Warning - Content removal edit

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did at Islamic Relief, you may be blocked from editing. Thank you..--Bali Makmur (talk) 21:35, 15 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

As someone who just dropped into this talk page and was a little surprised to see the above claim, it doesn't take a lot to see that the accusation of disruptive editing by AusLondonder is nonsense. --Super Nintendo Chalmers (talk) 22:25, 15 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Super Nintendo Chalmers: Indeed this editor seems to have a bit of a record of poor behaviour. They have edit-warred, used misleading edit summaries, removed sourced content and failed to follow WP:NPOV repeatedly. This template (from an editor with 108 edits) is about my removal of a "terrorist" category from an article about a British Islamic charity. AusLondonder (talk) 22:37, 15 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Anyway, as you've seen I decided to take the category to CFD because of the major potential for misuse AusLondonder (talk) 22:40, 15 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wiki Loves Pride 2016 edit

As a participant of WikiProject LGBT studies, you are invited to participate in the third annual Wiki Loves Pride campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT culture and history. How can you help?

  1. Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work here
  2. Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
  3. Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Looking for topics? The Tasks page, which you are welcome to update, offers some ideas and wanted articles.

This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome! If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:46, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Murder of Jo Cox edit

Hey :)

I'd just like to point out a few things regarding the draft you just created:

  • Under British English (which should apply given it's a British event), an assassination has to have a political motive. Since a motive is not yet known, this cannot be an assassination. (I note that you have since renamed the article from me starting to write this, but the infobox still says asssassination).
  • It's not a murder until it's proven as such in a court of law - there's some discussion on Talk:Jo Cox about this. In the UK, Sub Judice applies now since an arrest has been made, which has potential implications for those reporting on the event in the UK, which we both are.
  • You've named the alleged perpetrator of an unproven crime - I'd like to point you int the direction of WP:BLPCRIME

I'm not disagreeing with splitting it into a new article, just please be careful with this!

Nomination of Murder of Jo Cox for deletion edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Murder of Jo Cox is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Murder of Jo Cox until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 06:58, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Drmies: you and BRD don't get on very well. AusLondonder (talk) 12:33, 18 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Depends. A revert whose edit summary contains only insults, that's not likely to make anyone discuss anything. BRD is an essay, as you know; AGF is a fundamental principle in this joint. Drmies (talk) 20:39, 18 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
You waited until less eyes were on the article to remove a massive section which you know had community support. You arbitrarily chose some nations as "involved" - not French neighbours such as the Netherlands or the United Kingdom. You left the United States in unsurprisingly. The revert summary was describing your behaviour not you as a person or you as an editor. I have disputed your arbitrary and pointy removal now should be the time to discuss. Little late in writing this but wanted to say that I hope there aren't any hard feelings about Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Reactions_to_the_2016_Orlando_nightclub_shooting. Hope you know that it has nothing to do with animus toward the LGBTQ community or anything. I just feel that many of the news-related articles are TOOSOON but it's becoming clear I'm in the minority with that opinion (e.g., Talk:2016_shooting_of_Baton_Rouge_police_officers#Way_too_soon). Asian 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:16, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes because that is where it started. Events as well as companies can move, but all started somewhere. There are cases where they move and even come back to its roots before ending. The article Lavender Hill High School has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable school without any sources

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Belated April Fool's, maybe? edit

So... Wtmitchell blocks AusLondoner for twelve hours with the rationale to stop series of edits flouting WP:ENGVAR... Fifteen hours after their last edit?! Presumably the edits of concern are those most recent, labelled "per WP:TIES"- but none of those, that I can see, have been reverted, which begs the question as to how disruptive they were. In any case; where's the discussion, the escalated series of warnings, even? — O Fortuna! Imperatrix mundi. 09:01, 4 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

AusLondonder (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I'm not sure whether this is a mistake or not. I'm a regular editor in good-standing. Absolutely no complaint was made on any forum by any editor about my conduct. I received no warning or discussion about the block, as is generally the accepted precedent per WP:BEFOREBLOCK and I received zero notification or explanation of the block from the admin, in breach of WP:EXPLAINBLOCK. That policy states "The community expects that blocks will be made with good reasons only, based upon reviewable evidence and reasonable judgment" and "Administrators must supply a clear and specific block reason that indicates why a user was blocked...Administrators should notify users when blocking them by leaving a message on their user talk page". The admin, in their blocking summary, apart from threatening me with an indefinite block, stated the reason was "to stop series of edits flouting WP:ENGVAR". However, none of my edits have been reverted, even by the blocking admin and I simply changed spelling to, for example, New Zealand English on Suburbs of Nelson per WP:TIES which states "an article on a topic that has strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation should use the (formal, not colloquial) English of that nation". The admin has not engaged with me nor other editors since the block. Very happy to discuss any concerns with the reviewing admin.

