Raju bhavsar

Hey hi thanks for helping me in my page Raju Bhavsar but why it is not showing in Google yet Vishal 11:39, 6 December 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vishalttplayer (talkcontribs)

Hi User:Vishalttplayer, welcome to Wikipedia
Firstly, please sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp.
As for your question, articles do not show in Google, or other search engines, until they have been reviewed by an article reviewer. This can take several weeks, as there is a large backlog (currently 4392 articles). There is nothing to do but wait - although you can carry on improving your article to try and ensure that, when it is reviewed, it is approved.
Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 11:49, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi I think you are a professional Wikipedia editor ..I don't know much about editing ,so I don't got you signed all post on talk page...also please tell me how can I add image in Wikipedia ..please give me your WhatsApp no. Vishal 13:09, 6 December 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vishalttplayer (talkcontribs)

Hi Vishalttplayer - you didn't sign your last post, did you? and, no, I am not a professional Wikipedia editor - we don't get paid for this.
Images can be one of the most complicated things on Wikipedia - Although there are a few exceptions, unless you took the photo yourself, the image is probably copyright, so cannot be used in our articles. Some editors seem to think that if they copy an image from a website or magazine that is their "own work", but it isn't and such images will almost certainly be deleted.
Please see Wikipedia:Uploading images for the official guidance, although User:Yunshui/Images for beginners is easier to understand.
Finally, I do not use WhatsApp, any social media, or any other off-Wikipedia contacts, as I believe discussions should be open and on the record. - Arjayay (talk) 14:20, 6 December 2018 (UTC),

I still don't know what do you mean by sign in your post please give me your contact no. If you are from india .I want to know many things like citation ,infoboxes and categorised ..please dear Vishal 21:25, 6 December 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vishalttplayer (talkcontribs)

Vishalttplayer - As explained above, for a signature and a timestamp you put 4 tildes ~~~~ at the end of your message.
Alternatively you can click the squiggle symbol on one of the edit window buttons; it depends which edit window you are using, but on most it is to the right of B and I
As for my contact number, as explained above, I do not use any off-Wikipedia contacts, as I believe discussions should be open and on the record.

Why you have rolled back my changes

Hi. Why have you rolled back my changes to sambhaji page? Ajitgore26 (talk) 17:21, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Ajitgore26 - this section has repeatedly been deleted, which is why the page has been semi-protected.
Please see the top of the Talk:Sambhaji page - especially - Q: Why does it say "addiction to sensual pleasures"? I do not like that! for the explanation - Arjayay (talk) 17:26, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

But if the contents are wrong and there are proofs

Hi, but if the content is wrong and there are proofs in various books then why are you not deleting that information? Ajitgore26 (talk) 17:31, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

Serious concern about Sambhaji page

Hi,

I tried to edit an article on the wiki page of Sambhaji. This is really shameful that wrong information has been written to defame sambhaji maharaj. He is like god for maratha community and so is for all other communities. Even if I try to modify the information youthe administrators are removing it even with proper reference. All the information in english literature is not correct, you will have to read marathi literature for that. Some writers who are biased to brahmins have intentionally written bad things about sambhaji maharaj. If these administrators are not going to remove these contents, I am going to officially launch a police complaint against this website with the support of all the people who all feel that this information is wrong. Ajitgore26 (talk) 18:01, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

Re: Engvar

Regarding your reversion on George Harrison, the guideline you linked (specifically, MOS:US) states that both "US" and "U.S." may be used, as long as they are used consistently. "US" is only mandatory when used alongside "UK" or "USSR", which are never punctuated. If you like to keep the original form just becuase (WP:STATUSQUO), obviously I can't disagree with you on that. :-) Regards. Lordtobi () 21:22, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

