Billy Petrick

Any chance he is related to Ben Petrick, a former MLBer also from Kankakee? Kkemper

That is a good question. It's very probable, but I could not find any articles that mention it. If you know of a source that could confirm it, you could put it into the article. --Cyrus Andiron 13:42, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

deletion review of List of Philippine Presidents by longevity

I've asked for a deletion review of List of Philippine Presidents by longevity. Since you participated in the deletion discussion for this article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. -Fagles 20:26, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

speedy tags

Reasonable question. I have not the least quarrel with you placing the tag for the copyvio--perfectly appropriate thing to do , and I am glad you noticed when you were trying to document. I was not aware of it when I removed the incorrect tag another ed. had placed. I removed your tag when I removed the copyvio. Copyvio must be removed, but if the subject is N, stubbifying is another good way to do it.. DGG 13:25, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

As a commentor in the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/J.R. Chandler and Babe Carey debate, I thought you might want to know that the debate has been re-started at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/J.R. San Salvador crime section

it is not fair for san salvador to have a crime section if san salvador is goin to have one then one should be put on all latin american countries because they all have crime and particularly nicaragua has crime extreme poverty and many corruption issues and in the MS section i have article that are reliable that state that mexicans guatemalans and nicaraguans are part of the MS13 as well. okay it is not fair for san salvador like i said i will defenetly work on putiing one in every single latin american country or you can just take the crime section off san salvador wich is the best thing to do because it is not right at all for san salvador to be the only one with a crime section. if one coutry has it they all need one.

Concern

my concern is that it is NOT fair for san salvador to be the only central american country with a crime section if one must have one then someone or i need to take the time and make one for each and every central american country until then i dont and im sure many wont consider it right for san salvador to be targeted like that when every country has crime and fyi crime in san salvador has drastically gone down and i do have articles from newspapers that i can provide that have facts on crime and how it has gone down and how san salvador and el salvador period is safe enough as safe as the US is meaning there is certain areas like california has compton butthat odesnt mean the entire country is like that.

misplaced welcome

Eep! Thanks for the heads up. :) I saw the creation of what seemed to be a new user page and didn't even notice that it didn't have the "user" tag. --Moonriddengirl 13:29, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

please give an explanation

Dear Cyrus Andiron,

Would you please be so kind and explain me in simple words why exactly I can not publish an information about our absolutely non-commercial, non-profit organization (NGO)? And at the same time our colleagues, for example an NGO Abu Salama , are successfully placed in Wikipedia since quite a long time… Looking forward to hearing from you soon,

Best regards,

Anna Larina HEPCA Administrative Coordinator —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anna larina (talkcontribs) 08:42, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Reply The first policy that I'm going to point you to deals with conflict of interest. From your message, I see that you're an administrative coordinator at HEPCA. In your current capacity you should not be involved in editing or creating an article about the company. It's hard to avoid bias when you have a personal stake in the company. Next, all of the material in the article was lifted directly from here [3]. Unless you have permission to use that material, it should not be copy and pasted directly into a Wikipedia article. If you have permission to use the material, this link will tell you how to go about incorporating the text and notifying the proper adminstrators. Also, in order for an article to meet Wikipedias standards, the subject must meet certain criteria. For example, as a corporation it must meet the notability requirements of WP:CORP. Any information that is used in the article must be verified by multiple, non trivial, and reliable sources. I marked this particular as advertising because the material did not present a neutral point of view, mainly because the text was copied off the company website. I'm not going to comment on the other company article that you mentioned. There really isn't any point in debating the merit of one article over another. If you have further questions, I would be glad to answer them. --Cyrus Andiron 12:48, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
By the way, Abu Salama Society was deleted as a non notable company. --Cyrus Andiron 16:24, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Ten Floors

I removed the speedy delete tag from this article because it does make a claim at notability. However, it could be AFDed, and it'd probably pass since it isn't a very strong claim of notability. Darksun 13:20, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Apologies for the delay - the page now includes citable sources and references which back up the notability questions that have been raised regarding this page. Thanks. Jackgnic 18:07, 20 September 2007

Stated in your entry on the Ten Floors page was the fact that the Battle of the Band contest was local. This is incorrect as the contest was regional, therefore on much larger scale, with sources to confirm notability. Despite these sources being local the sources show this competition was larger than that. Also notability does include bands that are unsigned, as this is not criteria for every stage of a band's notability. The fact that the band is unsigned does not deter from the notability of the page, nor does it detract from a single being released in November produced by a major music industry player. Thank you for your input. We are new to this type of project and are working everything out to where our article is beneficial for other users. : ) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.90.204.99 (talk) 19:41, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Omerta (MMORPG)

Hi there Cyrus

My name is Steve Biddick, I am the CEO of Omerta Game Ltd. It sounds like a grand title, but it began as a joke, to be perfectly frank.