Accept reason:

Bizarre block. No discussion, no warning, not even a block notification, even though AusLondoner's last edit was 16 hours before the block was applied. This was a very bad block. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 12:25, 4 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

I want to acknowledge my judgemental error here and to apologize for the block which I precipitously and improperly placed following on that judgemental error. I do want to to apologize here, though, both for my bad judgement in this instance and for the block which I improperly placed as a result of that bad judgement. Wrong guideline in editsummary? edit

Hi AusLondonder

I was just checking your contribs from yesterday[1] to see if I could find any trace of what might have prompted the block.

No sign of that, which makes the block look even more bizarre, but I did spot one small unimportant thing. Several of your edits which rightly corrected the spelling of International Labour Organization used an edit summary which included a link to WP:BRINT, which is a redirect to WP:Redirect#Bypass_redirects_in_navigational_templates. That clearly isn't what you meant, so I presume it was just a mistaken recollection of another shortcut.

Obviously, that small glitch in no way justifies any reproach, let alone an out-of-the-blue block ... but I just thought I'd point it out for future reference, in case someone gets antsy about it.

Hope this helps! If not, pls ignore.

Best wishes, --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 22:06, 4 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi BrownHairedGirl. Thanks for that and for your help the past few days. It has been most appreciated. Sorry for my delay in replying I've been super-busy off-wiki. You're right I wasn't using the most correct shortcut. I was meaning the part just below where WP:BRINT appears which says "Spelling errors and other mistakes should be corrected. Don't link to a misspelled redirect". When correcting spelling in similar circumstances in future do you have any advice on what I should say in the edit summary?
Thanks again for your help :) AusLondonder (talk) 15:37, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Edit the guideline and stick a specific anchor in it? Andy Dingley (talk) 15:46, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Andy Dingley: I don't think any guideline needed to be cited. It was just a matter of fixing the spelling of a proper name. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:57, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
(ec)Hi AusLondonder
I was glad to be able to help. I saw your username pop up somewhere else, but with a strikeout line through it (I have a CSS setting which does that to blocked usernames), and went to investigate ... and just thought I'd not like that to be me!
I dunno if you have seen my reply to Wtmitchell's response at ANI: WP:ANI#Response_by_Wtmitchell. What I suggested there (in point #1) was that since you were correcting the spelling of a proper name, a better edit summary might have been as something like "correct spelling of proper name International Labour Organization".
But I'm sure there are other ways of doing it. Just check shortcuts afore using them! (I know, we all screw up on that one sometimes, and it's no biggie, unless you encounter an admin on a hair-trigger over a flakey internet connection).
Best wishes, --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:49, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thankfully we have some competent admins around here! I thought what could I possibly have done to irritate this guy! I've seen your reply it certainly put in words exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for the tip about the edit summary it seems like a good idea to avoid any potential confusion. Who would have thought the spelling of the International Labour Organization would be cause for such excitement! AusLondonder (talk) 16:45, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Glad that helped. And the ANI thread has been closed without any further action, which I think is a good outcome. Wtmitchell has (belatedly) apologised to you, and can be in no doubt that they screwed up badly and had better not screw up like that again. Hope you feel reassured that it hasn't left any stain on your record. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 16:18, 6 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'm glad it is now all resolved. Hopefully they won't repeat their mistake in future. I want to thank you again for your assistance and wisdom through all of this. AusLondonder (talk) 17:38, 6 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Enrique Guerrero Salom edit

The article Enrique Guerrero Salom has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. 2017 Stockholm attack edit

In a recent edit to the page 2017 Stockholm attack, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to India, use Indian English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. AusLondonder (talk) 19:48, 7 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

I think you made a big mistake on this. The article is written in British English. So the people have to use the British words. Look at the discussion page.--Rævhuld (talk) 19:53, 7 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. This guideline is a part of the English Wikipedia's Manual of Style. It is a generally accepted standard that editors should attempt to follow, though it is best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply. Any substantive edit to this page should reflect consensus. When in doubt, discuss first on the talk page. What part of treated with common sense do you not understand? The Banner talk 22:25, 8 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
The Banner Please advise what "occasional exception" applies here. Don't bother with the crap about what you learnt at school again because that has no bearing on WP:TIES. Please try and stop POV-pushing for once. AusLondonder (talk) 22:45, 8 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Abby Tomlinson edit

The article Abby Tomlinson has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Just FYI, another editor (not me) removed the word "false". I put it back in per longstanding consensus, but then it occurred to me that it's not proper to revert merely because of no consensus. So it's best if someone else (like you) puts that word back, given that I think it's overkill. Anyway, you wrote "???" in your edit summary, so I came here to explain. Cheers. @Thomas.W: False. Feel free to re-read Talk:2017 Stockholm attack/Archive 1#Pet dog and then get back to me. AusLondonder (talk) 09:55, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I agree with AusLondonder, as I already stated in the archived thread. (Why is the archiving so quick?) But adding the dog to the infobox, or adding the dog's name (for god's sake) is just grotesque. Bishonen | talk 10:03, 24 April 2017 (UTC).Reply
I have of course read the discussion in the archive, a discussion I took part in, and see no consensus for adding it (people who say they won't oppose it count as neutral in my book, and when looking at the rest I find more who oppose it than who support it...). - Tom | Thomas.W talk 10:10, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well when you mis-count consensus in a way that suits yourself it is no surprise you produce a result that suits yourself. AusLondonder (talk) 10:14, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Use British English template edit

