- This week's voting for TAFI's upcoming weekly collaboration has begun at Week 26 of 2015. Thanks for participating!
Wiki Loves Pride
Glad you noticed that. I would be interested in creating more LGBT-related content, yes. I used to be very active at WP LGBT Studies six years ago. Probably time to do more again.Zigzig20s (talk) 05:32, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Zigzig20s: Great! Your participation and contributions are much appreciated. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:42, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- Let me know if there are specific topics/articles I could cover, particularly in London. I could also try to take a picture of specific LGBT people living here if they agree...Zigzig20s (talk) 05:52, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Zigzig20s: Thanks for offering. You might see if there are sections or topics to expand at LGBT culture in London and then check out its associated categories. I wonder if there are specific establishments (LGBT bars, clubs, businesses, etc.) lacking articles. There is a Tasks page at Wiki Loves Pride, but I don't know if many of them are London-related specifically. Really, any articles created or improved is a great benefit to Wikipedia, so feel free to contribute where you are most interested. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:57, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- This gay Holocaust survivor needs in-line references throughout: Albrecht Becker. Can you please help a bit?Zigzig20s (talk) 23:35, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- I hate to butt in on y'all's conversation, but it would be fabulous if someone could create an article on Caleb Orozco from Belize for pride month. I cannot as I have a conflict of interest. His story recently appeared in the New York Times magazine. [1] I maintain a database on litigation in the Caribbean and can supply sourcing if that is needed. SusunW (talk) 16:45, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
- I don't know if you know this is happening next week. Hoping that everyone remains safe. [2] SusunW (talk) 06:09, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Wiki Loves Pride 2015 notices
I welcome your notice in this edit to get more people to your event. However, that fixed formatting <div style="padding:3em; font-family:'Helvetica Neue',sans-serif; font-size:110%; line-height:1.75;"> is not really appropriate, in my opinion, in a notice that's going out to dozens and dozens of wikiprojects. It basically comes across as shouting. I'd suggest a message in standard format with a relevant image, would be more appropriate for a broadcast message. Stuartyeates (talk) 09:10, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Stuartyeates: Thanks for your feedback. I've already distributed many messages, but I will keep this in mind when/if I send more. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:43, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
I see the editor has been involved in appropriate canvassing, including at WP:RIGHT. As Wikimedia has outreach for LGBT and Feminism interested editors for creation of content, would this editor be supportive of outreach for conservative interested editors for creation of content as well? Why or why not?--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 19:13, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- @RightCowLeftCoast: it's not 100% clear which editor you mean by 'the editor' but I'm certainly a proponent of thematic events and content creation and would welcome a campaign for conservative-interested editors. Stuartyeates (talk) 20:35, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- When I suggested the proposal to WP:BIAS other editors there were completely against such an idea. Can other editors point me in the right direction where such a proposal can be suggested to Wikimedia Foundation?--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 20:43, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- RightCowLeftCoast, editathons, content drives, and meetups are usually community-driven. The Foundation has a grants program for events, which some events organizers utilize. Local Wikimedia chapters often play at least a supporting role. But the impetus almost always comes from a motivated editor or group of editors. The Interior (Talk) 21:12, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) WP:Wikiprojects and events such as Wikipedia:Wiki Loves Pride are pretty much entirely self-organising. What you need is not the approval of WP:BIAS or even Wikipedia:WikiProject Council, but a relatively small number of individuals willing to do the work to make it happen. Start a subpage of WP:RIGHT describing what you want to do and ask people you think might be interested for feedback. Stuartyeates (talk) 21:38, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride - Scottish noticeboard
Hi there! This looks really interesting, and v worthwhile contribution to Wiki. I notice though that you posted on the Scottish noticeboard, and it's no longer in use, you'd be better leaving a message here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Scotland - hope that helps! Best of luck :) Lirazelf (talk) 11:25, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Lirazelf: Thanks for your suggestion! I will definitely post a notice there, too. Thanks for any contributions you may make to this campaign. ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:44, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
Spam
You were previously warned about spamming every possible wikiproject in 2014. Instead of responding to concerns, you've done it again. Why? What compels you to advertise your preferred initiative on every single wikiproject regardless of relevance? Please stop spamming. bobrayner (talk) 22:10, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- LGBT culture and history spans many different fields of study and is relevant to most geographic regions of the world. Participation is not required, but I feel that I have to right to invite others to assist by improving LGBT-related content. I see you've removed some of these invitations, which is also your right to do, though you may be preventing someone who may want to help from knowing about the campaign's existence. ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:18, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
Please sign all those Wikiproject talk messages you recently posted
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you.
Hello, please sign all those Wiki Loves Pride! messages you pumped out. They do not contain dates or signatures, so are breaking the automated talkpage archival bots, since they don't recognize when your message sections were posted -- 70.51.202.183 (talk) 04:47, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Commons category-inline
I see you switched out a commons category-inline I had added on Lewisville Park. Your reasoning? My reasoning for inline when an external references section exists is that it takes up less vertical space, and in articles with a lot of navigation boxes, the right justified commons box tends to get lost. Generic1139 (talk) 20:05, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- I was sort of under the impression that the inline version was only for External links sections in which there are no other links displayed. In this case, it makes sense to have an inline link as opposed to a floating right-aligned box. Feel free to revert, but my personal preference is to use the regular Commons template when possible and to resort to the inline version when there is no other content in the EL section. ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:21, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- I tend to use the -inline version when there is already an external links section, adding it at the top of that section, avoiding adding an external links section only to host it. NRHP articles tend to have a large info box, pushing the floating commons box down past the other external links. Not a major problem either way. Generic1139 (talk) 01:41, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