Omerta is our online game www.barafranca.com it did not begin as a joke, but as an ameteur project. It has since flourished into a very popular webgame (for example Alexa rate us as their top game). For an ad-hoc organization based on mostly volunteers, we are proud to have achieved more than 2.5 million registrations and have (briefly) been a top 10,000 website.

Our game has spawned a company which now employs 14 people in 4 countries. All of these people began their career with us as volunteers.

We *had* a carefully tended page on Wiki, which was put together by players and some of our volunteer crew.

But you *correct me if I am wrong* deleted it. You (ditto) seem to think that we are using Wiki to make an ad for our site.

This is SO not the case.

We are QUITE indignant. We see Wiki articles covering MANY webgames, many Client based games, even a semi-ameteur pop band with the same name as our game. Not many of these parallel products and CERTAINLY not the band can claim to have created so much interest on the web in such a short length of time.

We are even deleted from the list of MMORPGs when that list is PACKED with tiny minnows of games.

I really would like to see our pages restored to Wiki. We are very proud of our project and it is disappointing as GENUINE FANS of Wikipedia to see our cause *crassly* dealt with.

Why should Eve-Online or World of Warcraft be permitted pages which stay? Because they have more members? This is an argument to Keep *Elvis* but to DITCH Shakira... surely both are artists.

In respect of this metaphoric argument we are not making a stake as an 'unknown artist' - but as a well loved and well-recognised web community with a highly original approach to managing its volunteer community.

PLEASE restore our pages or let us make new ones. We implore you.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Omerta_(MMORPG)

There's a reference to the article itself. I am not much of a technician, or I would annotate this post with all sorts of colours and hyperlinks.

Our MAIN website is at www.barafranca.com, but volunteers translated us into 29 langauges already and this has spawned several single-language versions of Omerta

Tell us that Wiki sees just as much value in Omerta as in Ultima Online - tell us that PLEASE.

We love Wiki. We HATE that Wiki deleted all reference to our good work.

You may mail me (if that helps)

THANKS for being a volunteer on this wonderful resource. _o_

stevebiddick@barafranca.com

Kind regards

Steve Biddick

PS I *almost* donated the other evening, then remembered how your colleagues trashed our pride. If we are restored I will donate.

Then I will promote donation to Omerta's members. I will even put a permanent link to support Wiki into our sites. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Barafranca0 (talkcontribs) 16:42, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Yo

You sent a note saying "Please stop. If you continue to vandalize" I did an undo at the same time some else was, it was a mistake, look at the history. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.75.125.220 (talk) 18:42, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Umm... No. Here are the edit summaries. You added the same inappropriate comment twice. That's vandalism. [4], [5]. --Cyrus Andiron 16:41, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Once Again

Here is the history Do a compare

You clearly don't understand. Click on the links that I provided that show the history. On the left side is the article before you edited it. On the right side is the article after your edit. You added the inappropriate remark twice. Both article histories prove it. This isn't that complicated to understand. I correctly gave you the vandalism warning because you vandalized the article. I don't know how to explain it any better than that. --Cyrus Andiron 17:07, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Guidelines for removal query

Fedeltapos (talk) 23:41, 7 December 2007 (UTC) Cyrus, I refer to the user talk at User talk:206.126.19.10.

I have checked the guidelines and cannot find a reason as to why the link to http://fedeltapos.com would have been removed. My initial reaction was that the company name was different to the software name but other companies have followed this pattern and this is common in the software industry.

Could you please enlighten me as to the specific reason for removal or consider reinstating the edit?

Best regards,

Where's the Snack Mix?

Snack Mix was to fill in information missing in the list of snack foods. Thanks for trying to help but now how are people supposed to learn about various snack mixes rather than general snacks? Perhaps it would be nice if you'd check with people before redirecting their articles.

Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zadig9 (talkcontribs) 18:16, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

How about you leave snack mixes alone?

If mixed nuts can have it's own article I see no reason that snack mix can't have it's own. If you would like to add something be my guest, if you think there's information which is misleading or false, feel free to attempt to correct it. But if you have nothing better to do than redirect something because you feel it's too closely related to another topic, how about you quit being an egotistical kid an leave it alone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zadig9 (talkcontribs) 20:18, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
