Dear God,
Make my words as sweet as honey,
For tomorrow I may have to eat them.

de:Karneval, Fastnacht oder Fasching edit

There are several links from this article that might be worth pursuing as well. de:Karnevals-, Fastnachts- und Faschingshochburgen, de:Rosenmontag, de:Schmutziger Donnerstag, the various cities' carnival pages and so forth. Once the carnival article gets the expansion it deserves, forking off a new article might be worth considering too. Maybe even a new article on celebrations in the entire German speaking world (It's huge in some of the Catholic places in Switzerland too, e.g.). I'll be happy to help contributing. ---Sluzzelin 10:06, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yay! I really really appreciate the help. I'm putting up my translation of the article a bit at a time on my sandbox, please check my work to make sure I'm not screwing stuff up. Also, how do you use a picture from German Wikipedia? V-Man737 02:39, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
While I'm at it, how do you get the de links to show up? I make them and they disappear!! V-Man737 02:45, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, not sure what went wrong. I just type "de:Rosenmontag" in double square brackets, that's all. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure you saw Talk:Carnival#.22Germany.22-section_blank_.2F_deleted. I didn't go through the history, but maybe there's already some valuable info there too (no idea why it was removed either). Well, the movers and their truck will be arriving in an hour and, apart from at work, I have no clue when I'll be set up for Wikipedia again, but I will look at your work sometime during the next days. Meanwhile, Happy Carnival! (I'll be missing today's Shrove Tuesday Monschterguggekonzert at the de:Luzerner Fasnacht, but I hope to take my loved one to the de:Basler Fasnacht this year, which doesn't start until next Monday, because the people of Basel like it that way.) ---Sluzzelin
Oh, and I'm definitely the wrong person to ask, since I've never uploaded an image to mainspace before, but I think that most pictures should be available and directly uploadable from Commons. ---Sluzzelin
Happy moving! I'll see what I can see at the commons, and try to read up on meta-linking. V-Man737 00:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
It looks like the German part of Carnival was accidentally omitted during a vandalism revert, but was readded yesterday sometime. It seems to be intensely similar to Fastnacht, which has a merger proposal at the moment... Perhaps we could give them a new article to merge it into! ^_^ V-Man737 00:49, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hypnosis edit

From what I can recall from my last psych class, hypnosis has been known to leave marks like rashes or welts on people when, during the session, they were told that they'd been whipped or slapped. The way that could work is by a simple suggestion to the brain to react to that stimulus. The brain would then tell the area to inflame, causing the capillaries to dilate and let more blood flow to them, making the area flush. As for anything more profound than that, I've not heard of it. V-Man737 01:48, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yep, that's my understanding of it as well. --Nealparr (yell at me|for what i've done) 02:10, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

hi V man edit

ive posted this on the clairvoyance talk page after someone completely removed the clar#irsentience article which had gone through a process of months of work , rewrites , endless discussion , removasl of personal matereal , edits for style and content .... endless work on correct sourcing and wikpedia referencing and formatting..... the article which had been arrived at with co operation and discussion over many weeks and from you v man who has put in some hours into grammer , punctuation ... re editting for stlye and content ... and much help in correct sourcing and referencing .....

this article was the sum of many peoples input , effort and hard work so i dont know how or who removed it so thoughtlessly and put the meaningless redirect to the clairvoyance page... any help would be great.... cheers..Thesource42 17:10, 5 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

hi guys edit

to whoever removed the article...

i see youve redirected the clairsentience article.... let me ask....what was the point of the weeks of discussions and rewrites if you guys were going to redirect it anyway....you should have told me t get lost out of here...... what was the point of it all? why did i listen to you ? at all? why did i remove all personal references? why did i reference and source all of my matereal diligently and in great detail ? why did i edit and re edit for style and content ? why did i make additional references to religios , anthropological ,socialogical , philosophical ,medical , physics , chemistry , botany , mental health etc so that all views were included and respected? why did i fulfill all of the above hurdles and hoops to fulfill wikpedia formatting and guidlines for you too to delete months of hard work and effort. your actions are without integrity or honour .....

clairsentience article redirect ? edit

Hi ..... whoever removed the clairsentience article and made it redirect ... can you please try and respect that the article that was there had evolved over a couple of months of discussion and many rewrites and multiple edits which involved much discussion over a long period...... .........i could delete this clairvoyance article.... but i wont because revert and delete wars then stupidly take place which is a real shame when a library becomes a bar room brawl......

