Hey there! You might know me, I am a CVUA teacher. However, I'm looking to apply for NPP within the New Year and I know you are a good teacher! I have been looking in expanding my horizons here on Wikipedia and have tried doing several NPP stuff with no success. Heyo! I noticed you has two open slots at NPRSCHOOL, is this still the case? If so I would love to enroll! After spending a lot of time doing countering vandalism, I would like to expand my knowledge with procedures and guidelines when it comes to page creation and review. I have already spent some time the last few weeks to read up on the NPP resources, so hopefully I should come prepared. However I am aware and ready for a lot of assignments and further reading. Johand199 Good day NPPSCHOOL program is a comprehensive program which requires the participant to spend time to read provided material (WP pages) and do the assignments. The project consists of 3 parts with 10 assignments and 1 final exam. It covers notability, sources, tagging, wiki project, subsort, wiki content policies, CSD, PROPS, AfD, communication, review and much more topics. Participant usually takes 2-3 months to complete the program (it depends how much time you spend on the program). Many participant abandoned the program due to the find they need to spend more time on the assignments/reading material as they anticipate. Once you have complete the program, you would equip with the knowledge to review new pages. If you have some personal commitment and need to take more than 7-10 days to work on the assignment, then just simply let me know. Hi Cassiopeia, I thought I would turn to you with this since you seem experienced in the area of short descriptions. I'm not sure if you've noticed, perhaps it's only happening on my end, but it seems that a whole lot of short descriptions have disappeared across Wikipedia, virtually overnight. Revirvlkodlaku Some of the s/d are taken from Wikidata and it has been planned to disable them, that only the local descriptions are used since Wikidata info could be vandalised without the editor notice as it operate different from English Wikipedia. As of October 13, 2020 the fallback to Wikidata for article descriptions was disable and went live for such millions of s/d disappeared in En Wikipedia if their s/d are taken from Wikidata. Revirvlkodlaku I dont know if the application support s/d in mobile and if so, I am not sure which app (I meant StubSorter user script). I seldom use mobile to edit as I refer bigger screen and multiple monitors with several windows in one screen actually, for I like to view many pages/websites at the same for multi-tasking come naturally to me especially my work requires it. If you work from a laptop/desktop, and if you havent, you can install StubSorter user script. The s/d info would appear at the right top corner of every article where you would create/change the it directly without needed to click edit source and open the source page of the article. Btw, noticing you are a Canadian and a Czech which I had the opportunities to visit both countries. I got to say Prague is so beautiful with all the buildings full of Medieval architecture designs and of course walking across the snowy Charles Bridge in mid December, the scenery was just simply stunning. Changes later this week

  •   The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 20 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 21 October. It will be on all wikis from 22 October (calendar).

Future changes

  • You will be able to read but not to edit the wikis for up to an hour on 27 October around 14:00 (UTC). It will probably be shorter than an hour. [1]
  •   In the AbuseFilter extension, the rmspecials() function will be updated soon so that it does not remove the "space" character. Wikis are advised to wrap all the uses of rmspecials() with rmwhitespace() wherever necessary to keep filters' behavior unchanged. You can use the search function on Special:AbuseFilter to locate its usage. [2]
  • Some gadgets and user-scripts use the HTML div with the ID #jump-to-nav. This div will be removed soon. Maintainers should replace these uses with either #siteSub or #mw-content-text. A list of affected scripts is at the top of phab:T265373.

We would like to know who is behind the slander ( 2600:1011:B12B:5C91:55EE:1CDF:6018:1FCA ) it seems to be coming from AZ and NJ from a mobile device. I have an estimate about who it is and would like to deliver a spot and stand down order to the individual. They are obviously consistent in not signing in and their edits have been slanderous. We appreciate you looking out. Hector Acero Sanchez

Hi, last year I tried to make a wikipedia page for Hector Acero Sanchez. The original page was listed as "Hector Acero-Sanchez". I went to my draft that you put it in after it's deletion for not having references and deleted everything, but the draft is still there. I created a new page for it today with proper references under "Hector Acero Sánchez" as I am fairly positive this is the correct spelling. It's quite difficult to know as I have seen everything from "Hector Acero Sanchez" to "Hector-Acero Sanchez". The only reason I bring this seemingly minor detail is the linking of Wikipedia pages. I am unable to link the page I created to the French translation, which seems to be the only place that this page exists. I'm just trying to figure out how to do everything right to keep this page up and accessible from search engines such as google (I cannot find it just by looking it up).