Stuart Pankin

I just added a source just like you said, just hope the source covers it or if it's relatable enough to be a source. I apologize of the whole situation by the way, I just don't like seeing info removed over and over again. But your still right, it's best to add and find evidence/sources to settle it instead of reverting it back and fourth over and over. You can remove this message if you want after, in just letting you know I'm sorry. 2600:1000:B02C:90C6:CDBE:5125:5160:638B (talk) 13:57, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

dear friend you said my contribution to a page is spam - i find it very offensive- can you please explain why did you say that and remove my contribution? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dos games master (talkcontribs) 13:47, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Dos games master
Firstly, please do not vandalize pages, as you did to this page, with multiple repetitive additions inside other people's posts.
Secondly, please put new posts at the bottom of the page, and use a relevant title (click "Add topic" if you don't know how to do that).
Thirdly, please sign all posts on talk pages with four tildes i.e. ~~~~ which will add your signatute, date and time.
Finally, I labelled your additions at Cheeky Mouse as spam, because that is what it was, a promotional link to an external web-site.
I was not the only person to delete it for that reason, and you received a final warning, from another editor, which I see you have deleted, so there is no doubt that you have read it, and ignored it. I have, therefore, removed this spam yet again. Although I could ask for you to be blocked, I have issued another final warning, but will request this if you add any more spam to any articles. - Arjayay (talk) 09:31, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Merry Merry

  Happy Christmas!
Hello Arjayay,
Early in A Child's Christmas in Wales the young Dylan and his friend Jim Prothero witness smoke pouring from Jim's home. After the conflagration has been extinguished Dylan writes that

Nobody could have had a noisier Christmas Eve. And when the firemen turned off the hose and were standing in the wet, smoky room, Jim's Aunt, Miss. Prothero, came downstairs and peered in at them. Jim and I waited, very quietly, to hear what she would say to them. She said the right thing, always. She looked at the three tall firemen in their shining helmets, standing among the smoke and cinders and dissolving snowballs, and she said, "Would you like anything to read?"

My thanks to you for your efforts to keep the 'pedia readable in case the firemen chose one of our articles :-) Best wishes to you and yours and happy editing in 2019. MarnetteD|Talk 19:16, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Purbayan Midya The box office collection of 48.63 crore given in the infobox, is the same figure as that given in the cited source here[1] - what is "wrong" about that? - Arjayay (talk) 15:12, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

Purbayan Midya You would need a citation to disprove the reference used in the article - and even then we would probably keep both, as it is not up to us to decide who is "right" - especially as almost none of the figures for Indian films are based on verifiable facts - Arjayay (talk) 15:15, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

As you can see at the OO9 article, I am not the only editor removing these links to sales sites - Wikipedia is an encyclopedia - not a sales directory - please stop adding these adverts before you are blocked - thank you - Arjayay (talk) 10:52, 29 December 2018 (UTC)

Sir Francis Drake Association

Thank you for helping with the corrections and improvements you've made in articles I've recently begun: William Ralganal Benson and Mary Knight Benson. I have recently finished a recently written book on the Sir Francis Drake Association, a hoax organization which stole a fortune of treasure from innocent people many decades ago. I've also found a news journal which reported on the matter, so I would like to write an article about it, too.

However, there is already an article about the Sir Francis Drake Association, two legitimate organizations. This article also needs attention as it is about two separate organizations, one historical and no longer functioning. The other is active, yet maybe not appropriate for inclusion in Wikipedia as the edits seem to be by a member of the organization who uses the organization website as citation. I have not really found any reliable sources for the inclusion of the active organization.

So, before I start the article, I would like to know how to approach it. Considering the existence of the current article , I really do not know if the false Sir Francis Drake Association organization should partially replace, fully replace, or simply add to the current article. Or is there another alternative? I do wish to know your opinion, and I appreciate any direction you can provide to me on this matter.Hu Nhu (talk) 23:37, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

