Cleanup templates

edit

Just to let you know that most cleanup templates, like "unreferenced", "fact", "cleanup" etc., are best not "subst"ed. See WP:SUBST for more details. Regards, Rich Farmbrough, 22:24 4 April 2007 (GMT).

Udora

edit

Hey Wooty, it's User:Wikipedier, but I recently had my named changed, the old one being a Wikipedia term. I know this is old news, but I just wanted say that I should have pointing out one last thing, that I should have reminded Udora that using sockpuppets to circumvent a block is very bad thing and taken very seriously.(Though I said I was responsible and wanted to help in any way I could, I should have mentioned the sock puttetry issue, and though that it is a good idea to create a new account, I should have recommened that Udora still waited until the 1 week long block for the IP was over, before editing under or even creating a new account.) I hope that Udora will have the benifit and slack cut out for still getting to know Wikipedia, and with your expertise on the policies, I have faith everything will go fine.)--U.S.A.U.S.A.U.S.A. (talk contribs) 18:54, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Don't worry about it, I see it as common sense, but he/she's obviously a good faith contributor and a few mistakes shouldn't be a problem. I fixed the double redirect on your old userpage, hope you don't mind me editing it, but it redirects smoothly now. Regards, -Wooty Woot? contribs 20:04, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Of course I wouldn't mind. Thank you! I didn't even read double redirects, but I guessed that's what it looked like. Thanks again!--U.S.A.U.S.A.U.S.A. (talk contribs) 20:14, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Boldness in HD DVD encryption key controversy

edit

While the be bold policy is an excellent policy, there are times when it should not be followed blindly. The current HD DVD situation is one of those cases where talk pages need to be used, especially when you're deleting a paragraph that has withstood numerous revisions. Please feel free to discuss any issues (especially since the section you edited had a specific note saying to consult the talk page) on the talk page. Thanks. --Rodzilla (talk) 20:50, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was pursuing a strategy of WP:BRD. As for the section itself, we should attempt to avoid self-references as much as possible - especially, when the only source is a Wired blog. I cannot help but see this as a "It's WP, so skip over WP:N" section, and that's why I removed it. I'll bring it up on Talk later. -Wooty Woot? contribs 20:59, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

User talk:CC2009

edit

Hi Wooty, I noticed this message, and I didn't see anything to be a major problem, but reveiwing the user's contributions, it seemed like biting to me, so I added another notice I found more suiting, but did not remove the other one by User:Radio orange.(Other situations, such as edits by Billynoors would be much more offensive and call for a higher warning than in this case.). Do you think that other comment should be removed or left alone?(It doesn't seem to assume good faith)--U.S.A. cubed 00:46, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

In the case that that user's contributions was actualy vile racism, I'm wrong on this.--U.S.A. cubed 00:57, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Extremely good call on the test-1, I've removed RO's nonstandard warning: we have a whole page of user warnings for a reason, and I don't see "OMFGZORS MARTIN LUTHER KING WAS WHITE" as blatantly racist at all, so test should do. -Wooty Woot? contribs 03:29, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I told Radio orange that we found a different notice to be more appropriete for this situation, as he should be informed that biting isn't acceptable. I told him if he still thought it was vile racism, he could find a forth opionion, and if he does, I think we can use the meditation committee.--U.S.A. cubed 16:59, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Err, I think you mean Mediation..though I bet they have a meditation committee on the Indian Wikipedia! :p -Wooty Woot? contribs 18:29, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The more I look at the page and the supplied picture, the more convinced I am that this is a hoax. I find it hard to believe that the kid in the picture had even been born in 1985, let alone receiving university scholarships. DarkAudit 03:07, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Generally we don't use # to mark votes in deletion debates, because consensus and Wikipedia policy are more important than the number of votes. Just use an asterisk, like everyone else. Happy editing! --Dhartung | Talk 04:43, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
