Request reason:

I am posting under my own will, not on my companies time and I am not getting paid for this. It is absolutely absurd that you will let Cabelas and Bass Pro shop articles on your website (which mind you have a RIDICICULOUS amount external links to use as promotional links. Either some one pulled one by your editors or it wasn't caught but my page is no different than what theirs is. If it is any different I would please like to be explained how they are? I simply submitted a company overview and how the history of macks prairie wings was started, from the backbone of hardworking arkansas people. I didn't post any links, I didn't tell ppl HEY COME TO MY SITE like bass pro shop and cabelas do....and I sure didn't brag about how the company made a huge increase in sales when it went public like Cabelas does. THATS what you call advertising.....I simply stated historical facts about the company and its founders. If WIKI can't accept historical facts, what can it accept???

Decline reason:

Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops are large, nationally-known, notable companies. Macks prairie wings, not so much. In any case, you are not addressing the reason for your block. Some helpful links: WP:GAB, WP:NOTTHEM, WP:OTHERSTUFF, WP:COI, WP:NTravistalk 02:54, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I'm addressing your policy issues here not my blockage. What you have just told me completely goes against your non advertising policy, that or its ok to break it for corporate american companies such as bass pro. I would also like to let you know that we sell more volume in ammunition out of ONE store than cabelas and bass pro shop(each of those companies have numerous stores across the nation) which can be found on most ammunition manufacturers websites such as Winchester and Federal. So we are actually a nationally recognized company by hunters (which they would be the only ones interested in looking at the page anyways) I don't want to be a huge pain in your butt, but really? It seems quite unfair that a large company can advertise like no tomorrow on your website but a company that is not AS big as its competitors can't even post some historical facts about its company? I would like you to point out where there is any advertising material in my article? I don't even have a link back to my website.

Decline reason:

No valid unblock reason given from advertising only account. OhNoitsJamie Talk 03:48, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock|I have been in discussion with lessheard vanu about the reason why I have been blocked. He helped me to understand why I can't add the topic in the manner I am trying to add it(need sources, has to be a reputable area/store that has a large enough impact in the category to be published, etc.) He has given me a ton of help and I will work on my article to prove that it really is worthy to be on Wiki. I am not at all trying to advertise on wiki. We have hundreds of thousands of other places we can do that for free. I was a tad bit frustrated that it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be to put an article on here about macks and the impact it has on the waterfowling community. I will be working an article up that includes all of my sources (which none will come from macks, all will come from well known companies in the industry that review companies such as macks and the Stuttgart, AR location(which is known as the waterfowl capital of the USA). Our community has thousands upon thousands of ppl who come to our area at set times during the year. I will provide links/editors names, etc. so you can double check the sources to make sure I didn't cherry pick the articles. When I am finished I will run it by one of the editors and if its not up to par, I will work from there. I may need to post things like this in related topics such as duck hunting, goose hunting, etc.}}.

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

I'm unblocking with some trepidation, per WP:AGF and the blocking admin's willingness to give another chance. I suggest for your own sake you keep new articles to your userspace until one of the admins here (preferably LessHeard vanU) has approved of the content. Note that your continued right to edit this encyclopedia is dependent on complying with its policies; if you don't, it is unlikely that you'll be given time to get a fourth chance. Note to reviewing admin; I confirm that I have been in correspondence with the above editor, that I have explained (briefly) the ethos behind WP:COI and WP:V/RS, and that their responses do indicate an understanding of the principles of NPOV editing. I suggest that it is worth allowing the editor the chance to prove they can contribute usefully and within WP's policies and guidelines. LessHeard vanU (talk) 21:19, 27 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

We might give this editor a third chance, but I can't work up much enthusiasm. The deleted article Macks prairie wings, was truly, truly disappointing. Besides being written like advertising, it was folksy, boring and trite and had no sources. Though the business has been successful, the article gave no hint as to how that occurred. This editor was already been unblocked once and then went right back to the same behavior. How about letting him create a draft of the revised article here on this Talk page, and see how it turns out? If the article is policy compliant, he might be unblocked. EdJohnston (talk) 21:50, 27 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
See what Cmstrand1988 says... LessHeard vanU (talk) 22:01, 27 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I don't think allowing the editor a third chance in order to attempt again to create a self-posted article about a business is a good idea. I share your hope that the user can learn, but I would never endorse posting an article on a business that had been wholly written by a user under a conflict. If an article should exist, Cmstrand1988 should simply request that someone else create one and offer sources that can be used to help. Cmstrand -- do you have any interest in other editing? Mangojuicetalk 02:44, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cmstrand1988, if you are unblocked, I would suggest that you create your article in your userspace, i.e. User:Cmstrand1988/Mack's Prairie Wings, and ask for outside review before trying to move it to its own article. —Travistalk 01:54, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've unblocked you, but take TravisTX' suggestion please. Good luck, Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 13:52, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Cody, I am willing to mentor you and help you in writing the article in your space and giving you any advice you need - but please ask for help at every opportunity, and even if you are certain that you have things right just ask anyway. To start writing the article, click the redlink above in TravisTX's comment and start editing the page. I have it watchlisted, and will drop over as soon as I see any input.
