Ilesfay edit 2/6/14

Hi there. I am an Ilesfay employee and am in charge of our Wikipedia page. The edits I made were not a test. They are correct. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eisenma1 (talkcontribs) 18:23, 6 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Really? You are in charge of your company Wikipedia article? Ha! Great. But unfortunately that doesn't exempt you to add unsourced info. anywhere in that article or any other Wikipedia article. However, I will request you to familiarise yourself with Wikipedia policy and guidelines before you make an edit or revert another person's. Thank you! AnupMehra 18:27, 6 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

User Eisenma1 and Ilesfay Technology Group

Hi again. I think your username warning to this user is misplaced, because the username does not resemble the subject of the article they are editing. There are no WP:CORPNAME or WP:ISU issues in this case, so the user's name is fine. The COI warnings are definitely appropriate, though. --Drm310 (talk) 20:33, 6 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Drm310: Even I wasn't not sure of it as the username doesn't include the company name. But it seems there is something wrong with WP:PG. An user admits being an employer of a company and editing behalf of the same. It apparently suggests the notion of paid editing. A particular page related to his/her company has been regularly edited by the username and some ip (could be related to the same user) in favor of the company either by addition of promotional content or removing defamatory content. Paid editing recently have been a hot topic for discussion. Many even experienced editors are either banned or made to explain their stand. There are several examples. I just thought if I let the administrators know a same one. However it all boils down to WP:COI. I personally believe paid editing should be barred. Regards, IndianWikipedian 22:57, 6 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I agree with you, WP:NOPAY is something that should be upheld. However, if there is no clear violation of the username policy, WP:COIN is a more appropriate forum than WP:UAA. Cheers. --Drm310 (talk) 15:18, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Edits to the article "Soka Gakkai"

Hi, I have made some edits to the page of a Japan based organization. The wikipedia page is heavily unbalanced and is likely mostly written by someone with a personal vendetta against the organization. It contains irrelevant information (for this page) making it seem more like a sinister organization (which it is not). It is a registered UN NGO. Many of the contents of the article are highly objectionable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shatrunjaymall (talkcontribs) 03:27, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Shatrunjaymall: Well, you replaced a sourced section with unsourced one. If you find that particular page is not neutral, do not remove but re-write. You are encouraged to make edits to raise the article to meet Wikipedia neutral point of view standard. And please sign your further posts typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. It generates your signature. AnupMehra 03:34, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Re: February 2014

I am so sorry but I don't really think I need to say sorry cause otherwise I choose this name for some reasons: NaLu- an anime ship of mine whom I loved more than life Theatear: Thea is my real name but when I was a child I was always called by my parents heavy which I reffered to it as "heaven"..... Now here in my country/place, it started raining,So when I think of the username, A memory flashed back inside my mind.....Heavy~Heaven..then I looked out the window...The Heaven is crying, Heaven's tears...Theatear.... NaLu + Theatear = NaLuTheatear NaLuTheatear (talk) 11:35, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

The particular tag has been removed now as per explanation. I was confused of the word Theatear similar to Theater. Thanks for the clarification and Welcome to Wikipedia. Regards, AnupMehra 11:40, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Broken url fix

Hi, I tried to fix dead urls on kimbo slice page, but my edit was not accepted. Can you please share the proper format for editing dead urls with different source, but same content? Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sweetoriole (talkcontribs) 00:17, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Sweetoriole: I just visited the page going through your contributions. Please provide a link to the article page now on to assist better. I found that the page Kimbo Slice is temporary semi-protected and all changes made by Ip users and users are subjected to review. You replaced few links apparently dead link, using Wordpress blog contents. Blogs are not considered a reliable source. See, Wikipedia reliable source examples. Find some reliable source and replace all dead links with working ones. See, referencing for beginners. Hope, it does help. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 00:32, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

talk page reply

Hi Anupmehra, Recently you ask me "why removed some sourced material and enternal links" on Roopal Tyagi article. So please first check this diff, the sourced material previously removed by TheRedPenOfDoom, And about Facebook & twitter enternal links, So that is not a verified accounts.

And Television table was added per WP:WHENTABLE, and there is no reason for removing. :-ChanderForYou 13:50, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Chanderforyou: I've no objection over your introduction of table to summarise information in the article. I visited the diff link provided by you. A well sourced content was removed by an editor citing WP:PEACOCK. I guess, it could be better if those lines was re-written instead of removing (What I see there is, minor grammatical error and a little peacock). However, those lines have been re-written and reinstated now. Do I see a WP:SNOWBALL here. Coming back to the point, I left you a message on your talk page related to none of the above, but because you removed a line from the lead (not WP:PEACOCK and well sourced), two links (facebook & twitter) from external sections and made a sentence grammatically incorrect. I did wait apparently 24hrs for your reply before I did reinstate those changes. Taking into consideration your concern over unverified accounts. I find myself somehow agree with you. I'll remove them if not removed yet. I'll request you to raise your further concerns on the article's talk page (I guess it would be a real constructive approach rather than showing a diff link to some other editor months after). I'll additionally request you to be bold when updating the encyclopedia. If you believe reverts done to your edits were not in compliance with WP:PG, raise your voice on article's talk page, simple. Penne

it would be helpfull to read discussion page before contacting me? or accusing me of not leaving comment after edit? i indeed left the comment! Penne is type of pasta while zitti its a baked dish made from bucatiny. simple as that. zitti is not penne and penne is not zitti.50.9.97.53 (talk) 07:46, 11 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

