Scouting article work edit

If you are getting this, it is because you do or did work on Scouting articles (see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Scouting#Participants_and_primary_areas_of_interest).

As the Scouting WikiProject has been formed since early January 2006, we've had many great improvements made in this area of Wiki and I want to personally thank everyone for their help. We don't always agree on things, but we keep moving forward. YIS, Rlevse 22:09, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Greetings! My name is Garrett Fitzgerald, and I've lived in Brewer for the past year. I just thought I'd check in with the rest of the Maine Wikipedians to see if there was enough interest to start organizing a Wikipedia:Meetup somewhere in the state. Only to the point where he's being a dick edit

If he makes a legitimate edit to his page, I leave him alone. If he does stuff like spamming unblock requests or falsifying a message from another user, especially an admin and I'm on him like stink on a skunk. HalfShadow 23:50, 19 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

MIT Dorms edit

Please leave MIT dorm materials alone. Much of the history from the 1960s and 1970s is not documented in official literature for obvious reasons (felonious behavior by the participants). But there are records that are hard to document. Most of the publications have been lost or destroyed--the MIT Archives started storing student publications only recently (in late 1980s). Much of the Monday/Thursday collection from the late 1970s/early 1980s has been preserved in what can only be described as "internet rumors"--in reality, a version of modern oral history. There is more evidence of the events taking place as described than there is of any part of the Odyssey and the Illiad, of King Arthur and Robin Hood combined. No encyclopedia written by sane people would completely dismiss oral history--it may not be 100% accurate, but it is often less biased than printed sources. Alex.deWitte (talk) 00:44, 17 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Not sure why the title is now "Brown and Coakley". But I got your message. When reverting, I did edit the text to eliminate narrative. Since I'm not the person who initially posted it, I don't have their resource (presumably personal recollections of the same person or friends). For the moment, I simply put the questioned material in quotes, leaving the citation as is. I've organized a group to research this particular topic, but my primary interest is in Bexley--others will take care of other dorms. I'll post more as it becomes available. Alex.deWitte (talk) 15:27, 18 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I did not change the title here. I got both your messages and I completely agree that the content does not "sound" encyclopedic. I will pay a visit to the MIT archives to see if I can get any clean information on these subjects. I know the statement to be accurate, even though it is "personal remembrances". But finding actual published material is not easy. I will see if the Archives have Mondays and Thursdays from the period. If not, there is precious little one can find in other sources.
