Being the punching bag

edit

To some extent I feel like of late I have been punched for actions I did that were not inovative. This Salon article [1] claims that it was "one misguided editor who decided to remove people from Category:American novelists and put them in Category:American women novelists. Since I did this systematically starting with A (and got most of the way through B) I am probably the intended attack. However as can be seen with the revison history of Anne Rice, and Zelda Fitzgerald, you have done it, and I can identify at least two other editors who did (one of whom later has claimsed we never should have done any such thing and were clearly breaking guidelines). You might want to not say anything about it, at least if you don't want to be personally attacked, and I am perfectly willing to take the brunt of the attack, but I think it misrepresents the nature of wikipedia to claim this is the work of one editor. Especially since the category was created by a different editor than any of the four I mentioned so far.John Pack Lambert (talk) 17:40, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Wikipedians interested in Sumer

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Category:Wikipedians interested in Sumer, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.  –

Your use of multiple Wikipedia accounts

edit

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/And we drown, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Franklin D. Roosevelt incomplete reference

edit

Some time ago you inserted into the Franklin D. Roosevelt a reference to ‘Collier 1974’. Would you please complement the information, with at least a title and page(s) number(s), and preferrably also place of publication, ISBN &c?

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
