speedy

As reviewing administrator, I have removed you speedy deletion tags from Zi Zhongyun and from Anna Gustafsson Chen. Any indication of importance is enough to pass speedy deletion. That a persona has published books is an indication of plausible importance (unless they are clearly self published books) The person may or may not be notable, butthe level for passing speedy is much less than notability--see WP:CSD for an explanation.

As for these two people, it seems pretty clear to me that Chen at least is notable;,and I think Zhongyun is also, though it's not quite as clear. Please remember that references do not have to be in English. And an article does not even have to be referenced to pass speedy, even for a BLP.

I similarly did not consider VigLink to be pure advertising--it contained factual content. I do not think the firm is notable, and I have nominated it for prod, and will follow it up at AfD if the prod is removed. With Tiny Bull Studiios]] likewise -- it claims to have released numerous published games, and that;s enough to pass speedy A7. I changed it to Prod.

I do not think you have enough experience here yet to patrol new pages. Please do some article writing first, and then read carefully [[WP:Deletion policy] ]and WP:CSD. DGG ( talk ) 20:17, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dhani Bandhwali, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mohanpur (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Japanese actors' names

Hey Athomeinkobe,

Thank you for your information and edits to correct the mistranslations! Not many editors who knows Japanese are even aware or interested about such pages, so I am delighted that you have taken the time to have a look through. I will drop you a message should I be stumped with some translations (as you know Japanese names can be quite tricky at times). Cheers and happy editing! --Lionratz (talk) 00:26, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Whopper, etc.

On Dec. 4, 2014, The Rambling Man summarily deleted the following exchange — an action which in my view constitutes petty censorship. Do you think we should register a complaint at WP:AN? Sca (talk) 18:49, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Sca (talk · contribs), it is a bit disappointing that it has been removed before the day is over. But since there is only an hour left until the front page changes, I don't think it is worth making a big mac fuss about it. Besides, I'm not in an arguing mood because your final comment below gave me a really good laugh for first thing in the morning! AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 23:05, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
Well, if I've made someone laugh, that's an accomplishment!   All the best. Sca (talk) 00:32, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Hindus and Hamburgers

I realise that what I am about to mention is not an error and that discussions about picture placement on the main page are a recurring theme. However, having said that, I find the picture of a Whopper next to an entry about Hindu widows self-immolating to be a little, well, odd? Unfortunately, looking at the list, it may be difficult to pick a different picture. But I am mentioning this anyway. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 06:20, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

A recent, lengthy discussion of this problem (as it similarly relates to ITN) my be found here. Sca (talk) 13:40, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi Sca, yes I remember that discussion was still on this page until a day or two ago. I refrained from commenting then. But in this case, if the best option is an unappealing burger, could the section survive a day without a picture at all?AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 14:18, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
Oh, just to be certain, that is really a rhetorical question. I am not trying to suggest you are accountable!AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 14:20, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Nope, I'm just an old newspaper guy who's brought up this topic a number of times over the years. I think it's, er, a whopper of a problem. Sca (talk) 17:47, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. Actually, these are student articles, not mine, but thank you for the offer to help, born out of the idea that students should be sharing their own knowledge with the world, that their knowledge is valuable. This is a great experience for the students, although it seems some Wikipedia peeps are quite irritated. Oops. Will be more strict about their articles in the future (next year). I was hoping that editors would just make their articles better or suggest relocations, rather than just get rid of them entirely. Sigh. Also, I've realized that Wiki peeps don't realize that Shinbun means newspaper, so people are thinking that references in the articles are blogs. Of course I've I've noticed other areas that need improvement on my part as well. Oh well. Live and learn.Kyodaiteeter (talk) 23:40, 11 December 2014 (UTC).

I see that User:DAJF has given you some advice on how to help your students. I hope it is useful for your and your students. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 23:04, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
