Careful edits to your User page

A few of us gnomes go around fixing pages with Special:LintErrors, and your user page popped up on my radar as a page with many errors that were causing the page to be displayed in ways that changed when Tidy went away. I have boldly and carefully made some changes to your page in order to restore it to what it likely looked like before Tidy's departure. If I have made any errors, I apologize. I'm happy to fix any mistakes that I have made; just let me know what doesn't look right. (There are still some low-priority errors remaining; a bot will probably come by someday to fix those, if the community deems it necessary.) – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:27, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Jonesey95 - thank you for all the work you do gnoming. I thought I cleaned the lint trap several months ago to prevent moisture build-up and eventual paint peel - guess not. I am rather dependent on Tidy so whatever accommodates a better display of my page's cleanliness, please feel free to gnome away...although don't be concerned about any of the dirty language you may happen upon. I have a healthy variety of (talk page watcher)s / (  Buttinsky)s, some of whom are rather rowdy and unpredictable...ah, but variety is the spice of life. Atsme✍🏻📧 17:42, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Lint knitted into sweaters.
Thanks for tolerating me. And don't worry about the salty bits; they make my day a lot more fun than the edit wars and clue-impaired folks that infect some of my other gnome hangouts. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:46, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
I think quite a bit of this comes out of what turned out to be a mess that emerged in one of my talk page archives. There was enough lint to knit a sweater, and I think a lot of it was thanks to Atsme (and to Thunder Britches, whose return I hope is imminent). Jonesey95 was kind enough to fix it for me, and I'm guessing your messages showed up. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:37, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
(clears throat) Tryp - about my lint...according to the wikilinked thread, my sig has been fixed, but when that thread began there were "8,809,398 lint errors of type Obsolete HTML tags, most of those <font> tags. My sig represents only a few parts per million, which is a tiny part of a much bigger problem. In other words, you've probably got more lint in your navel than what I've left behind in threads on your TP. Atsme✍🏻📧 01:40, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Oh, sorry, did you say something to me? I was distracted by the rotor blades. --Tryptofish (talk) 22:49, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Day-em rotor blades...they'll do it everytime. So...speaking of rotor blades...here's one for you, Tryp:
A blonde woman was taking helicopter lessons. The instructor said: "I'll radio you every 1,000 feet to see how you're doing."
The instructor radioed her at 1,000 ft. and said she was doing great. Told her she was still doing well at 2,000 ft.
Just before 3,000 feet, the propeller stopped, and she twirled to the ground. The instructor ran to her and pulled her out of the wreckage. He asked, "What went wrong?"
She said: "At 2,500 feet, I was getting cold so I turned the big fan off." Atsme✍🏻📧 22:59, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

Golden retriever with her litter of 13 goldendoodle puppies

Gandydancer (talk) 05:30, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Wow! 13 puppies and you survived! My daughter's litter is down by 2 and the survivors are getting big fast, Gandydancer. She, not I, is the one who was blessed/cursed with that litter. I'm a former breeder of Rottweilers - retired from breeding/raising/training-exhibiting when there was no one left but me to clean the dog runs. As you already know, being a breeder-kennel owner is a lot of work that requires child labor. My oldest daughter (who had excellent training in kennel cleaning/training as a child) ventured into raising/breeding/exhibiting American Bulldogs and French Bulldogs, and has done well. She had one litter of 13 bullies a while back but I was never blessed/cursed with such a huge litter. I'm just an humble spectator. I can only imagine what it must be like to be strapped with the responsibility. Crissy's holiday litter of 12 is now down to 10 puppies; 1 died at birth, and another had ichthyosis and had to be put down. I see where some of our dog articles need some work so as soon as I can pry myself away from The Adventures of Merlin marathon on Netflix, I'll get busy. I also have an image of a premature red bag foal that I've been meaning to upload. Oh, and I raised/owned/sold a few pot bellied pigs, one of whom (my Miss Piggy) was in a B-movie that aired on Bravo (Flowers on a MooMoo), and another I gave to Leslie Merrill (she hosted/did voice overs for me) was flown to New York to appear on David Letterman's stupid pet tricks. As it turned out, the night she was scheduled, Letterman hosted Sting and Samuel L. Jackson, and the show ran overtime, so all Leslie came away with was a year's supply of Coors Lite, and some photographs of Layla with the 2 celebs. Atsme✍🏻📧 14:57, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Atsme!

