Help me! edit

Please help me with... Hello, I have been active on Wikipedia for 5 days, have made 60+ revisions, and have created 3 approved articles (with 2 additional submitted drafts in 'pending' status). I noted the policy that "Once you have made at least 10 edits and had an account for at least four days, you will have the option to create articles yourself without posting a request to Articles for creation," yet it appears that I am still not able to create articles myself at this time (despite meeting the stated criteria). Can you please clarify if there are additional requirements related to this policy, or if it has been changed? If not, how do I go about creating articles myself? Thank you in advance! DMVHistorian (talk) 15:47, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Gowan Pamphlet edit

On 8 November 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gowan Pamphlet, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 1772, Gowan Pamphlet (pictured) was ordained while still a slave? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gowan Pamphlet. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Gowan Pamphlet), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Help with a project edit

Hi

We have crossed paths in relation to one of the articles you created and I noticed that you are a 'prolific' article creator.

I don't plan on creating many (any?) articles myself but having dipped my toe in the waters of editing I think that I would like to improve some articles and also I think working on an article might help my editing skills.

As a project I picked Algerian Green Dam as an uncontroversial (some hope :)) article that certainly needs some work.

I've played around with a couple of bits and picked https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tongass_National_Forest?action=edit as something to use as a template -but I also realised that there are may issues - like the copyright of images - that I have no idea about. Even putting together the infobox presents changes to the IT challenged (me).

So I thought I'd ask if you would assist. I'd like to do the hands on stuff myself and I'll start putting something together in a sandbox but it would save me trying to reinvent the wheel if I had an experienced resource, such as yourself, to hand. Both for technical and review purposes.

Are you up for a bit of overtime?

Regards

Paul aka Lukewambeer Lukewarmbeer (talk) 09:40, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hey! Hope you've been doing well - that sounds like an interesting topic!
I would be happy to help take a look and provide feedback/suggestions to your sandbox content whenever it's ready for review. It looks like a few other anti-desertification & reforestation efforts have notable articles, including Great Green Wall (China) and Great Green Wall (Africa) - both of those articles include sections and graphics/maps that may be useful to emulate for the Algerian Green Dam article.
It also looks like there is some great additional literature and research regarding the Algerian Green Dam on JSTOR, Google Books, and Google Scholar.
Hopefully these are helpful, and please let me know if there is any sandbox content that you want me to check out!
Talk to you soon. DMVHistorian (talk) 23:05, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Many thanks! I'll get a bit done and come back. Lukewarmbeer (talk) 07:04, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well I've had a go. Would you be kind enough to have a look and see what you think. My sandbox
If you could make your comments in the draft article below the relevant section, perhaps underlined or in italics, that would be really helpful.
I'm not sure what to include as External Links or Bibliography (I've had a go at starting the latter)?
Also I'm not sure about the copyright on the images. For example I'd like to use this....
https://desertification.wordpress.com/2019/06/25/combating-desertification-green-dam-algerian-pioneering-experience/
Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Lukewarmbeer (talk) 19:58, 27 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message edit

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:37, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