don't you thing it would be wise to wait and give me couple of minutes to responcd (which i did) before accusing me a putting warning nonsense on my page? hold your horses! take a couple of tea. then come back and use civil discussion before acusing anyone of vandalism etc.!?50.9.97.53 (talk) 07:49, 11 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello @50.9.97.53:, Not accusation. Sorry for the template wording but that was the fastest way to let you know that your edit on the article Penne has been undid. It was primarily because of removal of sourced content. If you believe there's something wrong with that article Penne, please cite references to verify the content you are replacing with. Wikipedia doesn't accept original research. If different sources contradict each other then discuss it on article's talk page. Ragards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 07:52, 11 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
first you revert then acusse me. then WITHIN THREE MINUTES , without giving me chance to respond. you revert and acuse me aggain. get a life man! then you wanna talk? case is clear: penne is not zitti. zitti does not belong to penne article. my as well we could ad buccatiny there as well. but that is wrong. none of the stuff removed by me is sourced (in relation to penne) or is even related to penne. i have not use any ridiculous words in the article so you could accuse me out of the bet of vandalism and reverting my edit. that stuff about zitti does not belong there.its simple as that.given your logic we could at article about kitten.because people like penne and cats as well. be productive somwherre else and leave this article alone.you obviusly have no idea about pasta or pasta dishes. so leave it to people who do. its simple as that. 50.9.97.53 (talk) 08:04, 11 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Edits do generally get reverted if they are not in compliance with Wikipedia policy and guidelines. And It is not as simple as that. WP:PROVEIT. Your removal of sourced content is meaningless to this very point to me. As I have been said earlier, Wikipedia doesn't consist original research. The article Penne, says Penne is a type of pasta with cylinder-shaped pieces and later it includes example of Ziti under Descriptions section. It doesn't say, Ziti is a penne but an another type of pasta (Additionally, ziti are long hollow rods which are also smooth in texture...). Anupmehra -Let's talk! 08:12, 11 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
you have little knowledge about pasta.fine by me.but before arguing read your "source" for zitti. where does it relate to penne? nowhere.it does not belong to the article. as you already know this article is about PENNE (smooth or with ridges and diferent sizes as far as mustacolly) but not zitti! .feel free to create new article for zitti. 50.9.97.53 (talk) 08:20, 11 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Nothing to do with knowledge about a particular thing. What I want is, a piece of source. Content from last comment perhaps you did not read, The article Penne, says Penne is a type of pasta with cylinder-shaped pieces and later it includes example of Ziti under Descriptions section. It doesn't say, Ziti is a penne but an another type of pasta (Additionally, ziti are long hollow rods which are also smooth in texture...). Despite discussing it on article's talk page you've chose to involve in an edit war. I've refrained myself from making further edits on that page taking into consideration WP:3RR. You have new message/s Hello. You have a new message at Parul :)'s talk page.

Chrissperl

Just wanted to let you know, his edits were discussed by a group of users and an admin in IRC, with a decision to allow the livecams on the pages as they don't detract from the article, but have the ability to enrich them. If you truly feel it violates WP:ELNO, I won't argue it. Just felt I'd let you know now that you've warned him. Feel free to leave it or feel free to strike the warning with an explanation. Regards --Slazenger (Contact Me) 15:08, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Slazenger: Discussion between group of users and an admin in IRC? So, there's no record of it! However, I'm not sure how the presence of an admin in a discussion influences the discussion. I would prefer discussion related to an article to have on the article's talk page (perhaps that is why talk pages are, to discuss/suggest improvements related to the corresponding article). I guess, WP:ELNO explains better. If he has some objection over my undoing his edit, he would probably leave me a message either on his talk page or mine. I'll him suggest to start a fresh discussion on the article's talk page. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 15:33, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Discussion occurred in #wikipedia-en and it was a discussion I started seeking consensus on what a group of experienced editors thought about the inclusion of these links since they were showing up in our tools repeatedly. He's added them on about three dozen pages so far, hence why it's not on an article talk page. He left me a message regarding your warning on my talk page and I have already instructed him to seek you out in regards to it. --Slazenger (Contact Me) 15:51, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Slazenger: He has re-added that particular EL despite suggestion to read EL. As there is no documented proof of the discussion. I've got some questions unanswered. The user justification how does this particular Live webcam link makes the article better? (WP:COMMONSENSE) If the website or page to which he wants to link includes information that is not yet a part of the article, it could be used as a source for the article, writing something about. Linking to a page that illegally distributes someone else's work might violate WP:COPYLINK. And there's actually many more. I've to revert his edit once again and start a fresh discussion on article's talk page. I see, Links to Live web cams are missing from WP:EL. Perhaps talk page of WP:EL would be an appropriate to start a discussion related to Live webcams. I would request you to be a part there. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 16:12, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sebastien Stella

Anup, Wondering what's up with the Sebastien Stella entry. I'm OK with you removing the section about his early years and training if you have to because you want sources. I've provided substantial sources for the rest of the piece. It simply isn't possible to come up with any more. Obviously, Stella is a notable personality in the US and France and deserves a Wikipedia page. Please do what you can to get this posted. Thanks.Sidbill60 (talk) 20:57, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Sidbill60: I see the article is submitted for creation at AfC and has not been reviewed yet despite it has been as long as 3 weeks. It is just because Articles for creation process is highly backlogged and there are probably around 1700 pending submissions awaiting to get reviewed. He, Sebastien Stella seems quite notable at first instance but I've not analyze the sources yet. Following your request, I'll make some edits there to make it in compliance with Wikipedia policy and guidelines. Unfortunately I've to remove some content from the submission failing Wikipedia verifiability policy. Expect him to be in mainspace till tomorrow. Thank you for your contribution. Hope, you decide to stay and enjoy Wikipedia. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 21:34, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I've place the submission page under review and I'm making required changes in a copy of your submission in my sandbox. I would not replace your submission with mine edited one. I'll let you know once I'm done with the editing. And yeah as you remind me, I need some clarification regarding contents written there. Anupmehra, Thank you for alerting me to my disruptive editing. I apologize for my ignorance in not understanding the difference between editing and challenging an inaccurate statement I found regarding the flag at half-staff at the four locations cited. Only until you contacted me did I realize my "edits" had been reverted after trying several times. To my knowledge, the half-staff statement I found is the stuff of urban legend, i.e. not factual. However, I'll ignore the inaccurate statement and let it go unchallenged. Again, thank you for notifying me of my disruptive editing. Hello @Atomotic: I see, there are already tons of external links linked in the External sections of the article. Wikipedia has quite strict policy related to external links and can be found here. If you think, it is really something rare and should be listed there in the external links section of the article and it, someway helps the article to be better. Indian magicians

Everyone in the list really should have an article establishing they are notable, see WP:PEOPLE. I've removed a couple without and restored someone removed by an IP recently. Dougweller (talk) 11:07, 16 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Dougweller: I guess, Wikipedia doesn't actually establish notability of a person. Although it has its own definition/criteria to consider a person whether notable or not. And, I did not add or remove any name from the list but was surprised a name added by an ip user, is really a magician or just an another attempt to vandalize Wikipedia. I did only add a reference there. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 11:13, 16 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
We use our own criteria of notability to establish whether there should be an article on a subject. This new user doesn't actually understand what they are doing. I don't know of the magician is notable by our criteria at WP:ENTERTAINER or not. Dougweller (talk) 12:20, 16 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I should clarify myself to some extent. I'm saying, there might be a person having significant coverage in the reliable sources but doesn't really have an Wikipedia article (awaiting to be created by someone). Should he be excluded from a list of his genre citing he doesn't have an article? As you said, Everyone in the list really should have an article establishing they are notable. And, sorry if I was not clear earlier. I meant, Wikipedia doesn't actually establish notability of a person but sources. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 12:50, 16 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I understand now. It's a point, although of course you'd need several sources discussing them, etc. What the IP has done isn't the solution, but we probably agree. Thanks. Dougweller (talk) 19:23, 16 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Creating a new article