I have been considering this article idea, and I believe the idea may work best as an article about the Oscar Hartzell, the perpetrator.Hu Nhu (talk) 16:58, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi Hu Nhu thanks for your question, and apologies for the delay in replying.
I was going to start by saying please do not add to the existing article, as our articles are about individual subjects, but as you pointed out the Sir Francis Drake Association page already covers two different subjects. This needs resolving, and would only be made worse by adding a third, unrelated, subject.
Normally such problems are dealt with by disambiguation so your page might be Sir Francis Drake Association (hoax) and the others Sir Francis Drake Association (1914-49) and Sir Francis Drake Association (2017) or similar titles, whilst there would be a Sir Francis Drake Association (disambiguation) pge which would list all three articles, so readers could find the one they are looking for.
I agree that the current organization is not well referenced, but I suggest you leave this to another editor, as it could be seen that you are trying to "clear the way" for your article to be the primary subject.
I assume you are aware that we already have an article on Oscar Hartzell and it may be better to amplify that article, rather than start a new one, just on that hoax, as there would be considerable overlap, and others might decide to merge the two articles.
One final comment; when basing an article on the subject of a book, it is important that you avoid plagiarizing the book, or including sections that could be seen as a copyright violation. Presumably, in addition to the news journal you have found, the book cites other sources, which you should also try to track down.
Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 17:44, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
Thank you so much, Arjayay; I find no delay in your reply and consider it quite timely. I think it is probably best to write another article I've considered. I appreciate the information and will leave the Drake Association article alone. Perhaps someone else will attend to the problems with the article.Hu Nhu (talk) 21:09, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

All information in Wikipedia should be supported by citations to reliable, independent, sources. If you wish to re-add the information, please make sure that you add such a citation

actually, I'm new to the wiki but experienced in blogs and contributions. I think that links can be added for reference to the mentioned cuisine (in this case) and internal wiki links are not available for that, so to give the reference for that, I gave ext. link to the item. Ashish16200216 (talk) 05:11, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Ashish16200216 - I'm afraid that my comments may seem negative, but Wikipedia has many policies and guidelines, that a new editor cannot be expected to know.
We do not include External links in the bodytext of articles, furthermore, your addition was to the lead section of that article, whereas the lead should only be a summary of what the main body of the article states.
What you added was trivia, not appropriate to a featured article covering such a broad subject as Hyderabad - we have a specific article on Hyderabadi cuisine, but before you add it to that article, please note that, as explained at WP:NOTRECIPE:-
While Wikipedia has descriptions of people, places and things, an article should not read like a "how-to" style owner's manual, cookbook …. . This includes …. recipes.
Apologies for the lecturing style - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 11:28, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

No subject

Dear Arjayay, Just now I saw that you had written to me and given me a warning, because I had added information to Chaz Jankel´s page. I don´t know if THIS is the place to write to/contact you, I have looked for somewhere to write but to me it seems rather unclear. So I hope you will see this message and come back to me. Please tell me WHERE I am supposed to write, since I cannot find that important information. I have sent money to Wikipedia before, but I think it´s such an amazing source of information on the internet. But I had not created a username before. I sis this now, because maybe that is the only way to be able to write to you? So, let me tell you, the additions to Chaz Jankel´s page were made by me because we were married for several years and have a son Tao Hemberg Jankel. But I noticed last night that he has forgotten to honour both his sons under his information on his personal life. That is very important as I am sure you understand. I filled in the missing information and I am the most reliable source, as his first wife. I can send you proof of our marriage AND our divorce if you need it. I also corrected a date in his text, of when we moved to Los Angeles, it was 1988 and not 1986. This is very typical of Chaz, to get the dates wrong. I know he´d be grateful to me for helping him out here. We are in good contact and have a good relationship as friends. Please come back to me, Arjayay - and I apologise if I have written this text to you in the wrong place. You need to help me out as I previously wrote, by telling me WHERE I am supposed to write to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Catharina Hemberg (talkcontribs) 14:49, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Petta plot

Hello brother, can you please remove petta plot from the page ? Its just released yesterday and lota of people are yet to watch the movie, pls dont spoil the fun for them. Its a humble request ! Srinie er (talk) 13:34, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

I worked as associate director in this movie, pls consider this humble request

Srinie er (talk) 13:36, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi Srinie er Thanks for your post.
It would be against Wikipedia policies and guidelines to remove the plot, as Wikipedia is WP:NOTCENSORED, and we have specific rules about Spoliers, specifically
"It is not acceptable to delete information from an article because you think it spoils the plot."
We used to include "Spoiler warnings", but as explained in SPOILER we stopped doing that in 2007. Sorry, but the plot must stay - Arjayay (talk) 13:45, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

I saw an earlier version of plot which was one paragraph and was not revealing much info. Can you pls revert to that old plot please ?

