Hey dude, thanks for helping me out with this off and on. I'm not sure all how wikipedia works yet with all its rules, but I just wanted my club to have a proper page. Gillingham players edit

Hey. I've looked them both up in the book and have updated the players pages. However, it's a bit dodgy with how this book gives years. In the "From" and "To" columns, it gives their season. As the book explains: "The year shown is the one in which the season started; e.g. 1888 means the 1888-1889 season. The start and end seasons are the first and last in which the player appeared for the club either in the League or the FA Cup..." So, for Bethell his Gillingham "seasons" are 1929 to 1934, so I've given his end date as 1935. And Whitelaw's final "season" is given as 1937, so I've given his as 1938. Oh, and no problem. Mattythewhite 14:51, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Of course. Page 25 for Bethell and 278 for Whitelaw. Mattythewhite 15:25, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Steve Bruce edit

Hi, just to point out that his wife's name is Janet not Julie, see Sunday Mirror (this one also gives his daughter's name) and for confirmation Express direct quote and Sun direct quote from Roy Keane. Do you want me to change it or will you?

Was going to mention the other books (they serialised one on the radio, it was dreadful) but i see you've found them. cheers, Struway2 | Talk 07:24, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

in this match report he mentions beating Liverpool being a nice way to celebrate his 20th wedding anniversary, so they must have married on or around 23 Feb 1983. But as you say, one wouldn't argue with Roy Keane ;-) Struway2 | Talk 07:54, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

ROTR talk page edit

Hey man... thanks for keeping an eye out for perceived vandalism - but that edited comment was actually mine! I was on a different machine, and hadn't realised I wasn't logged in. I know you're not usually meant to edit comments on talk pages, but I've been in email contact with the guy who runs the ROTR site, and he remarked that having that comment at the top of the talk page doesn't paint him or the site in a great light, particularly as the site is now much-improved. I'm keen to foster a good relationship with him and with Egmont in the interests of getting info and permission for pictures in the article, so I thought in this instance I'd just quietly edit my comment...

Also, he emailed me to explain why he'd removed the stuff on Players Inc. I'll C&P his comments into the article's talk page, so that the reason can be seen, but essentially, the Metro article was actually completely inaccurate. Cheers for still keeping a vigilant eye on it, though! Seb Patrick 09:34, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Exit 0 (1987 Steve Earle album).jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Exit 0 (1987 Steve Earle album).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Hi. You added the data for Almer Hall. Are you sure he played for Bradford City A.F.C.. I've no record of him playing for us at all. I've noticed the link to http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/ but the Bradford City section has no record for him. Either he was at us without playing or its Bradford Park Avenue A.F.C. No worries. I guess he was just another war-time footballer. I'm just going through the list of City players and it threw me for a second. Though there were a couple who were down as City instead of Park Avenue. Peanut4 09:00, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:AylesburyUtd.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:AylesburyUtd.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:42, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removal of Football in England Template edit

I noticed you removed the Football in England template from the Spennymoor United F.C. article. I placed it there because there was no easy way to get to other pertinent articles regarding English football from the Spennymoor United article as the club is defunct and, therefore, there is no league or conference template. If you could point me to the rule that says no F in E template for clubs, I'd be appreciative, as many other clubs have this template. For example, SUFC's successor club Spennymoor Town F.C. has the F in E template, and more prominently, articles like Preston North End F.C. and Cardiff City F.C. have the F in E template in them, among many other examples. It appears to me that the only club articles that do not have the F in E template are Premiership club articles, probably bacause the Premier League has its own special set of templates (see at the end of the Bolton Wanderers article for an example). In the absence of a specific rule to the contrary, I think that the F in E template should be put back in the Spennymoor United article. Friejose 12:41, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dorsetts edit

Hey. The book states they were both born in Brownhills and both of them are on page 77. And good luck with the list, I think I'll take a look soon. I think I'm going to have to do league only stats for the York list - I don't have a source for all appearances from 1990-1996, which is very frustrating. I've got one tiny little comment now, and I'd say that's about it for me to support. Oh, and could you maybe take a look at the peer review for the York players if you have any time? And I'd be banking on a repectable scoreline against Rushall Olympic (admittedly I've never heard of them..) - York beat Newcastle Benfield 1-0 in last season's qualifying round - and they're on a lower level of the pyramid than Rushall.. FL Main page proposal edit

You nominated a current WP:FLC. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1 2007, voting starting December 1 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual main page will resemble either an excerpted list format or an abbreviated text format. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. Right now debate seems to be among support for the current selective democratic/consensus based proposal, a selective dictatorial approach like that used at WP:TFA or a non-selective first in line/calendar approach like that used at WP:POTD. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 16:24, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey! I'm back to help edit more articles enough to remove the stub off the articles, I had two articles to do that with your help, now I decided to focus on this article called A.F.C. John McMillan (football manager) edit

Hi Chris, I'm just adding links to various Bradford City A.F.C. footballers, one of which is John McMillan and came across this above article you created. The John McMillan who played for us, was born in Port Glasgow in 1871, was signed in 1903 from Small Heath, played for us until 1906 when he left to go to Glossop. I know your entry says John McMillan (football manager) didn't play, but just wanted to check it wasn't the same person before I make a new entry. Cheers. Peanut4 23:57, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Brownhills edit

Hello ChrisTheDude,

Thanks for the contact about Brownhills. Don't worry too much about the whole built environment thing - I suggested it as when I put my local town - Shaw and Crompton - through FAC, it was raised by administrator that there should be something, if just a sentence about it. I thus know it is hard to get hold of source material about this.

Of course though, it just means what kind of buildings are you likely to find in the settlement and where. So is it two storey terraces, or post-war semis, or high-rise flats, skyscrapers, bungalows? Are there any parts of the town that are destinctive, perhaps some areas contain older/newer buildings?

One other thing is that I'd recommend putting your images between the section heading and the text - it just looks neater. Though to be honest, what you've produced is of FA standard without these recommendations - I will give it my support asap. -- Jza84 · (talk) 00:05, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Priestfield Stadium edit

I've added a couple of sentences based on the Simon Inglis book I have. I'd like to add more, but some of it goes into unnecessary detail or else is written in a way where it is difficult to lift specific facts. Also some of it is based on the state of the ground in 1983, which also makes it tricky to integrate, but I'll have another read through and see if there's anything else that can be added. I have no idea what a "smoking concert" is by the way. It conjures up images of Noel Coward or Jeeves & Wooster. There is no Wikipedia entry for this phrase, so perhaps one should be added or if not we should perhaps put the phrase in quotes or italics in the article? Cheers. --Jameboy 20:04, 14 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Featured List of the Day Experiment edit

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 00:53, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