Just dropping by to apologise for not getting back to your holiday greetings. To be honest I just went off -line just before Christmas. I feel really bad for not getting back to you, but I was in the badlands emotionally. Son of a bitch. I do hope you and yours are well and kicking arse where it's required! Forgive me babe? Respect and love. Si.Simon Adler (talk) 05:02, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
Simon Adler!! What a pleasant surprise. Of course you're forgiven, even though you've done nothing that requires forgiveness. I was wondering what happened to you and thought maybe you were just taking some time off for the holidays. I'm sorry to hear you were down in the dumps. What can I and your other Wikifriends do to (1) make you feel better, and (2) prevent potential badlands trips in the future? 😘 Atsme✍🏻📧 06:26, 16 February 2019 (UTC)

Peche is just a little more subtle than kriek so it should precede when it comes to tasting. Kriek before peche is like an IPA before a brown ale.

Before and after     North America1000 03:08, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Northamerica1000, Berean Hunter, GRuban - the Montmorency cherry juice arrived, and I made my first beverage today for happy hour. By itself, the juice is a bit sour, so here's what I did to "sweeten" it to my taste: 12 glass of cherry juice, 14 glass 7-Up (or Tonic water), and a double jigger of Apple Jim Beam (or Apple Crown) (make the glass as big as you can handle). Vanilla vodka would work, or if you're into a more fruity taste, raspberry vodka. Tomorrow I'll be picking up the Lindeman's Framboise and Lindeman's Kriek. No Peche or Samuel Smith Organic Cherry Ale to be found in this state. Can't ship beer into Texas. I'll try to get some pictures before the tasting begins. Atsme 📣 📧 03:08, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

The long and short of it.

Montmorency Cherry juice
Is that Montmorency cherry juice a concentrate? Most that I'm seeing online is. I noticed this recommended mixdown. (...jots down note to pick up Apple Beam.) I suspect that Rumple minze & 7up (what I know as a Certs shot) could be mixed with cherry juice. The juice would probably be nice in a variation to a classic Alabama slammer, too. The cherry lollipop is excellent.
Lindeman's is an excellent pick. This well done video and this one may help lend appreciation to the treats that you have in store. Somehow, I set out today to get kriek and peche and instead came back with four different types of Sierra Nevada. I'm hoping to get into the coffee stout later.

Re: "I'll try to get some pictures before the tasting begins..." The cherry juice article would certainly benefit from the addition of a better image than what's presently there. North America1000 22:01, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
NA1000 - today I bought 4 wine glasses with stems shaped like the Eiffel Tower but if that doesn't work, I have plenty of other glasses. BH - the Montmorency tart cherry juice I have is fresh pressed and pasteurized, brand is Indian Summer. I tried it with the Club Soda tonight but I like it with 7-Up better. At Total Wine & More, they had a tester set-up with samples of Samuel Adams Blonde mixed with Apple Crown. Surprisingly tasty. Apple Crown is much smoother than Apple Jim Beam but it tends to sneak up on you much faster. 😊 Tomorrow will be a busy shoot shot day for me. Atsme 📣 📧 02:12, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

BH, thank you for your recommendations. I conducted a taste-test of the Peche served in champagne glasses to Sunday guests. Outstanding, and not at all what any of us expected. I'm glad that you found the peche after all and that you and your guests enjoyed it. I have found that these three particular lambics make for good small gifts at Christmas, too. The only problem that I've ever had with them is that they tend to disappear too quickly, leaving you wanting more. You may also like it without the fruit as it still has a distinctive flavor and you can occasionally find it sold near the others as gueuze.