Srinie er (talk) 13:55, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
No Srinie er, as explained in my edit summary, that short plot was reverted because it was too short. The guideline is at WP:FILMPLOT - plot summaries should be between 400 and 700 words - The one at Petta (film) was cut from 626 words - which was fine - to 146 words - which was far too short. - Arjayay (talk) 13:59, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

Is it possible to atleast not reveal the climax twist please? Srinie er (talk) 14:46, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

Srinie er - I repeat "It is not acceptable to delete information from an article because you think it spoils the plot." - Arjayay (talk) 15:02, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

Stop posting copyrighted content

Refer to page Petta (Film). Refrain from posting copyrighted content. Read Wikipedia section on posting of copyright content of others and also section titled difference between summary and abridgement.

It'd be courteous if you stop outrightly acting without due reading on guidelines. Sreekanthgs (talk) 21:59, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

Sreekanthgs I see you have been temporarily blocked, and the Petta (film) page has increased protection, as I requested.
A plot description does not infringe on the copyright of a film, provided the description is not excessively long. This is why we have a limit of 700 words on plots.
A plot description copied from another source, e.g. a magazine, could be a breach of copyright for that specific description, but not of the film.
Effectively, a plot description is plagiarism, but plagiarism is not a crime, although in certain circumstances, it could be an academic violation.
Finally, the Indian Copy Right Act of 1957, covers copyright, not plagiarism, but even if something did breach that act, as Wikipedia's servers are in the US, Wikipedia's content is covered by US law, not Indian. - Arjayay (talk) 11:05, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi TheTrueGilben - no worries - All wikis have their own rules, but there too many to read before you start editing. When editing a different Wiki, it can help to look at a similar article first. Thanks for your additions on that article in any case - Arjayay (talk) 15:38, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Can you nominate the page "Mikhael (film)" for page protection ? Lots of vandalism and unsourced edits, fan IPs adding exaggerated gross collection and hiding the poor reception of the film by misrepresenting the reviews section. 137.97.144.208 (talk) 18:47, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Hello IP from Thrissur. thanks for your post.
I'm not sure that there is enough vandalism to merit protection at the moment, but if you think there is, you can ask at WP:RPP, you don't need an account to make such a request. However, if you ask too soon, and it is refused, then it will be flagged up that a request has recently been refused, which can make it more difficult to get it protected later. A barnstar for you!

  The Original Barnstar
The history written in the tile "Thirubuvanai" on Wikkipedia is a real story of a freedom fighter who fought against French India Government. But the real historical leader name was totally hidden for political reason. He captured a French Police Station in Thirubuvanai with arms and ruled over a reason about 23.54 sq. miles and formed First French Liberation Government against French Government. Sanwaa (talk) 10:41, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

Request from SANWAA ABOUT REVERTING 'THIRUBUVANAI' IN WIKIPEDIA.

SIR/MADAM,

On 06.04.1954, the three members liberation struggle group Kalitheerthal Kuppam lived headed by S. Narayanasamy took over the Tribuvane Commune(in English: Thirubuvanai Commune) from the French Indian Government and declared independence. The Liberation Government changed the name of the Commune as "Mannadipet Commune". Till now the name is existing with the name of Mannadipet commune. It is not legally binding on the Government of Mannadipet to incorporate the Indian Government agreement with the French Government under the name "Tribune Commune", as the Government headed by Tribuvane headquarters with an area of 23.54 square miles. It's is not legally valid. The Liberation Government came to power from 06.04.1954 to 30.10.1954.