WikiProject X Newsletter • Issue 4
Hello friends! We have been hard at work these past two months. For this report:
For the first time, we are happy to bring you an exhaustive, comprehensive WikiProject Directory. This directory endeavors to list every single WikiProject on the English Wikipedia, including those that don't participate in article assessment. In constructing the broadest possible definition, we have come up with a list of approximately 2,600 WikiProjects. The directory tracks activity statistics on the WikiProject's pages, and, for where it's available, statistics on the number of articles tracked by the WikiProject and the number of editors active on those articles. Complementing the directory are description pages for each project, listing usernames of people active on the WikiProject pages and the articles in the WikiProject's scope. This will help Wikipedians interested in a subject find each other, whether to seek feedback on an article or to revive an old project. (There is an opt-out option.) We have also come up with listings of related WikiProjects, listing the ten most relevant WikiProjects based on what articles they have in common. We would like to promote WikiProjects as interconnected systems, rather than isolated silos.
A tremendous amount of work went into preparing this directory. WikiProjects do not consistently categorize their pages, meaning we had to develop our own index to match WikiProjects with the articles in their scope. We also had to make some adjustments to how WikiProjects were categorized; indeed, I personally have racked up a few hundred edits re-categorizing WikiProjects. There remains more work to be done to make the WikiProject directory truly useful. In the meantime, take a look and feel free to leave feedback at the WikiProject X talk page.
What have we been working on?
- A new design template—This has been in the works for a while, of course. But our goal is to design something that is useful and cleanly presented on all browsers and at all screen resolutions while working within the confines of what MediaWiki has to offer. Additionally, we are working on designs for the sub-components featured on the main project page.
- A new WikiProject talk page banner in Lua—Work has begun on implementing the WikiProject banner in Lua. The goal is to create a banner template that can be usable by any WikiProject in lieu of having its own template. Work has slowed down for now to focus on higher priority items, but we are interested in your thoughts on how we could go about creating a more useful project banner. We have a draft module on Test Wikipedia, with a demonstration.
- New discussion reports—We have over 4.8 million articles on the English Wikipedia, and almost as many talk pages as well. But what happens when someone posts on a talk page? What if no one is watching that talk page? We are currently testing out a system for an automatically-updating new discussions list, like RFC for WikiProjects. We currently have five test pages up for the WikiProjects on cannabis, cognitive science, evolutionary biology, and Ghana.
- SuggestBot for WikiProjects—We have asked the maintainer of SuggestBot to make some minor adjustments to SuggestBot that will allow it to post regular reports to those WikiProjects that ask for them. Stay tuned!
- Semi-automated article assessment—Using the new revision scoring service and another system currently under development, WikiProjects will be getting a new tool to facilitate the article assessment process by providing article quality/importance predictions for articles yet to be assessed. Aside from helping WikiProjects get through their backlogs, the goal is to help WikiProjects with collecting metrics and triaging their work. Semi-automation of this process will help achieve consistent results and keep the process running smoothly, as automation does on other parts of Wikipedia.
Want us to work on any other tools? Interested in volunteering? Leave a note on our talk page.
The database report which lists WikiProjects according to the number of watchers (i.e., people that have the project on their watchlist), is back! The report stopped being updated a year ago, following the deactivation of the Toolserver, but a replacement report has been generated.
Until next time,

