I have made edits to the following page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_shower because the page is outdated. My edits contain useful and up to date information. Traditional baby showers have changed and my edits contain new changes while still respecting and reflecting tradition. One example is as follows: "Traditionally, baby showers are given only for the family's first child, and only women are invited,[2] though this has changed in recent years, now allowing showers being split up for different audiences: workplace, mixed-sex, and feminist.[3] Activities at baby showers include gift-giving and playing themed games."
The edits I made indicate that baby showers are for the first child and that subsequent babies have a baby sprinkle. This is accurate and can be verified. I also said that celebrations for men are called "diaper parties." Furthermore, baby showers do not just include gift giving and playing themed games. Other important parts are the gift opening tradition and participating in baby shower activities.
Another example from the existing text:
"Baby shower games vary, sometimes including standard games such as bingo, and sometimes being pregnancy-themed, such as "guess the mother's measurements" or "guess the baby". These games help let the close friends attending the shower bond with the mother, and enable the new family to say thanks ahead of time, figuring out who is willing and able to help them with the challenges of bringing up a child."
This too is outdated. Yes, baby shower bingo is still played but I included the most common and most popular baby shower games currently played also. The reasons stated for people playing games are also inaccurate and outdated.
I have used http://tulamama.com/ as a reference. This is a reputable site for baby showers.
I read Wikipedia daily but I have never before made edits so I do apologize if I was a little overzealous with my edits but I felt, and still feel that the information on this page is vastly outdated. I do not feel it would be helpful to anyone who is looking for updated information about baby showers.