The Liberation Government came to power from 06.04.1954 to 30.10.1954. In the period of the Liberated Government, the government has not been informed of any action of the state. Indian newspapers are afraid to release these messages. The Indian press also reluctantly refrained from releasing news of the governing body of the Mannadipet Government. The media was reluctant to release the Communique by name and change the name of the "LIBERATION GOVERNMENT" and rule against the French state.

As if the Indian media has been reluctant to release the news that the French government has been seized and fired since 06.04.1954, it is as if the modern World WIKIPEDIA NEWS HAS BLOCKED THE ARTICLE written in the title of "THIRUBUVANAI" the present editor.

History of the French India Liberation struggle was reportedly titled "Thirubuvanai", the title of the WikiPedia to inform the public about the hidden history. During the French rule, the name was changed to the Mannadipet Commune and the Liberation Government was in control of the 22 villages that had been held by the Thirupuvanai, Mannadipet and Kalitheerthal Kuppam. No one knows anything to tell any other historical event in the outside world. In the name of the history of the French Liberation War, the news will reach the readers and historians only if they tell the true limit. Historical article in the title titled Thirubuvanai in WikiPedia is a hidden history. There is no reversion in this.

Therefore, it is requested to rewrite(release) the reverted content given in Wikipedia written by Sanwaa. Otherwise, Wikipedia will only be known as a medium that hides history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanwaa (talkcontribs) 02:58, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

You appear to be trying to WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS which is not the purpose of Wikipedia.
Please note that, after my initial deletions, the rest of your additions were removed by User:JJMC89 - a Wikipedia administrator, who felt that the rest of your additions were "inappropriate".
Our Thirubuvanai article is about the village in the union territory of Puducherry, it is not about a claim that there was a "governing body of the Mannadipet Government" news of which was suppressed. If you wish to write an article on that, you should read WP:Your first article and create the article through the articles for creation process. However, you will need to base you article solely on reliable, independent sources, not unsourced claims, self-published sources, or promotional material prepared by one side of the dispute.
Finally, please stop SHOUTING, i.e. writing in block capitals, or trying "blackmail" - Wikipedia reports what reliable, independent, sources have already stated, not what activists wish to promote. - Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 11:43, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Pashtuns wiki Page change religion section,

Hello Arjayay,

I had recently a pending edit on wikipedia with you about wiki/Pashtuns You have sent me a message to discuss this :) I just wanted to discuss and clarify this. Pashtuns are an eastern Iranian ethnic group located in Afghanistan and North western parts of Pakistan (along the border with Afghanistan) During the British Raj, Indian merchants came mostly to Kabul and other city for trade purposes see: Hew McLeod (1997). Sikhism. New York: Penguin Books. p. 251. ISBN 0-14-025260-6. Along with them also Hindus etc. This page that was used as a source to "clarify" the reason why Hindus should have been included in the religion section is not based on anything please see that newspaper page. Yes, Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan are Pashtunized but they are not ethnic Pashtuns. For example you cant count Asian into ethnic English in the UK but you call them British Asians etc etc. But by ethnicity, you cannot call the Sikhs and Hindus Pashtuns. They are Afghans (or Pakistani by nationality) but not ethnic Afghans/Pashtuns.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindki this page is about these "Pashtun" Hindus. They are called Hindki and are speaking Pashto outside but Hindko/Punjabi among themselves. Please read this page its very important. Chisholm, Hugh, ed. (1911). "Hindki" . Encyclopædia Britannica (11th ed.). Cambridge University Press.

and A glossary of the tribes and castes of the Punjab and North-West provinces, compiled by H A Rose, vol II Page 333 Please see the "Hinduism in Afghanistan" page as well You can even go and travel to Afghanistan or western Pakistan and ask a hindu himself whether he is a native Punjabi/hindki haha. I hope you get my point.

