossers in India in 1975 :-(http://www.boxofficeindia.com/showProd.php?itemCat=181&catName=MTk3NQ==) all it's cast are notable, it's a movie for an era and a part of the world when you would not have too many online articles, and less notable movies of the same era with the same number of external links do have article online ( and rightly so). Do guide and help in getting this article back. Haphar (talk) 13:16, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi Haphar,
It appear that the article has been resubmitted. I'm not working here any longer, but I'm sure a reviewer will get to it shortly. Thanks for your input. :- ) Don 20:49, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Bunraku

Is bunraku specifically part of the uncanny valley where other puppets aren't? The uncanny valley article doesn't appear to mention this; it looked like it just had a lot of possible-WP:OR "and here's another robot/puppet/doll that gives me the creeps" links in the see-also section. --McGeddon (talk) 15:06, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Bunraku is not part of the article. It is in the thumbnail which is reliable, IMHO. I assume that bunraku was chosen as a good general/generic example, rather than some one-off robot built as a university project. My idea of "other" puppets would be Kermit. -- :- ) Don 15:56, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Oh, got it, I was just doing a text search. Do we know whether it's an important part of the theory, or just an arbitrary example of a largish puppet with no visible operator? --McGeddon (talk) 16:09, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
I don't know, I just assumed it was a good example. Since there was no wiki-link to bunraku in the Uncanny Valley article, and I did not want to do any editing to the article, the "See Also" would be like "What links here". I don't think it's any big deal if it's there or not.
Regards, :- ) Don 16:23, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