Side note: I created a translation for Aurelio Herrera (if there aren't enough references let me know and I will find more) from Polish to English yesterday, and the only way I can find the page without going from linked pages or typing in the exact URL is by looking "Aurelio Herrera wikipeida", clicking on the Polish version and clicking on the English link under languages. However, in this case there are several spelling so a redirect can be done from other spelling to the page you created. I fixed the sentence "Khamzat Chimaev (Russian: Хамзат Чимаев; born May 1, 1994),[8] is a Russian-born Swedish[9] professional mixed martial artist of Chechen descent who competes in the welterweight and middleweight divisions of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)." He isn't Russian but Chechen, Chechnya being part of Russia doesn't make him a Russian since Chechens have their own autonomous republic representing its minority. Ad-Tlemlo Good day and thank you for your message. In Wikipedia, we dont put the ethnicity in the WP:LEAD section (Introduction) - see Wikipedia:Ethnicity but we normally would state the subject nationality. The ethnicity of a subject can be placed in the body text, which in this case it has already stated in the "Background" section. Chinese has many difference sub races, if I recall correctly, 5 biggest race and 52 sub races/ethnicity and this is same with Russia and India. Chechen and Dangestan both belong to Russia for such they are Russian (as a nationality and not Russian as the ethnicity) - see Russia ethic groups. Let me know if anything else I could help. Problems

  • You will be able to read but not to edit the wikis for up to an hour on October 27 around 14:00 (UTC). It will probably be shorter than an hour. [3]
  • Last week, links to "diffs" from mobile watchlists and recentchanges were linking to page-revisions instead of diffs. This has now been fixed. [4]

Changes later this week

  • There is no new MediaWiki version this week.

Future changes

  • Since the introduction of the interface administrators user group in 2018, administrators couldn’t view the deleted history of CSS/JS pages. Now they can. [5]
  • There was a problem with the Change Tags. The software would apply the "Reverted" tag to any page actions such as page-protection changes if they came directly after a reverted edit. This has now been fixed for new edits. [6]
  • The Reply tool will be offered as an opt-in Beta Feature on most Wikipedias in November. Another announcement will be made once the date is finalized. [7]

Firestar464, I have changed my user name from all caps to sentence case early in the year. So just call me Cassiopeia or Cass. Secondly, you dont need to {{reply|CASSIOPEIA}} when you write a message on the editor page who you want to talk to. Thirdly, do add another ":" (colon) from the previous message for 1 space right indentation as this is the protocol in tall page communication.(I have added them for you). Lastly, while you might have testing the game, I do need you to actually complete the program. The program must not be written to your tease or you as the target audience; however, it is very important to complete the program so you would know the Wikipedia basic guidelines which might be boring to but it is very important just as if you dont know the CUVA guidelines and know how to apply them, instead of helping, you might give warning/revert certain edits which are uncalled for. Likewise, I know the other admins have been bothering about the length of the List of current UFC fighters. What if we remove the "History" part since that's already covered in the main article for UFC and the rankings page since there is also a separate page for that. I just don't like the look of the page with no flags. The page is way under the limit for Post-expand include size, so I asked the two people what exactly they are seeking in regards to specific size. HeinzMaster Good day.   Done reviewed Miles Johns. Thanks for creating the page. I have further reduce the file size which should be good by now. If the action is taken then the tag can be removed. The 2 editors are not admins but editors just like you and I trying to improve Wikipedia. By the way, 2 admins have previously noted about the length and size of the file and have recorded it. Recent changes

  • You can no longer read Wikimedia wikis if your browser uses very old TLS. This is because it is a security problem for everyone. It could lead to downgrade attacks. Since October 29, 2020, users who use old TLS versions will not be able to connect to Wikimedia projects. A list of browser recommendations is available. All modern operating systems and browsers are always able to reach Wikimedia projects. [8]
  •   There is a new automatic tracking category available: Pages with non-numeric formatnum arguments. It collects pages which use the {{formatnum}} parser function with invalid (non-numeric) input, e.g. {{formatnum:TECHNEWS}}. Note that {{formatnum:123,456}} is also invalid input: as described in the documentation, the argument should be unformatted so that it can be reliably and correctly localised. The tracking category will help identify problematic usage and double-formatting. The new tracking category's name can be translated at translatewiki. [9]

Changes later this week

  •   The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from November 3. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from November 4. It will be on all wikis from November 5 (calendar).
  • Administrators and stewards will be able to use a special page (Special:CreateLocalAccount) to force local account creation for a global account. This is useful when account creation is blocked for that user (by a block or a filter). [10]
  • The Reply tool will be offered as an opt-in Beta Feature on most Wikipedias on November 4. This change excludes the English, Russian, and German-language Wikipedias, plus a few smaller Wikipedias with special circumstances. You can read the help page and the troubleshooting guide for more information. [11]

Future changes

  • A discussion has been restarted about using a Unicode minus sign (− U+2212) in the output of {{formatnum}} when it is given a negative argument. [12]
  • In the future IP addresses of unregistered users will not be shown for everyone. They will get an alias instead. There will be a new user right or an opt-in function for more vandal fighters to see the IPs of unregistered users. There would be some criteria for who gets the user right or opt-in. There will also be other new tools to help handle vandalism. This is early in the process and the developers are still collecting information from the communities before they suggest solutions.

I was a content contributor in the early 2000's but, ha, things have developed quite a bit, and I think you are the editor for listing fighters, or you can help me with the template.

Reevasso Good day. Thanks for the message above. Helen Peralta passes MMABIO notability guidelines. You can use Felicia Spencer as the template for all but UFC fights and use Jason Knight (fighter) for Bare Knucle. In the fight table follow the manual of style to a tee, any info can not be obtain from Sherdog.com for the infobox need to be sourced and as usual all content need to be sourced too. Let me know if you need any help and you can let me when you have created the article either in AfD or NPP for I would review it for you. stay safe and best.