Don't know him, but wmd is not considered a RS by any means, especially by WP:PAGs which I respect. I get the point you came to make, and I do feel somewhat vindicated as it relates to my position of "exercising caution" regarding WP:NEWSORG, WP:RECENTISM, biased media, pundits and opinion vs fact. Knowing journalism/media as I do, and having gone up against 2 of the big 3 networks in RL, I know full well that despite the information we have now and that which will be revealed in the near future - information that will likely stir the very souls of the American people - it is far from being over. We still have to endure the media's "save face" position that will surely lead the way into next year's elections. There will always be the diehards who will continue to beat a dead horse, and those who will defend fake news and propaganda simply because it serves their agenda or supports their POV. The few who will never admit they're wrong, no matter what, will eventually lose all credibility and fade away. They are typically the ones who accuse innocents of doing exactly the same thing they're doing but will never admit to it. It becomes highly problematic when it takes the form of a majority that targets individuals with opposing views - it's group think run amok - a mobocrasy, not unlike the lynch mobs that were riled emotionally rather than acting pragmatically. We've endured similar under prior presidents and survived, and we will under this one. Time wounds all heels.

Back on point...I found WaPo's take on it interesting but cautiously noncommittal: "The fact that Mueller isn’t indicting Trump tells us nothing about his conclusions about the president personally. But the fact that none of his campaign aides or advisers are going to be charged with conspiracy does suggest Trump won’t be accused." Too bad they didn't handle the original accusations equally as well. I agree that it's better to wait until it's all out in the open, and the American people are made as fully aware of the circumstances as what our national security allows, but we can't just totally dismiss the obvious. We simply state the facts with strict adherence to NPOV. Atsme Talk 📧 13:36, 24 March 2019 (UTC) 12:08, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Looks like editors' concerns about SPLC were not for naught, either. @Berean Hunter: At the risk of failing to move on, and purely for my education: If Atsme's account was not compromised, that leaves five possibilities: Someone used Atsme's computer while she was logged in, Atsme did it and had forgotten she did it by 30 minutes later, Atsme did it and is lying about it, 4.) there is some glitch in Wikipedia's email system that causes emails to be delivered so long after they were sent that the sender has understandably forgotten about them, or 5.) the email was a perfect forgery not sent through Wikipedia. I have taken full responsibility for the glitch - be it the result of my stupidity, forgetfullness, an anamoly, senility, or other health issue or computer/software glitch you want to throw into the mix. Ask yourself why I would send you an email containing nothing more than "Houston, we have a problem." I am not known for brevity, so if there truly was a problem, it would have been presented to you in a lengthy paragraph chapter, or novel. If there was a serious personal problem, I would have consulted my family first, and if it was a WP problem...well, when have you known me to not speak up publicly about an issue? Granted, I prefer to avoid controversy and I cannot imagine what controversy I would have consulted you about considering we rarely communicate. It's Sunday, the one day I work hard at being an 😇. When adding links to material on external sites, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube or Sci-Hub, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Alexbrn (talk) 18:34, 14 April 2019 (UTC)

Alex, I have asked you to NOT COME TO MY TP. You are only 1 of 2 users who are not welcome here, especially now that you've dropped such a ridiculous fallacious warning bomb that smells worse than a pile of fresh 💩. You have spent the past 2 days gaslighting and pounding me with one PA after another and I hope the admins watching my TP will take the proper measures to stop your big boy bullying of this female editor. Just today you said it would be best for me to get a WP:CLUE, but you are actually the one who needs the clues, starting with the following: Pluto Network - watch the video. Scholarly Communication for Researchers, Powered by Researchers If you believe Pluto Network is in violation of copyrights, then do whatever you need to do and stop them, but I have not seen anything that even comes close to a copyvio at their site. One last thing - before you go dropping anymore warnings like this one on any other WP users, you need to pause long enough to take an introspective look and make sure your actions are not subconsciously motivated by a potential COI. Is this who we want to be?

