KhanzotChinev
Hey Cassiopeia, how are your injuries again? I hope it at least doesn't hurt as bad as it used to. Well, just wanted to know if you anything about this guy/girl "KhanzotChinev"? Why does s/he try to troll and act like a high-ranked user when s/he has got less than 100 edits? I saw that s/he wrote a "Welcome" message on your page, then told you to count to 5 if you were mad and that you weren't qualified to be on English Wikipedia due to the language not being your first (I think you're American, lol). Now s/he has been pretty annoying while editing Khamzat Chimaev and he just deletes everything on his/her talk page, sooo... what's the deal with him/her? PabloLikesToWrestle (talk) 15:53, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
- PabloLikesToWrestle Good day. I am very sorry that I was not available yesterday and I saw the edits today and I wish I was around to advice you on this matter prior the 3RR warning. If there is a content dispute, (after one or two revert edits), take the discussion to the article talk page and stop reverting the dispute content until an agreement is reached. You might not know but Chinev knows, as he has been warned before (check their history log on their talk page), that if an editor revert more than 3 times on the same page within 24 hours they will blocked from editing. (we give them 3RR warning on their 3rd revert edit and report them when they made the 4th). Since the matter has been reported, I believe both of your will be temporary blocked from editing (the duration will be subjected to admin decision. The admin might also ban one or both of your from editing the page. Usually I would be around to updating UFC related pages during the fights; however, my network has some problems and I could not access to many websites, as as such I just took a day off from editing. I am truly sorry I was not around to help you. Come back to editing when you are back from the banned and so seek advice if you are not sure of anything. Take good care and stay safe. NPPS
Hi Cassiopeia, sorry to be bothering you with this. I was wondering whether you've had the chance to mark my final exam for the NPPS. I know it's a lot to mark, but I'd just be grateful for an update. Best, Modussiccandi (talk) 10:28, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
- Modussiccandi I have marked part 1 and will work on the rest soon. Sorry for the delay. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 06:51, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Request for CVU Training
Hello! I’m fairly new to Wikipedia (or at least I think I am anyway. I was looking through the methods of how to get actual Counter-Vandalism training under my belt, and read about how certain users were designated “trainers” who could teach newer users like myself about CV and the ins and outs of how to effectively perform it. I saw in the CVU trainer section that you had two spots available for trainees. If those spots are still available, I would love to be able to learn from you and eventually use those skills to help the Wikipedia community in a more productive way. I have a little experience in combating vandalism, but no formal training or instruction from any experienced CVU personnel. Please let me know if you have a spot open and are able to teach a new student a thing or two. Thank you, and I hope to hear back from you!
Sincerely, KW Kalariwarrior (talk) 06:22, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Kalariwarrior, Good day. I have a look at your Wikipedia user page - here and noticed that even though you have joined Wikipedia about a year now but you have only a total of 256 mainspace edits. For such I would recommends you to finish the short WP:TWA program first to familiar yourself with the fundamental Wikipedia guidelines. Once you have done that, then pop back here and let me know. Do note the CUVA program do take a lot of reading and homework time if you want to participate. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:05, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply! I’ll read through that and let you know when I’m finished :) Kalariwarrior (talk) 13:26, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