Hello,

I've been concentrating on enhancing medieval history in the Holy Roman Empire, using German sources translated into English, but there are some incidents that need their own articles so people could understand them more. I wanted to write down what those incidents were and what their backgrounds, parties involved, conclusion and aftermath was, but I haven't even the foggiest idea where to begin. Perhaps you could help me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MontChevalier (talkcontribs) 07:51, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @MontChevalier: Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. Yeah, I would help you getting started with creation of new articles. Well, It could be done two ways. First, Articles for creation process. Here you write an article and submit it to review by some AfC reviewer. Your article will be reviewed here to check its compatibility against Wikipedia policy and guidelines. I've been involved there at AfC as a reviewer and sometimes I still do. So, you can let me know when you do submit. Second way is, to create an article directly into articles mainspace. It is kind of shortcut or say benefit of having registered on Wikipedia. If you believe you're all ready to create an article on a subject (notable enough as per notability guideline and have sources enough to establish notability), just create it. However, I would like to let you know that in first process, if you article doesn't satisfy Wikipedia policy and guidelines, it would be declined but you'll still have you article and comments of experienced editors to address the particular areas in order to get it live. In the second process, if your article doesn't satisfy Wikipedia policy and guidelines, it is very likely to be nominated for speedy deletion or WP:Articles for deletion. If you ask me for a choice, I'd suggest the first process Click here to create an article. If there is something left unanswered, let me know please. articles for creation: Andrew Briggs

Hi Anupmehra I have made the changes you have requested (removal of references to Who's Who, which you could not access). Any reason that the page cannot now go live? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MrArmstrong2 (talkcontribs) 16:29, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

@MrArmstrong2: Well, I found some, Early life and education section is now unsourced, hence fails verification. Either cite some source in support of content written there or simply remove it. Similar issues in the Career, Fellowships,..., Awards and honours, and Interests sections. I guess, if submitted for review, it'd be declined citing, Improperly sourced article. I notice, there are some external links listed in the External links section of the submission, I wonder if these could help you to establish verifiability of the present content of the submission. You need to cite them in the body of the article. Citations help to verify the reliable sources on which an article is based. In short, Andrew Briggs is notable, from my point of view. But the proposed article for creation contains a large portion of unsourced claims. You just need to address the verifiability issue. Hope, it does help. Ankita Makwana

Hi Anupmehra, thank you for your comment on Ankita Makwana. I now added a few links I could find. I also have newspaper articles in electronic formate as sources and pictures which will enhance the entry of Ankita Makwana. Can you please guide me on how I should go about it? I would really appreciate if we could have our Swiss celeb on Wiki too. Thank you and regards, Tanja0081 Tanja0081 (talk) 21:46, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello again, @Tanja0081: Thanks for your contribution to Wikipedia. You can expand the article using those sources. Just cite them in the body of the article following contents you are extracting from a particular source. Do not copy-paste, just re-write them in your words. And please do not include original research as well. By original research I mean, to introduce in the article, lets say P, not mentioned in a source Z. A=B & B=C, then It'd not be A=C on Wikipedia. We prefer writing, source Z says/claims/alleges/etc, A is equal to B and B is equal to C (not A=C as personal opinion). That's it. See, referencing for beginners for how to properly cite a source in the body of the article. Wikipedia always welcomes new contributors and new articles irrespective of any regional/international boundary (satisfying Wikipedia policy and guidelines). You can alternatively leave your sources on the article's talk page and someone else would assist you in the expansion of the article. If there's something else you want answer for. Please let me know. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 22:15, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Anupmehra:, thank you for your kind assistance. I have now provided some additional sources from newspapers. Kindly let me know what more needs to be done? Can I post pictures of Ankita Makwana on the talk page in order to get uploaded? I am working as a writer otherwise, so I cannot follow this article always. But I will try to update it for the next couple of days. Your help is much appreciated, thank you once again. Kind regards Tanja0081 (talk) 08:33, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Tanja0081: Thank you for your kind words. I see, there are some more sources cited in the body of the article. Thanks for that. I guess, they would be helpful verifying content of the article (I've not checked them yet). And yeah you can add pictures of her to her article. For this purpose you are required to upload an image first at Commons:Special:UploadWizard. Upload the image, if successful, it would result in a file name something alike, File:Ankita_Makwana.jpg. Just place this (File:Ankita_Makwana.jpg) in the article, it'll be showing the respective picture in the article. Be bold while updating Wikipedia, If something goes wrong, there are fellow experienced editors who will correct it in no time. Feel free to ask me more questions. Hi @Anupmehra:, Thank you for your on-going support. The pictures I found from websites or her FB page. Can I still upload them if I didn't take them myself? As I don't know her or anyone near her I cannot ask her. What do you suggest? Thank you! I hope this page will stay? I am planning to write my next article about a Swiss personailty and hope to count on your support there as well. Best regards Tanja0081 (talk) 18:39, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello again, @Tanja0081:I'm sorry but you can not really use her photo downloading from her Facebook page on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is kind of strict on copyright violation. You must submit to the source/origin of the image and the copyright status. You can search internet (Flickr, Photobucket, etc) for her images published under a licence which facilitates anyone to use the particular one. However, there is a policy related to the use of non-free copyright protected images but you are expected to give rationale how does the particular image make the article better. Why the particular article can not go without images (kind of strict as well, eh!). The summary is, you've to find copyright free images. Sometimes asking the owner of the images granting rights to use the image, works. I recently wrote an email asking Indian actress "Kanishka Soni" to grant me permission to use her images on Wikipedia in her article (Kanishka Soni). It worked! Lucky, I am. Well, the article will not be deleted asserting the lack of images. Once notability established, it remains forever. And not worth saying, I'd be happy to help you (similar to Vodafone customer care dialogue? Well, I didn't mean to copy them). Feel free to leave me message here at any moment you find yourself stuck on Wikipedia.

