Speedy deletion nomination of Obachan in Osaka edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Obachan in Osaka requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Contribution to yuru-chara edit

Thanks for your contribution to the yuru-chara article, but unfortunately I have decided to revert your changes for a number of reasons: I did not think the content was up to Wikipedia standards, it had no proper references, and I don't think it was an appropriate location for this content - Mayumaro is relatively unknown compared to other more popular mascots who have little to no information on the English-language Wikipedia, yet this content was taking up nearly a quarter of this article. If you think Mayumaro is notable, please create a separate article - but I suspect it will get deleted if the content is not improved significantly. Please see here and here for more advice. --Zilog Jones (talk) 12:54, 4 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello Kyodaiteeter edit

Hi! I've been reading the articles that you have been writing for Wikipedia. There are some very interesting topics there. Unfortunately, they are not suitable for Wikipedia so many of them are being deleted. I am an Australian living in Kobe. What topics are you interested in? If we work together I think we can make some good articles that will not be deleted. I can read and write Japanese too, so I think we can make a good team. Have a good day! Student projects? edit

Hi Kyodaiteeter. I noticed the comment you left on Athomeinkobe's Talk page, which implies you are a teacher uploading your students' work to Wikipedia in the form of new articles. Apart from the fact that this is causing extensive work for other editors who have to subsequently review and clean up the poor quality articles, this more importantly constitutes a rather serious copyright problem. If you are not the author or creator of the material you are uploading, then this is a copyright violation, and you need to stop immediately. If you are teaching students and you are encouraging them to create material for Wikipedia, you should first read the guidelines at Wikipedia:Student assignments thoroughly yourself, get your students to make sure they also fully understand the guidelines and Wikipedia policies, and then get them to create their own individual accounts and upload the material themselves. While I can understand that Wikipedia may seem like a great way to get students to practise their English in public, that's not what Wikipedia is intended for, and if they are Japanese natives, they may be able to contribute more constructively on the Japanese language Wikipedia. Sorry to sound harsh, but feel free to drop me a line if you still have any questions. --DAJF (talk) 03:27, 12 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you DAJF and forgive the belated response. I will keep this in mind and I will no longer upload their articles. This is the first time I have done this, and I have learned quite a bit. Had not realize there was a Student assignments wiki. Sandbox looks like the way to go. Forgive the troubles caused and will be more careful in the future. What is interesting is that some of the topics that are on Japanese Wikipedia are not considered valuable on the English Wikipedia. This is hard for me to comprehend. Also, I am not sure why non-English sources are considered unreliable, especially when the information is often a primary source or is more detailed and actually more reliable. I feel that some of the judgement of some the others editors in this matter is a bit hasty and biased Kyodaiteeter (talk) 06:18, 28 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
