I'm requesting the re-creation of a Doctor Steel Wikipedia page. I recently found some of his clips on Youtube, and found him quite entertaining. In doing some research I have found he has appeared on David Letterman, Jay Leno, and has toured throughout America and Europe. I know he is primarily an "underground" act, however he does have a devoted fan base, as well as minor notoriety due to being on top rated talk shows. I don't know a lot about him, but I am interested in knowing more. There are pages in the Wikipedia devoted to people, places, acts, movies, and, well just about everything else that are lesser known than Doctor Steel. I am just requesting, and I know I am not the only one out there to want this page created. He has a french entry, why not allow a English page to be made? Most people don't know where Cape Girardeau Missouri is, or know anything about it. Does that mean that page should be deleted as well? What about pages about scientists that no one has heard of or discoveries? Should they be deleted? I've noticed that is the largest complaint by the "administrators" about the past pages on Doctor Steel, so I submit, just because you may not be interested, or find the significance, should those of us who are, and those of us who do be forced to suffer for your point of view? - I second this movement and put forward that Dr. Steel has appeared on enough television shows and interviews to be deemed "notable". He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and various other programs. There was a very long, detailed, and sourced article that was removed without even a community vote. We've got apage in the Wiki that is devoted to a guy that has had one t.v. appearance and that was on an episode of Star Trek Voyager, but Dr.Steel can't get a page? A guy that has been on Jay, Dave, and I'm sure other shows. I'm just honestly curious about this "character" at this point and would like to know more. I have to agree. Someone who's been on Leno? That's national recognition. If Dave and Jay noticed him I'd say he was someone notable. And someone who was called a "great example" of Steampunk culture by MTV, and interviewed by several steampunk and sci-fi magazines? But if someone wants to further research that "great example" on Wikipedia, they would be stifled because unlike MTV, Wikipedia doesn't consider him significant. Yet far less significant people are listed in Wikipedia all the time. I think if an objective article was written about him and properly sourced it should be allowed to stand - or else Wikipedia needs to cull a lot of other articles just to be fair... which I don't think would really be fair. Steampunk bands Abney Park, Unextraordinary Gentlemen and Vernian Process all have Wikipedia pages and some of them have far less public notoriety but are also representative of the genre. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 10:34, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

I don't believe a mass petition would do any good. While I'll agree that the last entry was well-sourced and well-written and should have stood - it seems to me there was as much if not more source material in that entry as there are in a great many other indie bands I've noticed on Wikipedia - I think the way Dr. Steel's fans went about things soured the milk and made the editors want to dig in their heels. What we need is a calming down period, and for cooler heads to prevail. On both sides, IMHO. Dr. Steels fans need to stop spamming, and the editors stop deleting out-of-hand, and everyone just take a breather.