@Tanja0081: Wow! That's really great. Hi-five! Just forward that particular mail to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Upload the picture at commons and tag it with {{otrs pending}} template. One thing more, please copy the URL of the file and paste in the email to assist OTRS volunteers to find it. Afterwards, you'll soon receive an email stating permission has been granted and file status would be updated with {{PermissionOTRS}}. Talk:Stereotypes_of_Americans#American_Stereotypes_Of_Others

Hello Anupmehra I am not sure what I am supposed to do to please you here I supplied a reference to the Phineas and Ferb official website - there some of the dialogue I mention is shown. The madagascar reference is to a long list of forum entries by outraged Canadians. I object to the original article - I mentioned this in the talk section - why you allow the article to exist at all I do not know but if it is to exist then it badly needs balance. Many people outside the US feel the problem is quite the reverse that Americans stereotype them. Please escalate this issue so that the article can be reviewed, it is already very partial and written from a strong US perspective, it is biased and does not ask questions like why does the world think America is violent and one answer is that they treat crime as entertainment on low quality television programs which are then exported to cable and satellite stations around the world. Please this is not right - the original document is very political, it is not neutral and does not belong on wiki, I hoped that my section would be allowed to rest until the whole page was hopefully removed on the grounds that it is not a productive article, it will never be written in a real neutral format and it will always attract argument and indignation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.107.37.125 (talk) 11:54, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Anupmehra You classify my use of wiki as a reference for population of the US and China as being circular. I am aware of the wiki definition of a circular reference but surely you do not suggest that wiki is an unreliable guide as to population figures - surely you would agree that population numbers could be reliably referenced from within wiki - its just two numbers! What is the greater challenge to accurate presentation of statistics here? 1. A circular quote from wiki to indicate population of China vs USA in a comment about CO2 and energy consumption ( to normalise to per capita ) 2. leave a comment as it stands which says US is second in consumption to China but fails to mention that the population of China is around four times that of the USA - what is being talked about here is perceptions on the individual and as such stereotypes regards consumption have to be normalised to per capita. I feel I am trying to add balance to a deeply opinionated and personal page and you are not helping me at all. I think you could have allowed this circular reference simply because it is a convenient look up for a simple numeric statistic just a number. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.107.37.125 (talk) 12:04, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello IP, I'll request you to read Wikipedia reliable source examples and no original research. Make improvements accordingly, please. I see, the article is partially well sourced. If there's something must change, then update sources, change information. Feel free to rewrite a line or a section or whole article. Just few things, Content must not be original research and should be written in compliance with Wikipedia neutral point of view and verified by reliable sources. And WP:CIRCULAR says, One can not really use an Wikipedia article as a reference in an another Wikipedia article. It is suggested to better directly use the sources cited in one Wikipedia article to another Wikipedia article. I'll take a look at the talk page and article sometime later. I'm little bit sleepy now. But you can leave me a message here and I'd leave you a reply asap. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 12:16, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello Anupmehra, I have changed the citation for the population values for the US and China. Please do ask that this article is reviewed by a neutral team and that they look at my addition and view it as a counter claim which is made reasonably and really shows why this whole page should be removed - it really is too political to be on wiki. Citations are easy to provide but neutral citations are impossible to define. As I mentioned to you I added my section ( which you removed ) for balance but ideally I would like to challenge the whole article - as a European I find it deeply flawed, the quality in places is very low and it reads like a political testament. I strongly object to it being in wiki - it belongs in a political forum not a neutral and factual wiki - its all about opinion and viewpoint. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.107.37.125 (talk) 12:32, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure what do you exactly mean by neutral citations. Wikipedia just do not include original research (something not published in any reliable source). Wikipedia accepts reliable source citations and We (Wikipedia editors) rewrite those words to bypass copyright violation taking into consideration neutral point of view policy. If the article consists something not mentioned in the citations given, you are free to remove them. Introduce new lines, paragraphs, sections, to article only if you got some source that says the same you are making changes about. If any article is highly positively overwhelmed, it is not a good idea to add some controversy based on nothing or unreliable sources citing urgent need to balance the subject. It is better to make a check to the sources given and rewrite or remove those words. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 19:11, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Feb 23 2014 [User_talk:Sephiroth87]

Anup, thank you for your mention to review WP:MOS. I think you need to check your template though, your template posted that my edit was a test. It wasn't. I intentionally made that revert, because I was unaware of that one aspect of the MOS. Thanks again. Cheers, Sephiroth87 (talk) 18:10, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Sephiroth87: Nope, I do not guess so. You made a revert on my edit without having an idea that the changes it'd be bringing to the article would be not in compliance with some WP:PG. It'd be considered an edit test. If you knew it and still chose to do it, It'd be considered a disruptive editing/an attempt to vandalize Wikipedia. I assume, good faith and left you a edit test note. However, that's just a template to let an editor know that his edit has been undid by some other editor. Feel free to remove it. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 18:41, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Anupmehra: Anup, thank you again for furthering my knowledge of Wikipedia policy. It appears that my personal definition of "test" differs from that of your's or Wikipedia's. In my definition, "Test" means something done to evaluate the results or quality of a thing or action. I want to point out that I certainly did not intend any disruption or vandalism. I'll be more careful in the future. Cheers, Sephiroth87 (talk) 19:45, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Sephiroth87: I'm sorry if I'm being misunderstood. I knew you didn't mean any disruption. Just wanted to let you know that good faith edits has been undid for the MOS cause. That's it. And template as it saves time, comes for this purpose with pre-loaded words, edit-test one was unfortunately lighter one. Happy editing! Anupmehra -Let's talk! 20:00, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I apologize for sounding arrogant and being wrong in my edit summary, I didn't see you included a verification failed notice in the article. But I added a source, however I'm not a great editor so I just put "<ref-/ref>" instead of a detailed reference listing. Darren1988c (talk) 06:14, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Darren1988c: I introduced a {{verification failed}} tag to that particular claim because source cited in the body of the article neither does mention 1982 nor 1984. I'm not sure what do you mean by great editor. We are all same, trying to improve Wikipedia. I see, you left an edit summary that AAA article says so, that's why it should be included in the article BBB. I'll request you to see, WP:CIRCULAR. I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

Speedy deletion declined: Yad Ezra V'Shulamit

Hello Anupmehra, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Yad Ezra V'Shulamit, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: May have initially failed WP:A7; current version now passes this test. Please feel free to challenge the speedy decline, take article to WP:AfD, or any other action you see fit. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 11:12, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Shirt58: Yeah it failed CSD#A7 the moment it was tagged by me for speedy deletion. Only official website supported written like an advertisement self-claimed notabile article did not assert the notion of significance. It seems to partially meeting N:CORP standard now. But still, home of multiple issues. And thanks for the suggestion to review CSD criteria. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 14:53, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ronald Aronson

Dear Anupmehra,I've read your comment about sources and I must admit I'm surprised. It seemed to me that every piece of information was accompanied by a reference indicating its source. I've gone over the guidelines and it seems to me that I've followed them. Would it be possible for you to indicate specific statements in the article still requiring a source? Then I'll be glad to provide them. Otherwise I'm in the dark about where to edit. Thanks very much.Leninmartov (talk) 16:12, 26 February 2014 (UTC):@Leninmartov:Reply