Here you removed {{Use British English}} from Angers. While WP:TIES talks about which dialect should be used for new articles, my understanding of {{Use British English}}, based on its documentation, is that it's descriptive, not prescriptive. The article happens to be currently written in British English, and WP prefers that subsequent edits maintain consistency unless there is good reason to convert to another dialect (in this case, there isn't). The purpose of the template is to guide subsequent authors, and, at least in theory, the ENGVAR tool; this is an independent concept from WP:TIES. Did I miss something? David Brooks (talk) 02:14, 13 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

The Angers article currently uses a combination of American and British spelling, though. For example it uses "center" and -ize spelling. AusLondonder (talk) 09:57, 14 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of For Britain Edit edit

Hello AusLondoner, Can you supply your reason for your complete removal of my recent edit? --ThorpeCloud (talk) 19:21, 23 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@ThorpeCloud: Certainly - I reverted your edit because it was far too lengthy and WP:UNDUE for an article of that size. It also gave too much weight to the opinion of Waters and was not reliably sourced to an independent, reliable, secondary source as required. AusLondonder (talk) 05:31, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Reactions to... edit

I recommend you or someone else start a discussion on "Reactions to..." question. I think the threshold is rather obvious: simple and almost unanimous condemnation, condolences, or whatever the trend may be needs to be met with deletion, a selective merge, or at least a completely different outlook on how these pages are written. Without an actual plan in place, I have little choice but to keep nominating these articles for deletion, and thus far participants have agreed with my rationale. Thanks for bringing that category to my attention; articles like this are simply ridiculous and fall under what Wikipedia is not.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 17:56, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Reverting of Edits October 2017 edit

AusLondonder I watch with surprise how someone would just wake up to revert an edit that was fully sourced with 8 valids references, claiming the edit was not sourced and duly promotional. You just have to mention each sentence that was not backed up with a valid source and was promotional. KingMak1 (talk) 07:47, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Alert and question edit

This message contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

Please carefully read this information:

The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.

Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you that sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

BTW did you edit under any other account before?--Shrike (talk) 19:15, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

I am fully aware of the discretionary sanctions, thank you. I don't appreciate your loaded question. AusLondonder (talk) 07:45, 26 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • I followed User:Shrike here, and am struck by the question. AusLononder and I met, I think, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2012 Paros (Greece) rape, a sort of baptism-by-fire for me, back when I was still a fairly new and utterly naive editor using a lot of pretty stupid arguments at AfD and making a lot of rookie mistakes. He knew all the right things to say and turned the big guns on me - a memorable encounter. Looking back in the light of Shrike's very pointed question, I am struck by the fact that AusLondonder, who had purportedly only been editing a few months at that point, already knew all the rules, the lingo, and the way to intimidate a newbie. @Shrike:, you do understand that there is little point to this unless you have some idea under what name AusLondonder previously edited. He might merely be a very quick learner. Nevertheless, AusLondonder, I think you should be able to give Shrike a straight answer to the question: Did you edit under any other account before?E.M.Gregory (talk) 19:16, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
I really have no obligation to even engage with this ridiculous fishing expedition. Your disingenuous misrepresentation of the discuss on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2012 Paros (Greece) rape is really outrageous and truly typical for you. You seem to have a real problem with the truth, E.M.Gregory. You suggest that you were a "newbie" at the AfD discussion but you had been editing for more than six months longer than me. You say I "knew all the right things to say and turned the big guns on me" but my argument was just WP:NOTNEWS and failure of WP:GNG but I lost the AfD and you won! I've gone back and completely read the AfD and I have no fucking idea what you are talking about. If I said all the right things and you made "rookie errors" why did only one editor agree with me? I'm guessing this is part of your tried and tested tactic of flinging enough mud and hoping some will stick. But it is not going to work with me, buddy. So, E.M.Gregory. How come you had so much experience and learnt so fast after you joined? What was your previous account? AusLondonder (talk) 03:35, 30 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Anne Marie waters edit

Hi.

I am concerned that conservatives like AMW are being misrepresented by Wikipedia. I wonder if you can tell me why you think my edit is not impartial, given I have quoted AMW, ratger than someone else writing about her. If someone came to get an opinion of your political views, would you rather they asked you directly, or asked say me, who knows very little about you? This is what the Wikipedia entry for AMW is like. Lazy, heavily left leaning, and making no attempt whatsoever to hear what the real person has to say

Whether you know it or not, you have the power to censor the truth. You can claim that edits such as mine are being inaccurate or biased, but before you do, why not actually read what Ms. Waters has to say for herself? Go to Breitbart.com and read her articles. Listen to the Delingpole podcast interview with her. And then come back and tell me, with a straight face, that the Wikipedia entry isn't the most awful leftist propaganda.

