WAC Bennett Group: Intro is up in Norma's Sandbox

edit

Hey Ben

I put the intro in my sandbox. Please edit away until Monday, March 12th at 5pm - it will go live by Monday night around 9 and I want to have a few hours for finishing touches and to do the citation, bold, links, all that stuff. Sound ok?

Did everyone read the suggestion from the wiki member at the bottom of our articles talk page? What do we think about adding a section that deals with what he suggests? Also, is there any way to do a group message or do I have to write individually in each talk page? --Tborto1 (talk) 00:50, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed Edits

edit

Thank you for your input Ben!

This edit you proposed "that if the Columbia WAS developed" not WERE?

I used 'were' to indicate a conditional tense, because the Columbia hadn't yet been developed. what do you think of changing the sentence to "that if the Columbia was (or were?) to be developed"? Does were not indicate the conditional tense in English the way I think it does? That's why I used were, but I'm not sure it's correct. What do you think?

PROPOSED EDITS: maybe just clarify whom you are mean when you state " a minority of people..." by talking in more defined terms when you mention "isolation, dependence, alianation, and illness". Also you will want to change "the development of the peace river lead [sic] to environmental changes" to led.

I may not clarify what is meant by 'minority' here, since it will be done later in the article, as will the terms "isolation, dependence, alianation, and illness" be more thoroughly defined. What does [sic] mean?

PROPOSED EDITS: in the above section you may want to cut out one of the times you use the term "resource development", it seems slightly repetitive. Maybe also change "In Bennett's opinion" to "In his opinion".

I agree.

Lastly the phrase "or in other words: modern" is slightly loaded, since definitions/connotations of modern are not homogenous. You may want to clarify what you mean to differentiate it from our everyday and slightly vague definition of modern. Perhaps I'm being too picky though.

Here is use the phrase modern to summarize the quotes from Loo on what Bennett was aiming for and lead into the next section on high modernity. I would leave it if it were up to me, but they may be because I'm just not sure how to change it. I don't think this article is the place to get into the definitions of modern.

And I corrected the thirty year part before the sections went live on Sunday night, so that one at least is already done!

Again, thank you for your input! --Heatheralyse (talk) 06:17, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

FYI

edit

Hey Ben - I believe we both are next to "drop" some info on this article and I just wanted to say that I will be doing it tonight - as we should avoid adding too much info at a time, I just wanted to let you know not to also do it today if possible? Let me know if that's an issue for you Normaromann (talk) 18:45, 22 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Edit/End of Project/Presentation

edit

My section is in my sandbox now- I already published it but just so that there wouldn't be a huge drop at the end! Feel free to edit away, I will do the same! Maybe we should do final edits by the end of next week? We should probably also chat about our presentation - maybe Thursday after class?

Your sections

edit

Hi Ben, I hope you had a great weekend! I hear whistler has been absolutely wonderful. It would be great to get your section up online as quickly as possible, since we've received some feedback and there have been calls for the section on construction to go live. Do you think that you'll be able to put it in your sandbox by Thursday night or Friday? --Heatheralyse (talk) 00:01, 28 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey Ben, I saved the paragraph from the old article relating to lawsuits and Aboriginals. I was torn if we should use it or not. I do believe its relevant and sources check out. At the time I just wanted to get my portion up and have it look clean and presentable. I'm happy to put it back in. Tborto1 (talk) 18:35, 4 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Changes/Add's to WAC Bennett Dam page

edit

Hey Ben. Re-added the short information on a 2008 settlement from the previous wiki page. I'm not 100% sold on it. It doesn't deal directly with the Tsay Keh Dene First Nations which I wrote about. I'm not sure i'll leave it in for tomorrows final page evaluation. Let me know what you think. Tborto1 (talk) 16:31, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