Adele
Hey there! I just wanted to work on List of awards and nominations received by Adele – a list to which you have been a major contributor. I didn't know about the history of the article, and saw that it is a former featured list. I don't know if you are interested or not, but I (also you if interested) want to work on it to make it featured yet again, only if you are okay with it. What say? -- FrankBoy CHITCHAT 12:10, 28 June 2015 (UTC)
- @FrB.TG: Sounds great! Yes, if I recall correctly, the list was promoted to Featured status then later determine to be too short to qualify. I will try to help if I can, though I am working on many other Wikipedia articles/projects at this time. I wish you the best of luck, either way, and thanks for the heads up! ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:18, 28 June 2015 (UTC)
- I made quite a few edits to the list after doing a run-through. I added several "citation needed tags" and improved formatting (caps, links, consistency, etc). On one hand, I think it will take some time to verify that all the information in the list is accurate and up-to-date, but on the other hand I think the list is in pretty good condition overall in terms of referencing. I would definitely make sure the numbers add up and are accurately reflected in the infobox. Once the details are verified and the 'citation needed' tags are removed, this list should be FL-ready! ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:01, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

I have nominated the list for FLC here with you as co-nominator. Please take care of comments (if any) by reviewers if I am not available. Cheers. -- FrankBoy CHITCHAT 10:28, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

- @FrB.TG: Thank you for offering, truly. However, I think I will decline the invitation because I am not familiar with the article or its history. It looks pretty solid, though. Sorry, I do hope to collaborate with you again, but I tend to only promote articles I've worked on. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:37, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- No worries. I can do it alone, but I thought you might be interested. Also, I'm kinda surprised that you're not "familiar" with the subject. Anyways... -- Frankie talk 20:52, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

- I didn't conduct a formal review and leave a vote, but I did review the list, made some edits, and left feedback on the nomination page. Best of luck -- I am sure you will get this list to FL status! Keep up the great work. :) ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:39, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for helping out! I noticed that a lot of the bungalow and American Craftsman articles are short stubs that are NRIS-only or close to it, and since the NRIS doesn't differentiate between bungalow and American Craftsman (even though they're different styles), it probably wouldn't be a good idea to do any more restructuring right now. Neither is really a true subtype of the other (e.g. Chicago bungalows are typically not Craftsman), there's just a lot of overlap. TheCatalyst31 Reaction•Creation 17:07, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- @TheCatalyst31: OK. Well, I will let those who are more familiar with architecture to determine which subcats are appropriate, but I have noticed that some states (such as Oregon) have Bungalow architecture as a subcat of American Craftsman, while others do not. I guess I am just pointing out the inconsistency. I won't worry about restructuring and will just continue creating subcats. Thanks for the feedback! ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:09, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Burnside Burn
Hi Another Believer. Just checking: are you satisfied with the copy edit of Burnside Burn by Matal121, or would you like the request marked as needing a further copy edit? I ask because I noticed several issues with it and I see that you've already made several corrections. Regards, --Stfg (talk) 17:53, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Stfg: Thanks for leaving a note. I don't wish to strain resources, but I think having someone else run through the article would be very helpful. I aways appreciate when GOCE members take time to review an article, but I don't always agree with the changes that are made, like this time. I won't re-submit a second request formally, but of course the more eyes on any article, the better. I have nominated the article for GA status, so it will get reviewed again soon. I certainly wouldn't turn down an offer for a second copy edit, though, especially since it is such a short article. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:58, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