..... i hope you can respect the clairsentience article...

..... ive been clairsentient for most of my adult life and it wasnt easy to come this far and to struggle for decades to articulate my experience in a way which makes rational sense to the world at large of which the clairsentience article is a manifest example..... so please try and respect the vast amount of struggle and work which has gone into it....Thesource42 17:10, 5 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, looks a'ight to me... Did I miss something in the interim? V-Man737 00:10, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome edit

V-Man said: Thank you for reverting vandalism on my page!

You're welcome. I often wonder why vandals target some user pages and not others, and it's still something of a mystery to me. I can't see what you'd have ever done to upset him. Regards. Bobo. 03:59, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Heh. I'd imagine it would have a bit to do with my less-than-polite warning on his talk page regarding some vandalism that offended me a bit more than usual. V-Man - T/C 04:16, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Use of "OP" on talk page edit

Thanks for all your excellent comments on the Ref Desk. We do, however, try to avoid use of abbrevs there which the OP may not know, such as, ironically, "OP". In the past some have taken it to be an insult, perhaps thinking it means "Opie", the naive kid on the Andy Griffith Show. StuRat 19:42, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Heh. All this time I thought it meant Optimus Prime... V-Man - T/C 23:05, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

ATT poll edit

Please refactor your reply to Jerseyko into your own !vote (i.e. "I agree with Jerseyko below that..." The poll specifically instructs not to add reply comments to others' !votes, or pretty soon we'll have a page 100x larger with everyone criticizing or agreeing with everyone else's comments, and your standout comment of this sort is likely to inspire more of them. :-) — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 06:46, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

That should look a bit better. ^_^ V-Man - T/C 21:00, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Umm... Ouch? If you don't really want to contribute in helping Wikipedia grow, why waste your time trying to stir up trouble? There are a million things you could otherwise be doing that would improve your outlook on life. V-Man - T/C 02:07, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Response to Keanu Reeves Woah edit

Hi, the problem with the image was this statement "This image has no traceable creator, as it has been passed between private E-mail users; therefore it is justified as being in the public domain." Even if an image is passed around there is still somone who created it and he or she is the copyright owner. The person who placed the image on WP:PUI should have notified you though. As the deleting admin I usually check that before deleting, but since there are so many images to be deleted, not always and I obviously missed this one. Hope that helps, Garion96 (talk) 10:05, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I see now. I didn't realize that you weren't the one who should have contacted me, so please forgive my impetuosity. I'll try to do better about tracing ownership in the future. V-Man - T/C 22:52, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do Not Be An Asshole edit

and don't reply since my ip is dynamic (that means it changes) — Preceding unsigned comment added by User:162.84.128.99 (talkcontribs)

I assume you are referring to my undoing of your edit? Lucky I was able to figure out what you meant. Sorry I was so terse in my edit summary, but I assure you I did not mean to impersonate an anus. The main problem with what I reverted was that the wording seemed really unsure. Encyclopedias should really only say what they are sure of, and try to avoid phrases such as "may or may not be." Hope you have a good weekend! ^_^ V-Man - T/C 00:45, 9 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
You should really watch those edit summaries, V-Man. Before long, your parodical interpretation of an anus, unintended or not, will violate our Biographies of Digestive Body Parts policy. You won't want to get the Wikimedia Foundation sued. ;) -Wooty [Woot?] [Spam! Spam! Wonderful spam!] 11:45, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