The following quote by Diannaa nearly 7 years ago is filled with insight and compassion, and it certainly struck a cord with me because her words are applicable to more than just the case she addressed. I think they may apply to numerous situations across the entire WP community. May her words ring eternal. Atsme✍🏻📧 14:10, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

I have been thinking about this thread for a few days and noticed there are quite a few things mentioned here that Pumpkin Sky is being asked to do before he is allowed to return:

  • speak to the community
  • face the music
  • admit his mistakes
  • agree to learn to avoid his previous pitfalls
  • apologize
  • pave the road
  • give his opponents a chance to get their ounce of blood or set conditions for his return
  • "pay"/"own up"
  • address the allegations
  • willing to accept the consequences
  • work to address all of the issues, both content and conduct-related
  • explain Barking Moon's hostility
  • seek redemption
  • face whatever sanctions
  • let people take their pound of flesh
  • let people parade his sins out before the world
  • let people know he is being punished
  • needs to show remorse
  • seek absolution

Is that really the kind of community we want to be? Is that really the kind of people we want to be? Or maybe we can trim this list down to things that are actually in line with the way civilised people behave, and are actually relevant to building an encyclopedia. Just my opinion. --Dianna (talk) 8:56 am, 14 April 2012, Saturday (6 years, 10 months, 18 days ago) (UTC−5)

Your AE comment

  • [1]. I saw a lot of disputes like that. In Russian society that could be a discussion if "Crimea is ours", etc. This is not at all about "left" and "right" and even not about "politics". This is about two things: (a) moral values of participants in discussion, and (b) purely practical issues (for example, tax laws, state budget or government shutdown affect directly a lot of people). My very best wishes (talk) 14:50, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
Interesting perspective. Thanks for stopping by Mvbw. Atsme Talk 📧 15:22, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
Well, I just wanted to say that your comment was unhelpful. Personally, I do not see "AP2 fiasco" or "hatred" by any contributors. But regardless, if you see a problem (I do not see it), you are expected to suggests a solution, with appropriate justification on appropriate noticeboard. Otherwise, others are going to follow your example [2] and expose themselves to potential sanctions for Wikipedia:Casting aspersions. My very best wishes (talk) 17:42, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
We all have a POV, and now I know yours. Thanks for sharing. Perhaps this essay will prove more helpful. Atsme Talk 📧 19:39, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
I do not think your AE comment had anything to do with my biases. But, yes, I do have a problem with understanding US politics, perhaps because of my background. For example, I understand why Russians "vote" for Putin or Ukrainians will vote for Zelensky. But I can not understand why so many Americans voted (and will vote) for the current president. Even though I do have friends and even relatives who voted for him. My very best wishes (talk) 18:13, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
I doubt some of the people who voted for him even know that answer. It could be generational, or simply frustration with career politicians and lobbyists, and/or the failures of big government on a global scale? There is a wide gap between the needs of suburbanites/ruralites vs urbanites on both coasts which certainly played a role. I also believe public vs private education may have been instrumental as was gender. Check out the demographics/voting profiles at PEW. As a sidebar, I'll just mention that I was a bit dismayed over what I read in a Wikileaked email from Bill Ivey to John Podesta wherein the following statement caught my attention (my bold for emphasis):

Secretary Clinton is not an entertainer, and not a celebrity in the Trump, Kardashian mold; what can she do to offset this? I'm certain the poll-directed insiders are sure things will default to policy as soon as the conventions are over, but I think not. And as I've mentioned, we've all been quite content to demean government, drop civics and in general conspire to produce an unaware and compliant citizenry. The unawareness remains strong but compliance is obviously fading rapidly. This problem demands some serious, serious thinking - and not just poll driven, demographically-inspired messaging.

There's also the issue of MSM's 90% negativity which appears to have backfired on them and created a lot of distrust, perhaps more so now after the Mueller investigation found there was no collusion. One last thought - it's hard to convince people that higher taxes = a better life for them (the working middle class), or that government needs to control health care. I imagine Americans have seen how things are going in the UK and Canada. That's all I've got as an explanation at this point. I try not to think too much about politics but when I do, my focus is on NPOV first and foremost, BLP, RS, RECENTISM, NEWSORG, MOS and copy editing, and of course, using common sense to know when to deploy IAR. Hope that helps. Atsme Talk 📧 19:10, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
Thank you! Personally, I could not care less if someone was a celebrity, a professional politician, or even a republican. What matters for me is what kind of person he/she is, and what are the views and ideas by the candidate. Yes, that's a nice chart. It tells that the president has been elected mostly by poorly educated older white men. About health care in US, the problem is the lack of market system (you do not know how much the services cost in different hospitals and can not choose), but surprisingly, Trump administration was working to fix it... Personally, I also do not mind to increasing the taxes. Main problem I think the state budget: they fund war, rather than education, science and technology. My very best wishes (talk) 01:49, 21 April 2019 (UTC)

Hey, I've got a ton of Flickr files to upload to Commons, is there an automatic or at least-semi automatic way to do it?