MOS:CAPS and Cannabis
Hallo, you moved at least two articles from xyz (Cannabis) to xyz (cannabis) (eg. White widow (Cannabis) with the subject "caps per MoS", but MOS:CAPS says: "Scientific names including genus and species (sometimes also subspecies, or other infraspecific names) have an initial capital letter for the genus, [...]". Am I missing something? Christian75 (talk) 16:45, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Christian75: This one is somewhat tricky, because "cannabis" does refer to a genus, but it is also a very common term. When most people say "cannabis", they are referring to Cannabis (drug), not Cannabis. I think we should disambiguate accordingly. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:48, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

- @Finetooth: When I first viewed the page, the entries appeared in a single column, hence why I converted to the "div col" template. Did my edit make it so that you now see a single column, when before you saw two? If so, that is very bizarre because we are seeing the opposite. ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:30, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- Yes. I see one column now after your change whereas before I saw two. If I change "30em" to "2", I see two columns again. What do you see when you substitute a "2"? Finetooth (talk) 03:29, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Finetooth: A single column. This is so bizarre. Please, feel free to revert my edit, but my understanding of the template I added is that it automatically converts the text into however many 30em-width columns a user's screen will allow. In other words, someone with a small screen would see a single column, while someone with a very wide screen could see as many as 3 to 5 columns, even more in theory. What is surprising to me, is that you saw 2 columns without my template and I only saw one... my understanding of the command you had included is that it forced text into 2 columns, regardless of screen width. This is why I am surprised I only saw a single column. Oy... ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:34, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- I usually do the templates by imitation (looking at something I like and cloning) without understanding how they work. I therefore have no explanation for this phenomenon. I'll leave your 30ems in there for the nonce and give this some more thought tomorrow. I might see how yours looks on a different computer, for example. Finetooth (talk) 04:09, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I've used Template:Div col many, many times without problems, so this one is throwing me for a loop. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:49, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- I think I've solved the problem. Your div col looked fine on an Android and on a laptop but still not fine on my desktop. I fooled around with the desktop page-view settings, and whammo, the California Women Lawyers lists appear in two columns. Thanks for helping me figure this out. Finetooth (talk) 15:25, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Finetooth: I'm not sure how much I really helped, but glad we are now on the same page, so to speak! :) ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:56, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

True Detective
Indeed, eventually I do plan on creating article for the remaining pages. For the time being, I have enough free time to dedicate on at least one or two episodes, and if things go as plan, most episodes should have their own page by the end of the year. That's probably a bold goal I'm setting for myself considering all things, and yeah it does sometimes get a little overwhelming collecting sources and constructing the article out of them. But I enjoy the payoff usually and it's always a pleasure to contribute to Wiki. :) —DAP388 (talk) 05:13, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
- @DAP388: Glad to hear! Ping me if it would help to collect sources for specific articles. ---Another Believer (Talk) 05:23, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi AB! I don't intend to challenge or question your work, just a simple question – why is the list a good article as it's more of a list (a list of winners of a category) than an "article". Similar articles e.g. Best Concept Music Video and Best Disco Recording are also good, though they are okay as they have not been awarded more than twice. But Best Rap Performance is a list, isn't it? The question is because I'm intending to develop Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance and I am in dilemma whether I submit (when ready) it for GA or FL? -- Frankie talk 13:09, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
- @FrB.TG: Great question, actually. This article was expanded and promoted to Good status before the award was brought back in 2012. The article was promoted in 2011. That is why the first part reads like an article and the second part looks like a list. It is kind of a funny hybrid. I am not sure about its future but for now I think the prose is still worth keeping. Who knows... maybe if the award is around for a long time there will be an article for Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance (1989–1990) and another for 2012 – present. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:53, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