Left or right, you have to acknowledge truth of an individual comes from their mouth, and no other.

Please also look up conservative, far right, democrat and British culture and values, to familiarise yourself with the claims

Andrew Ahg196 (talk) 08:30, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comments Ahg196. Wikipedia works on reliable sources. Per WP:WPNOTRS we also work mainly on the basis of secondary, and not primary, sources. Per WP:ABOUTSELF "Self-published and questionable sources" may be used in some contexts, but not if it is unduly self-serving or makes an exceptional claim. If Anne Marie Waters claims in an article she authored about herself that she is not an "anti-Islam activist" that seems to me both unduly self-serving and an exceptional claim, not supported by both her history of political activity and by reliable sources. Breitbart is not regarded as a reliable source at all. I cannot see how you would believe her article is "leftist propaganda", perhaps your own bias is showing? AusLondonder (talk) 17:35, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

AusLondoner - you seem to make a habit of altering items that don't fit your personal political views ? Not very helpful.

I stand by every single word I typed about Lady Nugee (AKA 'Emily Thornberry'). Please put them back and don't remove valid additions by British-born observers of the hypocritical side of British politics. Secondary sources? edit

May I ask your credentials to edit a political piece on a British politician. Are you Austrian as your handle suggests? If so, may I ask what qualifies you to edit entries on Wikipedia on the British and their politics.

Secondary sources? This is truly a nonsense if ever I heard it. A politician is in the business of politics. They make their living from it. They have nothing to hide, what they are is their product. If you would rather hear the views of a right wing politician from secondary sources (which happens to be heavily left biased) you get all sorts of opinions which do not represent the person. What is the reasoning for prioritising secondary sources? Can you explain?

Andrew

Ahg196 (talk) 19:05, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Ahg196: I am sorry you think our policies on sources are "nonsense". Unfortunately your personal opinion on sourcing requirements doesn't really matter. The reason you think everybody and everything is "left biased" is because you have your own (evidently very strong) political biases. Finally, Wikipedia is a global encyclopedia and not a Brexit fansite and I am certain I am an awful lot more qualified as an editor than yourself. AusLondonder (talk) 02:59, 30 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

I know my personal opinion doesn't matter, but I will still express my opinion that your system is a nonsense. If you have a section titled political views, surely taking the person's actual statements about what they believe is more valid than a third party's opinion on their beliefs? If it doesn't, then BLP's should be ignored on Wikipedia as being pure propaganda.

I have not mentioned my views on the EU referendum, and for you to bring them up is concerning. Would it change your mind if I had voted remain? I am not interested in rubbishing anyone, I just feel they deserve a fair hearing. As a publication which prides itself in impartiality, Wikipedia and this editors like you who decide what goes and what doesn't, must at least hear out what people have to say.

Since my complaint, I found this article which explains a lot. I expect you'll tell me it's not a credible source - probably because it criticises Wikipedia.

http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/102601/how-left-conquered-wikipedia-part-1-david-swindle

FrontPage Magazine doesn't seem like a reliable source. It is effectively a blog published by two political activists. I'm surprised you think having neutral, non-promotional biographies of notable people is "a nonsense". This isn't a left/right issue, by the way. Our sourcing policies apply project-wide. What specifically do you think should be added to Waters' bio? AusLondonder (talk) 10:34, 30 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Look over a Maoism related article? edit

Hi! Long story short, I have a student that has created the Maoist Theory of National Struggle article. His first drafts of this were a little too much in the WP:ESSAY territory and had some other issues that you can read about here, if you like. (It's basically the history of the editing of the page and is more related to image issues at first.)

I saw that you edited the article on Maoism recently and your edit suggested that you're familiar with the topic area. I'm not really familiar with Maoism enough to know if this is something that would warrant its own article or not. The article seems to look good, but I do really want to have input from someone more familiar with Maoism. I'd be incredibly grateful if you could look it over! Another reason that I wanted to reach out to you is that I seem to remember that you're not a staunch deletionist. I don't want student work to be kept if it doesn't benefit Wikipedia, but I also don't really want an automatic knee jerk reaction, if that makes sense. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Defence agencies of the European Union edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Defence agencies of the European Union requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Regarding writing my first article on Wikipedia edit

How I write a good article on Wikipedia. Especially how to add references. Suppose I have read around 7-8 articles on any topic and then I wrote this in my own word. Then in that case if I add only 1-2 in-text citation and all references or I need to follow something different strategy. Please guide I am eagerly waiting to write first article which would be accepted in my first attempt. PRABHAKAR.S (talk) 05:10, 9 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi @PRABHAKAR.S:, thanks for the question. Wikipedia:Your first article is a good first point of reference for advice on how to write a first article. You can also submit your article for review at Wikipedia:Articles for creation, to help ensure it is not subject to deletion. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I got the global city rankings from global city edit