Can you please provide me a link to the article you are concerned about? Anupmehra -Let's talk! 16:20, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, here's a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Ronald_Aronson&oldid=595254662 Leninmartov (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 16:29, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Leninmartov: Thanks for the link. I see, there are many external links in the body of the article as well as some under "References" section. You are required to cite them in the body of the article. CItations help to verify the reliable sources on which an article is based. See, referencing for beginners (apparently same to the decline reason). And I would like to let you know, it is not appropriate to cite an Wikipedia article into other Wikipedia article as a reference (See, WP:CIRCULAR for more details). It is suggested to better directly use the sources listed in one Wikipedia article into some other. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 16:52, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank You

Dear Anupmehra, I see the problems. I thought it was enough to provide references. I'll make sure to put them all in the text. Then I'll correct the references to Wikipedia articles. Then I'll resubmit. Thanks for the detailed comments. Leninmartov (talk) 18:45, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

George Groves

I see you reverted an edit on this page George_Groves_(boxer) about Richie Woodhall's comments on the Froch-Groves fight. Can you clarify why this was reverted? I don't see the issue - Woodhall, who is one of the most well known boxing pundits in the UK, has repeatedly said that he thought Froch would have gone on to win the fight. 158.143.82.199 (talk) 19:04, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Because source doesn't exactly mention what you keep re-adding to the article. Wikipedia doesn't accept original research (See, WP:OR#Synthesis). Anupmehra -Let's talk! 19:07, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
"Re-adding to the article" - That's an incredibly odd statement given I've added it precisely once - and only because he was on national TV last night and explicitly said he thought Froch would have won the fight. If you think it needs rewording or a better source then fine, but it absolutely merits inclusion in the article as at present we have the completely misleading impression that everyone in attendance was in agreement that the decision was wrong/Groves was robbed. 158.143.82.199 (talk) 19:17, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I guess, I undid that edit twice. I may be wrong as I did not actually visited the article. But I can remember reading the source and that doesn't exactly mention the same. You might have watched it on Tv. But Wikipedia would be seeking a piece of source for the purpose of verification. And, yeah you are free to re-introduce the if re-worded to extent source does support for. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 19:23, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ronald Aronson

I have revised all references according to the comments made by Anupmehra. The references have been revised according to the referencing for beginners been

Dear Anupmehra, I responded to your comments concerning the article on Ronald Aronson by placing all references according to the system indicated in references for beginners as you suggested, and then I removed all references to Wikipedia articles. The revised and resubmitted article was then read but not accepted by Aggie80 because of "copyright violations." I asked him to be specific about copyright violations so that I might remove them.

While waiting for his response, I looked for the revised article I submitted. The comment by Aggie80 had included the following:

"If you would like to continue working on the submission, you can find it at Wikiphedia talk:Articles for creation/Ronald Aronson." The URL was: ttps://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Ronald_Aronson&action=edit&redlink=1 So I went there following the instruction: "To edit the submission, click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window." I did that, but all I could find was the message to me typed by Aggie80. And now, after emailing Aggie80 I find that there is no "edit" tab any more. I worry that my original article has been deleted. Can you help?Leninmartov (talk) 17:59, 3 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Leninmartov: Your submission page (Ronald Aronson) has been deleted for copyright violation. Copyright violation occurs when you use copyrighted material, it could be copy-paste of texts or images both from websites that reserve their rights on their materials. See, WP:COPYVIO for more details. Here is what could you do to regain access to your deleted submission. Visit deleting admin talk page and leave him/her a message requesting him to provide you a copy of the deleted submission because you further want to work on it in your userspace. You'll also have to promise to not use copyrighted material. You earlier were unknown of Wikipedia copyright related policies. That's it. If it doesn't help, let me know. I'll do whatever I could. Thank you. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 18:13, 3 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I just heard from Angie80: "Sorry, I can't pull up a copy of the deleted article. The text was closely, if not directly, copied from Aronson Biography18:57, 3 March 2014 (UTC)"
That statement is correct in that portions of the article come from that source. But the source is a website for a film created by Aronson. Isn't that public domain and thus wouldn't using it NOT be a copyright violation?
And second, can you help getting a copy of the deleted article? That version was not saved outside of Wikipedia.
Many thanksLeninmartov (talk) 19:36, 3 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
The submission was first rejected by me because it was improperly sourced including many unreliable and Wikipedia articles as references. Following improvements made, the submission was thoroughly checked by User:Aggie80 against Wikipedia guidelines and was found not suitable for inclusion and eligible for speedy deletion (WP:CSD#G12).
The submission was nothing but simply a copy-paste from here. Well, texts/images from public domain are not subjected to copyright. But I can find a single word asserting that texts is released under public domain. What I guess is, "Aronson" is the copyright holder. And in order to use those texts you are required to submit permission from Aronson to permissions@wikimedia.org.
I'll try to help getting you a copy of your deleted submission. As I'm not an admin, I'm unable to perform this job. I would have to place a request to the deleting admin to retrieve you a copy in your userspace. That's all I could do and would certainly do the same for you. Hello @Laurazaki: Perhaps it is this article (Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/William Stadiem) you are concerned about. The subject seems to be notable. The submission fails verification though. The source cited in the body of the article doesn't actually mention the content of the submission. Citations are meant to verify the sentence it is cited for. Regarding Article : Gorelal Manishi

Hi Anup,

This is regarding the article "Gorelal Manishi" I had submitted for review which you have rejected. It has been rejected previously and that time iwas told to improve the content in such a way that it should not look promotional one and presents a neutral view. related to to the references i have given, the reviewer seemed alright. but you have mentioned that references are not sufficient. in fact I have given as many references as possible from all authenticated links and i really do not have any hard copy reference of newspaper. There is no question about the authenticity of those references, because those links are all from different reliable sources and they are not created by me. Gorelal Manishi was s person who never wanted to come into limelight and kept fighting against corruption and helping people without any fear of life. I just wanted to give him due respect by creating this article, Its my humble request on behalf of other people, that please let us know how to make this article publish, we are trying for past one year and still not able to publish this single article about one true gentleman who served the society forgetting about his own life.

Bancbox page denied 2x

Hi Anupmehra,

I was left a message that the Bancbox page reads like an advertisement. All the information is taken from acceptable sources - can you please inform me what area you think looks promotional so I can fix it?

