Page histories edit

Hi Coolgamer. You marked Mistrial for a move to wictionary[1]. I just came across it randomly. I realised that actually what had happened was that a previous anon user had blanked the page[2]. I think that if you look at the current version you will agree that it's actually worth keeping this for expansion. There are a number of people going around vandalising pages. If you come across a page which is too short then it's often worth checking the history (actually that's always true..some vandalism is done quiet subtly). If you still think this needs to be moved then put the note in again and we'll discuss.

good catch edit

thanks for that, I guess at that point I was pretty much on auto-drive after about 20-ish articles.

Copyvios edit

Just because a website has identical text as one of our articles doesn't mean our article is a copyvio. In The 158-Pound Marriage the website you link to actually says at the bottom of the page that it was a copy of our article! Generally for articles created a long time ago, it's pretty safe to assume they are not copyvios. Theresa Knott (ask the rotten) 19:21, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Terri Schiavo edit

I reviewed your edits on the Terri Schiavo article. Congradulations on your restraint. I completely understand the impulse. I left the sentences added about Iyer because whether they added or detracted might be a toss-up. Anyway, my compliments and good hunting.--ghost 02:52, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Anarcho-capitalism edit

Hey there coolgamer, im really thankful for the edits you added to Grand Theft Auto 3 soundtrack, and also, you seem like a pretty good person to have around the 'pedia. I just wanted to correct something on your userpage: "anarco-capitalism" is actually spelled with an h, as in "anarcho-capitalism", but good for you on your beliefs of individuality! Trainwreck (band) article edit

I have rewritten this article to establish the notability of this band as per WP:music. Currently, it meets two criteria in having a notable member in Kyle Gass of Tenacious D and having completed a national tour. They have released a live album distributed through Epic/Sony and are working on a sudio album with Gass and John King of the Dust Brothers producing. I would be grateful if you could take a look. Image Tagging Image:Firerages.jpeg edit

This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Firerages.jpeg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Agnte 16:01, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:Morocca.jpg edit

With regards to Image:Morocca.jpg, the nosource tag stated that a source should be given so that others may verify copyright status. When you changed the tag, you did not provide a source for the image for others to verify its status. Therefore, the tagging was reverted. The message on the nosource tag is directed at the uploader. It is his or her responsibility to follow up. - Slo-mo 01:33, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

WP:DRV edit

Your comment on Wikipedia:Deletion review/Userbox debates, in which you compare the activities of a few sysops on the site to the deaths of millions under the Nazis, is completely inappropriate, regardless of what one thinks of the present situation. I urge you to strike it out and make an apology. Mackensen (talk) 12:11, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

First off, I just noticed that my German was off, so I'm not really saying anything. Second, sieg heil: The German-English translation means "hail victory". The Nazi meaning is "we will win". I believe we WILL win our fight to keep the userboxes. At the rate the deletions are going, this IS, to me, a war. Coolgamer 17:56, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
Leider verstehen Sie mich nicht. Für Sie zu sagen, dass Sie glauben, dass Sie wie die Nazis gewinnen, ist unerhört. Meinten Sie es wirklich?
My German may also be off, as I've not lived there for a few years, but what I said, roughly, is: Unfortunately you didn't understand me. For you to say that you believe you'll win (implying your meaning is similar to the common Nazi exhortation), is unheard of. Do you really mean that? Mackensen (talk) 18:35, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, I don't mean it in the same context. It's so often used that way it's what you think of, though. I did it on purpose in an attempt to convey sarcastic disapproval towards not only the rapid deletion, but the "war" attitude. Seriously, it's Wikipedia, and we're all fighting each other. Sarcasm does not commit to text well, and I've changed most of my old text to different statements. Coolgamer 18:41, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

Userbox deletion edit

Hi Coolgamer,

I'm glad you support userboxes and appreciate your support. However, if you list on Tfd, make sure it's a serious one, in case it IS accidently deleted, such as {{User nocol}}. Plus, it may look hypocritical on our part. Just keep that in mind the next time you Tfd something.

Now on April Fool's Day, that's a different story.(Well at least until everyone sees what I'm cooking up. Heh heh heh...) --D-Day Somebody talk to me. Please somebody! Anybody! 21:10, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your comments edit

I'm entirely unsure why you are angry with me about, and I feel that you've very much misjudged me.

"What if we don't? Like you just said, Jimbo, good buddy, you'll just mass delete them if we don't bend to your will. Who cares, right?"

I did not say that I would mass delete userboxes, and I have very much avoided saying anything to give the impression that people should "bend to my will" -- whatever that means.

I have tried very hard to remain careful, measured, neutral, and to ask everyone to follow a slow, thoughtful, loving path.

I am sorry that you have perceived things differently, and if you have any concrete suggestions about how I could help at this point, I am happy to hear them.

Replaceable fair use Image:Frolicbio1.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Frolicbio1.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. High on a tree (talk) 17:26, 16 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Coolgamer, it was about your talk page that increased tensions. Not because you had a different opinion than mines. Keep in mind that the "copyrighted images" issue may be false, however, as I was scanning through your talk page, it appeared that you were doing something like that. And keep in mind that I don't harass, unless I have been angered by the multiple negative responses simultaneously, which have almost no control over since I suffer from psychological disorders. If you are trying to get me blocked, you are getting yourself wrong. A few months ago, I have turned in a harassment report. A real harassment. The user was Prada de Lulz or something. Image copyright problem with Image:Logotbyte.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Logotbyte.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

But as I said at WT:FOOTY that is overruled by WP:ELNEVER. The footage is in breach of YTV copyright. Peanut4 (talk) 00:07, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't object to a still image of the event as long as it passes the rules for images. I do intend to take this to FAC. Any non-free image will get picked up there anyway.
As for the reasons for the footage, I think you ought to take that up with the correct authorities rather than put it here. West Yorkshire Fire Service, YTV, the Popplewell inquiry, councillors and politicians, at the very least, agree the footage should not be released and is instead only used for fire training. Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Speedy deletion nomination of Escape from the Everyday edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Escape from the Everyday requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 25 March 2018.
