re:pictures

You need to tag all images you upload with the appropriate license. The policy is detailed here: Wikipedia:Image_use_policy#Copyright_.28images.29. Images taken in China during that period can be tagged with Template:PD-China (by inserting {{PD-China}}). --Jiang 00:10, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

1. PD in PRC (and ROC) for photos is 50 years since it was taken. So most 2SJW pics belong to PD. Therefore if possible you could upload them to the commons.
2. Mind telling me the ISBN number of your book? Mind uploading all/some of the pics?
3. Google image is always a good place to start. After that, try military history forums and gun forums.

BTW, the zh.wiki version uses 3 paragraphs to talk about CCP's role in the war, so I honestly don't see how you think it inflates its role. Hi there. Welcome to Wikipedia. You may need to change your name. Wikipedia has a policy of not allowing people use names of organisations, people (other than yourself), things that might be offensive, etc. No doubt by accident you have inadvertently chosen a name that falls foul of the rule. The Blueshirts were a European fascist organisation in the 1930s, whose leader, General Eoin O'Duffy proclaimed himself the third most important man in Europe after Hitler and Mussolini. Though they didn't amount to much, it is inadvisable, albeit by accident, to be using the name of a fascist party as your nic. If you ask around you'll get advice about how to change it. Don't worry. A lot of people innocently stumble into using names that had a meaning that they had no idea of. (I've been there. My three initials in my usernic, jtd are my the first initials of my three personal names. Some people, however, think I am someone else who also has those initials!) The problem is that people who know what the Blueshirts were may think you are politically on the far right, and that may colour how they see you. Others on the left may be offended by the name. Sometimes admins change usernames if the person with the problem name doesn't themselves. So to avoid causing offence, or having people jump to conclusions about your politics, it would be wise to change your name, or else change it to the same name in a different language so that people don't recognise it.

I know that. The trouble is that it is a rather strict rule. People who use what can be seen as offensive names usually either have them changed whether they like it or not, or sometimes have their 'offensive' name banned. Using the name of a fascist party as your usernic, even innocently, is not an option. Names of political parties are not allowed as usernics. Names with political associations are also not allowed. Your usernic unambiguously breaks WP's very strict rules on name usage. You will need to find a usernic, or maybe just translate it into something else, or a symbol, but Blueshirts, like Brownshirts, like Blackshirts, etc are not allowed as usernics. Hey there, saw your Defence of the Great Wall and First Battle of Shanghai articles. Very impressive work. Comprehensive, too, much better than most of my sub-sub-stub battle articles!

Territory changes

Hi, I noticed that you made several edits to the territorial changes part of the warbox in Second Sino-Japanese War.

Manchuria was invaded by the Soviets (August Storm), who then lingered after Japan's surrender to loot the industry there, and then when they left they turned over control to the Chinese (and Korean) communist guerillas in their army. The Nationalists rushed troops to major cities like Shenyang, but most of the industry and land were in communist hands.

Outer Mongolia, when we're talking about "loss", was lost in 1911 when they declared independence. if you consider that government just a "warlord", then in 1921 the Soviets came and made it their puppet state, so it can't be considered a "warlord" anymore. To this day the ROC has not renounced claims over Outer Mongolia (including Tuva). I am called Ye Di Wen, whom you contacted here. I believe you may have been referring to my small additions to the discussion pages of the War of Resistance, the Xi'an Incident and Tibet, and if not, I apologise for the confusion.

I have not, in fact, make any actual revisions, and have so far limited myself to the discussion page, though I confess I have been gathering material for an expansion of the Chinese wikipedia, as having such world languages as Polish or Swedish outmassing Chinese is unacceptable, bordering on the insulting, more so since many Chinese historical personage actually has Japanese or English articles whereas the same is absent in Chinese, or much reduced in content.

RE:Sino-German cooperation

Looks good, much better than what I would have been able to come up with! A few points of interest though:

1. I would prefer it to have been in Pinyin instead of WG. The China-related Manual of Style suggests Pinyin for terms not predominantly known by their WG transliteration.
2. A few minor spelling errors here and there, nothing a spellchecker can't fix.
3. Elaborate more on von Seeckt's 60-division plan.
4. I assumed you meant something like the Lehr divisions when you were referring to "training brigade" in lieu of the German eliteheer?
5. Would like more on the military hardware cooperation.
6. Legacy section seems a bit redundant, has several passages that doesn't specifically deal with the legacy of the cooperation.

As for FAC, I suggest we take a look at Wikipedia:What is a featured article and then submit the article for Wikipedia:Peer review.