Knockdowns
Hello Cassiopeia, I have a question that's been puzzling me for a while: when describing an MMA bout in a fighter's article, is it allowed to mention knockdowns in it? Regarding the recent Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier bout I described that despite knocking Cannonier down, Whittaker won the bout via unanimous. It was reverted with message "doesn't follow" (follow what?), but I cannot find anything regarding describing bouts verbosely at least from here Articles about mixed martial artists. In boxer articles the bouts are very verbosely described, and in my humble opinion the knockdowns play pretty significant role in MMA also. Ticelon (talk) 16:17, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Ticelon Good day. Could you pls provide hist diff pls for "was reverted with message "doesn't follow"" for I am not sure which page you were referring to. The basic guidelines is the content of any article, besides it should be supported by independence, reliable sources, the content should be written in WP:NPOV (neutral point of view) (not WP:PUFF or any words/phrase that is enhancing the subject in any manner). Thus, we just start the info with adding words to lead the readers in certain way/direction. Example: Instead of saying "XXX knocked out YYY in just 59 seconds." or "XXX demolished YYY in the fight after three rounds of fighting", we would say "XXX won the fight via knock out in round one" or "XXX wont the fight via unanimous decision with the scoreboard of 30-25, 30-25, 30-25. As per your question, you can use knockdown, if the sources indicated it, but do not interpret the fight, just state the actual action and not every fight we need to elaborate but for only certain fight. I hope I answer your question. By the way, thank you very much for your tireless contribution to MMA articles. Truly appreciate it. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:24, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- Cassiopeia Thanks for the reply. Sorry if I placed my words wrong, the sentence could be interpreted that you reverted the change but it was Nedochan, here is the link. The referenced article outright says it "Cannonier stumbled to the cage and Whittaker knocked him down with punches." Anyway thanks for the lining, I'll continue elaborating the bouts with knockdown notes where they are significant and I have references to them. And thanks for taking note on my work, I'm trying my best to improve articles with emphasis on older fighters and their team timelines, backgrounds etc :) you're making excellent work yourself also! Ticelon (talk) 07:34, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- Ticelon, As per [your link, I believe the issue is copy editing (ce), as if Whittaker was knocked down and went to win the fight then it makes sense as the word "despite" didnt really make sense with the sentence followed after that. User NEDOCHAN is a English teacher (English as the Foreign language teacher) and he is one of few regulars MMA editors in Wikipedia correct or reword/phrase the sentences in countless MMA fighters' pages. Stay safe Ticelon and enjoy UFC on ESPN 19 tmrw. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:07, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Post-block
Hello Cassiopeia, I wanted to thank you for your efforts on helping me out, despite me not being a white sheep on the discussion. That is in the past now and if taken the right approach it will only help me for the future. I already apologized to KhanzotChinev and asked him if he wants to civilly discuss the content at Khamzat Chimaev or if he will just leave it there. I intend to discuss from a neutral point of view as an editor, rather than as a guy who lets people on the internet get under his skin. Once again, thanks. PabloLikesToWrestle (talk) 15:40, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- PabloLikesToWrestle Good day and welcome back. There are many content disputes in MMA fighters' pages especially among new editors and I have mediated a number of the disputes. We are all here to improve and work on the article, and to help and support each other is what we all do. I might not explain well last time, so let me explain again as there is a different between being civil and being NPOV (neutral point of view) - see the different below.
- Writing the content of the article - we need to write the content in a neutral point of view as per source without using WP:PUFF words/phrases.
- Talking to other editors in talk pages - we communicate in a civil manner, without personal attacks and comment on the content and not the editors.
- Do write to me if you have any questions or need any help for anything if you are not sure. For things that you are not sure of, pls wait for me to reply before further actions/edit the page. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:22, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