Mammals in art?
Hello, Another Believer. I saw you recently created the category Category:Mammals in art. I'm curious as to what led you to create this category? ---Sluzzelin talk 02:42, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Sluzzelin: Why not? Seemed there were many pages and subcategories in the "Animals in art" category, so I was just trying to do a bit of organization. What are your thoughts or concerns? ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:32, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- Of course it makes sense from a biological-taxonomic point of view. I guess I'd never thought it of it as a animal-category-in-art people would intuitively look for (unlike birds in art, or even fish in art). To make my point by unfair absurdification: I wouldn't expect Category:Placentalia in art either (or Category:Arthropodes in art, as I gratuitously remarked in this edit summary. (I realize beasts in art doesn't work either, but that would be more like birds and fish etc). Anyway, no concerns, just idle curiosity. Thank you! ---Sluzzelin talk 18:39, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
Texas NRHP navboxes
If you know of a navbox for Texas-specific NRHP articles, go and find one. Until then I think I'll restore the ones you have. I wouldn't mind adding infoboxes, but I'll settle for the navboxes for the time being. ----------User:DanTD (talk) 14:43, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Dan. First of all, let me thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia and (I believe) Commons as well. In my opinion, the general NRHP navboxes should not be added to specific listings. My understanding is that, generally, navboxes should be added to articles when that article actually appears in the navbox itself. I could justify a Texas-related NRHP navbox being added, but not the general NRHP navbox, which simply displays links to each state. I am not going to remove all of the navboxes again, but I do disagree with them being displayed. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:57, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- I can understand why you'd justify a Texas-related NRHP navbox too. I'm all for state-specific NRHP navboxes. However, I thought the general ones were still used in states where they don't exist. I didn't see one for Texas, so I used the general one. Now, about the order, I've always had the impression that portals weren't added below navboxes. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 18:30, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- @DanTD: Thanks for responding. I've always seen portal bars at the very bottom of an article, and that is where I have always placed them. Not to say I am right for this reason, but I promoted quite a few articles and lists and Good/Featured status and their portal bars have never been questioned. I'm afraid Wikipedia:Portal simply says: "Within articles, this template is meant to be placed at the bottom of the article in the See also section. If there is no See also section, you can put it in the External links section instead; there is no need to create a new section just to house this template. If there is no External links section either, just put it below the article text in the place that seems most appropriate. There are no particular rules about the placement of portals on other kinds of page." Template:Portal bar also just mentions the see also section. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:37, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Category and Project orders.
Hello there! I see you've recently adjusted the order of categories, portals, and project banners in a number of articles into alphabetical order. While there is certainly some logic to this, there is to my knowledge no express recommendation of this practice, and an alternate logic would be to have elements ordered by relevance. Thus, for instance in biographies, the WikiProject Biography banner might come first, even if the biography is in some way within the scope of WikiProject Aviation. Similarly, an article's categories might have most basic info first (e.g. Nationality, Career), even if that means putting "Zimbabwean musician" before "Hall of Fame inductees". That's how I generally order things, in the relatively few times order matters. I note also that WP:CATEGORY reads: The order in which categories are placed on a page is not governed by any single rule (for example, it does not need to be alphabetical, although partially alphabetical ordering can sometimes be helpful). Normally the most essential, significant categories appear first. Just food for thought as you proceed, and please don't be upset if I revert or re-adjust some of your changes. Cheers, --Animalparty! (talk) 03:57, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Animalparty: Thanks for leaving a note. Similar notes have been left on my talk page once or twice during my time editing Wikipedia. In my opinion, ordering categories, portals and project banners in an order other than alphanumeric is subjective. It is my preference is alphabetize these and I have spoken with editors to feel the same way. I don't feel so strongly about it that I revert someone's edits if they decide to undo my own, but I have found over the years that most editors appreciate alphanumeric order corrections. ----Another Believer (Talk) 04:09, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015 September newsletter
The finals for the 2015 Wikicup has now begun! Congrats to the 8 contestants who have survived to the finals, and well done and thanks to everyone who took part in rounds 3 and 4.
In round 3, we had a three-way tie for qualification among the wildcard contestants, so we had 34 competitors. The leader was by far Casliber (submissions) in Group B, who earned 1496 points. Although 913 of these points were bonus points, he submitted 15 articles in the DYK category. Second place overall was Coemgenus (submissions) at 864 points, who although submitted just 2 FAs for 400 points, earned double that amount for those articles in bonus points. Everyone who moved forward to Round 4 earned at least 100 points.
The scores required to move onto the semifinals were impressive; the lowest scorer to move onto the finals was 407, making this year's Wikicup as competitive as it's always been. Our finalists, ordered by round 4 score, are:
- Cas Liber (submissions), who is competing in his sixth consecutive Wikicup final, again finished the round in first place, with an impressive 1666 points in Pool B. Casliber writes about the natural sciences, including ornithology, botany and astronomy. A large bulk of his points this round were bonus points.
- Godot13 (submissions) (FP bonus points), second place both in Pool B and overall, earned the bulk of his points with FPs, mostly depicting currency.
- Cwmhiraeth (submissions), first in Pool A, came in third. His specialty is natural science articles; in Round 4, he mostly submitted articles about insects and botany. Five out of the six of the GAs he submitted were level-4 vital articles.
- Harrias (submissions), second in Pool A, took fourth overall. He tends to focus on articles about cricket and military history, specifically the 1640s First English Civil War.
- West Virginian (submissions), from Pool A, was our highest-scoring wildcard. West Virginia tends to focus on articles about the history of (what for it!) the U.S. state of West Virginia.
- Rodw (submissions), from Pool A, likes to work on articles about British geography and places. Most of his points this round were earned from two impressive accomplishments: a GT about Scheduled monuments in Somerset and a FT about English Heritage properties in Somerset.
- Rationalobserver (submissions), from Pool B, came in seventh overall. RO earned the majority of her points from GARs and PRs, many of which were earned in the final hours of the round.
- Calvin999 (submissions), also from Pool B, who was competing with RO for the final two spots in the final hours, takes the race for most GARs and PRs—48.
The intense competition between RO and Calvin999 will continue into the finals. They're both eligible for the Newcomers Trophy, given for the first time in the Wikicup; whoever makes the most points will win it.
Good luck to the finalists; the judges are sure that the competition will be fierce!