The Global Power City Index from Tokyo from 2017 has London 1st. I have not been following Brexit negotiations closely and don't know how much decline of London a year of that has caused, maybe it's more than I'd guess? All I know is Theresa said negotiations stalled and if a breakthrough doesn't happen in some months it'll be a very disruptive hard Brexit. I'm not suggesting any city or pair of cities is as far ahead of the next one as Victorian London or New York of c.1953, that'll probably never happen again. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 15:20, 23 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Sagittarian Milky Way: Thanks for your reply and clarification. The Global Power City Index seems to me a rather subjective and biased index. Indeed as I understood it we were discussing power and importance of respective cities not things like their environment or accessibility nor their attractiveness to artists or managers. According to that index, neither Moscow nor Beijing even feature in the top ten global cities, which seems inexplicable. However, I appreciate you do have a basis for what you wrote and I'm happy to clarify I certainly intended no hard feelings towards you. AusLondonder (talk) 09:10, 27 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Good catch, I didn't notice the weird methodology. At any rate the GaWC_study ranking next one down puts New York and London in the top tier but hasn't published since 2016(?), presumably Brexit would decrease London's degree of integration with the world economy that this ranking is most concerned about. Also the study is British. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 20:52, 27 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

About Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi railway station edit

  Resolved
 – This warning was obviously not intended for the right target. Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 11:30, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi railway station a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 01:13, 17 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

@TheDragonFire300: The page history doesn't seem to support this allegation of out-of-process moving. AusLondonder (talk) 10:32, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, not for you. Don't ask about this warning; it may have resulted from the G6'ing of the article. Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). This message was left at 11:28, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

The article The City: London and the Global Power of Finance has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:2017 establishments in Cyprus edit

A tag has been placed on Category:2017 establishments in Cyprus requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

AussieLegend () 15:07, 21 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of National Centre for Advanced Studies edit

The article National Centre for Advanced Studies has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable program

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Apologies for the template. Proposed deletion of Konstantinos Alyssandrakis edit

The article Konstantinos Alyssandrakis has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references.

Liz Read! Could you please move the page edit

Hi, 7 days ago you supported the move of the page 1987 Meerut communal riots. 7 days have elapsed and I don't know how to move a page. The move is under WP:CONSISTENT and can be justified under WP:RMUM. Could you move the page? >>> Extorc.talk 08:46, 14 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Extorc: Hi, as it's a discussion started through requested moves and I have commented on the proposal it will probably be best to let another editor close it per Wikipedia:Simple RM closing instructions. Another editor, or admin, may decide to relist the discussion per WP:RMRELIST because of low participation. Unfortunately the process is a bit beauracratic. AusLondonder (talk) 16:29, 14 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Doesn't it qualify for move under WP:RMUM >>> Extorc.talk 17:45, 14 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

PRODs edit

Hello, AusLondonder,

Thank you for PRODding these air strips and private-use "airports". I'm not sure why years ago some page creators thought they were notable enough for their own articles. If anything, they should have been placed on a country or state list of private airports, not have stand along articles. I appreciate you taking the time to find and tag them for deletion. Liz Read! Talk! 21:12, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

American Christian Academy (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) edit

I deprodded that article. I usually agree with you. I've developed it a bit and as they've had numerous state athletic championships, it's pretty clear this isn't a MILL school. As a matter of fact, I'm really curious why they'd drop such a successful track program. I'm going to reach out to an editor with more experience to research any segregation history that may be appropriate to use. Any chance you could move it to American Christian Academy (Alabama)? There are other schools by the same name, but in other states, making just the state name the correct disambiguation. It's much easier for a registered editor I understand. 174.212.212.106 (talk) 11:53, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@174.212.212.106: Thanks for leaving a note. I'm happy to give time for improvements re sourcing and additional content. Happy to move as well given that seems quite a reasonable suggestion. AusLondonder (talk) 12:39, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

English Spelling edit

Hi. A few of your recent edits refer to Indian English when changing the spelling of some words. You should know that the idea that the use of "ize" is an Americanism is a recent fallacy, and Indian spelling generally uses British spelling, which has a long history of using both "ise" and "ize". Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 11:52, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Escape Orbit: I am well aware of Oxford spelling. However, Indian English uses -ise spelling. This is evident in usage by the government (see Indian Space Research Organisation, India Trade Promotion Organisation, Defence Research and Development Organisation), non-government bodies (All India Democratic Students Organisation) and the media. It is also supported by our Template:Indian English and the entire category tree of Category:Organisations based in India. AusLondonder (talk) 14:33, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
If we take the specific example of "analysed", I'm afraid what is says on Template:Indian English is not true. I wonder who was responsible for writing it? Here's Chetan Bhagat, a leading contemporary Indian author, spelling it "analyzed". Here's the Indian Space Research Organisation doing the same. Here's a one from the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The India Trade Promotion Organisation. Here's the Times of India. India Today (with a bonus "urbanization" in the headline). The Hindu.
Indian spelling uses both forms, just like British English. So it's not really correct to change spellings on the basis that one is not Indian spelling. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 19:33, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's easy to cherry-pick specific individual uses of analyze. I can do that for analyse. It would seem to me of more weight that, for example, so many agencies of the Indian government use "organisation" in their name. I also disagree that -ize is acceptable in modern British English spelling outside of specific contexts, such as some academic publications. I note even the University of Oxford style guide recommends against -ize. AusLondonder (talk) 23:02, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Official Name is Gurugram edit