- Cassiopeia What if they haven't fought for the UFC yet and got released? HeinzMaster (talk) 06:36, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- HeinzMaster, I believe you were talking bout Zhenhong Lu. As long as the fighter do received a contract (with source) then we would record their release on List of UFC fighters and 2020 in UFC page. However, since he has yet to be debuted in UFC, no change under Countries of Origin section. For Zhenhong Lu release, the source is here. Stay safe and best. HurricaneTracker495's participation in CVUA
It is my opinion that their continued participation in CVUA needs to be reconsidered. On their talk page, multiple editors have expressed concerns that (to be brief) they are diving too deep, too early, into the administrative areas of the project, in particular overly bitey behavior towards a new user. This was a recent example of them giving wrong advice (CheckUser cannot by itself be used to determine if two users are two people who know each other). This doesn't give me confidence that they are ready to go into counter-vandalism just yet, and thus my advice was for them to stay out of counter-vandalism or other patrolling and stick to just content creation, but since my message they have continued patrolling.--Jasper Deng (talk) 02:44, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- I wouldn’t consider countervandalism quite like that. Yes, sometimes I do get overly harsh when I can’t tell but when the fog is clear, I can tell. Maybe I only revert blatant vandalism and not good faith edits? HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 03:02, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- I will leave that up to Cassiopeia, as they are taking up a WP:MENTOR-esque role here, but I am concerned that your explanations of policy to new users can be inaccurate and WP:BITEy. As a general rule of thumb, if you have to explain a policy to someone, chances are it's WP:NOTVAND.--Jasper Deng (talk) 03:05, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- And that’s something I am most likely going to learn in CVUA. Please don’t discourage me from doing it, and instead encourage my instructor to go over it. HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 13:44, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Jasper Deng and HurricaneTracker495: Good day.
- Jasper, thank you for bringing this to my attention - appreciate it. I can see the reason why you wrote to me. Upon checking on HurricaneTracker495's talk page, I have to say it surprised me that so many complains and number of communication happened in one day.
- Jasper Deng and HurricaneTracker495, I have come across many participants who have behaved a lot worse that of HurricaneTracker495's, where their request to participate in CUVA or NPPS were declined or removed mid way into the programs. The issue here is that HurricaneTracker495 has simply gone ahead of themselves as the new editor in Wikipedia where they put themselves in so many predicaments by wrongly interpret the policies, placed unnecessary warning templates and among others. To know the basic Wikipedia guidelines do take time let alone to apply them correctly. We all were new editors once and we remember the long steep learning curve, like a herculean task, when we started editing Wikipedia. If we seek help, willing to listen to the advice from more experience editors and mentors, take our time and edit constructively, we surely learn eventually.
- HurricaneTracker495, In Wikipedia, we have certain guidelines that we follow and certain norm which editors should adhere to. Unlike in the cooperate world where I used to work, in Wikipedia we try to educate and support other editors when they need help and deter editors who trying to harm Wikipedia, as such communication is a big factor among editors and we usually would take the advice of the experienced editors. The edit made by User Casiotone Nation was not an test edit, non constructive nor conform with our policies and guidelines. Not doubt secondary sources are adviced to be used to support the claim but in certain circumstances primary source can be used. User Casiotone Nation mainly move the citation from body text to the infobox and resued source. Every editor makes mistakes, including I and we apology when we noticed/have been informed by other editors of our errors. I have apologies my mistakes many times in counter vandalism work especially when I made the edit/revert a little too fast which I should not have. Pls apology to User Casiotone Nation in their talk page and in your talk page to smooth things over, to settle the issue. You can participate in CUVA and learn some basic counter vandalism work via CUVA under guardian and mentor would help your better than you learn it by yourself; however, with the conditions that (1) you would stop reverting / placing warning templates in editors' pages, (2) stop reporting or raising issue in WP:ANI/sock puppets report until I advise you that you can do so and (3) stick to normal content editing for now. I will expand the normal CUVA program for you to familiar with the guidelines and the application prior actually doing the counter vandalism work. If you agree with my proposal above, then I will post a message on your talk page of the agreement, and do get other editors to inform me should you break the agreement for I will remove you from the CUVA program. Lastly, slow down on your editing as Wikipedia is always here and enjoy the learning process. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 03:19, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- Well, I forgot to see it for now. Hmmm, ok, but then, what do you necessarily mean by expand? --HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 20:00, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- HurricaneTracker495. I dont quite understand what you meant by "I forgot to see it for now", kindly elaborate your thought/explain further. As for your question above, I would there will be more vandalism-related exercises in the program where by you need to work on without actually revert/placing warning messages on editors' talk pages prior doing the actual counter vandalism work, and other info/discussions/exercises which might be slightly outside of this program. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 21:23, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

HurricaneTracker495 mentoring
Hiya. Just a note that I've offered to mentor HurricaneTracker495. I'm hoping to help them work more positively with other editors, and to focus on the areas that they are strongest in and most interested in. I'm hoping to mainly be a friendly face that they can ask questions to, and don't intend for it to conflict with your CVUA work - but let me know if you have any concerns or want to talk through. Best, Darren-M talk 23:06, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- @HurricaneTracker495 and Darren-M: Good day Darren-M, Thank you for informing that you have offered to mentor HurricaneTracker495. It is very kind and supportive of you to do that. There is no conflict between us if HurricaneTracker495 choose to accept my conditions to be their trainer.
- HurricaneTracker495, I saw further comments by other admin and editors on your talk page. Some of them I have dealt with on the past such as admin GeneralNotability (formal user name is Creffett) was my CUVA trainee who graduated from CUVA program six months ago and became admin the following month. All of them who commented on your talk page are actually trying to advise you to step back from editing on area which you are not yet quite familiar with. Take me as the example, I am more conservative than most editors, some CUVA trainers have 5 or 10k counter vandalism edits and would think they are ready to be CUVA trainers, but for myself I became CUVA trainer after I have 30K counter vandalism edits and became NPPS trainer after 120K edits. I am not saying you should make thousands of thousands of edits before editing in the areas of your interest, for every editor have different capacity of understanding the guidelines and their application and some of them would make a better judgmental call then the others but all I am saying is that take your time to learn first before venturing into some complicated areas of the encyclopedia. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:50, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
- I hear you it's that yes, reverting certain things is complicated but reverting blatantly unhelpful edits shouldn't be. --HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 16:17, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
- @HurricaneTracker495:. The issues is that with many editors and admin raised concerned about your edits, understanding of the guidelines and their applications, there are certain edits which might not be considered blatantly which you might think they are. If you wish to accept the conditions then I will add more questions and modify the program I have set out, if you dont want to accept the conditions then that is fine by me and I will inform the rest of the editors/admin/CUVA trainers of your case and your decision of not accepting the conditions and not wanting to participate in the CUVA program in your talk page . If I dont hear from you by end of this Friday, 11 December 2020, then I would take it that you answer is a no. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 20:46, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