Well, you wrote it so you get to decide, I guess. MOS says, "In general, Chinese entries should be in Hanyu Pinyin except when there is a more popularly used form in English (such as Taoism) or when the subject of the entry is likely to object to romanization in pinyin. When an entry is not in pinyin form, there should be a redirect to the article from the pinyin form." Taiwanese writing

Hi - I would be interested to hear your opinions on Taiwanese writing - which do you think is hilarious: POJ romanization, adapted Hanzi or both? Taiwantaffy 02:35, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am not a very advanced Taiwanese speaker, but I have to say that although the POJ system is ungainly and overcomplicated, the idea of writing in it does not seem ridiculous to me. The problem is that there is no established standard and the majority of native Taiwanese speakers are effectively illiterate in their own language. Sure, it is possible to write Taiwanese in Chinese characters, but there is no agreed standard for many words that differ from Mandarin and half the time you have to make them up. Whereas in POJ, there is a standard that exactly fits the language and plus is easy to learn (for natives and foreigners alike). Seems quite logical to me! ROC textbook on ROC size

Hey dude, the Chinese wiki says that the official claimed size of the ROC according to the ROC Constitution is 11,420,000 km2. Could you confirm this? I can't get ROC textbooks, but I'm sure you can. :D Also, if at all possible, do you have a more specific number, like 11,420,953 (for example)? Project news An independent military history peer review has been created for the benefit of the project. A number of articles have already been reviewed, receiving significantly more feedback within the project than they did on the generic peer review page. The project's Collaboration of the Fortnight got off to a great start with Ferdinand Foch and is now focusing on the military history of Spain. Two new task forces—dealing with warfare during classical antiquity and the Middle Ages—have been created. An effort to build a catalogue of high-quality maps for use in military history articles is now underway. The newly-formed translation department is looking for volunteers to help with translating featured articles from other-language Wikipedias.	From the Coordinators Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Military history WikiProject's newsletter! We hope that this new format will help members—especially those who may be unable to keep up with some of the rapid developments that tend to occur—find new groups and programs within the project that they may wish to participate in. Please consider this inital issue to be a prototype; as always, any comments and suggestions are quite welcome, and will help us improve the newsletter in the coming months. 杨养正... Yeah he's the last survivor (in mainland China at least). But none of the sites I've read about him mention that he was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution. And given the current political circumstances being persecuted during the CultRev is a thing to be proud of. (cf. Yeah I know. I lived really close to the warehouse and didn't know shit about it. When I first heard about the battle I was thinking, Sihang Warehouse isn't it that furniture warehouse along North Tibet Road... See map, Sihang Warehouse is at the bottom right-centre, and I lived around where "Jiaotong Rd" is in the mid-left. Good job CPC. Dont remove the part about Operation August Storm

Operation August Storm palyed a much bigger part for china then the droping of the atmoic bombs, and the Japanese left on chinese soil were either dead or caputred. You fail to understand that in less then 11 days the Soviets hade destroyed the whole Japanese army In china and Korea. (Deng 18:49, 3 May 2006 (UTC))

Yes the first bomb was droped on the 6th of August and the soviets invaded on the 8th but the bombs didnt affect in any way what so ever the troops and the equipment in China and Korea. When the Soviets invaded, the Japanese didnt really know what had happened with the Hiroshima. It took the some days to understand that it had been destroyed with just one bomb. And the Japan home islands didnt surrender untill the 15th of August and by this time the Japanese army in china had allready been destroyed (Deng 20:11, 3 May 2006 (UTC))

Yes on everything except that it was destroyed and the Japanese were going to fight to the very end but the bombs and the invasion made them change their minds, 1.1 million troops were either dead wounded, missing or captured you can read more here in this american military study of the battle http://www-cgsc.army.mil/carl/resources/csi/glantz3/glantz3.asp I must stress that loseing the whole Of china in 7 days and China + Korea + some small Islands in 11 days and loseing 1.1 million men can have an affect on a leader. Chinese military history task force

Hello. I am approaching you with this message because you have contributed to some aspect of Chinese military history on Wikipedia and/or have put your name on WikiProject Military history's member list and indicated your expertise in some field of Chinese military history.

Here's the deal. We need a place to coordinate work on Chinese military history. Therefore, I am proposing to start a task force for this purpose. But before we can go ahead with it, I need to make sure that there is enough contributors to sustain this effort. The China-related topics notice board died of neglect and if we create this task force we need to be committed to it or it will suffer the same fate. I'm asking for your opinions on this matter, whether it's a good idea or not, if you'd be interested in it, and what suggestions you might have.
