Freak (Lana Del Rey song)

  Resolved
Extended content

I don't understand Russian, but a GA in another language Wiki does not mean the song itself is notable. Judging from the content of the Russian wiki, I believe the only notable thing about the song is the music video, which barely does anything to do with the song's significance/structure/lyrics etc. (talk) 01:52, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

, I understand. I was fine with your other Lana Del Rey song redirects, but in this case I think a closer look is necessary. You're welcome to initiate a talk page discussion or post a notability tag, but I didn't think the redirect was obvious given the Russian-language entry. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:54, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
Added a notability tag. If things stalled I may as well bring forth a discussion at AFD. Cheers, (talk) 01:57, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

Equestrian statue of W. H. Harrison

Hey, as you know I just made the page List of public art in Cincinnati and in working on that page, I noticed the page Equestrian statue of William Henry Harrison (Cincinnati), which you created a few months ago. I recently moved it to Equestrian statue of William Henry Harrison, as it appears to be the only equestrian statue of the man I can find, and if not the only one, at least the most notable one. If I'm incorrect or there's an issue with this, please let me know. I'm going to try to significantly expand that page and just wanted to let you know and say good work on the public art pages! Regards, -JJonahJackalope (talk) 22:14, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

JJonahJackalope, No problem! I'm not sure if there are other equestrian statues of Harrison, but seems to be the only one with a Wikipedia article, so works for now! Thanks for the heads up. Big fan of your work on public art articles -- keep it up! ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:24, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

GOCE copy edit of Roman Candle (Portland, Oregon)

Roman Candle (Portland, Oregon)
@Dhtwiki: Thanks again! ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:00, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
A couple of additional comments. I'm ambivalent about having removed "United States" from both this and "Delta Cafe" articles. I know where Portland is, but having the country name there might not hurt for others. However, having the present arrangement of locales in the lead (<neighborhood>, <city>) is better, if US is put at the end (rather than <city>, <neighborhood>, <country>).
In this article only, I was tempted to move the "Closure" subsection of "History" to be its own section after "Reception", because it seemed odd to have reviews of the new menu coming before those of the old. I left it as it was, but, again, but with some ambivalence. Dhtwiki (talk) 19:57, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:WikiProject Björk articles

Extended content

A tag has been placed on Category:WikiProject Björk articles requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! April Fools (song)

Extended content

Hello Jason, I hope all is well with you. I am curious to know if you had any plans to bring the above article to GA status. I see you are the primary contributor, and I am interested in assisting if you had any current intentions. "April Fools" is my favorite Rufus Wainwright song and the music video is a great one. Let me know and thanks, Carbrera (talk) 17:37, 20 February 2021 (UTC).

Carbrera, I would love to collaborate here and co-nominate this article for Good status, if you're interested! There are a few sources on the Talk page to add, and I'm sure there are others as well. What do you say? ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:45, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the ping on the article talk page. Sounds like a plan! I am currently finishing off a future GAN in my sandbox, and then I must work on trying to save an active AfD discussion, but then I should be able to begin work on "April Fools". I'll try to seek out some additional sources in the meantime. I look forward to working with you, Carbrera (talk) 18:11, 20 February 2021 (UTC).
Carbrera, Same! I'm a huge Rufus Wainwright fan, by the way, so open to collaborating on other related articles in the future as well. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:43, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
Sounds good! I have started looking for additional sources this morning. Do you primarily work in the article space or a sandbox when expanding articles? Carbrera (talk) 17:02, 23 February 2021 (UTC).
Carbrera, Main space, but feel free to do what works for you. If you prefer, I can let you have a go at updating as you see fit, then I can follow and tinker once you're done. Looking forward! ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:03, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Carbrera, Glad my pages can be used as a template for others. Feel free to do what works for you! ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:26, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Publicity for April project

Hey, do you think we should try to get more people onboard for wp:420 this year? I didn't ask the EiC if this is suitable, but there's probably still time to write up a blurb for the March Signpost if you were in a mood. ☆ Bri (talk) 18:08, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

Bri, I'll give this some thought. I'd love to see much more participation, but my WikiProject outreach and even WMF blog blurb in the past haven't resulted in much interest, unfortunately. Considering WP:420 spans culture, geography, history, law, medicine, politics, sociology, etc, I'm always surprised more editors don't sign up. --Another Believer (Talk) 18:44, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

WikiCup 2021 March newsletter

Extended content

Round 1 of the competition has finished; it was a high-scoring round with 21 contestants scoring more than 100 points. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2, with 55 contestants qualifying. You will need to finish among the top thirty-two contestants in Round 2 if you are to qualify for Round 3. Our top scorers in Round 1 were:

