AOL

Don't worry, I had reverted an edit where someone claimed that AOL made zero income. It was just coincidence that you had edited the page at the same time. :: Colin Keigher (Talk) 19:03, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

WP:LGBT Coordinator Election Notice

This is just a quick, automated note to let you know that there is an election being conducted over the next 7 days for the position of "Coordinator" for the LGBT WikiProject. Your participation is requested. -- SatyrTN (talk · contribs) |}

HELP!

Please visit the NAMBLA article talk page Talk:North_American_Man/Boy_Love_Association#categories_again and voice your disgust at NAMBLA being included as an LGBT organisation. Alternatively, if you believe that this is indeed an LGBT organisation, then you're welcome to voice that opinion. Either way, discussion is needed!Enzedbrit 21:12, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Barrowman

Despite the risque title, my link was an actual article, and not vandalism. I think it's better than the previous article, as it gives more context to what actually happened. --Silvestris 21:10, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Apologies for removing it, I made assumptions based on the title. -- Ash 10:13, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Joxquiz

The article Joxquiz has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki 16:15, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

It's a reference to a word someone made up when discussing Scrabble. The fact that it was mentioned once in a journal article doesn't establish that the word itself is notable or in general use. Even if it was, it would be better for Wiktionary than here. NawlinWiki 16:25, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

I've taken your advice and moved it to Wiktionary. Ash 16:36, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

"Vandalism warning"

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Please note, if you want to give someone a vandalism warning, you need to quote the page you think they have vandalized and you need to sign it, as I did on your talk page User:91.125.38.104 when I put up a polite first level warning. How sad that you feel the need to be petty by putting this last warning on my talk page. -- Ash 17:46, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, we must insist that you assume good faith while interacting with other editors. Carn Brea and Harry potter car

Unfortunately, user:Tony Sidaway has removed the article about the car again!

I have requested that we set up some kind of vote to keep or retain, but he has refused this, as he said that it is trivia, and has no place on the Carn Brea article.

I strongly disagree with this, as I feel that is very relevant, and not mere trivia. However, I do not know how to set up a vote to keep or retain myself.

Tinminer 13:05, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Quote from Tony Sidaway's talk pages:

13 Carn Brea

Harry Potter car & the South West Film Studios.

The fact that Harry Potter's car (or, more correctly, the Ford Anglia used in the film 'Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets') is a relevant fact about the hill, as the hill has long had so called properties about turning up missing artefacts throughout history. The car was stolen from the film studios, which are visible from the hill itself.

The car later turned up on the hill a week later.

Clearly it was some kind of prank, but due to the enormous global popularity of the Harry Potter films and books, this fact is of importance and not trivia.

You may not like Harry Potter, but you cannot deny its popularity.

Suggest we put this to the vote.

Tinminer 10:10, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

We don't decide matters like this on Wikipedia with votes. The fact is relevant to the car (I believe it already has an article) but of supreme irrelevance to the location. The car had to be dumped somewhere. --Tony Sidaway 10:20, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Hammam

Please keep an eye on Hammam. After a rather inept attempt to un-merge Turkish bath, user:Vtbproject (who I assume is Malcolm Shifrin) is now trying to delete a section from Hammam with the ridiculous claim that it is his copyright. -- RHaworth 14:12, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Carn Brea

Hi, I was fascinated to read of your childhood exploration of the Carn - would you or any of your family have photos of the tunels? Would make an excellent additon to Commons. DuncanHill 12:10, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Afraid not. The next time I'm down (prob. October) I'll try and hunt down the entrance to Smugglers' Cave again and take a photo of it. I'll also experiment with my GPS and make a note of detailed coordinates. Most tourists would never find it as it is in a dip away from the bridle path and tricky to find buried in the gorse. After even getting permission from the editor of the magazine, it's just to complex to make everyone happy. I give up! Ash 21:15, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:AOL Broadband logo.jpg

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:AOL Broadband logo.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:36, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Qx-international-jan06.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Qx-international-jan06.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:58, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

It all seems a bit mad when even an image of the magazine cover on page only about the magazine gets challenged for fair use. From now on I'm not bothered, these endless wrangles about copyright are killing WP and I do not have the energy or time to deal with it. Ash (talk) 23:17, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