Hi to whomsoever it may concern. We cannot retain former names of cities, the current name is Gurugram and not Gurgaon. Why do we need rfc ? it is common sense? If that is the case, then we should retain the city names Bombay and Madras. The advise received in preceding section is some editor's personal opinion. Personal opinions doesn't work in this case. News paper articles can write anything, they just take info from wikipedia, it is called mirroring of wikipedia. Coming to books and articles, there are still millions of articles calling cities as Bombay and Madras before their official name change. You cant take it as a standard, and forcefully rub your opinions on other editors. Your personal interest with Gurgaon instead of Gurugram cannot be endorsed by other editors. The Govt officially designated it as Gurugram city in (Gurugram District) - https://gurugram.gov.in/department/municipal-corporation-gurugram/ Fostera12 (talk) 14:08, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sam Corne edit

Hello, AusLondonder,

Please use Twinkle to tag pages for speedy deletion. Then when you select CSD G4, there is a field for you to put a link to the deletion discussion where it was decided to delete this article. It's necessary for patrolling admins to check and make sure there was an AFD for each article to verify the tagging and the tag you used provides no link to a relevant AFD discussion. So, this means that the admin will have to go looking for it themselves and the AFD might be under a different page title. What happens is that, most of the time, admins see this and just move on to some other task because it's a bit of a chore. So, this tagged article will probably sit around for some hours.

Twinkle is such a useful editing tool that does SO many things, you can use it to tag articles, report vandals to noticeboards, tag for a PROD, set up an AFD discussion, maintain a deletion log for you, it's a tool I use all day when editing and I encourage you to try it out if you haven't used it yet. Liz Read! Talk! 03:51, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Liz, thanks for your message. I do use Twinkle for AFDs, thanks for the reminder to use for speedy deletion. On a side note I am now thinking the Sam Corne article may not be sufficiently identical to the previous one deleted, but the AfD was at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sam Corne.
AusLondonder (talk) 05:21, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also to add to my comment I edit on mobile 95% of the time, I know I can use Twinkle just need to select Desktop view, but that's probably why I haven't been doing it always. AusLondonder (talk) 05:27, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion declined: Sam Corne edit

Hello AusLondonder, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Sam Corne, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: not sufficiently identical to the deleted version. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 21:13, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

This templated message isn't quite right. Thank you for looking out for potential G4 candidates. There's no way for you to know if it's identical or not, so you may as well tag. I might be less likely to do so when there's been so long a period since the AfD. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 21:14, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

March 2024 edit

Please stop attacking other editors, as you did on Talk:Te Whatu Ora. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Also at Talk:European settlers in New Zealand BilledMammal (talk) 05:10, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