And then just add categories or something.

Or someone being a bit of a weirdo who likes to do it manually, because I sure don't. SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 20:09, 17 April 2019 (UTC)

The mobile version is absurdly dysfunctional and horrible and it's bugging me so

And I don't even know where to go about it. Things including but not limited to navboxes not showing up at all (!), talk pages being inaccessible (!!!), block quotes appearing in HUGE FONTS instead of smaller-than-usual fonts in the normal (desktop) version, and more it's all so stupid and annoying for no reason and for I don't know how many years now. SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 14:37, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

You're not alone in that regard. Is there not an option to change to desktop when you scroll down?? Atsme Talk 📧 14:45, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

There's a wishlist for WMF somewhere on this site. Maybe one of my tps know the address. I'll try to find it, too but they need to know that while it may work well for casual readers, it's pretty dysfunctional for editors. Atsme Talk 📧 15:04, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
SNAAAAKE!! - start here. Atsme Talk 📧 16:06, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

Oh god, just a quick look at all this bureaucracy was enough to chase me away. What's annoying me most is the issue of completely absurd quotation font size and this should be really quickly fixed by making it even simply the standard font size - not even smaller like on desktop, I don't really care, just not this giant size. SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 16:28, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

Also just look at for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avalon wheere I used different quotation styles (different for the "here lies Arthur" that has a larger font) - and compare with https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avalon where just everything is huge without a difference. It's so stupid, why would anyone do it. SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 16:31, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

Another issue I just though about Talk:Plastic Keys to Paradise - as in my comments there, but I think everyone else who commented (no matter their views or beliefs) will agree on just that the article should be arranged to be completely rewritten or just deleted (not salted, just because it's so damn awful). SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 17:10, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

Capture screen images of the issues you're encountering on your mobile device and submit them to Village Pump Tech. They may know some workarounds besides switch to desktop view. Oh, and check in your WP Preferences under Gadgets and Beta to make sure you don't have something turned on (or not turned on) that may help. With regards to anything political or religious in nature like the article you referenced above, my suggestion is for you to not even read such articles on WP because you will be tempted to engage. There are so many other areas where your talents are needed. What about the architectural styles during medieval times, and the story/legends behind gargoyles and similar building garnishments? Atsme Talk 📧 18:15, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

It's not about my preferences, it's about my work looking entirely not as I intended for many many people (maybe most, as apparently most people use mobile, which is not surprising as it's automatically showing up on a phone from a search engine). The Iran keys article - someone needs to entirely rewrite (and rename) it, or it has to be deleted and it's not even going to be controversial. --SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 18:36, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

Oh, Ok so you're saying that changing your preferences has no effect on the way you see your work (not even browser prefs?), so the same applies to others using mobile devices. Hmmm...the developers of my website made it so that the desktop view and mobile view are compatible. I think they succeeded. I imagine WP is using an entirely different markup that makes it more complex in its simplicity and by doing so, it does not allow for compatibility between the two different views. It is my understanding that WMF is working on a cure but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Can you write code?   Atsme Talk 📧 19:27, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

No, I mean it's not about me, it's all about randoms watching these articles on their phones. I hoped you'd maybe get them work on fixing the horrid mobile version that was made so awful for just no reason whatsoever. --SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 21:23, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

I understand but it's not that simple to get changes/updates made. You'll be happy to know the techs are working on it but you also saw the multiple layers of bureaucracy we have to peel back in order to get the tools we need. I wish we could make it go faster but having said that...you can spit in one hand, and wish in the other and see which hand fills the fastest. That's just the way it is, I'm afraid.