  •   Epicgenius led the field with a featured article, nine good articles and an assortment of other submissions, specialising on buildings and locations in New York, for a total of 945 points.
  •   Bloom6132 was close behind with 896 points, largely gained from 71 "In the news" items, mostly recent deaths.
  •   ImaginesTigers, who has been editing Wikipedia for less than a year, was in third place with 711 points, much helped by bringing League of Legends to featured article status, exemplifying how bonus points can boost a contestant's score.
  •   Amakuru came next with 708 points, Kigali being another featured article that scored maximum bonus points.
  •   Ktin, new to the WikiCup, was in fifth place with 523 points, garnered from 15 DYKs and 34 "In the news" items.
  •   The Rambling Man scored 511 points, many from featured article candidate reviews and from football related DYKs.
  •   Gog the Mild, last year's runner-up, came next with 498 points, from a featured article and numerous featured article candidate reviews.
  •   Hog Farm, at 452, scored for a featured article, four good articles and a number of reviews.
  •   Le Panini, another newcomer to the WikiCup, scored 438 for a featured article and three good articles.
  •   Lee Vilenski, last year's champion, scored 332 points, from a featured article and various other sport-related topics.

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. In Round 1, contestants achieved eight featured articles, three featured lists and one featured picture, as well as around two hundred DYKs and twenty-seven ITNs. They completed 97 good article reviews, nearly double the 52 good articles they claimed. Contestants also claimed for 135 featured article and featured list candidate reviews. There is no longer a requirement to mention your WikiCup participation when undertaking these reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or something else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Hello:

The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article XLB (Portland, Oregon) has been completed.

Lil-unique1, Can you please stop nominating so many similar articles at once? There's no way editors can work to expand all of these at once... ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:39, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Apologies but they shouldn't exist in the mainspace if they're not notable. That's what WP:DRAFT is for. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 18:42, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Lil-unique1, That's your opinion, but you are not giving editors time to consider by posting your concerns on article talk pages OR at WikiProject RuPaul's Drag Race. Also, by nominating so many pages at once, you're not allowing editors enough time to assess and expand appropriately. Please slow down. I am voting to KEEP all of these entries. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:44, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
To be fair, I had no idea you were involved in all of the I do apologise for that if you think its created a lot of work for you. It's not my opinion - WP:NEPISODE and WP:GNG clearly set the scene for when things are notable. It is also not my opinion that things should be drafted if you're unsure if they're notable or not. I get it it - you're a RPDR fan (I am too) however, page views clearly show these topics aren't searched for by readers and they border too much on WP:FANCRUFT. The parent season pages receive much more coverage and what information isn't already duplicated should be located there until people are ready to work on moving drafts to the mainspace. In the meantime, if there's non-notable articles in the mainspace then it is a risk that they'll get nominated for deletion or to be moved to the userspace until they're ready for creation (if they ever become ready). Wikipedia isn't a content farm... genuinely believe more people reach the information from the season page rather than specific episode page (as page views show). ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 18:55, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
to add, genuinely I'm sorry - I didn't realise were personally involved in all of them. I could have asked on the project page if there were plans to expand them first I suppose :/ ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 19:03, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Lil-unique1, I appreciate your note, truly, but in the future I would recommend bundling nominations because now the same discussion has to be had in 6 different locations. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:45, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Also, page views have nothing to do with notability. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:21, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

No Swan So Fine, Thanks! I think this entry is a great start. I notice you use "series" throughout. If sources use this term, that's no problem, but usually Americans use "season" over "series" for television programs. Otherwise, I think this is a good foundation for editors to build on moving forward. You might post notes at WikiProject Television and WikiProject United States to see if any other editors wish to leave some feedback. Thanks for the note, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:25, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Serpent coaster article

Greetings! I noticed you reverted the recent changes I made to Serpent (roller coaster). It is basically a duplication of what already exists in the primary Six Flags AstroWorld article minus the coaster's specs, which are insignificant. This is a junior coaster, of which hundreds if not thousands exist around the world. Am I missing the justification for preserving the article as opposed to changing to a redirect? Many AfD discussions in the past have resulted in redirect or delete (in fact, there's a similar one now on the chopping block: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Branson Coaster, only that one doesn't have redirect as an option). Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

It's academic since the article was reviewed and promoted to GA but I find the "as of"s that are scattered throughout the article suggest that it needs updating. I tagged one quote in the Reception section because it was unclear what "prize" is being suggested. The Menu section is out-of-date and comes close to sounding like an advertisement. There were a lot of links to common terms that I removed because they were unnecessary in my opinion.