This is completely ridiculous. My comments at the RM were not a personal attack. If I see editors engaging in culture wars and POV-pushing, I will call out it out. I am not the only one to notice your behaviour. Above I see ANI referrals, 1RR breaches and editor disputes. There's no question you were engaging in a culture war at Talk:Jewish exodus from the Muslim world#Requested move 26 February 2024 when nine of ten editors opposed you, many forcefully with very strong arguments. AusLondonder (talk) 06:18, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
At Talk:European settlers in New Zealand your complete argument against the move was This issue has been discussed enough already and I consider the latest RM to be disruptive. Simple question for the nom: What has changed since the previous RMs? If consensus goes against you, you should not simply try and exhaust other editors by repeating the process with a flawed argument every couple of years. Other editors have set out above, in detail, why this proposal is flawed and why the existing name is appropriate. This is disruptive behaviour that should not be rewarded.
At Talk:Te Whatu Ora, your argument started with Just the latest instalment of the Wikipedia culture wars brought to us by a certain editor. It is better than your !vote at European settlers in New Zealand, as it does go on to include an argument that isn't just an attack on an editor, but neither is acceptable - if you see an issue with an editor, bring it up, with evidence, on their talk page or at ANI. It is inappropriate, and against policy, to bring it up on an article talk page.
I'm not sure why you removed this and instead responded on my talk page, but please do not do so again - if you feel the need for further response then please do so here, to keep the discussion in a single thread. BilledMammal (talk) 06:44, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, please don't WP:HOUND me - turning up to take a position against mine immediately after I raise this issue, on an article you haven't engaged with since 2017, in a discussion started five days ago, strongly suggests you are following my edits. BilledMammal (talk) 06:49, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Please do not tell me how I construct my arguments at RMs. It was directly relevant to the RM to note that the nominator has a pattern of POV-pushing and engaging in culture wars. I note all three of the RMs in question were highly controversial and one was opposed 9-1. What I have done is go to ANI to have a look at what other editors have been saying about your behaviour and to say you're well-acquainted with that particular venue there is an understatement. I've been editing Wikipedia longer than yourself but have never been involved in anywhere near the level of disputes you have with other editors. Rather than always saying everyone else is in the wrong, why don't you consider why it is you have major disputes with so many editors? In January this year you were subject to significant criticism at ANI where a long-standing, well-respected editor stated that "I’ve long been concerned about BilledMammal's conduct (BATTLEGROUND is an apt description)" while another stated "BilledMammal's editing goes quite far with one-sided editing and attempts to defend it, and I'd call such edits as mentioned a blatant violation of NPOV and collegial spirit." Remember back in March 2022 when you said "it is clear that in general how I engage in discussion is not ideal, and even if this discussion is closed without action I will take any criticism onboard and attempt to adjust my behaviour to address it" but yet here we are again - you labelling editorial criticism personal attacks, accusing other editors of hounding for contributing to one discussion you're involved in. As a veteran editor said at the March 2022 ANI thread "My brief encounters with BM, gave me the impression that he argues for the enjoyment of arguing." Nothing has changed, has it? AusLondonder (talk) 07:24, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Per WP:PA: Do not make personal attacks anywhere on Wikipedia. Comment on content, not on the contributor.
Saying that the nominator has a pattern of POV-pushing and engaging in culture wars is commenting on the contributor, not content, and is against policy; I'm asking you politely to stop. If you believe there is an issue with my conduct that needs discussing, PA tells you what the appropriate forums are. BilledMammal (talk) 07:31, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
As I said, nothing has changed with the way you behave. You have been asked politely to stop battleground behaviour and POV-pushing but after each time-wasting ANI encounter you say you'll change (" I will take any criticism onboard and attempt to adjust my behaviour") but nothing ever changes. You still view Wikipedia as an ideological fight to win. Eventually, the community will tire of an editor who enjoys conflict and argument. AusLondonder (talk) 07:40, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Stop you mass deletions edit

Hello, You are misunderstanding Wikipedia's guidelines. The requirements you refer to for notability are sufficient, but not necessary for an article to be notable. Your selective choice of articles that you promote for deletion makes it appear that you are on a crusade against the IPSC. Sauer202 (talk) 11:51, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, I have never previously heard of IPSC. Why would I have something against it? These insinuations and conspiracy theories are not constructive. I have no need to defend myself but if you see my contributions I frequently nominate articles for deletion, the majority of which are subsequently deleted. I'm not sure what you mean regarding the notability of organisations. WP:NORG states that the policy applies to "commercial and non-commercial activities, such as charitable organizations, political parties, hospitals, institutions, interest groups, social clubs, companies, partnerships, proprietorships, for-profit educational institutions or organizations, etc." This obviously includes the articles in question. When you created a large number of wholly unsourced articles would you not expect that to be an issue? AusLondonder (talk) 12:48, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Your are posting a factual error that the articles in question were unsourced. I can agree that they were undersourced and could need improvement. I would be glad to improve them given a couple of days. However, I think it is not fruitful that they are speedily deleted and that editors are not given a chance to improve the articles. As mentioned, these stubs have been on the Wiki for about 10 years. While the notability guidelines set sufficient parameters for notability, they do not necessarily say these are necessary requirements. Nevertheless, I feel the approach of mass deletions harms the project. In my eyes, it seems like you may have gotten into a rhythm where you can not see the forest for the trees. Sauer202 (talk) 08:05, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I won't nominate any more for deletion for the next few days, to give you time to begin improvements. Unfortunately though you are wrong regarding notability requirements for organisations. Per WP:ORGCRIT: "A company, corporation, organization, group, product, or service is presumed notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject." This applies to all organisations. This is part of WP:NORG; "The scope of this guideline covers all groups of people organized together for a purpose" Finally, to clarify, the articles deleted were in fact wholly unsourced. Some featured external links, others featured dead external links. That is not considered sourcing. AusLondonder (talk) 12:22, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Lynwood edit

On the topic of unnotable lists of mayors, you may want to look at List of mayors of Lynwood, California, a city of just under 70,000 that seems to have mostly primary sourcing. Candidates and AFD edit

