File source problem with File:Athersmith.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Athersmith.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

File permission problem with File:Rod Picott.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Rod Picott.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fali Ramadani edit

Hi, I was just about to create a redirect page from Fali Ramadani -> Abdilgafar Ramadani (which I just created) when I noticed you'd deleted an article previously. Can you take a look at the article I created please? I had not seen the previous article - does it exist somewhere in the ether? You raised a concern previously regarding WP:GNG. I think after Ramadani's nomination at Globe Soccer Awards in 2015 is enough to meet that? Thank you. -- HighKing++ 22:37, 8 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

August 6 TFA edit

Chris, the National League kicks off on Aug 6. There's nothing at TFA/R for that date, nor nothing scheduled yet.

It's Margate F.C.'s 120th anniversary season. Think the two of us could knock the article into good enough shape in time? --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 11:40, 19 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Reply to comments in FLC edit

To avoid hi-jacking the FLC, I just found it odd that you put the threshold at 50 to the main list, hadn't check yet both the 1-24 and the 50+, but now seems appropriate. Huge work in the Gillingham F.C. topic, you promoted them all circa 2008 and standards there were different, today it would require more work, but that applies to all of the FA/FL that were promoted back then. I know you're busy filling redlinks (been there recently), but if you can have a look at my FLC, it would be nice. --Threeohsix (talk) 18:21, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Extended confirmed protection edit

Hello, ChrisTheDude. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:49, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Maya and Kala edit

OK, so these albums have been featured articles since 2011 and 2010, respectively. It's been about ~15 days since AIM was released (amazing don't u think?; Kala was better tho). Kala's legendary status as one of the world's most critically acclaimed world music albums is also one of the reasons why it is a featured article (and how hard you and other editors worked on it, obviously). So, back to my point, AIM was released not very long ago and it's going to be like 3 weeks, probably, until everyone forgets who she is and moves on to the next electronic music trend. And considering this might be her LAST album (*cries*), she probably won't be seen in the public eye for a while, like a really long time, I'm talking Lily Allen long. And since I have no experience with consensus and templates and stuff, I was wondering if you could make a request for either of these articles to be featured next month. Yeah, whatever, just wanted to ramble about nothing. Oh yeah, btw what did you think of AIM? It's best in a car, in my opinion. Whatever, thanks for hearing me out! Invite to the African Destubathon edit

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins edit

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. New deal for page patrollers edit

Hi ChrisTheDude,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

A new user right for New Page Patrollers edit

Hi ChrisTheDude.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open! edit

FLC review request edit

Hey Chris! Could I trouble you to please help review my current FLC nom? It's been open since January and I already appealed to the WikiProject to no avail. So I'm kinda desperate for reviews. Cheers! —Bloom6132 (talk) 03:43, 21 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Can we get some input in resolving an edit dispute? edit

Hello ChrisTheDude. I am hoping that you can lend some assistance. Me and user GiantSnowman need assistance in resolving an edit dispute concerning the kit section that was in the Nigerian national football team article. He removed it citing WP:NOTGALLERY. I disagree with his interpretation and I have shared my reasons on the talk page at WikiProject Football. We request the input of members of this project in order to resolve this issue. Your assistance would be appreciated if you have the time. Thanks! unak1978 16:49, 29 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Margate edit

Are you a Margate supporter? Just wondering, as you've created an article or two. Just thought I'd say that http://www.margatefootballclubhistory.com/ has been relaunched and is fully back online, which'll allow any broken refs to be fixed. Cheers! Beatpoet (talk) 21:44, 2 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Joesph-Dubois edit

Hi ChrisTheDude, apologies if i am not doing this right (the talk thing), and thanks for your kind input and tone when helping me. I've had a read up, and have taken in a lot of information, both from Wikipedia angle and from citation point. I accept that it's a fine line. Given the fine line of the edit I have made, I appeal that it be reviewed and entered without the hardship of making me fight a corner (will do if needed with many reasons if required). For now thanks again for reaching out to me. Yours in football. Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Galesbury (talkcontribs) 17:17, 3 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination edit

Hi ChrisTheDude Not entirely sure how to go about following this up, and to be frank rather peeved/deflated/defeated with all this having only just started to get more involved in Wikipedia. I think I'd like to put a view across which gives weight to the notability inclusion, and also show by comparison how this entry - while grey area - warrants inclusion. Will try to offer an interesting discussion (must muster that energy!) - Now where do I go!!! Anyhow, thanks for your help.

FLC review request edit

Hey Chris! Could I trouble you to review my current football FLC nom? It's been opened for a month now, has received only one review, and I already appealed to the WikiProject to no avail. Leek Town F.C. scheduled for TFA edit

This is to let you know that the Leek Town F.C. article has been scheduled as today's featured article for November 4, 2017. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/November 4, 2017. Thanks! Ealdgyth - Talk 13:59, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the Club with a story: "A couple of weeks ago I had to drive through Leek and happened to pass the football ground, so I thought I'd stop and take a photo which could be added to the club's WP page. When I saw the feeble state of the article as it stood at the time I decided to try and expand it. I think I've done as much as I can, and I'm pretty pleased with the results, which have been peer reviewed, so I thought I'd bring it here to FAC."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:40, 4 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Hot Country Singles number ones of 1986, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Schneider (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Timothy Heller edit

Hello, Chris, how are you

My name is Gabriel and I've created a page for Timothy Heller (singer) on Wikipedia. The page is getting vandalized, though, since Heller is a rape victim and her allegedly rapist is a very famous singer, Melanie Martinez. Melanie's fans have been vandalizing the page and I'd like to ask you to "protect it" (I don't know how it's called exactly).

Please help me out. The page is Timothy Heller (singer)

FWA Footballer of the Year edit

I made five changes to this article (from my IP address, not this newly-created account) to give five players (Blanchflower, Matthews, Dalglish, Lineker, Barnes) credit for multiple wins. Three players (Finney, Henry, Ronaldo) already had such credit. I copied that same format for the five uncredited players.

Can’t understand why you chose to rollback my changes. I think the changes made the article more complete.
