Creating new article

While creating a new article sounds like fun, editing existing articles is a good path to becoming familiar with Wikipedia rules.

Editing with a possible conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, AlphaKGN. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.--SamHolt6 (talk) 16:27, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

SamHolt6 Noted. I am very careful with promotional content and will continue to do so while contributing to Wikipedia. The page I tried to write on Therapy Source was purely on the references I gathered over the internet. I will rectify the issues that are suggested, review the content to conform to Wiki guidelines and resubmit. Thanks! --AlphaKGN (talk) 20:40, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
AlphaKGN, you are dodging the most important question. Please do not edit again until you have answered the following question with a clear "yes" or "no": Are you being paid or compensated to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to do so as a duty of employment or internship? Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:43, 30 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
No Seraphimblade, I am not paid for this. I came across this company on the Internet, found the concept interesting, researched about it for appropriate citations and gave an attempt to make the page. My sincere apologies if I have drafted wrong content, I will rectify my mistake.--AlphaKGN (talk) 20:03, 30 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for clarifying that. Yes, especially with material about companies, be careful what you use and how it's phrased in the article. A lot of material out there might be simple reprinted press releases by the company itself, and those are often pretty promotional. Make sure to keep a very critical eye toward sourcing, since the organizations by definition have an interest in promoting themselves. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:42, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the guidance @Seraphimblade:. Can you please help me edit this article? It is my first one and I don't want it to get deleted.--AlphaKGN (talk) 20:40, 1 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Louis Carter (CEO Coach)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Louis Carter (CEO Coach), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Shaun Frank, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page EDM (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:28, 19 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

{Reply to DPL bot} I am sorry for this error, I have identified the issue and will rectify it once I am able to make edits again. Thank you for pointing it out. It is a learning experience. --AlphaKGN (talk) 16:36, 19 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Requesting unblock

Request reason:

I have been blocked from making edits to Wikipedia. This is surprising as I pick up random articles that I find on the community portal and edit as per the guidelines. On the CheckUser discussion, the pages stated by Oshwah (either draft or mainspace) are from the community portal. I work mostly on lead paragraphs and adding images as I have stated on my userpage. Apart from that, I have constructively contributed towards Wikipedia by removing promotional paragraphs from many pages. For example, I came across this page of Geoffrey van Maltzahn and removed promotional language from that page for which the admin/moderator PaulCHerbert thanked me. I rarely create new pages though I have the right to do so. If I find something that I can make a page on, I always go through Article Wizard so that I do not violate any Wikipedia content policies and submit for moderator review. If I am unsure of anything, I ask for help on Teahouse. The claim that my 'first edits showing a high degree of prior knowledge regarding WP editing' is because I have read a lot about the Wikipedia and its policies and guidelines prior to becoming a member and always refer good articles before making edits. The user RoseRalph might have similar edit summary as mine because even I refer to edit summaries by other moderators and admins and quote them accordingly to be sure of using the right language. Perhaps, that user is trying to copy me or something. Please help me as I have not done anything wrong. I have recently changed my Internet Service Provider which might be the reason for 'abused multiple accounts' that is reflecting on my block notice, but I don't know. I request you to unblock me so that I can continue contributing to the encyclopedia without violating any rules. Kindly consider my request and guide me if I have to keep something in mind for future. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanking you in anticipation.

Decline reason:

I put two and two together and the answer was UPE sock. Your appeal is declined. Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 18:47, 19 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hello moderators/admins Bbb23 and Jezebel's Ponyo Can you please guide me what to interpret of this - AlphaKGN is now   Confirmed to Johnsaavn (talk · contribs · count). Does this mean I am related to that user or something. In any case I do not know him/her. I wrote a verbose block request to explain my situation, how else am I suppose to explain my case. If you can let me know how to prove myself, I will do it. I did everything by the book. Please help me. --AlphaKGN (talk) 19:33, 19 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