The only "Source" the person who made that change about Hinduism in Pashtuns was a random Hindu newspaper as you can see by yourself. thehindum/news/national/tattooed-blue-skinned-hindu-pushtuns-look-back-at-their-roots/article22645932 This is not a legit page to use as a source its not even sourced biased, not to be racist but even the surnames arent Pashtun. . Please look at the pages I gaven for more info ;)

So in short these people are ethnic Hindki/Hindko (so they are an indo-aryan ethnic group part of the Punjabi people) and moved to the region. You can look it up.

But the most clear and best source to use for my argument are found in this book Chisholm, Hugh (ed.). "Hindki". Encyclopædia Britannica (11th ed.). Cambridge University Press. which is sourced in this wiki page as well https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindkowans [1]

I am very open to discuss and hear your arguments if you have :) My apologies for not explaining much during the edit I made, I hope its now clear (my sources and my argument)

Please change it to the change I made (deleting the hindu section) I do not have the power to do that. I have been visiting the Pashtun page for years and this so called info on religion is changed recently because I have never saw it in previous years.

Journal of Asian history, Volumes 35–36. O. Harrassowitz. 2001. Retrieved 2008-08-17. The real opposition to Pashto came, however, from the speakers of Hindko. A large number of Sikhs and Hindus, all speaking Hindko, lived in the cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and had a voice in the legislative assembly, this was often perceived as the non-Muslim opposition to Pashto. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Casperti (talkcontribs) 16:13, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
Casperti - I see this has "moved-on" since my reverting your deletion about 3 hours ago. in simple terms - information from reliable sources cannot be dismissed because you don't like it, and Wikipedia, and any other user-generated source, e.g. wordpress, are not reliable sources. If you wish to discuss this further, please do so at Talk:Pashtuns, where other editors can join in - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 19:14, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

Sorry i made a mistake and thank you very much for your help. Can you let me know if Pastuns love greek-makedonian customs? I read somewhere that this tribe feels progeny of Alexander the Great and dances greek-macedonian dances. I read it in website PONTOSNEWS. It is in greek language but you can translate it in English. The title is " PASTUNS SPEAK GREEK DANCE MACEDONIAN DANCES "

I hope you read it. Then if you want sent me your reply with your opinion.

Thanks you again for your help. I am looking forward to receiving your reply.

Islam in India

Firstly no one put a source there and the article was update so the numbers should be updated you seem not to have taken a look at the history page of the article and said "unsourced" vaguely. Next time try to make sure you look into the history page of the article before reverting, thanks--SharabSalam (talk) 18:36, 3 March 2019 (UTC)

No SharabSalam - it is the WP:BURDEN of anyone adding information to an article to provide the citations to support that information, which you did not. As I said in my second edit summary "Still unsourced - previous bad edits are no excuse" - please do not add further unsourced material to our articles - thank you - Arjayay (talk) 18:40, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Just to make what you did clear is that you removed "unsourced figure" and replaced it with an unsourced figure. The article was updated here with new sources that are reliable. That's why I told you to look in the history of the page before reverting I am not saying "because the figure was unsourced in the first place that means you have no right to question if it changed" as you are trying to imply I am saying that the figure was updated with new sources that seem reliable and I don't think we should reuse the sources again in infobox when they are in the body of the article--SharabSalam (talk) 18:47, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
No, SharabSalam I very clearly did not "replace[d] it with an unsourced figure". In both my deletions, here and here, I just deleted the unsourced information - I did not replace it with anything. I also note that it has since been re-deleted by another editor, for exactly the same reason - Arjayay (talk) 10:21, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Mobeen ur Rehman as explained on your talk page, User talk:Mobeen ur Rehman, every name in such a list of people, needs an article on the English Wikipedia before it can be added.
Although you could write such an article, I assume it would be an WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY which is very strongly discouraged, as you have a clear conflict of interest.
If you ignore the advice, please understand we are NOT interested in who you are, or what you know, ONLY in what reliable, independent, sources have already published about you. - Arjayay (talk) 13:15, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