Thanks so much, Arielle — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.218.199.216 (talk) 08:24, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Consider proving a link to the article further on for quick response. For now I've got it from your talk page. And please login (User:WikiEditorArielle) before you leave a message to someone and sign your posts typing four tildes (~~~~).
Coming to the article (Bancbox}, I find many terms that simply is not in compliance with Wikipedia neutral point of view policy. Terms like, "platform that allows users", "The platform manages $100 million in consumer deposits daily in nearly 200,000 individual accounts", "services by phone support", etc. I see some copyright violations as well. For example, "platform provides payment support for methods like checks, ACH and wire transfers along with credit and debit products" is simply copy-paste from here. "escrow services for equity, debt, and revenue share crowd funding portals; account care services by phone support; and customized reports and training sessions" (another copyright violation) copied from here. " allows users to collect, manage, store, and send money and payments" from here.
The submission is nothing but an assemblage of multiple promotional copyright infringements from multiple sources. The present submission eventually qualifies for speedy deletion as perWP:CSD#G11. You are suggested to fix these before someone nominate it for deletion. Re-write your submission in your words making in compliance with WP:NPOV and press "Re-submit". That's all. Please login (User:Sabrinamagers) before leaving someone messages and sign your posts typing four tildes (~~~~). The submission is declined because it doesn't have enough inline citations to verify the content of the submission. For example, "Early life and musical training", "Career", "Awards and Recognition", "Compositions", "Discography" sections are almost unsourced. You are requested to find and cite sources for all claims likely to be challenged in the article. Articles for creation/Public Market Equivalent

Hello Anupmehra,

Thank you for reviewing my article on the Public Market Equivalent. I've added two sources to the page, namely a reference to a US patent and to a published book. Can you help me by pointing out the places of the articles you think are lacking sources ?

Thank you !

Yoqtan (talk) 08:59, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Yoqtan: All claims likely to be challenged warrants an inline citation. "Objective" and "Methodology" objective sections are completely unsourced. "PME+" requires some more. And I would like to let you know that beside lacking inline citations, the submission doesn't reads encyclopedic. Please see, WP:NPOV and make improvements accordingly before you resubmit.
For example, "While the Long Nickels PME returns an IRR, the Kaplan Schoar PME (or KS-PME) returns a market multiple. It was described in 2005 by Steve Kaplan and Antoinette Schoar" ("Kaplan Schoar PME" section).
You could rewrite it as, "In 2005, Steve Kaplan and Antoinette Schoar described/explained that Long Nickels PME returns an IRR and the Kaplan Schoar PME (or KS-PME) returns a market multiple"
There are several instances which requires to be re-written to read encyclopedic. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 09:16, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Rejected submission "2go Messenger"

Good afternoon

Earlier today you rejected my submission for the article "2go Messenger" citing that it did not use encyclopedic styling, yet it followed the same styling as those of WhatsApp, MXit, Kik Messenger and other similar platforms. Mentioning a lack of proper sources, several high profile sources were used, some of the sources (Gadget) were written by Arthur Goldstuck, a world renowned journalist and analyst, other sources are large media publications. I feel that your rejection was unfair as my article did not contain bias and was well sourced. I also checked and ensured that there were no puff pieces within the article.

Sincerely

Dgui (talk) 13:45, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Dgui: I'll list some instances and citations from the article for better understanding,
(a) "2go Messenger...developed by 2go Interactive CC in Cape Town, South Africa..supports over 2,000 devices, including feature phones, in addition to Android and BlackBerry OS smartphones. Citation 1 Source doesn't even mention the claim. Source is abused to promote the subject.
(b) "10 million people active monthly users across Africa.." Citation 2, Citation 3. Source does only mention 10 million users. "Monthly" comes as an original research additional promotional word.
(c) "Despite any external investment, 2go continued to grow, mainly due to its focus on feature phones...which most African and other emerging mobile markets consists out of." Citation 4. Again, source is abused to promote the subject.
(d) "....as of February 2014, reached over a million downloads." Citation 5 doesn't mention the same. I'm not sure how this info contributes building encyclopedia, though even verified using a reliable source.
(e) "..Android version brought forth many design changes and additions..." Unsourced promotional content.
(f) "...soon expanded to cater for the mass market." Citation 6, Citation 7. Probably an original research what Wikipedia doesn't accept, meant to promote the subject.
(g) "Originally intended as a feature phone exclusive application, versions for Android and BlackBerry OS powered smartphones have also been released." Citation 9 Google play app download link.
(h) "...offers one-on-one chat services in addition to paid-for chat room facilities.." Citation 9, again fails verification. It is a direct link to download the app. and doesn't even mention what it is cited for.
Do you have a word regarding this? I've only cited phrases from modified version of the submission. It was relatively more when I first reviewed the submission. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 16:18, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Anupmehra:

I have ammended the piece to reflect some suggested changes and include direct citations to the mentioned statements. Please note: The Android download link has a screenshot gallery, compare those to those on the ordinary website and see significant design changes. Download numbers are also visible there. The term "active MONTHLY users" is commonly used to describe users of IM services as active users does not indicate frequent recent usage. Download numbers are significant, as displayed in the pages for WhatsApp, WeChat, LINE and more. Also, the piece you reviewed was exactly the same, all I did to the second one you reviewed was change some word into their synonymns. Dgui (talk) 15:17, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello IP, Thanks for your contribution to Wikipedia. You are requested to log in and sign your posts typing four tildes (~~~~).
  • Coming back to the point, your submission page is about your company. As you are a connected contributor, you are requested to read Wikipedia conflict of interest guideline, particularly neutral point of view. I find only "economic times" source having significant coverage of the subject. "Business world" coverage is not substantial. "Yahoo finance" is a dead link. And, I'm unsure about reliability of "Software Advice". However even included, it is not enough to establish notability. See, WP:NCORP for the guideline.
  • Last but not least, notability. Find some more sources independent of the subject that discuss the subject in detail (WP:42).
You can optionally read, WP:Your first article and WP:Writing better articles. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 10:14, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Articles for creation/Kobarweng Or Where is Your Helicopter? (1992)

Hello Anupmehra,

Thanks for reviewing my page. I have modified it since you declined it. Could you please point out some problem sentences for me please? This way I can modify them before I resubmit.

Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johannesdebruycker (talkcontribs) 14:17, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Johannesdebruycker: Looks good. More inline citations. Less external links in the body of the article (should be zero, though. External links should be listed under a separate section called "External links"). Many of the sources are offline, it might result the submission to consume a little more than normal expected time to get reviewed. At some instances, it still reads like an original research. For example in the lead, "The filmproject Kobarweng or Where is Your Helicopter? (1992), was completed during Johan Grimonprez's time". You could re-write it as, "Kobarweng or Where is Your Helicopter? (1992) was a film project completed during Johan Grimonprez's time[..]". "If Kobarweng explores cultural difference through the vehicle of flight,[..]" could be re-written as, "Kobarweng explores cultural difference through the vehicle of flight,[..] or Kobarweng was said to explore cultural difference through the vehicle of flight,[..]", etc. Avoid writing personal opinion. Write what does source discuss about. Articles for Creation process is highly backlogged. You are requested to have patience. And, consider signing your posts typing four tildes (~~~~). Article Submission Declined?

