My Request for Adminship

Thank you for your support in my my RfA, which passed with a tally of 117/0/1. I hope that my conduct as an admin lives up to the somewhat flattering confidence the community has shown in me. Hopefully, I will soon demonstrate on Wikipedia that I am worthy of the communities trust as a sysop in the same way as I have done on Commons to the community there. Please don't hesitate to leave a message on my talk page should you need anything or to discuss something with me.--Nilfanion (talk) 22:59, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Yay

High five (and thanks!) for converting so many images to SVG—SVG kicks bootayyy. :D drumguy8800 C T 03:25, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Also, .. how do you make text work with SVGs on wikiprojects? For some reason when I use text on Inkscape and upload it, the text never appears. drumguy8800 C T 03:27, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure why you're having trouble with text. I just use Inkscape's text tool, nothing special... Maybe you're using some odd font? ~ Booya Bazooka 02:33, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Another high five for the SVG work! 128.158.145.51 16:09, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello

I have found an error on one picture in wikipedia. I dont know, how to correct it, and i have found, that you have "reworked" it. So you could help me correct it. It is the picture

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Binary_search_tree.svg

The error is, there are two "7". One on top and one on the bottom. That can't happen in binary search tree. It would be a correct tree if you would replace the top "7" with an "8". Thanks

Fair use rationale for Image:A_Day_No_Pigs_Would_Die.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:A_Day_No_Pigs_Would_Die.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ↔NMajdantalk 14:48, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Well the condition that it only be used to identify atheism would aparently make it non-free despite the otherwise ilberal license (does not allow unrestricted use). I would asume that's why it's tagged with no less than two non-free copyright tags pluss the statement "As copyright holder, I believe Wikipedia's use of the logo falls under fair use(...)". Wikipedia policy does not allow images used under fair use claims to be used outside of articles in the main namespace. --Sherool (talk) 11:04, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Edits by 69.238.49.88 to User:Booyabazooka/Donation

I reverted several suspicious edits by 69.238.49.88 to your user subpage, which consisted mainly of changing the donation figure to 150,000.00 and and a congratulation ("Nice woork Booyabazooka!"). But if you really had donated such a large sum, I think you would have set the record. +A.0u 05:50, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Van Allen Belt

Hello Booyabazooka, you draw a nice picture about the van Allen belt: Image:Van Allen radiation belt.svg.

Would it be possible to take some extensions into account?

  1. Drawing the dipole direction out of center, like in this example: image:South_Atlantic_Anomaly.png. Only the right lower corner of belt is in very close contact with earth, the South Atlantic Anomaly.
  2. Including figures like this: [1], ie. distance from earth and particle density.

In case you find some spare time you may contat me here.

Best regards, Dantor 21:10, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

It's a pity. But thanks a lot for your reply! Best regards, Dantor 21:22, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Image:Drawball may20.jpg

Hello, Booyabazooka. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Drawball may20.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Booyabazooka/Sandbox/Drawball. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 02:54, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

SVG conversion: Thanks!

Howdy. I know it's been a year since you did this, but I just noticed the SVG conversion you did for Image:Sudoku-by-L2G-20050714.svg. Looks good. Thanks! —LarryGilbert 20:03, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Your RFC

I would be willing to change my vote if you elaborated a bit on your views. If I have mistaken your stances then I'll change my vote to support. What does WP:IAR mean to you? It says that if a rule is preventing wikipedia from being improved then it should be "ignored". That's fairly clear. Does it mean something different to you? If you came upon a situation where obeying the policies actually hindered Wikipedia, would you ignore the policy? Wikidudeman (talk) 17:22, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Your RfA was unsuccessful

I have closed your RfA. I am afraid there was no consensus to promote you. Please address the concerns raised, and feel free to reapply in the future. Good luck. --Deskana (banana) 23:20, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry your RFA did not pass. Give it time, and re-apply in a few months. Politics rule 23:38, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
That's a shame. I do hope your next RfA will be successful. Acalamari 03:26, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

==Wikimania in Atlanta!==

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 08:58, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Asus Eee PC edit

This is a response to your edit of the Asus Eee PC article.

Are you sure the chip is soldered on board to save wiring? I've always thought soldering chips rather then using connectors is done to improve reliability. Connectors have (relatively unreliable) contacts while on the other hand once something is soldered, it generally won't move and thus it can't break.

I don't think adding or saving a few routes on the PCB is a big deal. 24.81.130.107 08:00, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

No, I have no idea why the chip is soldered to the board. All I did was rewrite that sentence for writing style. ~ Booya Bazooka 15:28, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
My point is you shifted the meaning of the sentence from uncertain assumption to a certain statement which - in the end - may not even be correct. 24.81.130.107 15:50, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
That's sort of my idea in making this change. There shouldn't be uncertain statements. It should be cited to show its correctness, or otherwise be removed from the article. Phrasing it to express doubt doesn't really help anything and just masks the issue. ~ Booya Bazooka 16:38, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

question on image http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Rubik%27s_cube.svg

hello! how did you draw this image? did u some software that can draw 3d rubik's cubes or did u just use inkscape?

thank you very much! and congrats on getting adminship! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.9.2 (talk) 13:06, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

I drew it in Inkscape on top of a photo. And what makes you think I have adminship? ;) ~ Booya Bazooka 16:56, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

oh... i thought you are an administrator... oops... oh so u just used inkscape? any other software? how did u add the gradient effects and the white reflection lighting in between the squares? could u upload the inkscape file somewhere? just want to see how it's done. it's really professionally drawn... many thanks!! :)

Just Inkscape, it's actually fairly simple. Each little shiny spot is an object with a black-white gradient fill. The svg is on the Commons, so you can just download the .svg file and open it in any SVG editor. ~ Booya Bazooka 15:25, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you! =) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.9.2 (talk) 04:11, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
