Edit Warring

edit

Hi Christopher3star! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of an article several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you.--VVikingTalkEdits 15:52, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

The publisher is aware that the article for Finis Jennings Dake contains errors which could be liable. I am trying to fix these errors for the publisher of Dake materials.Do you wish to continue to keep information which Dake Publishing rejects? I wish to create a proper page. Will you continue to disallow me that? The errors need to be corrected or deleted. Christopher3star (talk) 16:02, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you are directly associated with the content in question, then you may be subject to WP:COI and should not directly edit the page per WP:COIEDIT Raladic (talk) 16:07, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I am not directly associated nor do I work for them. I am trying to offer useful and positive true information about Finis Dake and his work. I am deleting that which is character assasinating and liable information. Christopher3star (talk) 16:11, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Are you trying to say liable "an adjective referring to the person legally responsible for something" or Libel: "published false statement that is damaging to a person's reputation." Because if it is the later please note No legal threats. --VVikingTalkEdits 16:18, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I am saying libel "published false statement that is damaging to a person's reputation."
Let's say a post on Elvis Presley only said "He was a womanizer who also made bad movies." That would be libel and let's say the article had no other information about his career.
You expect to have information relevent to his music and movie career. For Finis Jennings Dake there is little to no information about his career, just some negative information that may or may not be true but negative and defaming. I wanted to write good useful information about his work and accomplishments. That is what wikipedia should be for. Are you going to allow me to edut the page or not? Why are you blocking me? My edits are not disruptive. I am attempting to remove defaming information. I would think wikipedia would appreciate my contribution. Christopher3star (talk) 19:05, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

my intention was not to be disruptive but to remove flase information from an article that was libel and defaming and untrue to a person's name and character. Unblock my account as I have not done anything with bad or inappropriate intention.Christopher3star (talk) 19:33, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I can believe that you're not engaging in sock puppetry. However, from what you wrote below, it sounds like you're here only to engage in promotion. You can do that in a blog, but you can't edit Wikipedia like that. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 14:48, 20 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

What is your connection with the publisher and what is your interest in the reputation of a man who died in 1987? Criminal convictions certainly are relevant to a Wikipedia article- are you saying he wasn't convicted of a crime? 331dot (talk) 20:34, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have no connection with the publisher. I am a student of ths man's work and know his career well.

In any event, edit warring, as you did, is unacceptable. 331dot (talk) 20:37, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have no connection with the publisher. I am a student of ths man's work and know his career well. He may have been convicted but He maintained his innocency. Anyway, covictions of his personal life are distinct from his work and career which wikipedia said little to nothing about. Also, it was stated that his work was of personal opinion rather than biblical in the opinion of Christian Theologians. This is incorrect and unverifiable. There are many who acclaim his work. There are many corections that need to be made on this article and I was willing to give actual factual information. Christopher3star (talk) 20:52, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
How do I cancel my account? Christopher3star (talk) 00:11, 25 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I am saying that for example writing an article on Elvis Presley and saying he was a womanizer and made bad movies, although perhaps true or not is not appropriate for a wikipedia ... maybe a dirt newspaper like The Enquirer, but not wikipedia. What is appropriate is to provide information about his music and movie career. Very little information is given about the work and career of Finis Jennings Dake. The article obviously looks like a hit piece or attempt to defame. I wanted to focus on his work and contribution. Christopher3star (talk) 20:54, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
You mentioned information verified by the publisher. How do you know what they have and have not verified? 331dot (talk) 21:02, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I dicussed a number of items in the article to see if the publisher could verify the information but their knowledge of Finis Dake was not consistent with the information in the article. I mentioned many things in the article that they said were misnomers. For instance, no one I know considers his work to be of simply personal opinion as the article wrongly suggests. Where or from whom does this opinion come from? This is not verifiable. On the other hand, all written material is in some way opininionated so what is the point of such a statement but to discredit. However, this is not the point I am getting at. Even if Dake was guilty and convicted, that is not relevant to his work and career. His conviction although in public record is also personal information rather than professional and academic. For instance, if I read an article on Plato, I don't expect to read how many lovers he may have had or who he may have owed money to, or whether he ever had a civil court appearing, or how much he may have owed in taxes. I want to know what he wrote and what he stood for and the nature of his scholarship. That's what I would expect from an encyclopedia ... not a hit peice that sounds like "The National Enquirer".
I wanted to write about the many works and accomplishments of Finis Dake, what he taught and represented in academic scholarship. A true article with useful information. But it seems this is hard to do on wikipedia. Christopher3star (talk) 23:21, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
How do I cancel my account ? And why is it so hard to find? Christopher3star (talk) 00:17, 25 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
There is no way to "cancel" or delete an account, as all edits must for legal reasons be attributable to someone. If you no longer wish to participate here, simply stop using and abandon your account. If you change your mind later, you will need to request unblock under this account, as the block is on you personally, not just your account. 331dot (talk) 00:20, 25 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