Miriam Green

Dear Arjayay, I am responding to your message to me on 26 March at 16.03. The article I wrote about myself was a rewrite of a bio uploaded by Dr Alistair Sinclair some years ago, and present on your website for all this time. I simply slightly changed the short bio and then uploaded a much larger number of publications. Each publication (journal article, book chapter or book) was fully referenced as required. Each pubication is publicly available and verifiable. The only papers probably not verifiable are the conference papers listed at the end of my publications. So is the problem that it is I rather than someone else who has uploaded this information? Or is it that I did not follow the correct procedures? I hope you will see that everything I have written, apart possibly from the conference papers at the end, are verifiable. YOu said that I did not provide a verifiable source - I am not sure what this means as each publication is fully sourced. Thank you for your time, Miriam Green — Preceding unsigned comment added by Miriam R Green (talkcontribs) 13:10, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Miriam R Green - thank you for your post, although it appears that others have already answered your questions in my absence.
Firstly, as explained on your talk page, and at the Wikipedia:Teahouse we do not recommend people editing our article about them as it extremely difficult to do from a neutral point of view as they have a clear Conflict of interest.
Secondly, as explained in my edit summary, reverting your changes, and also pointed out at the Teahouse, Wikipedia is not the place to put a resume, as WP:NOTRESUME, or a long list of papers - this list had previously been reduced in October 2013, as Wikipedia is not a publications database.
Thirdly, the article had three references before your edit, all of which you deleted, leaving an article with no references whatsoever. All of the information should cite references to reliable, independent, sources, where it can be checked - this is to try and safeguard the subject of the article from false claims. This is what I referred to as providing a verifiable source.
Finally, please re-read and follow the recommendation in WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY - Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 15:01, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

Daily Press (Virginia)

What the reason you have reverted my note about access from Europe to Daily Press (Virginia)? From Czech (and with other European country proxies) I can see only this message: «Unfortunately, our website is currently unavailable in most European countries. We are engaged on the issue and committed to looking at options that support our full range of digital offerings to the EU market. We continue to identify technical compliance solutions that will provide all readers with our award-winning journalism.» And this is a permanent situation. I can see the Daily Press web-site with Asian and American proxy. So they intentionalу block their site for Europeans, and this is important fact in the context of freedom of information. Algen (talk) 21:06, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Algen - apologies for the delay in replying, but I have been away.
You appear to be reading far too much into the Daily Press (Virginia)'s unavailability. Since the General Data Protection Regulation came into force many companies outside the EU, whose websites might not comply with the requirements of the GDPR, have chosen to make those websites unavailable in EU countries, rather than installing in-house systems and regimes to ensure that they are compliant, or risk being fined for non-compliance.
The companies who have opted-out includes numerous US news sources, particularly the local/smaller ones, for whom the ongoing cost of ensuring compliance would exceed any possible benefit. This is not, therefore, an attempt by the Daily Press (Virginia) to stifle freedom of information, indeed, the General Data Protection Regulation itself, is seen by many people as the "culprit" in restricting the availability of information.
This has been discussed on several occasions on Wikipedia, including here - which was easy for me to find, having contributed. Please also see "Your Teahouse response" 2 sections above, on this page, which provides another option to using proxy-servers - Arjayay (talk) 12:32, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
Arjayay, thank you very much for your comprehensive reply. As a Russian emigrant in Europe I underestimated restrictiveness of European legislative against the background of Russian censorship. It seems the threats to freedom of information in the world are much more serious than I thought. Algen (talk) 11:45, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Edit on Curse LLC Article

I saw that you reverted my edit on the page. I have clearly mentioned the type of edit I did in the article. I can explain it in detail here. First, the typo - There was a typo of two periods at the end of a sentence. Second, redundant information - In the last para it was mentioned twice that Curse Gaming merged with Team Liquid so I removed the one that was not needed and kept the other one. If you still think the edits are not justified then we can discuss it further on the article talk page. Amazomagisto (talk) 14:05, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