Five minutes to help make WikiProjects better
Hello!
First, on behalf of WikiProject X, thank you for trying out the WikiProject X pilot projects. I would like to get some anonymous feedback from you on your experience using the new WikiProject layout and tools. This way, we will know what we did right, and if we did something horribly wrong, we can try to fix it. This feedback won't be associated with your username, so please be completely honest. We are determined to improve the experience of Wikipedians, and your feedback helps us with that. (You are also welcome to leave non-anonymous feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject X.)
Please complete the survey here. The survey has two parts: the first part asks for your username, while the second part contains the survey questions. These two parts are stored separately, so your username will not be associated with your feedback. There are only nine questions and it should not take very long to complete. Once you complete the survey I will leave a handwritten note on your talk page as a token of my appreciation.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, Harej (talk) 17:49, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

A Donkey, 3 Rocks, and a Bird.
Hi, I put a prod notice on this, because I didn't see any indication that either the sculpture or the sculptor is notable. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 15:08, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- @NawlinWiki: I created the article based on Smithsonian's survey. There is not an article about the sculptor yet, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be. I generally work on articles about specific works of art, not biographies of artists. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:22, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- It looks like the Smithsonian is trying to catalog every work of outdoor sculpture in the USA. I'm not sure that makes all of those sculptures notable. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:24, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