I think we get non-policy !votes when there is an AfD of a US senatorial candidate close to an election. I think it is better to clean up the article and then consider what to do with the article after the election is in the rear view mirror. - Enos733 (talk) 22:10, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yeah although I frankly think many of the !votes at that AfD should be disregarded, but I can't see an admin closing as delete or redirect now. AfD has pretty much become a purely numbers game these days, an AfD I started recently was closed as keep despite several editors literally advancing complete falsehoods as justification for keeping. It's a pretty dumb precedent to be setting that people can be notable purely for coverage they receive as an election candidate. AusLondonder (talk) 02:33, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
And our community has and is moving away from any presumption of notability. - Enos733 (talk) 15:26, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Geriatricists edit

Wikipedia only has about 70 articles that have been placed in the geriatricists category. With that few I think we would be best off merging all of them. I really think we need to create a rule that we will not subdivide any occupation by nationality if we have under 100 articles on people who did it. This especially applies when it is a sub-cat of physicians/medical doctors, who are a sub-cat of scientists. If this was a top level occupation kline barbers.John Pack Lambert (talk) 03:36, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

on further review we have 81 articles in the barners category, and have not subdivided them at all. At least one is disambiguation as a historian. I have no clue if all of these really ought to be in the batlrber category. I also have no clue if all those in "geriatricists" really belong there, some may be doctors who we would argue do not quite make the cut. The main point is that we can and do for dome occupations not divide by nationality. I see no reason why geriatricists cannot be such a nomination.John Pack Lambert (talk) 03:40, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Radio station deletions edit

I don't disagree that these database-sourced articles don't demonstrate notability but per WP:ATD I believe it would be better to redirect them to the appropriate List of... articles. I will continue to assert this in my WP:PRODPATROLING unless there is some indication from WP:AFD or WP:MFD that deletion is preferred by the community. We could save each other both some work if you used WP:BLAR instead of WP:PROD for these. ~Kvng (talk) 17:18, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I don't really agree that all these articles need redirects. I'm not sure that the community consensus is to favour redirect over delete. Within the last month, multiple radio station articles I've taken to AfD have been deleted: see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/KEAA-LP, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/WFHA-LP (2nd nomination) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/KMAC (FM). I'm also not certain redirects are called for per WP:RPURPOSE. Many of these list articles such as List of radio stations in Alaska and List of radio stations in Wyoming are wholly unsourced by the way. AusLondonder (talk) 10:13, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply. I will keep watching the AfDs. The examples you link to are not yet convincing me that there is a community preference for deleting over redirecting in this subject area. ~Kvng (talk) 12:12, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Of the redirects, all but one of those are television stations, and two of them were redirected to articles about parent companies rather than poorly sourced lists. Of those deleted, AfDs were attended by experienced editors aware of the option to redirect, so the lack of specific discussion of ATD doesn't seem overly relevant to me. You seem to be implying that we should be considering television stations separately. I think they fall under the same issue of stations previously presumed notable due to licensing.
I take your point that experienced editors should know about WP:ATD, that doesn't seem to be universally the case though. If you can find some examples where a specific redirect was suggested and then rejected by others in the discussion or by the closer, that would be persuasive.
I will try to add to the above lists as this develops. ~Kvng (talk) 13:56, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
All AfDs I've been watching have closed. All your recent station AfDs have closed as redirect. ~Kvng (talk) 01:00, 20 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hmm that's weird, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/KKGU closed as delete yesterday. AusLondonder (talk) 01:07, 20 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
That wasn't one I was watching. I'm not sure why. I've added it to the list though. Now that it has been deleted, I can't determine whether I was ever involved. I clearly wasn't involved in the AfD.
The pattern is clear for this set of articles though. Whenever a reasonable redirect target is suggested at AfD (parent company or list), it is accepted. Again, if you know of an exception to this, I'd be interested to see it. ~Kvng (talk) 13:42, 20 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion declined: Alex Bhathal edit

Hello AusLondonder, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Alex Bhathal, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: G4: not substantially identical; much new information since the page's deletion 8 years ago. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 13:49, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Ivanvector: Thanks for the note. I can't see the deleted version, although I suspected it may have changed slightly with more elections contested. AusLondonder (talk) 13:57, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, that's a problem with this criterion, if you could see the deleted version then you wouldn't need to tag it to delete in the first place. The eight-year-old deleted version was basically a promotional profile of a non-notable candidate contesting their first election. They seem to have acquired some notability as a perennial candidate in the meantime (I didn't look too closely) but you could list at AFD if you think notability is still not there. Re: G4 deletions. A clue for non-admins who can't see previously deleted articles: I've learned to check the references -- if any of them are newer than the article deletion date, then it's not the same article. (Maybe it's very similar but since I don't know for sure, I don't recommend a speedy G4 deletion). --A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 16:52, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Deepak Narwal edit

@AusLondonder you think it's a bad article? Any chances to help it? 2001:14BA:4C18:F400:7876:2711:9C0:693A (talk) 10:53, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Username reporting edit

"Egregious username" usually only means particularly vulgar usernames or particularly offensive/denigrating usernames, not promotional usernames. I can't speak to another situation without knowing what it was. I'm happy to discuss this further at WT:U. 331dot (talk) 19:40, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