Please advise: Editing Film Article Under The Stadium Lights That Has Wrong Person
I'm a professional actress in the film Under The Stadium Lights. I am one of the main actors in this film. It didn't list me in the article when I found it, so I edited it. But when I did, it linked to the wrong person, an Irish poet named Bridget Fitzgerald. Can you please help me figure out how to fix? Thanks and best wishes! - Smileybridge73 (Article Under the Stadium Lights) Good day and thank you for the question above. Frist of all, since you are one of the actors in the film which means you have a conflict of interest (COI) seeWP:COI here. You should not edit any pages/articles in Wikipedia if you have a COI but you can make a Wikipedia:Edit requests on the article talk page (make sure to provide source) and any interest editor could edit on your behalf. Secondly, the reason why it was link to an Irish poet is because the is no article of you in Wikipedia page. There are only one Bridget Fitzgerald who wa the Irish poet and the other is Bridgit Fitzgerald who died September 19, 1898 in Wikipedia. An actress/actor need to meet WP:NACTOR notability guidelines to have a page in Wikipedia. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:13, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
New Page Patrol December Newsletter
Hello Cassiopeia,
- Year in review
It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

10 | Utopes (talk) | 3,958 | Patrol Page Curation |
- Reviewer of the Year
John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.
- NPP Technical Achievement Award
As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

CVU Training Request - TWA Completed
Hello again! I'm not quite sure if you remember me, but a little over a week ago, I asked if I could receive instruction from you to become part of the CVU. You asked me to complete the TWA program, and then contact you again. I have completed the TWA program, and, if a spot is still open and you're still willing, I'd love to be taught about counter vandalism from you. Thanks, and I hope to hear back from you soon! Kalariwarrior (talk) 02:24, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
- Kalariwarrior Good day. I have set up the program for you. As per your talk page under message titled " December 2020", pls go to WP:ANI to raise your issue and not on your talk page. However, pls make sure you have evident (provide hist diffs) and it issues is worth to be addressed for ANI is the last resort before you have communicted with the editor(s) and do the best you can to avoid it. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 22:31, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
- Cassiopeia, thanks for setting it up for me. I’m afraid that editor has been creating problems for me and a few other editors for a while now. In fact, the issue over them was already taken to WP:ANI, but was sadly not addressed and the topic was later archived. The anonymous user in question has not only received bans multiple times for disruptive editing, but also has a confirmed record of block evasion, combined with rude and sarcastic comments, followed by threats of banning and the like as you saw in the topic on my talk page. It appears that this editor views anyone who disagrees with them as “attacking them.” Sadly, WP:ANI has been unable to do anything about it, so none of us are quite sure as to what to do at this point. CVU Academy Training
Hello! I'd like to join the Counter-Vandalism Unit Academy, and I noticed that you were one of the available trainers from the list. I've been doing some recent changes patrolling for vandals myself, but I feel that I'm too rash at making decisions and that I may lack enough guidance. I live in UTC +07:00 so I don't think that time zones would be an issue. Looking forward to your reply, thanks! Fehufanga (talk) 23:41, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

CVUA training request, completed WP:TWA
Hello Cassiopeia, I wish to join the Counter vandalism Academy to fight vandalism. I'd requested rollback rights about two weeks ago, but was unfortunately denied. I just completed WP:TWA training, and intend to learn more about combating vandalism, if you could consider enrolling me? Please let me know if you are willing to accept. --Ashleyyoursmile! 19:00, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Future changes
- You can propose and discuss what technical improvements should be done for geographic information. This could be coordinates, maps or other related things.
- Some wikis use LanguageConverter to switch between writing systems or variants of a language. This can only be done for the entire page. There will be a
<langconvert>