You declined an article on grounds of insufficient citations at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Photinus of Thessalonica

I'm curious what you think would be sufficient. The article contains 7 footnotes of various sources, each of which would meet minimum requirements for WP:RS... and the article is only 3 paragraphs long. 7 WP:RS citations in a stub not only seems sufficient, but seems kind of excessive. ReformedArsenal (talk) 15:16, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

@ReformedArsenal: It doesn't matter how long a paragraph is or many sections in an article, till it does satisfy Wikipedia guidelines.

Photinus was sent to Pope Anastasius II (496 - 498), probably by a supporter of Acasius, to plead his case. This Pope was, however, a moderate and tried to resolve the conflict by allowing the heretic deacon, who had been labelled an Acacian by his predessor Pope Gelasius i, to partake in holy communion. This peace offering did not sway Photinus, but did result in suspicions among certain groups of Christians in the West about the views and opinions of Pope Anastasius.

Hello @Nasrknows: I'm all good. I guess, the same for you. Thanks for asking. Coming to the submission page (GLX), you are concerned about. It is declined because it appears to be a non-notable company. See, Wikipedia notability guideline for companies and organizations. If I summarise the guideline in one line, It would be, "Subject (GLX) requires significant coverage in the secondary, independent and reliable sources. Hope it does help. Thank you! ClioSoft Inc.

Hi Anupmehra, I am writing about the ClioSoft submission from yesterday. I am not sure which citations, if any, are OK and which need to be replaced. The External Links that I had listed at the bottom are not referred to in the text, so I did not use References.

This is also the first thing I have tried to post to Wikipedia, so I may very well have messed up in places. It took me about 4 hours to read all the rules and formatting suggestions and do the post even though all the content was already written.

Could you let me know what items need to be changed? And if I have to insert References, I will need some further explanation. Really did not understand the directions on Wikipedia... Sorry...

Regards, Linda EDAediting (talk) 21:56, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @EDAediting: (aka Linda) : The submission page (ClioSoft Inc.) is lacking inline citations. Citations are used to identify the reliable sources on which an article is based.
  • For example, NY Times (www.nyt.com) published, "ClioSoft’s SOS hardware configuration management (HCM) platform provides an environment for design teams located across geographical boundaries to collaborate on analog, digital and mixed signal designs." We would write it as, "ClioSoft is a SOS hardware configuration management service that provides design teams to collaborate on analog, digital and mixed signal designs worldwide." <ref>www.nyt.com</ref>
  • It works this way, Citation "www.NYt.com" would appear just after the claim made in the article. It'd be analyzed by reviewer to verify the claim.
  • There are some sources in the "External links" section. Cite them in the body of the article. <ref>www.xyz.com</ref> See, WP:REFB for the detailed guideline.
  • I would suggest to re-write the "History" section as prose. It'd be better that way.
That's it. Fix it and re-submit. Happy editing! Anupmehra -Let's talk! 22:23, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Anupmehra. I'll re-write as you suggest and add references. Think we're OK on notability, etc, as various competitors and other industry companies are on Wikipedia: IC Manage, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics EDAediting (talk) 22:36, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hugh Pilkington

Dear Anupmehra, Thanks so much for agreeing to help me with the article on Hugh Pilkington. Let me explain that I am not related to him and never knew him. I got to know some refugees in Australia who were helped by him and I thought it would be good if his good works were more widely known as he is a significant figure in terms of helping refugees from Eastern Africa and also because he left money to the Foundation that is devoted to helping refugees gain education. In terms of my own background, I am an academic and am used to doing research. However, it was very hard to find material about him and hence I had to rely on the sources I cite and which provided the information and facts I use. I am not sure what you mean that it seems like an "advertisement". I know it is very positive about him but quite truthfully I found nothing negative about him and he died relatively young so perhaps he did not have enough time to go bad (joke!). I would really appreciate it if you could make some suggestions as to how I could make it suitable for use by Wikipedia. It may be that having heard what I have said, you might be less inclined to see it as an "advertisement" but rather as a description of a very good man who spent his life helping others. I should also mention that I have not been able to work out how to upload the two photos I have of him,, and which I refer to at the end of my article. Can you tell me how to do this? Also, I am really unsure how to insert the references I cite... If you feel you could easily "fix up" my article, I would be very happy for you to go ahead and do so and in return I would be happy to donate $100 to Wikipedia. Once again, thank you for your assistance and interest in my contribution, and could I also say how much I admire the work of the Wikipedia editors who help make Wikipedia the wonderful institution it is. Best wishes, Ron Witton rwitton@uow.edu.au Rawitton (talk) 05:06, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Rawitton: I re-read the submission page. I would like to draw your attention towards some terms used in the submission not in accordance with Wikipedia neutral point of view policy at first instance as they are unsourced.
  • "...unusually talented British-born educator and philanthropist." Do you have any reliable source that does actually say the same for him, i.e. "unusually talented"? Wikipedia considers it one of the many peacock terms meant to promote the subject.
  • " Hugh’s great-great-great grandfather[..]"
  • "Hugh was a brilliant student."
  • "[..]was the top classics student of the year and won many prizes[clarification needed]." again source please.
There are many instances where the submission reads like it is primarily written to show off the subject. At many instances, it seems to be an assemblage of your personal opinion.
You are requested to re-write the submission as a whole taking into consideration Wikipedia neutral point of view policy.
Beside peacock terms and original research, the submission lacks inline citations. Citations are used to identify the reliable sources on which an article is based. Please cite your sources in the body of the article. For example, A source XYZ says, "Hugh, a philanthropist". Then, write "Hugh is a philanthropist" and then cite XYZ for the verification purpose as, <ref>www.xyz-url.com</ref>. See, WP:REFB for the detailed guideline. Let me know if it is not clear and you need additional help. Regards, Anupmehra -Let's talk! 09:16, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Rejection of Article: Charles Stitch Wong

Thank you for reviewing my article. I have noted that you have mentioned that my article is flagged based on notability.

I went to read up on notability and here's what i got: "Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a passing mention but it need not be the main topic of the source material."

- I have had significant coverage in the references that i have mentioned.

"Reliable" means sources need editorial integrity to allow verifiable evaluation of notability, per the reliable source guideline. Sources may encompass published works in all forms and media, and in any language. Availability of secondary sources covering the subject is a good test for notability."

