Welcome!

Hello, Arxivist, and welcome to Wikipedia! While efforts to improve Wikipedia are always welcome, unfortunately your contributions are not written in English that is good enough to be useful. You appear to be more familiar with Ukrainian; did you know there is a Ukrainian Wikipedia? You may prefer to contribute there instead. In any case, welcome to the project, and thank you for your efforts! RA0808 talkcontribs 21:40, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello Arxivist, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Sharps Pixley have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. The material was substantially copied from this promotional dross written by someone connected to the company. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:25, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Justlettersandnumbers:! I do not know how to replace standard phrases. I tried to rewrite it in my own words, but you said it was copyright. Plus I used the book as a source. As an example, I supplemented the article on the scheme of the article BitGold Why can't I use such an enumeration as in this article? Same approach? If possible, help. Since I still do not know enough English, perhaps some literary forms (synonyms) are more difficult for me. --Arxivist (talk) 21:40, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Arxivist! What you did was to copy-paste great chunks of material directly from this page into our article. That is copyright violation, and is just not permitted here. If – in any article – you have good sources (which that is not!), but are not confident about writing fresh content in your own words, your best course is probably to make a request on the talk-page, providing either a link to the sources, or brief quotations from them, and explaining what content could be added based on them. If there's anything that isn't clear to you about this, do please ask! Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:57, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Justlettersandnumbers: Thanks very much!

I took into account your comments and updated an article in my own words. Check, please. All right now?

p.s. I put the logo under the templates PD-textlogo and Trademark. I initially forgot that the company logo needs these templates.--Arxivist (talk) 22:38, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Arxivist, your recent changes were free of any copyright problem that I could see. I'm afraid I've undone most of them, though, for reasons that I hope are clear from the edit summaries I left. But if not, as before, do please ask (here is fine). Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:12, 6 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Andrew Newman (developer)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Andrew Newman (developer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. JAH2k (talk) 15:30, 14 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi @JAH2k:! I would like to keep the material for further refinement. Could you help with the completion of the article? --Arxivist (talk) 15:44, 14 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest policy

edit

  Hello, Arxivist. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --Ronz (talk) 17:35, 18 March 2019 (UTC) Hello @Ronz:!Reply

Thanks for the information. The wording is really interesting. But rather, I left the Ukrainian Wikipedia to spend my strength in learning English on English Wikipedia. Thanks! --Arxivist (talk) 18:09, 18 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
I've no experience with Ukrainian Wikipedia, but I'm guessing the differences are huge.
You say you are a publicist. I've only looked at a few of your edits, but they look like they're coming from a publicist with a COI. --Ronz (talk) 18:26, 18 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! @Ronz:! I try to write in a neutral style. I don't write in PR. Do you recommend that I translate meaningful articles instead of creating it? --Arxivist (talk) 18:38, 18 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
As I said, I've only looked at a few of your edits. The use of poor, promotional sources is what initially caught my attention. --Ronz (talk) 19:05, 18 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but I just don't see how he's notable by our standards. I'm also really curious as to why you chose to write about him. Remembering as I do the very promotional content you added to Sharps Pixley, I'm just going to ask you straight out: are you being paid to edit here? If so, there are various obligatory steps you must take, which I can explain to you. Please answer this question before you edit elsewhere. Keelan Leyser moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Keelan Leyser, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published (it appears to be sourced almost entirely to YouTube and IMDb). It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). It also appears to have been created for financial reward in violation of our WPTerms of Use.

I've moved your page to draft space (with a prefix of Draft: before the article title) where you can work on it with minimal disruption. Once you have made an appropriate paid editor disclosure and feel that the page meets our notability and neutrality requirements, and is thus ready for mainspace, please submit it using the Articles for Creation template on the page. An article you recently created, Kelvin Leung, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published.