- @Josve05a: I am not sure what I am supposed to be checking, but if you are justified in your actions, please feel free to undo my revert. I am just trying to preserve the integrity of a Good article based on how I thought we italicized or did not italicize publications per Wikipedia's manual of style. Perhaps it has changed, or my interpretation was incorrect. Either way, I don't mean to be difficult or resistant, I was just doing what I thought was right. - Oh, ok. Thanks. Looks like my revert was undone. I don't feel strongly either way. Personally, I can see why we might not want to italicize non-printed publications, but I'll survive either way. :) ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:36, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Untagged pages
Hi! Saw this one. Well, probably I can help. Have created a list of 1000 longest untagged articles. There probably will be some false positives, as I found out, that some projects don't use {{WPBannerMeta}} as the base template for their project. And some redirect related problems. If you spot some false positive groups, then please let me now. Why longest? Well, I think those should be tagged first, but it looks like, that will need to set some upper-limit to exclude those lists and provide some real articles. If you like, then I could give the list based on some other criteria (for example, excluding disambigs). Why only 1000? Well, for testing purpose - how good the list is. Feel free to move the page to your userspace. If you need to update it or change some formatting, then don't hesitate to ask :) --Edgars2007 (talk/contribs) 11:07, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Orlando Eye Institute
Hello Another Believer,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Orlando Eye Institute for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ubiquity (talk) 16:57, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Ubiquity: Hmm, okay. I thought there was enough information about this business and its owners to justify an article, but I will post a note on the talk page to start a discussion. Thanks for the heads up. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:06, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for taking this calmly. It's not that there's not enough information, it's that I don't see how OEI is notable. I'm sure they do good work, but it seems like just another eye clinic to me. Wikipedia is not a directory: what makes OEI worthy of an encyclopedia article? Since basically the only information provided is the (fairly standard) biographies of the practitioners, it seems promotional to me rather than encyclopedic. ubiquity (talk) 17:15, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Ubiquity: Re: "taking this calmly"... of course! I never take offense, though certainly I sometimes disagree. I simply thought the coverage about the business and both founders/owners established notability via GNG. I don't think articles are promotional because they state the services offered by a company, and I didn't think "standard" biographies were problematic. But, I also realize that I am more of an inclusionist when it comes to Wikipedia content. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:28, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- As reviewing administrator, I deleted the article. There is no question that this was essentially an advertisement e.g. "he has said of her decision to become an ophthalmologist: "Ophthalmology appeals to me because the eyes and the structures surrounding the eyes are so delicate and the surgery is so precise. There is a finesse to operating in this area that makes it challenging. I chose oculoplastics because I liked the creativity involved in the reconstructive procedures with trauma and cancer excisions. On the cosmetic end, I like helping people be happier with their appearance. The eyes are the focal point of the face and doing surgery in this area can make a huge impact in giving a more rejuvenated appearance of the face." Quoting this from her self-serving interview does not make it less promotional. There is also no question that the Institute is not notable. The references are essentially all press releases or notices in local papers. (the USNews&WorldReport item is not an article, but just an associated directory). And the published works are not nearly enough to meet WP:PROF. I would have deleted the article as promotional no matter how notable the subject, and I would have deleted it as A7 regardless of how properly it might have been written. One of the reasons we discourage writing with a conflict of interest is that it is much more difficult both to dispassionately judge notability , and to evaluate what would be appropriate content. I shall nominate some related articles as A7 also.
- Please don't let this be seen as a reflection on your excellent contributions work, especially on public monuments--what you are doing there is very important. DGG ( talk ) 00:04, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi! I got around to adding a few of the links you had handily posted to the talk page for Seedfeeder. All of these publications just basically reprint press releases. That's been accepted at many afds, where articles relying on them for notability have been deleted. -- they are not any more a RS than the company's own publications. DGG ( talk ) 21:23, 27 September 2015 (UTC)

- @Cirt: Wow. Yeah, I have co-organized the WLP campaign two years now, and both years I received emails accusing me of spreading a gay agenda and stuffing Wikipedia with biased information. However, I've also received emails from people around the world expressing their wish to organize meetup for the purpose of creating/improving LGBT-related content, but an inability to do so for privacy and safety purposes. I've also received messages thanking me for the work WLP participants contribute each year. Needless to say, I tend to ignore the haters and focus on the messages of appreciation. :) ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:39, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

Meetup Page Creation Tool
Hey Jason, just wanted to check-in with you regarding this idea for a page creation tool, and whether you were interested in applying for a grant for funding. I've left some comments at the talk page there. Let me know soon if you're interested! :) I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 16:02, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

Copy edits
Unfortunately, I don't think {{Article history}} has fields for experienced editors coming by and doing a copy edit and then being able to link to a stable edit in the edit history to preserve a nice permalink. So I generally use that field like that. Feel free to change it, but they did say copyedit in their edit summaries. — Cirt (talk) 03:06, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
