Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

February 2022 edit

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Vijayanagara Empire, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 07:38, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Joshua Jonathan Would you be able to verify the user's edits at Kanaka Dasa to see if they are POV as this one? Thanks! — DaxServer (t · c) 08:59, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Vijayanagara Empire. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. — DaxServer (t · c) 08:58, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@DaxServer: maybe pov; not the best quality anyway. But given the overall quality it won't make much difference... Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 11:10, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Kanakadaasa.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Kanakadaasa.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vladlen Manilov / 10:03, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

DS-alert edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Request reason:

Dear Administrators, I have quoted authoritative references before making the edits that I have done till today. Still, I do not know why my IP address is blocked. In an article, I have tried to remove misappropriate contents that includes maligning other religions by misrepresenting Dayanand on a wikipage Dayananda Saraswati under the section "Views on tther religions". Unfortunately, the section cites references but gives false information contrary to the cited references. So, I have tried to edit it multiple times but in vain. And with respect to other pages, I had quoted valid references in order to prevent certain wikipedia pages from citing stories from movies. But, I my account has been blocked. I am not a regular wikipedia editor; whenever I find false information, I try to correct them by adding correct information. Please verify my edits. If you feel that I have done correct, please relieve the block on my IP address. Thank you. CSCM01 (talk) 20:06, 21 January 2023 (UTC)CSCM01Reply

Decline reason:

In order to look into this, we need to know what your IP address is. If you do not want to post it publicly, you may use WP:UTRS to provide it privately. 331dot (talk) 20:11, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I found that my wikipedia account is now unblocked. Thank you 331dot. ````CSCM01

Request reason:

Please unblock my IP address 2409:4071:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 , I couled edit few pages so that I thought I was unblocked. But, the message still hangs, In the recent edits I didn't mean to remove templates. I only that I should add new templates on talk page

Decline reason:

While the rangeblock expires in a week or so, you might want to see about going to WP:IPECPROXY and requesting IP block exemption so it won't be a problem. — Daniel Case (talk) 07:40, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

January 2023 edit

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Talk:Kuruba, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. --Finngall talk 23:32, 25 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at Talk:Kuruba, you may be blocked from editing. --Finngall talk 01:46, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Finngall, I did not mean to remove the page and I didn't know templates were on the talk page. I had made few edits to the articles. And I saw many unwanted discussions in the talk page. I thought I should remove them and ask for protection of the page. Only now I notice that there were templates that had already called protection. Please unblock my IP address: 2409:4071:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 CSCM01 (talk) 06:28, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Should I have to bring in unblock request template or will you be able to do it as I have shared my IP address? CSCM01 (talk) 06:31, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
"Unwanted" by who? Talk page discussions can and should be archived when appropriate, but not deleted outright under most circumstances. As for your IP issues, I am not an administrator and have no control over anything to do with anything or anyone being blocked. --Finngall talk 22:51, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I thought I was blocked. "Unwanted" by an unknown user with some IP address. Bringing in something unrelated to the article probably due to a confusion on status of the people who are geographically isolated. Out of curiostiy: If you are not an administrator, how come you were alerted when I deleted the template (although I didn't know there was a template)? Edits to Kuruba edit

Please try editing in smaller blocks; you've added too much material all at once, and some of it clearly isn't backed by the sources you've supplied. If you add material in smaller incrememnts, it's easier to evaluate the content additions against the sources so we don't need to revert to whole lot. OhNoitsJamie Talk 00:26, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, All the references and the links to the direct view of the page was added. I will try adding materials in smaller blocks. CSCM01 (talk) 06:30, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