- The sources i have drawn from (apart from youtube) are reliable as they come from news sources.

"Sources"[2] should be secondary sources, as those provide the most objective evidence of notability. There is no fixed number of sources required since sources vary in quality and depth of coverage, but multiple sources are generally expected.[3] Sources do not have to be available online and do not have to be in English. Multiple publications from the same author or organization are usually regarded as a single source for the purposes of establishing notability."

- while there are some primary sources, i have also included secondary sources

"Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by the article's subject or someone affiliated with it. For example, advertising, press releases, autobiographies, and the subject's website are not considered independent."

- While there are some dependent sources, i have also included sources that are independent. "Presumed" means that significant coverage in reliable sources creates an assumption, not a guarantee, that a subject should be included. A more in-depth discussion might conclude that the topic actually should not have stand-alone article—perhaps because it violates what Wikipedia is not, particularly the rule that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information."

- don't really understand Perhaps you could tell me which part of my article isn't notable/what i need to include in my article. I'm a little confused as to how to remedy this issue.

Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stitchbeatbox (talkcontribs) 05:24, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Stitchbeatbox: Self-published official websites, blogs and youtube are not considered reliable sources and doesn't contribute to the notability of the subject. See, Wikipedia reliable sources examples. By removing all these unreliable sources, the submission would probably be lacking minimum references needed to verify the content of the submission. And one time mention in any secondary, independent source is not substantial enough to establish notability.
Remove unreliable sources. Find some more sources. Write to the extent sources do support for. Re-submit. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 09:32, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dennis Rodman

NBA.com, basketball-reference.com, IMDB.com as well as his official website which are as far as I know all linked to in the article say he is born on May 13 1961, so why do you think an additional <ref> tag citing a reliable source is necessary? |FDMS 11:28, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

@FDMS4: I do not see any reference/s here. However I left a message there, to introduce dob to the article once an editor have access to some reliable source. Consider citing your source in the body of the article for verification purpose. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 11:32, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure whether I understood you correctly, but why do you think that a reference (as a tag instead of existing external links) is necessary in this case? Nothing of the other information in the first paragraph has more reference-tags than the DOB had. I would consider the "challenging" of the DOB by the IP as nothing more than vandalism … |FDMS 11:39, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
@FDMS4:I'll try to be more clear. It was 3 January 1961 earlier and later changed to 3 January 1960 by some IP. I didn't find any source to verify the claim either. I simply removed asking for some reliable source. I assume, there should be a <ref>www.xyz.com</ref> beside the dob either in the lead or in the infobox because WP:PROVEIT. As you say there are already some sources somewhere in the body of the article or in the External links section. I would say, the source is used somewhere else to support some other claims. If it mentions dob of the subject, it should be cited there too as per WP:MINREF. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 11:51, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
The point is that I do not think that Rodman's DOB should be considered as challenged or likely to be challenged, as in my eyes there is no reason for challenging. However, as the article does not fall into my field of interest (I got there via Special:PendingChanges and I started this thread for discussion about appropriate editing behaviour (compared to you I am absolutely inexperienced) rather than the article itself) I am going to let other users deal with his DOB. |FDMS 13:58, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Everything unsourced/improperly sourced/poorly sourced on Wikipedia is likely to be challenged and subjected to deletion, irrespective of the subject. The content must be verified using reliable sources (WP:V). I do not support the idea of "less experienced" and "more experienced". When one is, he is. I would request you to list some of the references you mentioned somewhere above depicting his dob either here or on article's talk page. You can also boldly make changes within article with proper inline citation. Happy editing! Anupmehra -Let's talk! 15:33, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well, I actually do think that I am an experienced contributor (globally I have 150% of your edit count, but that obviously does not matter), but without noting that I think you know what you are doing my comment would have been quite rude (I am here to tell you what appropriate editing behavior is). I have boldly put the DOB back into the article. Someone else already did that ... hours ago. Thanks for your explanations, have a nice evening (I guess night)! |FDMS 18:07, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Kalkpmg: The subject of the submission seems to be notable. But as it is a biography of living person, it requires additional citations for verification. I guess, It'd be easy to find one or two more sources reading the submission page. I would like to let you know that, sources must mention the subject/claims made in article. I see, the ref no. 2 [1] cited twice in the body of the article is the home page of KPMG and it doesn't help to verify anything. If necessary, move similar links to "External links" section rather than in the body of the article. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 08:25, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Regarding My Article "Director Amar Sneh"

Respected Mr. Mehra, The article which was submitted to Wikipedia is created by me after meeting with Mr. Amar Sneh, Who is a popular Writer and Director. Who directed the film Somali Darvish and life time work in theater, televisin and film including the work published in India's prime magazines and Dailies. Mr. Amar Sneh has impressed me by his work and luckily I met him in a seminar organized by Himachal Government. He is a high profile person but very modest, now a days camping in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh for his forthcoming film "Tere Hi Samane". I met him and on many occasions and interviewed him personally. The Materiel put in my article is verified through the articles published in various papers and magazines were shown to me from his personal library and many Art lovers close to Mr. Amar Sneh. I request to your high office if needs any thing regarding my article can be confirmed and relevant material can be provided to authenticate the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ackysuryavanshi (talkcontribs) 07:58, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Ackysuryavanshi: If you see at the top of the submission, there's a box with description why the submission was declined at first place. I've even left a comment to improve the submission. I would repeat them here, Submission is a biography of living person lacking minimum inline citations. I've got the impression that the submission is notable, but it lacks sufficient sources in the submission to establish notability of the subject. What could you do in order to make your submission in compliance with Wikipedia policy and guidelines, nothing but simply find multiple reliable sources wp:independent of the subject that discuss the subject and cite them in the body of the article. See WP:REFB for the guideline. And please sign your further posts typing four tildes. (~~~~). Anupmehra -Let's talk! 08:18, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Jamal Fakhro

Hi @Anupmehra, many thanks for your suggestions...I've beefed up the citations a bit more...the point you made in relation to ref (2)(1)...the firm in Bahrain is actually called KPMG Fakhro, after his surname...his older brother was the founding partner of the firm in Bahrain and he is a legacy partner, hence the name affiliation...I've also added citations to several other news articles and other sources to link the various bits...would be great if you could have a look and suggest the next step forward...

Many thanks for your time and guidance!

I was wondering how did you get yourself a wikipidia page when you have done nothing to be notable. Please let guide me on how I can have one for myself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hemoglobin84 (talkcontribs) 18:07, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

You can have one as well. Click User:Hemoglobin84 and write something about yourself to introduce you to other editors and save the page. It must not be a promotional page.
