Jaber Castle

Dear AtilimGunesBaydin and Shocktm,

First of all I would like to thank you for your contributions to title Caber Kalesi (Jaber Castle).

I would like to draw your attention to a point about the information I have submitted, but changed by yourself.

I had typed that Jaber Castle is an "independent territory" of Turkey. I am now aware of that I should use "sovereign territory of Turkey". Shocktm claims that "the castle is a property of Turkey with rules like an embassy". But it is not...

Article 9 of Ankara Treaty of 1921 rules that, the castle is a "mülk" of Turkey. Yes, one of the meanings of the word "mülk" is "property". But when it is under an old international treaty about "lands" it means the sovereign territory. As we know from the Turkish saying, "Adalet mülkün temelidir", the word mülk refers to different meanings, including the word "state", "country" and "territory".

For example, the lands of the Ottoman State was also called "Osmanlı mülkü". So, Article 9 of the Treaty of Ankara which says: "Türk mülkü" for the Jaber Castle exactly means "Turkish land", "Turkish territory"; not "Turkish property".

Consequently, I would like to insist that those I had typed which mentions that the castle is an exclave and sovereign territory of Turkey are true information, in accordance with international law. It is very different than a status of an embassy or another foreign mission territory.

(As another instance, everybody thinks that "air bases" of Britain in Cyprus island are just air bases; like the USA air bases in various countries. However, air bases of Britain in Cyprus are also sovereign territories of the UK.)

Kind regards. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cercersan (talkcontribs) 23:32, 16 August 2007.

Istanbul megalopolis

I have identified the transcontinental megalopolis of Istanbul-Bursa-Çanakkale, which has by conservative estimates at least 17 million residents. See the megalopolis page for the entry. Heff01 20:15, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:TurkishPeople.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:TurkishPeople.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Evil Spartan 00:44, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:FezaGursey.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:05, 16 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. `'Míkka 18:05, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:FezaGursey.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. `'Míkka 18:05, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi

Hi, how are you? I hope all is fine. I don't remember very well, but I am not sure if I had congratulated you on the FA of Turkish language. If I have not, do accept my belated congratulations. So what are you working on these days? Baristarim 17:43, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Portishead.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Portishead.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:18, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

The geographical distribution of the Turkic-speaking people

Hi, Atilim. How are you? I hope everthing's fine with you. Since you're editing the article's on Turkic languages, i'd like to ask you the sources for the geographical distribution. There are two maps Image:Turkic languages.png and Image:Altaic family2.png related with the regions. The Ethnologue Turkic language tree provides descriptions in its entries, but i'm looking for a more informative one. I shall greatly appreciate, if you can find the related references. Best wishes. As a past contributor to a Tuva-related article, I was wondering if you would be interested in forming a Tuva workgroup of Wikipedia:WikiProject Central Asia with me? Disputed fair use rationale for Image:TurkishYTL.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:TurkishYTL.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 02:29, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
