Disambiguation link notification for November 4

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Comparison of EDA software, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Solaris (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Still alive

Hey you. Just a heads up that I survived the hurricane, as did everyone I know, with my house intact, and have power again as of this past Monday. Still been ridiculously busy at work, which is why I haven't been active, but figured I'd let you know I'm still alive. :-) How are you doing? RunnerOnIce (talk) 16:41, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Glad to hear that. One of the few people I know in the area. I hope it was not too exciting, worrying. Been there don't that, so I know it's usually useless to try to make contact in the middle of a disaster. I have not put your hook back into Ars Nova, but one of these days... I'm pissed at the Wikipedia again, so taking a little break. Glad you're fine. TTFN. -- :- ) Don 17:10, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Non-notable company

Hi Don,

You recently reviewed and declined my submission (Karups), saying that subject appears to be a non-notable company or organization. Is there any suggestions you can offer me that may help this article? This is my first time trying to submit an article and it's not as easy as it sounds! :) I know there are guides and articles I can reference; however, I thought I would try to get your opinion as you have experience and have reviewed the article I am trying to submit. It would help me out tremendously if you could provide me some feedback.

If you do not have any specific suggestions for this article, I understand.

I appreciate your time.

Respectfully,

Katie - (skyla87) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Skyla87/sandbox — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skyla87 (talkcontribs) 04:54, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Katie,
You have picked a difficult subject. To be honest these sites almost never make it. The major problem with many articles is finding reliable third party source that talk about your subject extensively, not just a passing mention. I don't know if you have read over WP:SOURCES also very important to your article is WP:IRS and up to date information is posted at WP:RSN. In this business reliable sources are few are far between, and competition is so tight, more than a mention is rare.
My only suggestion would be to look at how similar sites have made it here. That is not always a good indication because there is bad stuff already publish that should not have been. You can start looking at pages in Category:Pornography. If you have a specific question, just drop me another line. Keep in mind that some sites are "JUST NOT NOTABLE". Thanks for you effort. -- :- ) Don 20:48, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Status. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Truth About Love Tour that didn't seem very civil, so it has been removed. Wikipedia needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it’s one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Statυs (talk) 22:47, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

You did a really nice job on the info box and picture for the Frances Hugle article. Thank you!! Cheryl Hugle (talk) 19:55, 21 November 2012 (UTC) Cheryl Hugle

Thanks. It could be better, it could be worse. It is very subjective. I would like to make a higher contrast and see what you think. If you like it better, you can just replace it in Commons. I can try to removed that wrinkle to see what you think. The original news paper files I can straight and white balance. I would not do more to those.

The last one....
....
What would you like? The stain removal in the lower left is a lot of work, but can be done. Might just be best to crop it out, and see what you think. I can clean that one up quite a bit if you like.

Please keep your own finished copies. I will only keep work in progress. -- :- ) Don 01:12, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

If you make the higher contrast (not sure about the wrinkle), maybe it could be uploaded for an alternative? It would be nice to provide options for future writers and researchers not just for this article. Do you think that is reasonable?

I agree that cropping the last picture is probably best. It does have lots of problems but you seem pretty sensitive to what improvements are possible and what is better left alone so I'd rather defer to your judgement.

I am not sure about the newspaper pics. I think your ideas for improvement sound good but can they be uploaded? At least with the family photos I was able to get confirmation from my aunt that there were no copyright issues and they could be freely shared and entered into the public domain.

Again, thanks so much! Cheryl Hugle (talk) 17:22, 22 November 2012 (UTC) Cheryl Hugle

Articles for creation is desperately short of reviewers! We are looking for urgent help, from experienced editors, in reviewing submissions in the pending submissions queue. Currently there are 2636 submissions waiting to be reviewed and many help requests at our help desk.

Do you have what it takes?
  1. Are you familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines?
  2. Do you know what Wikipedia is and is not?
  3. Do you have a working knowledge of the Manual of Style, particularly article naming conventions?
  4. Can you review submissions based on their individual merits?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then please read the reviewing instructions and donate a little of your time to helping tackle the backlog. You might wish to add {{AFC status}} or {{AfC Defcon}} to your userpage, which will alert you to the number of open submissions. Plus, reviewing is easy when you use our new semi-automated reviewing script!

Kindle Writer software ??

Hi DcShank

I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Kindle Writer software is selling all over the world and has helped hundreds of authors to write their books for the Kindle. But unless I get a third party magazine (testimonials don't count), website or other vendor, I cannot add the software to Wikipedia. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.105.8.202 (talk) 16:50, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Do you have a user name and article name? Perhaps you forgot to login?
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you.

Welcome to the Months of African Cinema!

Greetings!

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which has been dedicated to improving contents that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora.

This is a global online edit-a-thon, which is happening in at least 5 language editions of Wikipedia, including the English Wikipedia! Join us in this exciting venture, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section, if you haven't done so already.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing Users who are able to achieve the following:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Country Winners
  • Diversity winner
  • High quality contributors
  • Gender-gap fillers
  • Page improvers
  • Wikidata Translators

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 22:50, 03 October 2018 (UTC)

The file File:CD cover of the OST to Somewhere I Have Never Traveled.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Somewhere I Have Never Traveled#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:35, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