DYK for Chi Chi DeVayne

On 29 April 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Chi Chi DeVayne, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the BBC described Chi Chi DeVayne's lip sync to "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" as "iconic in Drag Race history"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Chi Chi DeVayne. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Chi Chi DeVayne), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

WikiCup 2021 May newsletter

Extended content

The second round of the 2021 WikiCup has now finished; it was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 61 points to advance to Round 3. There were some impressive efforts in the round, with the top eight contestants all scoring more than 400 points. A large number of the points came from the 12 featured articles and the 110 good articles achieved in total by contestants, as well as the 216 good article reviews they performed; the GAN backlog drive and the stay-at-home imperative during the COVID-19 pandemic may have been partially responsible for these impressive figures.

Our top scorers in Round 2 were:

  •   The Rambling Man, with 2963 points from three featured articles, 20 featured article reviews, 37 good articles, 73 good article reviews, as well as 22 DYKs.
  •   Epicgenius, with 1718 points from one featured article, 29 good articles, 16 DYKs and plenty of bonus points.
  •   Bloom6132, with 990 points from 13 DYKs and 64 "In the news" items, mostly recent deaths.
  •   Hog Farm, with 834 points from two featured articles, five good articles, 14 featured article reviews and 15 good article reviews.
  •   Gog the Mild, with 524 points from two featured articles and four featured article reviews.
  •   Lee Vilenski, with 501 points from one featured article, three good articles, six featured article reviews and 25 good article reviews.
  •   Sammi Brie, with 485 points from four good articles, eight good article reviews and 27 DYKs, on US radio and television stations.
  •   Ktin, with 436 points from four good articles, seven DYKs and 11 "In the news" items.

Please remember that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of Round 2 but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in Round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them (except for at the end of each round, when you must claim them before the cut-off date/time). When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Author Requesting a New Article

Extended content

Hello User:Another Believer. I am a COI/paid editor, and I too live in Portland. Earlier this week, I received an email from an author who would like an article on herself. She has written 4 books, and from a cursory Google search, it appears to me she is notable. She identifies as Black, and I was thinking that rather than taking her on as a client, she may be better served by working with a volunteer editor or volunteer project group that is trying to broaden the representation on Wikipedia - more women, more POC, more LGBTQ, etc. I was wondering if you would be interested in working with her, or might know a group or volunteer who would. Then I could connect her with the appropriate people/person to discuss the project. I'm speaking to her on Tuesday and would love to be able to tell her that someone would like to help. Can you give me your thoughts on the above? I'd greatly appreciate it. Best LeepKendall (talk) 22:18, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

LeepKendall, Hello! The first group which comes to mind is WikiProject Women in Red. While there's no guarantee someone would help, I think you and/or her introducing this idea at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women in Red might result in some offers. I'd start by collecting the very best sources with the most in-depth coverage, in order to clearly demonstrate her notability from the start. Another option is to produce a very quick entry in the draft space, something short and simple but which can easily be expanded on by other editors. Other WikiProjects which come to mind: Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies, Wikipedia:WikiProject Women, and Wikipedia:WikiProject Women writers. I'm not sure I want to volunteer to take on a project about an unfamiliar subject, but I hope these spaces are helpful in some way. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:57, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Good Morning Another Believer: Thank you for these recommendations. I appreciate it, and will definitely check them out. Best LeepKendall (talk) 14:40, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave

  Resolved
Extended content

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.

(Side note: I mentioned in my edit summary the source was unreliable. I mistakenly misread the IMDb external link as a citation instead of the Entertainment Tonight article, which is a reliable source. I can't alter edit summaries, but I would have nominated the article regardless of that. ) 51.37.97.190 (talk) 21:06, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

"Lost and Found" (Chris Brown song)

  Resolved

No, there shouldn't, because all the chart positions are fake – check them yourself. Most of the other sources don't mention this song at all. The sock keeps restoring this article full of fake information. Richard3120 (talk) 14:33, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Richard3120, Ah, ok, then feel free to re-redirect. I was not aware. Based on your edit summary I assumed the page was redirect for editor behavior, not content. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:35, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
No problem, perhaps I should have been clearer in my edit summary. But feel free to check it out for yourself – the chart positions are all for another Chris Brown song, "Zero", the composition and lyrics section is largely original research based on two reviews of the album (not the song), and one of the reviews only has one line mentioning the song. And the critical reception section is also fictional – it says Rolling Stone and HipHopDX praised the song but there's no sources from them, the AllMusic review doesn't mention the song at all, and The Boombox just briefly describes the song in an album review... it certainly doesn't make any comment about Brown's vocal abilities or the depth of the lyrics. The one positive quotation comes from a blog that is now inactive. Richard3120 (talk) 14:52, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
Richard3120, I won't bother reading the content and I've already restored the redirect. Thanks again! ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:01, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of East Portland Community Center

  Resolved
Extended content

The article East Portland Community Center has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Portland has 14 community centers, no indication why this generic local center sourced to non-independent city site is notable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
